If I can give this place less then once star I would! Avoid this place at ALL costs no matter what. They are a bunch of crooks and thieves! They don't even preform the services that you PAID for. I spent 500+ dollars on a tune up and they didn't even change out some of my engine fluids. They did NOT give me the service I paid for. I took my car to Another mechanic to get some various things fixed, since Alonsos wanted way too much. He went over and showed me what did and didn't get done. So the horror story begins: They said my car will be done that day and I told them I would pick it up tomorrow morning. Next morning I call and they said my car isn't ready when I originally was told it will be ready that day. Of course given the opportunity they will put my car aside. They told me they are still working on it, and it will be done around noon. So unprofessional, don't give a time if you can't meet if period. The mechanic I took my car to, showed my oil filter was stripped on and too tight and the thread was ruined. My anti-freeze wasn't topped off, along with some other fluids that wasn't changed. Also Alonso's over charge with everything. Parts are cheap, however they charge 90 dollars an hour for labor. If your going to charge that much do the job right and correct. $399 EXTRA for rotors and breaks no thanks. And 200 for belts!? No. Please avoid this place at all costs. THEY ARE WAY OVER PRICED! I will contact the city and the BBB about this place. Such a same, the only nice thing is the lady's at the front desk. read more

First of all, let it be known that I am one of those spoiled kids who grew up with a mechanic of a father, a guy that could fix anything with an 'on' switch. Unfortunately, no amount of bribing could convince my dad to move to California with me, so I had to find the impossible when my A/C finally died: an affordable mechanic. I guess I am just one of those annoyingly lucky chicks because the first mechanic I tried was Alonso. Here are the high points: 1. Alonso himself told me what was wrong with my car and gave me two price points, a new compressor vs. a refurbished compressor. 2. I told him I had to think about it since both prices seemed ridiculously high (Again, never had to pay more than helping with the labor and keeping my dad company AKA spoiled) and he gave me the assessment for free and told me to just let him know if I wanted him to fix it. 3. After doing research on my own, I found that the prices he provided me were the minimum of the national estimates for an compressor replacement for the type and model of my car. 4. When I called them back they were able to get me in for the next day. 5. After fixing my car, they gave me a discount so that my bill ended up being lower than he quoted. 6. Everyone working at the counter and answering the phone was courteous and patient with my nervous/suspicious/scatterbrained self. 7. Out of 10, this place is an 11!!! Superb Service & Friendly! My first time here! The only regret I have is not writing this review sooner! I took my mom's car to get fixed (2004 pt cruiser). Not only did they fix it, but they helped me get my money back from the dealership!! My mom took the car to the dealer to get it diagnosed and not only were they wrong about what service/repair the car needed, but they charged me an arm and leg for a diagnostic they could not prove they did!! Fortunately, Helen (being extremely pleasant and super good at customer service) explained what checks they did on my mom's car and determined that the dealer was incorrect. After a follow up with the dealer- a dodge chrysler dealer, so they should know about the car, right? - I got my money back! I found this place on Yelp while looking for somewhere decent to go for an oil change. The reviews for this place don't lie... my experience here has been a great one the past 3x I've been here. The first time I came I had a chance to meet Alonso, he's extremely nice.. so much so he offered me a gift that someone had given to him (a starbucks giftcard) because he noticed I had a drink in my hand. Who does that!?? Alonso does! (no promises he'll do it again though lol) The perks (Keurig coffee, netflix & more) are nothing compared to the friendly service I received here. The other 2x that I've been here have been just as great. Another great thing is that they are also very innovative! I've received emails from them thanking me for my business which include the mileage at my last visit, which I consider to be very convenient. This is the first review I've left on Yelp, and I simply can't think of a better place to leave my first review than Alonso's! I took my old Suby in with a coolant leak: the coolant level kept dropping even though there wasn't any residue on the ground or coolant in my engine bay. Hence, I half-suspected I had a blown head gasket, which would have burned a hole through my wallet. Alonso and his team, after hearing my concerns, gave my car a thorough check and it turned out that my worst fears had not been realized. It was a worn upper radiator hose that was causing the leak. I seriously have to commend these guys for how meticulous, honest, patient and reassuring they are. I came in a few days ago because I had car trouble. I went to my original Mechanic and unfortunately, my car broke down on him and told me I needed to tow it back to him. Not cool. I ended up coming to Alonso's because they have great reviews. They did the diagnosis and it was a TCM. I mentioned to them that I'll be towing my car to the ford of upland in the morning, they were super cool about it, left my car in the shop, I felt my car was safe because the past 4 days my car was in the street and I have a broken window. I ended up taking my car to ford of upland because I have a warranty for a TCM. As I was talking to the guy who was helping me, I mentioned I came here, he said his parents have been going to Alonso's for 20 years and he trust that the TCM was the issue. Turns on it was! He also made a mistake ordering a part that is much more expensive than the quote he gave me. Instead of tacking the more expensive part to my invoice, he ate the cost. Not only he is HONEST, he admitted his mistake. What a trooper! From now on, I will only take my cars to Alonso. We had a car that was overheating and as an emergency had to take it to a Pep Boys in Ontario. They said we had to replace the radiator as well as all the hoses and the thermostat and wanted to charge a ridiculous amount. I called around and found Alonso's. They were honest with their pricing and clear about what our car needed. They finished the work in a timely manner and kept us updated about the work that was being done on our car. I just went to this place this morning. Oh man, I'm so happy with my decision! Customer service was excellent especially Alex, he's really helpful. Waiting area wasn't so bad with free wifi & Netflix lol. (If you add free coffee & doughnut in the waiting room, ill give 10 stars for this place lol jk) Last time I took my to the dealership and they recommended so many things that will cost me nearly $600. Just went in to drop off my car, told me it would be 130$ just for them to diagnose the car. I explained how I have a code and what I knew only for then the guy to sass me. Here I am a 22 year old girl , he probably knows I know nothing about cars I was just surprised with the price without actually fixing the car. So I tell him the code and what I knew about it, he then asks me "well do you know what it is?" "Do you know where it is?" I answer no so he looks at me with a look as if I'm dumb and moves on to tell me that that's what the 130$ is for to look where the problem is. If Yelp would allow me to give more than 5 stars, I would. Five stars just doesn't capture how amazing this company is and how well they've treated my vehicle and my family. I had been taking my Chevy Tahoe to Mountain View Chevrolet in Upland for several years. But we've always spent top dollar there. There used to be a service tech that treated me well, made me feel like my business was valued, but as of late, the level of customer service has only gone downhill. (And that employee is apparently no longer there.) At my last visit I was told my tires were in bad shape. I found that comment to directly contradict an inspection report I was given. The report included a long list of items that appeared to have been "inspected"- perhaps I was wrong to think an Inspection report indicated that things were inspected. My tires had been marked in the green column- green appearing to indicate they were in acceptable condition. When I brought this to the tech's attention, he very condescendingly told me that those are just visual inspections, and they don't mean those items are REALLY okay..... but there was nothing on the page to note that a car owner shouldn't really trust those answers.... very confusing. I looked at the guy and asked, "So that's it? You have nothing else to add?" He looked at me with such apathy. When he shook his head, I walked out and said, "You really need to at least act like you give a sh**... at least a little." My husband had been taking his cars to Alonso's for years and suggested we take the Tahoe there. I was blown away with the personal and thorough service we were given. When my husband explained that the Tahoe was important to us because it's my car to take our kids to school, etc., Alonso's made sure we had it back asap. Instead of waiting for a part to ship, they drove to the location and picked it up AND worked late that evening to finish the job. Alonso's made us feel like they actually care about our car and our safety. They also treated us like our business meant something to them. They have definitely earned a new devoted customer!! UPDATE: After reading a couple reviews regarding price, I felt I should include some more info. The price that Alonso's charged us to fix the rear lift gate on our Tahoe was close to a THIRD of the price that the dealership would charge. read more

I brought my commuter car in for repair after the alternator died. I was greatly impressed by the service and its efficiency and the use of technology to effectively communicate. In addition, I appreciate the staff letting me know there was more repairs needed and being accurate on the quotes. Loved this place! My timing belt snapped on my Mitsubishi Eclipse. Everywhere I called wanted to take my engine apart and see what damage it did (about $1500-2000 on most quotes). But this guy told me that Eclipses don't usually have damage when it snaps and he didn't want to charge me for labor to check the engine if there was nothing wrong with it. He put a new timing belt on and fixed a couple minor things it hit outside the engine when it snapped and that was all it needed. Car was done on time and as quoted. Only $890. These are really honest people and charge fairly reasonable rates seeing that they don't charge you later for a bunch of stuff you don't need. read more

Came here based on the good Yelp review and because my car was shaky when I would accelerate and brake. I only had a free inspection done but felt they were honest and straight to the point about the tires needing to be balanced. I was told that my brake pads were a bit uneven but I could still drive it and it shouldn't be a problem. Was advised to go into any tire store to get only the front two balanced, which should cost $20 or fewer, and if I still had problems after that, they would check it out again. I felt he was honest and straight to the point and I like that. Didn't try to tell me to get anything else done. Talked to Eddie and he seemed like a nice guy. Will come back if I need to have it checked out again. The only thing I thought was funny was the fact that I called in two days in advanced to make an appointment at 2:30 and I walked in and was told I had to wait because I didn't come in exactly on time. I checked the time and it was 2:31 p.m. Hmm... Ended up waiting an hour. I had nowhere to be but I would have liked to get in and out faster. read more

I don't like leaving reviews, and don't usually do but businesses like this one, I just HAVE to support! These guys are great, honest as well. It's tough to find honest mechanics. I was sick and tired of having to deal with all of these mechanics that just want your money. But it is a different story here with Alonso. I knew my car had allot of issues that needed to be fixed but I wanted to see what they would tell me. So I decided to come here to get an inspection. It was $85 bucks and they told me half of that goes to any work that is done on the car. Big plus. Where do you find that kind of deal? Inspection took over an hour , they have a nice little waiting room with free drinks and coffee. Very comfortable CLEAN little room, most other shops are filth. Plus they have netflix. So I watched a couple documentaries while I waited :) After it was done the first thing that Alonso told me was this: " Are you planning on selling that car?" instead of telling me okay this is what you need to fix blah blah blah BS that other slimeball mechanics out there tell you. He could have made BANK off of me. But instead he offered to help me by giving me advice and telling me to get rid of the car instead of investing more money into the damn thing. So I decided to sell it and get me a knew one to rid me of those issues. This is the only mechanic I would bring my cars to though. All other mechanics around here suck, just look at reviews. I'm glad I came here and they fixed my battery which had dead cells. However, they said that my windshield wiper was broken. It worked fine but I trusted them and all the reviews that they were good, and they replaced it with a bad wiper. The wipers now squeak every time I wipe with it when it didn't before. They have good services with oil changes and everything, but don't take their suggestions unless you know there's something wrong! read more

Had a really great experience with Alonso's. I'll preface by saying I've always been afraid of coming to a mechanic, especially not knowing anything about my car. This first visit to Alonso's changed that - I felt welcomed, informed, and not rushed in any way. I'll definitely be coming back for future services. I came in to get my starter replaced, but ended up also getting a tune-up and cleaned throttle body. The price and labor for the starter were definitely the cheapest around, considering I called other shops in the area. Even with the low prices, I'd have to say how Helen handled my phone call was what ultimately made me stop in. She was very careful to explain my options and the breakdown of the prices and was just extremely friendly overall. After inquiring about the tune-up, Helen let me know that they would take a look at my car and see what exactly needed to be worked on, instead of performing services I didn't need. This extra service took a day longer than originally expected (original quoted time was for starter replacement only), but the office kept me updated the entire time with phone calls and text messages. No need for fluids, but filters and spark plugs were replaced. She did also mentioned my throttle body was in need of cleaning, which I didn't ask for them to take a look at. It really feels like they took their time with my car, seeing specifically what it needed, relaying that info to me, and explaining the priority of what needed to be performed - whether it should be done now, or if I could bring it in later. Also, the prices were adjusted for the partial tune-up accordingly. I'm so glad I came to Alonso's. I love the awesome customer service and detailed updates. Needed transmission serviced. Good price and they also changed oil. Helen in the office is very nice and a excellent employee! They had mentioned that my control arm needed to be replaced ASAP the last time I was here. I set up my appointment online and received a confirmation via email. They make everything very easy and convenient. 6/25/16***I was an hour late for my appointment but Helen (as always) was very accommodating in every way. She also arranged for me to get a ride back home! They quoted me a time of 2 hours and finished in less than an hour and half. Oh, And they picked me back up too! Great work, better people, and their parts and labor are under warranty. I know it sounds like I'm partial because of how phenomenal the people who work here are, but I actually just came upon this place because of their other Yelp reviews. Well, this review is way past due. I'm sure I'm speaking for a lota single women out there when I say it's a struggle to find a trust-worthy mechanic shop. When a new job opportunity brought me to Claremont, I finally found IT!! I commuted from HB to Claremont so the good ol' Karen needed to be serviced quite frequently. They always did a great job with fair price! The customer service was also always great, very accommodating because they would drop me off back to work and since I could only pick up my car after work, they'll wait past business hours until I come by to pick up the car. And most importantly, they went the extra miles for me by replacing broken light bulbs and installed wiper blades at no cost! Being a loyal customer paid off I guess =) Unfortunately, I had to leave the job and with the heaviest heart let Karen go. I have had my car serviced here on two occasions. Just moving to the area..I originally found them on Yelp. They are very upfront about the cost and on the services that you need. Pricing is honest and will only advise you to if you really truly need something. They keep you well informed on the status of your car which was very helpful through my busy workday. I expected to leave my car there for two days and surprisingly was without a car for only 1 day. The first service was for a thermostat replacement and the 2nd visit was for an evap system issue and brakes. My beloved Honda Civic 2000 finally died after 213,000 miles of use. Alonso's gave helpful information about getting a replacement engine, but it was decided that it wouldn't be worth putting a used engine in that might not run for long. A mechanic at Alonso's bought my Civic, and they did not charge for the diagnosis on the car or the 6 days it was parked inside (normally they charge after 3 days for storage). Alonso's was able to test another car I was considering purchasing the next day after I called to see if they could check out the car. They're always so friendly at Alonso's, and my family and I have been going to them for a few years now. We plan to be lifetime customers! read more
