    Apricot danish
    Shirley N.

Once again I popped in for a few breakfast pastries after lab work across the street. Items - * chocolate croissant * apricot danish * custard danish Took my pastries home and plated them. I had the apricot danish - it was apricot spread. Not an apricot fruit that I'm accustomed to. Went well with a cup of coffee. Total $13.25. Metered street parking or two hour residential street parking available.

I always like to check out different bakeries and buy at least one thing. I bought their nutella banana croissant. Never had a croissant with banana before and surprisingly it actually tasted good. I will have to try their other menu items next time. They have sitting areas so you can stay and chill if you wanted to. Service was regular.

We were in SF for a football match, and one of my favorite things to do is to visit local coffee shops during our away matches. Espresso: 4/5 Ham & Cheese Croissant: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 There was an early weekend crowd composed of lots of regulars and a few other first-timers. The space is small, but cozy. There's seating for about 15 people at small cafe style tables. While there's no seating outside, there are plenty of public places to enjoy your favorite beverage / baked good. There were several people working behind the counter, all were efficient and friendly, and they seemed to work really well together. My double espresso had the right temperature, good flavor, and a slight bitterness. The croissant would have been much better if it was fresh or at least warmed up. They didn't ask if I'd like it to be warmed, so I'm not sure if they provide that service.

    White chocolate macadamia nut cookie

This bakery was recommended to us by a friend. The store has 7 small tables and chairs for people who want to dine in. The cakes look so beautiful and inviting. We purchased a white chocolate macadamia cookie which was chewy and chunky in a good way. I would get this again. We also got the banana Nutella croissant and it's generously filled with Nutella inside along with a banana nut muffin which were also good but nothing special. Finally, I got the mini tart. I am a huge fan of fruit tarts. I really enjoyed the fruits but the crust was a little too soft and mushy for my liking. We also ordered the chicken salad sandwich and a roast beef sandwich. They were okay but the chicken salad sandwich definitely needs way more chicken. It was mostly bread. I would come by again if I am in the area but it's not something I would drive out of my way for.

I just happened upon this indie bakery when I was sauntering through West Portal and spontaneously found myself on Ocean Ave. This bakery was standing right in front of me just waiting for me to come in. Initially I thought it was a German-style bakery because I saw a dazzling array of cakes, in particular, the chartreuse princess cakes that looked like the ones at Schubert's on Clement (Photo 3). The vibe was not accidental as owner Keith Truong spent time training in European bakeries before opening his place in 1988. I could tell it was a neighborhood establishment because a constant stream of regulars kept rotating in here while I was hanging. I could've easily gone to town on any of the pastries and muffins on display, but I was able to show some restraint. Well, kinda sorta 'cause I got two items. One was the $3.75 Walnut & Cinnamon Rugelach. I must have a bit of Fran Fine in me because I couldn't help myself and slyly murmured "Mmm, good" when I bit into it. And since it was on the next tray, I got the $2.75 Raspberry & Chocolate Spiral (Photo 8). "Mmm, good". The small $3 cup of Coffee was the right warming lubrication for these dense goodies. This is definitely ambrosia I can return for. FOOD - 4 stars...rugelach like my mommala would buy AMBIANCE - 4 stars...good amount of seating in here SERVICE - 4.5 stars...the young server was particularly attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely worth another stop...is there a princess cake in the future of this princess? My how the mighty have fallen. Sadly the Brazilia was nowhere to be found so we ordered a slice of Capuchino to share -- not what I remembered... falls flat. I think they might have a new baker and it's not hitting the mark

Small, quaint, and bursting with edible masterpieces--that's Ambrosia Bakery. The staff move through the cozy space like seasoned dance partners, gliding past one another with easy familiarity. The pastry case alone is a hypnotic experience; you could lose track of time just admiring each delicate creation. We picked out more than a few to share, and every bite made it clear: the ingredients are fresh, the craftsmanship intentional, and the flavors genuinely elevated. They serve hot coffee and a thoughtful selection of teas to pair perfectly with whatever you choose. And then there's the star of the show--the princess cake. Mascarpone, sweet cream, and raspberry tucked between soft layers of white cake. It's pure bliss. Ambrosia Bakery is an absolute must-visit when you're in San Francisco.

I stopped by this small bakery on a weekend afternoon and it was such a pleasant experience from start to finish. The shop was semi-busy but everything ran smoothly the line moved quickly and the staff handled the rush with ease. The space itself was clean, bright, and welcoming which made waiting in line no problem at all. I ordered a few chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin cupcake, and a couple of slices of cake. Every single item was absolutely delicious the cookies were soft and buttery with just the right amount of chocolate, the pumpkin cupcake was moist and full of flavor and the cake slices were perfectly balanced and fresh. Overall, this bakery really impressed me. Great service, great treats and a comfortable atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area!

    Mocha chocolate cake

I usually pop in for the individual pastries but came in recently in the late afternoon and bought a delicious mocha chocolate mousse (Tri color mousse) cake. It's been a long time since I tried this cake. It was delicious. Hubby liked it so much he ate 2 slices. I had to restrain myself but it had a nice coffee and chocolate flavor with cream top layer. It was pricey though at $65. I plan to return to try the Princess and Fantasia cakes again. So glad to hear the head baker will be taking over the business when the owner retires in late 2028.

Cozy bakery near home. Glad to be able to support local business. My daughter was craving for a slice of princess cake. So after going to the local public library, we decided to take a trip here and treat ourselves. I must say the staff are all so friendly and professional. The place is kept clean. The cake was delicious. My daughter was satisfied and happy. I took home a slice of carrot cake and a slice of fantasia cake. Everything tasted delicious not too sweet and fresh too. Come give this place a try for yourself!!

    Double Cappuccino
    Issy V.

Ambrosia has some of my favorite cakes here, the Fantasia and the Horchata. Both of them are my go to for any celebration or if I'm trying to sweeten up a deal, if you know what I mean. Lately I've been coming here for the cappuccino and a cheese danish to get my morning started. Why do I pick Ambrosia time and time again, well first it the customer service here and they make a great cappuccino, the traditional way, and just the way I like it! To me a cappuccino has to be 25% steamed milk, 25% espresso, and 50% frothy foam. Always hits every time I'm here taking the morning in and chilling at a table planning out my day in my semi-retirement. Come see for yourself why I enjoy Ambrosia so much and buy a cake!

The fruit tart is to die for! It's filled with a delicious custard and fresh sweet fruits on the top. You can never go wrong with bringing it to a gathering!

    Raspberry Croissant
    Emily D.

I have not been to Ambrosia in years. Had an appointment near Ambrosia so decided to get a Raspberry Croissant that cost $5.25. I cut the croissant in half so I could see the raspberry filling. OMG look at the almost non filling! It was almost a plain croissant! No thanks; I expected a little more filling than what I got.
