Otherwise fast service, large variety of food selection, and delicious items.

Plenty of parking space outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Arranged a weekend lunch here with a group of friends -from their interior decor to comfortable seating to delicious food, I can confidently say we will be back![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order through a QR code at your table, and honestly you just want to order everything on their menu. The variety of skewers all came out at once and placed on their skewer platter at the table. Everything was delivered in a timely manner, and the waitress was attentive with refilling our water pitcher. Be careful with the XLB because they're juicy! I bit into mine and all the soup splattered onto my plate and my top a bit. All of our tummies and tastes buds were satisfied! Oh- also thank u so much for providing us some dessert plates and forks for dessert we brought in to share with our group!

Having a get together with some friends when in town. A friend picked this place and it was delicious. They have lots of variety of skewers and side dishes to share. So glad there were 5 of us so we can taste most of the menu. We thought we over ordered but it was good portion size. Their dumplings and beef rolls were delicious. All the food came in a good timely matter and you don't feel like you have been waiting. Love the decor and super trendy. It reminded me when I was in Hong Kong. Toward the end of the night they have open mic karaoke. Seem super fun. Definitely a place for a group of friends. Will definitely come back when in town again.

First time here and it was GOOD. Great location with big parking lot. The sign js huge so you can't miss it. Very cute decoration here with lots of colorful lights. Extensive food menu. Order food with QR code. We got a lot of stuff and everything taste good. Server Jeff cooked the stone pot noodle right in front of us. Excellent service from Jeff. I highly recommend.

Always Cool BBQ is a very fun place, especially if you come in a large group. I've been here a couple of times and both experiences were very different. The first time, I came with a large group and we ordered multiple dishes (family style). It was interesting trying the various options which is a lot!! Then we walked next door to do Karaoke and it was a lot of fun. The second time, I came only with my husband since we had been dreaming about the food since the last time we went but it was a bit different this time. It was too much for two and we didn't get to order too many dishes like the first time. I suggest coming with a group of 4 at least. Also, I believe the menu has changed a bit. Before you could order by the skewers but now you have to purchase 3 minimum which I wasn't a big fan of. To be honest the skewers are the least favorite dish from here. They were very chewy. We had the beef ones. The rest of the other dishes were delicious! My husband's favorite is the Spicy Fried Clams. They have the best ones I've tried. I'm not a huge fan of clams but the ones here are delicious! We also have the Onion Pancakes (they were better the first time we ordered vs the second time). The second time they were very thin band didn't taste like onion pancakes. The combo fried rice was good and my favorite was the String Beans and Eggplant. This dish was delicious! The Red Oil Pork Won Tons are a bit for me. They have the Sichuan sauce that is tingly and it was a it for me. Overall I would totally come back just with more people. It is funner with a large group.

Wow, what a score in Fremont! Was looking for something random with my daughter and came across this review on Yelp and thought why not? This place has a very cool vibe inside with vibrant signage and fish tanks next to tables that are super relaxing. You order on your phone using the QR code and pay the final bill with your server. They have so many choices of great Chinese "street food" and everything else Chinese wise you would find at Chinese restaurants but more of it. Let me say the Chinese pancakes were TO DIE FOR! Light, flakey, not greasy and multiple layers. The sesame balls were the best I ever had. Light crispy outside, toasted to perfection with a true toasted flavor and the chewy tender inside that makes me want to take a nap after eating them. Like comfort food on steroids. The most interesting item was the street food squid on skewers which were amazing. Don't think soft tender calamari, thing a snappy piece of tentacle you have to chew but it's not rubbery like old squid, it's a refreshing snappy bite with an incredible sauce that has a nice kick but doesn't kick you back from your chair with tears running down your face. Been there and done that plenty in my travels. This place has Chinese BBQ only in the evening but with a menu of this size, you really need to come with 4-8 people (there were only two of us) as they give you portions that easily would allow each person 1-2 pieces of everything and that's where the fun really would explode. This is 5 stars for me but we only tried 4 items and took 1/2 home for left overs. Next time I am bringing my army and hitting the bbq. Definitely check this place out!

Most dishes are good! The chow mein, bbq items, oysters are delicious. I didn't care for the wet or beef noodles dishes. Stick with fry noodles and bbq items! It can get expensive and some items can be too salty!! Not recommended if you can't do salty foods! read more

7/23/23 The food's amazing. The decor........ well, is... different. Ordering....... very debatable. But for sure--they MUST fix their frickin' signs! This place is in a small strip mall, and you'd think you see that "[Chinese] Always cool BBQ" sign and go cool I found it. NOPE. Walking up to the door you'd see a sign that says use the door to the left. So you walk to the next business to the left and.......... shhhht... door's locked. BUT, there's a noodle restaurant another business down... hmmmmmmmmmmm..... Yes, that's right, the restaurant you want is called "The Special Noodle House." Walking in....... well, check out others' pics. It's... not what anyone would expect. Ordering is via your phone, which I typically hate, but at least the reception was okay. I guess it sorta works in this case cause you may find yourself under-ordering (for once)....... OH RIGHT... yeah, so this place is a "Chinese BBQ" or "Chinese Skewer" restaurant. So, kinda like Japanese Yakatori, but done up Chinese (read: mega cumin). My favorite skewer?--the intestines on a skewer. OMFG sooooo good. Crisp, fatty, chewy! I'd get like 5 of those next time! Also, their squid was great. Got chicken feet on skewers just cuz wtf--but it's really hard to eat. Lots of bones, not much reward. I'd skip unless you really want to try, and I know you do! Croaker on sticks was moist, and the bones were mostly edible. I'd get again. The Chinese BBQ'd corn was super duper BBQ flavored. I liked except it was a bit soggy. Also got roasted eggplant, and that was pretty hard to eat. I don't think the skin was meant to be eaten, but the flesh was SUPER hard to pick up with the smooth plastic chopsticks. Would be much easier to eat with a fork. That said, it was SUPER flavorful and ultra garlicky and did taste great if you could get it in your mouth. Also got roast pig's feat, which was something I've never had BBQ'd. I guess it tastes like what you'd think it would taste like--spicy fatty goodness. Anyway, almost everything was delicious! Went to Alway Cool BBQ and found out it is the same restaurant as Special Noodle. Got a bit confused but it doesn't bother us to enjoy the food. In general, food is great. We ordered the Soup Pan Fried Buns which is super good with crunchy bottom and juicy inside; Spicy Green Beans Eggplant Mixed Noodles which I think I love the most because the noodle is their homemade and the chewy type I love, and the flavor is perfect; skewers which are also good and we ended up ordering more after the first round. On top of the good food, their service is really impressive. First, Anna took our order and gave us many recommendations. She gave us a side dish, cucumber salad, for free! Then later, the owner found out that we didn't like the fried pork dish (guo bao rou) much because it was a bit dry, so she replaced it with something else on the menu of our choice. In addition she made a new plate of the fried pork herself and gave it to us for free. I feel this place really goes above and beyond for customer satisfaction! I would highly recommend this place due to great food plus great services. read more

I swung by Saturday night around 8pm and there were only 3-4 other tables filled. Oddly enough, when a table leaves, the staff there don't clean it up right away. There were about 5-6 tables covered in dirty plates/utensils. Since most of the restaurant was empty, I didn't have to wait at all to be seated. They have a QR menu where we were each able to put in our own order. Food-wise, the taste was just average. There wasn't much flavor on the skewers compared to other restaurants, and the quality of the lamb wasn't very high. There has been an increase in Chinese skewer restaurants in the Fremont area. I most likely will not come back to this particular one as I found the flavors at other restaurants better. read more

I had a fantastic meal at this restaurant - the food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a great day out. I love the restaurant decorations with dreamy lights. In weekends there is a singer. It's authentic southwestern Chinese cuisine. Hit up Always Cool BBQ as part of my goal to find a solid Chinese skewer place in Fremont, and was not disappointed! We tried a number of different skewers (lamb, beef, chicken heart, chicken skin, beef tendon, tofu skin, and bread), fried rice with pineapple, and beef tripe in mala sauce (which came with fishcake, fish balls, and wood ear mushroom). All of the skewers were well-seasoned, cooked just right, and a good level of spicy - I particularly enjoyed the chicken skin, which was simultaneously so crispy and juicy. I usually expect the non-skewer dishes at skewer places to be mediocre, but the fried rice was actually quite good as well. Prices are higher than other skewer places in the area, but the quality is noticeable. Service is fast and the restaurant conveniently uses 39 Miles for ordering. I would definitely come back for more skewers and maybe try their non-skewer dishes as well. read more

i stopped by recently with a friend for dinner and to be quite honest there weren't a lot of options in which i wanted to try (if you enjoy chinese street food/style bbq along with internal organs (gizzards/ligaments/hearts) options then this would be a good spot for you) otherwise there were some sparing seafood/noodle dishes along with rice, veggies, side dishes. i personally tried the beef kabobs, abalone w/vermicelli, squid neck, and fish tofu. my friend ordered fried rice with pineapple and crispy fried chicken with egg yolk - to which i tried and didn't really enjoy. but props to the crispy fried chicken with egg yolk you can really taste the salted egg. vs. the fried rice with pineapple - wasn't super flavorful and didn't look too appetizing. id say that the beef kabobs, abalone w/vermicelli, squid neck, and fish tofu were a pretty safe option to order and the flavor was pretty good. i think this is a spot in which id stop by again every now and then but not a spot id go to consistently! if you're in the area id recommend trying it at least once esp if you enjoy eating internal organs! tips: - karaoke bar is right next door - easy ordering through the phone - great for big groups and larger parties - very aesthetically pleasing along with lots of fun decorations around the place - parking lot available read more

A very good Sichuan and Hunan style restaurant There are various kinds of barbecue skewers that are pretty good. I have been abroad for many years and found the Sichuan and Hunan style Chuan Chuan Guo, which is very satisfying. Additionally, I highly recommend the shrimp and beef dish in golden soup. It's a must-order for me every time I visit. After the meal, taking the soup home for the next day's noodle dish turns it into another delightful meal! The service provided by the staff is excellent. We came early to celebrate the Mother's Day. The service was very quick and the dishes are authentic and very decent in sizes. You should definitely come if you are interested in having a taste of the traditional flavors of northern Chinese. I'd also give a thumbs up in options for less spicy and salty for each dish so that they are better suited for elderly and the kids. The dishes to recommend are definitely guobaorou and Kongpao chicken. read more

This place is awesome. I absolutely love the street themed atmosphere with the neon signs and the fish. Not to mention the food here is soo good. I typically come in with a decent sized group of people and they are easily able to accommodate large groups. Ordering food on their app is super easy, just be careful that not too many people order all at once cause they bring a lot of food. If you are looking for some good food, this place will not disappoint. read more

This is my third time eating here this month. We've been looking for a good Chinese skewer place and happened to find this one in Yelp. Skewers are not heavily seasoned, just enough and meat is not chewy. Highlights are chicken skin, heart, squid tenticles. Also the spicy noodle in casserole is great. Will be back again. read more

Food is all right. Tried their crawfish in garlic sauce. It's not bad but I've had better at other seafood restaurants. Their pork ribs coated in sticky rice was not bad either. I'd give this dish a 3.5/5. Their sweet wasabi shrimp is basically the same flavor as honey walnut shrimp at any Chinese restaurant, but served with chunks of pineapples instead of walnuts. If you like honey walnut shrimp, you'll also like this dish. Decor was interesting; they're going for the Asian night club vibe since they share space with a karaoke bar next door. Food was pricier than what I expected but I guess it doesn't matter if you're belting out some tunes next door and you get hungry. I suppose it's convenient to have easy access to food when you meet up with friends who occasionally sing out of tune. Wait staff at the restaurant were friendly. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Fremont. Based on the food alone, the taste wasn't as memorable as the funky interior design. read more

Great food! Service .... meh. I wish the servers were more engaged. When they forgot our item it took telling three of them. Then finally after we were done with our meal, we wanted the check and cancel the item. Suddenly they brought it to us but no apology or free item for our inconvenience. They served other people before us I kind of felt that it was being biased because we were "different". They also Never checked in with us. But maybe that was their style of service. 9 dollars per 3 mini lamb skewers, way too pricey for the food quality. Thought they were bbq'ed but more like fried. If the food was overpriced, I'm actually ok with it, but my stomach got pretty upset the next day, hence the food is probably not even clean... At least try to make your food worth the price we are paying for. The only good thing is probably that they open til 2AM, last call is at 1:30AM, but will not come back again :( read more

What on earth is going on, this used to be my favorite spot they had the hands down best pineapple fried rice with shrimp and wonderful eggplant but now they changed names and the food is not the same. It's so confusing, is it not always cool bbq anymore? Saw a sign for "special noodle house" and "soft opening" instead. So bummed. I wish I could have the original always cool bbq :( read more

Came here from San Francisco and decided to give this place a try. The interior of the restaurant is bright with neon lights and nice vibe. We ordered various skewers and two stone pots (beef and clams), along with dumplings. Food was very delicious for the price point. There's 2 of them in the back room so multiple parties can be on the simulator. $20 per person for an hour which isn't bad. Since I don't use the simulator, I don't have to pay, I just hang out with my friends. I usually just order a drink and hang out. You order at the bar and they will bring the food right to you. They have blacked out windows which could freak out some people, but there's nothing to freak out about. Staff is nice and customers tend to keep to themselves. I love seeing how there seem to be a good number of regulars because people seem to know each other there. Front desk is at the very back next to the bar and restrooms. They have a bar so you can eat and drink while playing pool. Each time we've gone lately, we haven't had to wait too long for a table. We've gone on off peak times and it was great. Service is great. Nachos are gigantic for just us two, but we made a good dent in it. They definitely hit the spot. We'll definitely be back.

The room options here are: *SMALL [housing 2-5 guests comfortably] *MEDIUM [housing 6-8 guests] *LARGE [9-15 guests] *VIP ROOM [16-30 guests] Costs per hour ranges depending on the room you decide on and the larger the room is, the service fees increase. TBH, there isn't much servicing happening beyond someone taking you to your room and handing off the mics and letting you do your thang. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I only wished I had know beforehand that food and drinks are okay to bring in on your own. There is a neighboring business where we ended up buying snacks and foods at but I would have loved a few bags of jerky and XX Hot Cheetos. There are specialty Asian flavors of Lay's potato chips and drinks for sale. Cold sodas, iced teas, sparkling flavored waters, red bulls, beer, Truly, sake, and soju are available but these are beyond overpriced. Spend at your own risk because things add up quickly. Rooms come equipped with tambourines and the staff will come in to give you a 5 minute warning of your time being up. 4 Stars overall, this was such a fun and memorable night!! I'd easily come back again but would be a lot more prepared in terms of the foods and drinks the next time around.

I recently had the misfortune of dining at Always Cool BBQ, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. Despite the name, the BBQ dishes I tried were lackluster at best, and some of the restaurant's practices left a lot to be desired. The biggest issue with Always Cool BBQ was the skewers, which were supposed to be BBQ but tasted more like they were fried. The meat was dry, and the flavors were lacking, leaving me wondering if the dish had even been cooked on a grill at all. As a BBQ enthusiast, I was incredibly disappointed and felt that the restaurant did not deliver on its promise. Adding to the frustration was the constant questioning by our server about whether we enjoyed the food. While I appreciate attentive service, the frequency with which she asked bordered on annoying and made me feel like my dining experience was being monitored. To make matters worse, some of the dishes required multiple orders, we ended up paying more than we anticipated and felt like we were being taken advantage of. We frequently dine at Always Cool BBQ. Food quality is excellent and the service is always outstanding. They have a wide variety of dishes - I really like their Mongolian beef and Kung Pau Chicken. The waitresses are friendly and very helpful. The one who we usually interact with is Wenwen - she does a great job in terms of recommending new dishes to us and she is very customer friendly. Okay, I have not tried this place yet, but I have been looking at the photos of the food which 90% of it looks quite good. But what in hell is up with the adding cupcake sprinkles to your food. This is the type of action that will make your grandma consider disowning you. I'm just going to give it a 3 because I have not eaten here yet, but these damn sprinkles make me extremely questionable to try it. read more

Adore this location Great food and service are provided. Great place to eat, drink, and watch a sporting event with friends Really tasty skewers were served. I adore the rotating coal barbecue method. Since it might be difficult to find a pleasant music venue, having a live music stage was a plus for me. Will undoubtedly frequent this location. read more

I was surprised by the portion size of the lamb Skewers, it's actually a decent size and generally larger than the other skewer shops I've been to. The other reason I like going to this place is that ambiance, they have cool street lights and AC, so you feel comfortable while eating. read more
