Pistachio twist
Dom G.

Such a nice neighborhood bakery introduced by a friend. Have been coming here with the kids post swim lessons which has been very enjoyable. Straight forward ordering system - there is also a seating area at the back. Service has been nice and friendly. They have kindly heated up my purchases when requested.

Amy's Bread came through, with flying colors, on this one. Stopped by to purchase Amy's Sourdough Chocolate Twist Bread. Ohhhhh, boy.....it is SO GOOD. I brought some back for coworkers and it was justifiably gone within single digit minutes. Aside from the sourdough twist, they also have the chocolate twist with the sweeter, and less crunchy, challah bread. The staff are very helpful and they even set the order aside for me, which I highly appreciated. If you would rather enjoy your purchase at Amy's, they have a seating area, at the rear of the shop. Amy's has a lot more to offer, but if the other items are anywhere close to their chocolate twist.....you will need to stop by and enjoy their great line of sweets and goodies.

Right off 9th Avenue, but it always feels like a quiet respite from the city noise. Great service. Currently enjoying a devil's food cupcake with chocolate icing and a cappuccino. Absolutely delicious!

Nice atmosphere. Kinda dry, non descript pastries. I got a dinner roll and blueberry muffin. I was walking and eating so not pictures unfortunately. It was hot outside and even hotter in the cafe. Wanted to like them more cuz it's so cute out/inside this place!

Lots of pastries including desserts, bagels, coffee bread, etc. also sold are breakfast sandwiches on croissants and bagels. I tried their everything bagel with butter. Their bakery is super cute and service is fast and friendly.

My husband and I swing by Amy's every weekend to pick up our sourdough for the week. We used to get our bread from Whole Foods, but we found that the flavor and freshness is much better here for the price. My only complaint is sometimes the crust is crunchier/chewier than other times (I prefer when it's crispier), but I get that is hard to control for depending on the humidity/temperature outside. Every now and then, we decide to treat ourselves to a sweet treat. My go-to is the Pain au Chocolat, which is flakey and buttery with a good amount of chocolate in the middle - one of the best Pain au Chocolat that I've had in midtown. My husband usually gets the coconut cream bar w/ chocolate chips. The bar is super coconut-y and rich with the perfect amount of chocolate (the coconut doesn't get overpowered). It's a little too sweet for me to want an entire one, but I usually steal a bite because they're absolutely delicious. Amy's never disappoints and we'll be back next weekend to pick up more bread!

This well decorated small baked goods retailer has a variety of breads, sweet and savory baked goods, and beverages (teas, coffee). Today I had only a kitchen sink cookie and disappointingly it was just meh. Seriously, for the foot traffic you would think that it would be exceptional and maybe the other baked goods are but the cookie itself not so much. The two guys working there were a bit impatient and snarky when an inquiry was made about whether the cookie was hard or soft. Based on this one interaction I'd take my business elsewhere. Too bad because the ambience feels really cool, cozy, and a place like you'd wanna hang out read a book drink, coffee, and socialize.

I was looking for a bakery near my hotel in NYC with a bunch of pastry/dessert options and Amy's fit the bill! It's a small, cute little bakery cafe with drink options, sandwiches, breads, cakes, and more sweets! When you first walk in you are met with the bakery case and if it's busy I could see this getting a little cramped but I went mid-afternoon and there were only 2-3 people waiting in line. The line moved fast and I told the cashier what I wanted -- it was packed up quickly and I was out of there! You can definitely sit in their seating area in the back to enjoy your food and drink. They have a good amount of tables but I took mine to go. And they packaged it nicely -- the cupcake has its own individual plastic box so that it does not get ruined during transport. Both baked goods I had tasted awesome! They were fresh and just sweet enough. Definitely hit the spot for what I wanted. I would recommend this and would come back here to try other items or a coffee drink.

Classy and nicely decorated bakery that also have space for seating. They offer a range of breads, as well as sweet bakeries, and coffee/tea. Perfect for a weekend breakfast with friends. I got the sesame bagel which tastes fresh. Pricing wise, they are more reasonable than many other places you will find in town.

Bacon Egg and cheese on sesame seed bagel and a PBJ bagel
Robert D.

Nice little bakery with some seating. We got the PBJ bagel, the bacon egg and cheese bagel, the sticky bun, a pain au chocolat (chocolate filled croissant), and the sourdough chocolate croissant. I was looking forward to trying the salmon and cream cheese and also the black and white cookie, but they didn't have any. Everything was great and tasted fresh. The sticky bun said it was the best in NY. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was very close. The PBJ bagel was just okay. The bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel was super good and I highly recommend trying. My favorite thing we got was the sourdough chocolate twist. It was soft, chewy, with a slight crunch and just the right amount of dark chocolate. Man oh man was it tasty! The pain au chocolate was very flaky, but had almost no chocolate filling. I'd pass on that one if we went again unless we got hot chocolate to go with it. The best part is that it was walking distance from our hotel.

Sticky bun

I've been sampling from various pastry shops in nyc, and this is definitely one of my fave. Almost everything I got from here was fire. They are known for their sticky buns, which I thought was just ok compared to everything else they offer. 1. Sticky bun- (3.5/5) tastes pretty similar to a cinnamon bun but maybe less sweet? Pretty dense, not too sweet, but also nothing too special? 2. Almond brioche toast- (4.5/5) this is really good! Subtle almond taste. Fluffy bread. Tastes and smells divine. What more can one ask for 3. Coffee cake (5/5)- I love coffee cakes, and this one is exceptional! 4. Carrot cake-(4/5) Very rich and creamy. First few bites were really good, but can be a bit too rich after the first few bites. I do like their other items more

I see The Pantry is vacant in the morning. Possible to sit there when the bakery fills up?

There are only few tables on the back. And it is a small bakery. But worth it.

Does the carrot cake have raisins? If so, is there a way to get them without?

Thank you for your interest in our carrot cake, it does not contain raisins.

I was pleasantly…read moresurprised to find out they had a location in New York City, so I obviously had to give it a try. There are a few locations, but I decided to visit this one because it was the most convenient for getting to and from home. I got there around 7:00 PM, which felt a little close to closing time since Google said they close at 9:00 PM, but it wasn't busy at all. In fact, I was only the third customer to place an order. I ordered the La Summer sandwich and added pesto. After sitting down and taking my first bite, I immediately understood the hype. Without a doubt, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time. I'm not even a huge sandwich person when it comes to subs and deli meats, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The ingredients paired together perfectly, and you could still taste each one individually. The only thing I'd change next time is the meat. I had no idea prosciutto was a type of ham, but honestly, it didn't even taste like ham to me. It was sliced paper-thin, slightly salty, and worked surprisingly well with everything else. Next time, though, I'll probably add salami just to see how it compares. Overall, this sandwich was a solid 10/10, and I will absolutely be back--whether it's to try a different sandwich or, if we're being honest, order the exact same one again with salami added. I will say it's on the expensive side, but that's New York City for you. Apparently, all of the ingredients are flown in from Italy. After tax and tip, I paid a whopping $28 for a single sandwich. That said, it was incredibly filling and definitely kept me satisfied. The workers were also really nice and accommodating, and the indoor seating was beautiful. The atmosphere felt like a fancy Italian café, complete with couches and artwork throughout the space. I wish I had taken pictures, but honestly, I was too busy enjoying what might be the best sandwich I've had in years.

The menu inside breaks down all of the sandwhiches, you roll up to the deli counter when they say next, spill out your order (add/remove stuff to your order) and you're done. Be PREPARED this Sammie has some chili honey liquid /oil sauce they put on it and it's tasty but it's a lot. We got the limonata and mandarino to drink and the la toscana and la paradiso for our sandwiches. They are massive so prepare for leftovers. La Toscana- The foccacia is soft and fluffy. Someone order a Hot Italian? Here I am…read more The legendary Florentine sandwich shop achieved global fame by earning some of the highest praise in food journalism for its massive, fresh-baked schiacciata sandwiches. Google their name and "best" and get hundreds of hits, but the majors who crowned them "best sandwich" title include Saveur Magazine, the big one touted by the family; Eater NY, ranking La Paradiso the most elite Italian sandwich outside of Italy; Las Vegas Weekly, who crowned them "Home of the world's best sandwiches"; TripAdvisor, for whom the Italian original is the most reviewed eatery with a near perfect rating; and The Infatuation NYC guides who promise the execution of the crispy, airy schiacciata bread completely justifies the hype. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). Were they life-changing? No. But I rank Paradiso a 8.8 and Hot Italian a 10. And because everyone is hard-working and everything is so freshly prepared and cut, it's a class act. They should seriously make a sign that says, "Can't decide? Get two!" and then give me free sandwiches on my yearly trips for the idea.

Still, after seeing plate after plate come out to nearby tables, I decided to give it a try. What a surprise. It was a huge portion of fresh white meat chicken with a light coating and a perfectly balanced sauce, served piping hot. We all chose different sandwiches and they were ready pretty fast. Since the shop itself is not huge, we landed a small space at the window bar with two stools and some standing room. After being in a car and on a flight and in another car all morning, we weren't mad about the standing part. We were all able to share and sample each sandwich, and honestly, we were not disappointed. We were all full and happy when we weren't finished, so what more could we want for a relatively quick NYC meal?
