Americano's is one of the best sandwich shops I've ever been too. They have a great variety of sand which options and all that I have tried have been delicious. The sandwiches are huge and make for a great value. I usually end up eating half and saving the other half for the next day. On the couple occasions that I did eat the entire sandwich I had to clear the rest of my day because I couldn't come out of the food coma. Tremendous sandwich shop! read more

I think I went here when they first opened and remember not being impressed. I recently saw an ad for the Salmon BLTA and had to give them another shot. Turned out to be one of the best sandwiches that I have ever had. It is pricey at $19 but the ingredients were of high enough quality and quantity was enough that I feel the price is fair. I might not eat here often due to the prices but I am excited to try what else they offer. read more

Sad to say, the quality has gone down over the years. The chicken marsala is very very salty these days. The calamari hardly has meat in it and feels mostly the batter and over cooked. not to mention, prices have really gone up probably trying to make up for covid losses. We definitely have cut down going here for takeout because of these. We'd like to support local businesses but not when costs are extra ordinary and the return has been going lower. read more

3rd time and last review unless something goes wrong :) 06/25/2018 Went back for lunch, but it was a late lunch 2:45pm or so, with my wife and son. We ordered, drinks bbq burger and a side of fries Regular Philly with Jalapeños A Tiger woods "as is" on dutch crunch. Now we have had the burger before and it was just as it was when we ate dinner, solid. We had fries, which again came hot and nicely seasoned, no surprises here. The wife last time we went for dinner said she would like to try the philly which she did this time. She said the meat was really tasty and it's probably the best one in Livermore. Wife thought that if they offered Swiss cheese it would have been that much better, but she enjoyed it and believes that so far they have not failed us yet! Def the place to go for a philly at this time! If you enjoyed the now ruined Philly at the Ale place, come here and order it, you won't be disappointed! I had what I had last time the tiger woods, but I wanted to try their dutch crunch (only 2 places I know of that can get dutch crunch and this is the best by far). Unlike other places Americano's dutch crunch is soft and enjoyable to eat, the other place that offers it in Livermore sometimes overcooks it or it's hard and tends to want to scratch up your mouth, not so here. So I enjoy their sweet roll and for a small change of pace, the dutch crunch is really good, on par with the sweet roll in terms of softness, but with the dutch crunch taste! And that Mob sauce.. ya that has a nice lil bite and really enjoy it. (wife wants to do their tuna with mob sauce next time). So ya, this place is a winner, people are nice and food is fantastic!! Loved it when it first opened but the food is not consistent. I loved the blue cheese wedge salad but the size and presentation is different every time. I ordered a sandwich with ciabatta bread and they served it on a french bead roll covered by paper wrapping. I was not told by the server they were out of Ciabatta bread. They just give you what they have on hand. The Pepsi use to be good but my last visit it was not good. The red onion and the produce is not always very fresh. Now with the new price gouging a small glass of Ice tea was 4.50. I use to be a big fan of this place but I probably will not go back. In the middle of the Pandemic, the prices at all restaurant were not elevated. Now they are all price gouging and I feel they are shooting themselves in the foot. What a delicious salmon dinner and Caesar salad! We had to pick up the food, but that went just fine. With the salmon came a delicious avocado dressing on the side. Some Parmesan cheese lit up the Italian bread pieces. We had water here at home, but we could have ordered a drink. Livermore has a gem in this restaurant. The cheesesteak sandwich is remarkable being so far from Philadelphia, and I still rave about the piccata. (Also, I play piccolo, so I know from "little" whether food or music.) That was one of the best sandwiches I've had in my entire life!!! I got their "Mr Fred" sandwich and it was so good! The staff there was super friendly and inviting. My wife and I were heading to a nearby restaurant when we noticed Americano for the first time. We went in to check out the menu and were very pleasantly surprised to find that it reminded us of the Italian food that we grew up on in New York City and Boston, which is impossible to find here in the Bay Area. The ambiance was very warm and familiar as well, especially with the red and white checkered tablecloths. And we learned from the waitress that the owners were from Montenegro and also cooked Italian in Boston - both of which are strengths in our book. So, we decided to give it a try. Our waitress, Kiara, was very friendly and took the best care of us that she was able. We noticed there was only one menu item with veal, but several items with chicken that can normally be ordered with veal in most East Coast Italian restaurants, so we asked if we could substitute. Unfortunately, Kiara informed us that substitutions are allowed, but since the owners weren't there, she wouldn't know how to price them. She suggested that we should come back another time to try their veal. Obviously, this wasn't Kiara's fault. If Kiara was afraid to make a management decision on her own, that's the fault of the owners. The owners should empower their employees to be autonomous and accommodating in their absence. We decided not to make a fuss about the veal, so we ordered chicken piccata and chicken parmesan. For both items, the menu makes a point to mention that the included pasta is served "al dente" (firm), which added to our excitement because authentic Italian pasta is always served al dente. Unfortunately, this was far from the case. Our pasta was downright mushy and very disappointing. As for the chicken piccata, there was way too much cheese. Traditional recipes for picatta don't call for cheese at all. It wouldn't be surprising to get a light sprinkling of fresh parmesan, but the piccata at Americano was swimming in shredded cheese. The flavor of the cheese wasn't good enough to improve the dish, and the texture ruined it for me. Also, the chicken itself was slightly rubbery in texture. The chicken parmesan was better than the piccata, but not by much. Same mushy pasta. Same rubbery chicken. The sauce was ok, but nothing close to what we expected from European chefs who also spent time cooking East Coast Italian food. The sauces back east are to die for. Sometimes literally. Have you ever watched The Sopranos? It's all about the "gravy." My wife and I really wanted to like this place. We were hoping to finally find NYC-style Italian food here in The Bay, which we would probably eat about once a week, as we did back home. To be fair, since the owners weren't there, we have to allow for the possibility that the food might be better when they are. But I'm afraid we'll never know. Aside from the very kind and attentive service by Kiara, there was nothing worthwhile to bring us back. read more

Delicious food and generous portions. We stopped by on a weekday evening, sat outside, and received terrific service from Alex. The sandwiches were big and could easily be split if you ordered any sides or want dessert. We ordered the Skinny Chicken and the Mr. Fred, an elevated pastrami. Both come with The Godfather sauce which is a yummy garlic herb spread. And to top it off, we got our son chicken strips and fries and these strips were not the standard frozen chunks you get at every restaurant, but freshly made crispy thin strips. We ordered Catering for our cooperate company party from Americano and it was an absolute delight. Vesna was so amazing - from helping us with our orders to helping pack the car, and great communication throughout the whole process. The food was absolutely delicious! When we picked up the order everything was hot and ready for transportation and everyone at our company could not stop talking about how delicious Americano's food was. The chicken marsala and rigatoni were top-notch, the best Italian food I have had since moving to Northern California. I'm a regular customer here. Let me begin by saying I've never seen the restaurant this busy before. I was helped by the owners son, quite tall, but a very nice young man. They were very busy and I had to wait about 20 min for my order which consisted of 4 #6's (Americano/The Italian sandwich) and a small garlic fries. I do recommend calling ahead! But even though I had to wait the owners son made sure everyone's orders were coming out as soon as possible.
