The tailor at ALTERATION DEPOT is honest. I came in with a hundred yards of fabric and asked if he could make curtains out of it. He was honest and said I should go check stores first because I could probably get it cheaper there. He was right. I still had pants to alter and he did them perfectly. He called to say it wasn't going to be ready at the time that he originally quoted to me, but he had it ready by the second ETA. Alteration was never ready, regardless of the scheduled time. Had to call an hour ahead so they can start working on it. After 5 alterations pants are to the original size, never mind multiple measures. Seems like these measures were never a guidance for alterations, but approximate amount of inches to add or subtract. Pants are now trashed, $30 for alteration wasted plus the time to back and forth. Awful service. Be aware. read more

Promised May 20 and was not ready on June 7th!!!! I came in to get shoes repaired and thought I could get my alterations done as well. I dropped off items the first go around and had them done as promised except for one item. It wasn't done. So, I dropped off another item and said I would pick up the top( which wasn't ready) along with the new item the following week. BEWARE!!! When I came to pick up the top, promised two weeks ago, it was not ready and neither the hem on my sleeves (the 2nd item)... Asked if I could wait... I said I'd be back in A couple of days. Nope, 3 weeks later the original top was not completed. I did sit and wait. The quality of work is good but the time wasted forces me to look elsewhere. read more

Called in to find out how long they would need if I drop off a dress on Friday..originally they said theyd need til Tuesday but I said I would need to pick up the dress the next day. Adrian is the Best! We requested him to change the top of my wedding dress from an empire cut to a regular cut so that my daughter can use it. So he had to customize the top and carefully detach the beaded bottom of the gown. We had about 5 fittings to make sure it fitted well. It wa since throughout the holidays my daughters weight fluctuated. He was patient to adjust and redo. The gown fit like a glove! read more

Came in on Tuesday to ask him to sow together something onto the sleeve of a sweatshirt. Told me would be done Friday...8$. Why it would take 3 full days for a 2 minute job is beyond me but I told myself he has work to do. Came in on Friday, asked me if I could come later. Said no, and pulled out the sweatshirt and extra pieces the same way I brought it in! Put his lunch aside to sow what I had asked, and in the middle of sowing he tells me he needs to charge more!! THE JOB WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE ! I laughed, said whatever man, you told me 3 days it's been 3 days it's not done. He shoved the sweatshirt into my hands, said "take it" with a snobby attitude . Laughed and walked out. DO NOT GO INTO HERE! There is a shoe repair in the facility as well who is also a scumbag and has ruined shoes for me!! I started coming here because my mom recommended it after having some things altered. I've had a few items altered/ tailored here, and all of my items have come out great. I've had a dress and pair of pants shortened, plus a few items that needed some updated like fixing a shirt hem and sewing down a patch that was coming off. brought my everyday pants for a zipper repair,I was told it would take 7 days, when I came back 7 days later the owner told me it was not ready and to come back later in the afternoon, I returned 5 days later, the tailor/owner was off and the person who was working told me he could not take care of me and he did not have my garment, bad customer service, I hope it improves, he said the tailor would hopefully return in 5-6 days read more

I dropped a pair of pants off to have small tears in the upper corners of the pockets patched. I was dropping off shoes to be reheeled in the same shop so I figured, two birds, one stone. The alterations guy told me to pick them up 4 days later on a Friday. I asked for my shoes to be ready the same day. Fast forward 4 After picking up my shoes, I swung by to grab my pants. He winced and said that they aren't ready. He said to come back any day the following week and they'd be ready. I went in the following Thursday (yes, almost a week later). Guess what? Nope, not ready. He said to sit down and he'd do them. I asked how much he had completed already and it was zero. I was unable to wait and he told me to return Saturday. That's tomorrow. After reading other reviews I have the feeling that when I do finally get back there, they still won't be done, and I'll just take them and go. Stand by for the continuation of this saga...I didn't go back in two days, I waited 6. Glad I did. Much to my surprise the pants were done! The owner was sincerely apologetic and we discussed the poor practice of promising something will be done and not fulfilling that promise. He needs good help and I encouraged his honesty with when work would be completed. I'm upping my rating to 2 stars because he did a very professional job at a reasonable price. Having to return 3 times was frustrating though. I may give him one more try and allow 2 weeks for its completion and see how that works out. Not too optimistic though. Initially, I had a good relationship with the shop keeper after a referral from a friend. Just recently that relationship turned very sour. I was oversharged on a simple double on a sweatshirt based upon a similiar order to another alteration place. From $16 at Alteration Depot to $10 at their competitor. Same simple hem with no special detail. But the biggest problem was the complete separateness with the cleaners at the same location. There is NO cooperation between the two. I was in the shop when the cleaners guy was there, but the alteration guy was not. I had to come back three times to pick up my item. The second time the alteration guy was on vacation. No way of signing anything to pick up my item. Two completely separate businessess under the same crooked roof. I would recommend you like I have done before and will continue to do is find a cleaners that runs a organized business where you wont have to wait for a specific person to retrieve an item. Cleaners and alteration places are evrywhere and they are a dime for a dozen. This routine of two different businesses is very ineffective and waste of my time. I enjoy going to Northridge - Costco, REI, Rydell, even the Mall, but I will NEVER deal with the Alteration Depot or his Pinneer Cleaners/shoe repair again. I could save $6 and a lot of time, head aches, and agony. read more

This place USED TO BE so fabulous when the Chinese lady ran this place. The work WAS impeccable, the prices WERE fair for the workmanship, & return time WAS reasonable. HOWEVER, ever since this Hispanic guy took over...it puts the previous owner's reputation through the mud!!! Dropped off a pair of pants to be hemmed. I had tried to hem them at home but the material was challenging. When I picked them up 3 days later, I tried the pants on at home, and they were UNEVEN!! Who doesn't check their work to make sure that the pant legs are the same length??? What's more, the workmanship was below par. When I called back 2 days later on Monday, I told the guy that I was unhappy that the pants were not the same length. After some fuss, he said that he would fix the pant leg. When I dropped the pants off, he started giving me a lecture that he doesn't check the work if the customer has the pants already pinned...perhaps my hips are not aligned. I assured him that I didn't have a hip problem. He then told me that I would have to wait 5 days for him to fix the leg. I asked him if he was trying to punish me for complaining about the job. He then changed the pick up date for 2 days later. When I came to pick up the pants, THEY WEREN'T READY!! He told me to come back in 1 hour and then turned his back to wait on his customer. I came back 1 1/2 hrs later because I didn't want to be pissed again that he didn't finish the work. AND HE DIDN'T!!!!! Oh my gosh!!! Sooooo unprofessional and utterly frustrating!!! So I sat and waited for him to do my pant leg after trying to give me excuses why he couldn't get to it. Really??? You can't do one pant leg in 3 days??? Mediocrity at it's best. For an impeccable job, I guess that I'll have to travel to Greenland Market on Sherman Way. There's a seamstress on the 2nd floor who does an AMAZING, honest job!!! read more

The worst do not go here. Turned in my pants for a simple zipper change. They were there for over a week. I told him when i dropped them off on a Saturday that I'll get them by Saturday. I show up, and he tells me to wait while he finishes another pair of pants for someone else. Then after waiting few minutes i ask how long its going to take since i have to run to work and he says 2 more minutes. When he's done he tells me that they are not done. And ill have to return later. Wow. read more

Overall great service and great job. But it is little pricey if you are bringing clothes for alteration. I had one dress and a pair of pants to hem, and it cost $32 total. I asked the guy and told me hemming dress cost $20 because of lining, and the pants is $12. I never paid this much for alteration before... I would recommend this place if you really need it done right away. They will have it ready without the rushing fee. read more

This place is so unprofessional! I have had similar experiences with the previous reviewer. I dropped off a pair of leather shorts that had a small rip in the seam and was told to come back 6 days later. I went in this morning (the day he promised it would be done), but it wasnt even started on! The owner had totally forgot about my shorts and then asked me to wait 15 minutes while he would work on my shorts. I patiently waited and he told me to wait another 10 minutes. After about 50 minutes in the store, he told me he would have to do something else to the seam as the leather was starting to rip and told me to come back again later. When he showed me what he had done so far, there were small tears on my leather shorts and when i kindly asked him to be careful with them when he works on it, he went ahead and started raising his voice at me saying he did not create those tears. I have never worn these shorts before and are brand new with all tags attached. I am so disappointed at this place and they seem so unprofessional. I DO NOT recommend dropping anything off at this place to be altered or fixed (except the shoe repair counter which the worker seems very nice and professional). Give your business elsewhere, as the service and workmanship is way below average! read more
