I had the sumac sunny side up which two fried eggs and added their soujack which is like a type of pepperoni. I chose a side of eggplant muttabl to go with it and it was great with the toast and pitta bread My partner had the half rotisserie chicken on top of a bed of onions and flat bread with a side of yoghurt sauce. If you're a Long Beach local foodie, I'm sure you have participated on the online debate of Ammatoli vs. Open Sesame... although there are significant differences between the two Middle Eastern restaurants, it's always a fun debate to participate in. I'm one who believes the latter is better. Food here is really good. When comparing the two, I'd give the edge to Open Sesame but I will say that the chicken is much better at Ammatoli. The spicy garlic lemon chicken is delicious and even their basic chicken kabob is juicer than my preferred Long Beach Middle Eastern restaurant. Service is great here. During my last visit, our server was super friendly and personable. Ambiance definitely sets this restaurant apart. The architecture is beautiful inside and on a nice day, it's nice to enjoy your meal on their patio. So why the three stars? My partner and I ordered iced tea. It was a hot day, we ordered refills but we were unaware that there are no refills and we were charged for 4 iced teas that came to 24 bucks... had we known, we would've just ordered alcohol because that is ridiculous. read more

Its Levantine cuisine was delicious - try the spicy hummus, which is only super spicy if you opt to dab the middle where the jalapeño is located. The pita is charged separately, and is beautifully made: very puffy and tender. We got the Family Brunch Time combo which came with all of these items: ($109.00) Shakshouka, fattet hummus, hummus with shawarma, foul, falafel 7pcs, mutabbal, served with pickles and olives. My favorites: hummus (and I never order hummus at restaurants), fresh pita bread, kibbeh, moussaka, batata harra, chicken rolls, kabobs. chicken, arayes, fattoush, ANY of the desserts but especially the date cake & the knafeh. The servers are always so friendly & have smiles on their faces. I'm not sure what happens with the hostesses though. You smile at them & they just give you a blank stare with no warmth & I've been several times so it's not just one person - it's all of them. We even tried to lighten the mood & joke around with them, it was giving nothing. They're very straight to the point: hi how can I help you? Let me seat you. The hostesses are the face of the restaurant & it's extremely important to start on a positive note but they're always so cold. I'm met a coworker for dinner. This restaurant is located in a restaurant heavy portion of Long Beach. The parking situation is a street parking or one of the parking garages in the area. There is one about a block or two along third Avenue that is free for the first two hours. We were sat down promptly after telling him about our reservations. We were immediately told that we have to be out of the table within 90 minutes. This is probably the most offputting thing about the whole experience, and it wasn't a big deal. The service was very nice and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was modern Mediterranean. It was quiet enough to have a conversation. We ordered some hummus, but oddly enough you had to order the pita separately. Both the pita and the hummus were good. I thought the hummus was extremely creamy in the best way possible. They gave a generous portion. I think the hummus would've been slightly more successful if it had a touch more salt and the chickpeas were crispy. The pita tasted like it was made fresh to order. I would be liked a tiny slather of salted butter on it but otherwise it was delicious. I ordered a borek and it was fine. We had an order of the crispy cauliflower which to me were just okay and a touch greasy. We ordered the areyes which were tasty but on the thin side. Lastly, we ordered the pistachio baklava. It was dry. My least favorite dish. It was also weird to see a champagne cork fly across the restaurant. I think that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Bottom line, would I go back? Yes. read more

My first time here and i wanted to try new things however their items in the pre fixe menu were not my cup of tea. First course was a mushroom soup, which reminded me more like a mushroom gravy second course was beet salad over yogurt, which kind of tasted like sour cream, not a fan of the third course, which was the main entrée you could choose between lamb chicken or a vegetarian option I chose the chicken which was a quarter piece of chicken over some kind of bread with caramelized onions and almonds on a side of yogurt, which I liked the most out of all the dishes, and my friend ordered the vegetarian option, which was apparently the vegetarian moussaka, which was very disappointing textures were mushy, and the flavor was bland the sauce that it came on the side with had a hint of like Louisiana hot sauce mix with some kind of creamy substance but the winner of all these was the dessert which was like a date cake, which came very warm at the bottom topped with a little vanilla ice cream and caramel bits on the top, which was absolutely divine. I will definitely come back again to try this dessert and other food items. Everything took a while to receive, but they were busy, but we also ordered something from their takeout menu, which is different from the regular menu that they have if you're dining in the difference between their takeout menu options is that it comes with rice and two other sides as well so we ordered the two skewers upgraded to one ribeye and one regular beef kefta kebab, taboulleh and spicy hummus as the two sides and this was absolutely exceptional. based on the quality of ingredients that they use here and their service I will definitely come back again in the future. I've eaten here before, but it was my boyfriend's first time. Our server, Pete (who was amazing btw), walked us through the menu and gave us some great recs. We went with the House-Made Pita with Mutabal, Fattoush, Palestinian Msakhan, and Sayadyieh. Plus, of course, their mint lemonade. Everything was incredible, but the pita, mutabal, and Msakhan were definitely the standouts. That pita comes out hot from the oven and it is truly next-level (I dream about it). Every dish was packed with flavor, and the timing of when everything came out was spot on. The vibe here is always so good. Dim lighting, gorgeous decor, and such a romantic, moody atmosphere. Whoever designed the space crushed it. I always end up looking around and admiring all the details. Even though it was packed, it never felt too loud and the music fit the vibe perfectly. It's some of the best I've had and it's freshly made but it doesn't already come included with a hummus order which is not something I'm used to. The steak and salmon were my favorites. We paid a little extra to have the salmon. The vermicelli rice was a delicious complement as were the hummus and salad. The hummus was so good we ate every last bit of it with their pita bread. I also had the baklava dessert and it was sweet, crunchy and yummy. Ammatoli for the win based off of their descriptive menu choices. We were able to be seated immediately. We live nearby and had always seen it but never ventured inside. Our waiter, Cameron, informed us that we lucked out because it's usually a 2 hour wait. He was amazing at guiding us through the menu and recommended quite a few amazing selections. My boyfriend recently placed a takeout order we were really looking forward to. When I bit into my chicken kebab, the texture immediately felt off.. very elastic and rubbery.. and clearly not what properly cooked chicken should feel like. I stopped eating it and called the restaurant to let them know. I was told to bring that piece of chicken back so it could be re-cooked. Given the price point, and the fact that it no longer felt comfortable to eat or bring back, this response was disappointing and not what I've come to expect here... This is the first issue I've ever had, but the way it was handled has made me hesitant to order takeout again... pretty disappointing. I've come here several times, and every visit has been a great experience. The ambiance has an upscale feel that's hard to find, especially for a halal restaurant. The staff is very knowledgable and always speak highly of the chef, which is a wonderful thing to hear. The food is consistently fantastic, with generous portions that are perfect for sharing. My favorite dishes are the rotisserie-style chicken, the ribeye skewer, and the knafeh. The food all feels clean and healthy. I prefer coming for lunch menu since it's cheaper and the sides are included; dinner on the other hand can get pretty expensive per person. Still, the quality of the food and overall experience make it worth it for special occasions. There are several free 2 hour parking structures which are usually open, but if they're closed/reserved for a private event it can be really hard to find street parking. read more

We came here for Valentine's Day and had a great experience. We were served by Mary, and she was really nice and attentive. We got the spicy hummus with chicken shawarma, which was 5/5. The pita bread was fresh and also 5/5. Next, we had the fries, which were also 5/5. We had the seared salmon, which was good, but I felt it was a little underseasoned. The mango salsa underneath was tasty. 3.5/5. We also had the spicy garlic rotisserie chicken, which was good. The drumstick was moist, but the breast was a little dry. 3.5/5. Lastly, we had the ice cream, and it was a 6/5--completely decadent. We both really enjoyed it. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. It was nice to eat here for Valentine's Day--they even gave us a rose. I would recommend going here and would probably return specifically for the hummus, pita bread, and ice cream. read more

My friend picked here and her taste hasn't been on par lately, but this place was amazing!! From the servers down to the crumb of food! Top notch service for us. We went with the family meal where it's the 6 kebabs and the 2 sides, and some other stuff. We got 2 orders of pita bread, some fries, and 1 of each dessert. The meats were cooked perfectly, nice juicy chicken and medium steak, none of the meats were dried out, which was awesome. The basmati rice was amazing by itself! The hummus was our absolute favorite, we scraped out every last bit! The atmosphere here was very welcoming and warm. We never felt rushed or anything. We were there 51 minutes after close, mainly because no one asked us to leave lol. I highly recommend this place for anyone in the area! All the desserts were exquisite!! read more
