Amano is the place you've seen all over the internet for it's invention called the "fat baby" and others. As a foodie, I had to try it of course. I want to start of by saying the restaurant is tiny and that you should make a reservation if you don't want to wait or take your meal to go. We got lucky at 7pm on a wed to snag a table without a reservation. The restaurant is definitely cozy with just a few tables covered in butcher paper because they know you will make a mess. It's like an old Italian style place in New York in terms of its vibe before seeing their menu of twists and innovations. We started off with the rosemary lemonade, which I found super refreshing and unique. For an app, we got the chicken Alfredo ranch crazy rosemary knots. They were just what you want in a knot, they were pull apart and just a bit doughy inside with the crispy exterior. The sauce complimented them well but became congealed quickly at room temp. For our fat baby's, we got the Angel hair puttanesca and the fettuccine carbonara. I want to start off by saying that the bread was soft on the inside but slightly crisp on the outside. My Angel hair puttanesca had good flavor but wasn't up to the hype I was expecting. For me, the fettuccine carbonara lacked the creamy silky texture of a carbonara and the saltiness of the pancetta. You also don't need your own fat baby if you don't eat a lot. Share! Intrigued by their dessert menu, I got their Lemon Mascarpone Cheesecake and as a dessert fan, that's a winner. This eatery was everything that everyone claimed it to be! Of course I got their specialty. My amazing fettuccine was piled in a huge gigantic brioche bun. It was too much for me to eat, as a matter fact I ate off of it for several days making steak and salmon as a centerpieces and using the fettuccine as my sides. also had their delicious calamari. It was one of the best I've had here in Las Vegas with spicy peppers that added a zing to the dish. I cannot recommend this place. Important: Make reservations!!! This place is a hidden gem! Great food, great service and great presentation of the food (have your cameras ready!). Had reservations for 6:30, got there at exactly 6:30 and there were 5 groups all already waiting to be seated but since we had reservations we got our seats within minutes. The menu is simple and easy to read with normal pizzeria offerings but we were there for their specials!! I got the Alfredo special while my friend got the linguine in red sauce special. The fettuccine alfredo fat baby was good but you pay $18 for a small portion of pasta and a loaf of bread. My friend and I decided to share it and we cut it open to share. The hole for the pasta is only made for the top quarter of the bread, the rest is just a loaf of bread. Also, we had asked for chicken and only found two pieces of chicken. The fat babies truly live up to their name! A giant open end hero roll stuffed with loads of pasta and fillings and smothered in sauce. How can this not be delicious? We got the Fuhgeddaboudit Fat Baby and it was definitely enough food for 2 people. The pasta was extremely flavorful with a bit of a Cajun vibe, and the skewers of wings and sausage added a good amount of meat to the dish. The bread was soft and pillowy with a very crunchy crust, and it soaked up all of the leftover sauce from the pasta making it delicious. The restaurant is pretty small and they're usually fully booked every day so definitely make a reservation beforehand. Great location if you're staying at the Fairfield Las Vegas NW which is only 2 min. away on foot. They incorporate fried pumpkin into dishes, offer rice balls which are difficult to do properly, and have a superbly varied pizza menu. I went simple and ordered the meatball sub. They seat their last customer at 8:30P and do carry out until 9P. The table next to me ordered Fat Babies: cheesy, pasta-stuffed sandwiches that I might have been able to eat in my 20's, but I've got better sense now. They also have a Rosemary lemonade that sounds intriguing. I've had lemonade w/ rose water before (elsewhere) and adding a flavor twist like this to lemonade is usually a winner. My place setting was white butcher paper and there were lots of colored pencils there to keep me busy if I got bored waiting. That probably is a big winner for families with small kids.The staff was very friendly and helpful. The sub was excellent. I am no longer feeling sorry for myself for not staying at the Red Rock Casino further south. I have had Amano on my list of places to try and was excited to finally make a reservation. Unfortunately Amano does not live up to the hype and is very overpriced. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation time. I went to check in and let them know we were there whenever the table was ready. The guy doing the seating told me I was early. I said yes, about 10 minutes that we came from the other side of town and we were fine waiting for a table, we just didn't want to be late. He told me we would be the last seating for the evening so he guessed he could seat us because they already had our table ready!?!?!? This is strange since after we were seated at least four more tables were sat. Guess we weren't the last seating after all. So the first thing I noticed was the pricing. The prices on Amanos menu on their website is NOT accurate. Their prices have increased and the dessert specifically is very overpriced. So be aware of this before going. A slice of cheesecake is now $10.95! There were four of use and one person ordered the baked ziti Fat Baby, another went with Fettuccine Alfredo Fat Baby and two went with a Pizza Pie-Zoni to share. With the Pie-Zoni both the pizza and calzone come with cheese only. Extra toppings run $4.00 per topping!! The toppings for the pizza and calzone are separate. Meaning if you wanted pepperoni for both it would run you $8! The fettuccine Fat Baby lacked flavor. It was extremely bland Alfredo. The baked ziti Fat Baby was good but a lot of cheese. The pie-zoni was good but also lacked flavor and seasoning. They do not serve the pizza with Parmesan, peppers, garlic or any seasoning. So it's very plain and just bland. The sauce they serve on the pizza and as a dip for the calzone is bland and acidic. It tastes like it came out of a can. Some seasonings would go a long way. It's a quaint little place we found on TikTok by seeing the fat baby video. We were seated right away. We had to try the crazy knots as an appetizer and we each got a different flavor. I got the truffle mushroom and he got the Alfredo ranch chicken. They were both more than delicious. We devoured them before we could even take a picture. The whole reason we came here was so my husband could try the fat baby, but he upgraded to the big Texas pizza baby!! He literally ate on it for four whole days. I got the chicken parmigiana but switched out the spaghetti for the fettuccine Alfredo, and it was to die for! There was so much food it barely looked like we touched our food or what was on our plate, so needless to say we had tons of leftovers. The service was excellent. The waitress was super quick and always there to refill our drinks and ask if we ever needed anything. The food came out pretty fast as well. It didn't take very long for us to get the food and then of course we had to get dessert and tiramisu is my favorite so I have to try it every place I go to compare and let's just say it was really close to my top favorite. I will definitely be coming back here as soon as possible to try some different.
