This was my first time here. I have a nail place that I go to regularly, But I work nearby and wasn't going to be able to go to my regular spot so I took a shot in the dark and gave this place a try. I came to get an acrylic refill and a pedicure. They did my pedicure and Refill at the same time at the pedicure chair which I thought was a little bit sketchy, so right off the bat I was worried, but the nail technician was super patient and really took her time doing my acrylics (almond shape). By the time she was done the shape was just as perfect as the place I normally go to, I was very pleased! 4 stars only because the pedicure could've been better (skimped on the massage and nail polish was kinda chunky). Me and my friend wanted to get our nails done. I came from Vegas to visit her so I didn't know any good salons. We were looking at many different salons and stumbled across this one. She also burned my forehead with the wax and kept going after I said it was too hot. Also, she got multiple drops of wax in my hair and didnt say anything about it. This is my go to nail salon! I took my mother-in-law here once and now this is her go to place as well! Even though I moved away from the area, I still drive 40 min just to see these ladies. Amy is the salon owner and she is always sweet! One time, my mom, who was visiting from Brazil, came here (they knew it was my mom) and her Brazilian credit card wasn't working so she couldn't pay because didn't have cash. I went in the next day and paid for it, no problem. I love that they know who I am, my mom, my kids, my mother in law, etc. I have two advices: 1. Call before you go, they are always busy! 2. Unfortunately, some of the newer girls are not as good as the veterans so if you want to be safe ask to get your nails done with Cindy, Nicole, Diane or Amy. read more

I took my hunny here on his bday for his first ever mani-pedi and got a manicure for myself. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 20 mins before they started working on him. He is still raving about the service and has decided we should make it a regular thing. As for my manicure, I couldn't be happier! I got color changing polish - so fun! It's been 2 weeks and other than growing out, my nails look as good as the day they were done. There is no chipping or cracks, and the tips are just barely starting to wear. This place used to be the best. I loved coming here. My partner and I would come and get pedicures & manicures together once a month. But they now have staff, maybe new or maybe I just never got them before, that literally have no idea what they are doing. I came in today to get a manicure and pedicure and although the pedicure wasn't perfect (she literally did not rub my feet at all, which is the only reason I even get pedicures really) she did do a good job on the nails and is good at her job. She just needs to be taught how to give better massages. The manicure, however, was horrific. Done by a younger woman with long reddish hair. I would have walked out if I wasn't stuck in the pedicure chair. It was by far the worst manicure I have ever gotten. So bad in fact that I can only describe it in many displeased bulletin points: -they told me after sitting down and starting that my chair didn't work so no bubbles/no back massage -She left my nails jagged after filing them -she didn't soak them in anything but water -She did not massage my hands AT ALL, I would have paid 10 more dollars for her to put any freaking amount of lotion on my hands. They were so dry and all I could feel was the dust from the filing. It made the whole experience so horrible. -She didn't put any oil or anything on my cuticles my hands look ashy and disgusting - She did a terrible job at painting my nails, the edges are all bare -AND what nail polish she did get on my nails was clearly bad. It was way too thick and should have been thrown away, it looks like play dough on my finger nails -She had to have known I was unhappy but didn't check in with me at all. -the last thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was that they were all very clearly talking about me to each other because they all separately kept looking at me and laughing at my leg hair. (Except for the woman giving me the pedicure she was very quiet, polite and nice. She was great really besides the massage) Needless to say I will never be coming back here again. It sucks, because I loved this place, it's been my go to spot for years but I can't throw my money away here anymore. I really hope you can figure out the issues you all are having, get some better training, and work through them. You all used to be so great. read more

Decided to try this place because I was in the area and didn't want to drive out to my usual place. I got a shellac manicure and was disappointed. The woman was very sweet but I just wasn't happy. I ended up having smeared nail polish on my cuticles, even the next day. I would have appreciated a cleaner look. The place I normally go to charges the same amount and I think they area little more detail oriented. Sorry to say I probably won't be coming back. read more

Been doing my nails for over 20 years so I know what to look for. Customer Service, quality in product and A pedicure that will leave your feet like NEW! That is ALL AMY! I have my own long nails which would not be long if I didn't have Amy. She started with tips and when they became long enough she soaked my nails and gently removed tips and I have my own nails with gel over. If a nail breaks SHE SCULPTURES the nail by hand so I don't have to wear a tip :D If you choose to have a special treatment for callous she only charges $5.00 and after rubbing the stuff on places a plastic bag over it to intensify the callous remover. The ladies are super nice, and do a great job. They don't rush, but they don't take too long. My pedicure is on easily week 3 right now and they look like I just got them done. I don't live in San Jose anymore, but whenever I do come home to visit my parents I always make sure to stop in at Amy's to get my nails done by Nicole! She's amazing and so friendly. I was hooked after my first experience with her. I randomly went in since this place is near my house and decided to get a pedicure. While getting my pedicure I expressed that my lower back was hurting and that I might be getting sick. Nicole stopped her foot massage, went in the back and got menthol oil (or something of the sort) and started massaging my feet with it. I couldn't believe how much it helped me and that someone would be so kind to do that! Not to mention, I was so happy with my nails. Since then, I've moved, but every time I come home I come to Amy's and see Nicole and leave with beautiful nails and a great experience. My last experience at Amy's has compelled me to write this review (I haven't written a review on Yelp in a long time) but excellent customer service deserves the praise. My mom has never gotten her nails done in her life and after breaking her hip earlier this year her toes needed some serious TLC! I decided to take her to Nicole. I was greeted with such a happy smile and I explained my mom's situation to Nicole. She took the time to help my mom walk into the salon from the car. Considering she can't walk too far, Nicole took the time to create a makeshift spa for my mom by the chair closest to the door so she wouldn't have to hop up into a chair (it would be too hard.) Nicole was so gentle and understanding and ended up doing a lovely job with my mom. I can't speak for others but I've always had a great experience with Nicole at Amy's salon. I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure with french tips, and they did a great job. They're super detailed and they really take their time to ensure that your nails are perfect. The girls there are all very friendly and make you feel comfortable. I was very happy with my gel manicure; My tips were left long enough, and they were all even without me having to be nit-picky. I enjoyed the pedicure and they successfully removed the callouses I had on the heels of my feet for $5 extra. I do wish they offered the hot stone massage and sugar scrub like this one place I used to go to in Mountain View, but I can live without it. read more

I had the worst manicure of my life here. The lady painting my nails did a shockingly bad job. My nails looked a total mess - polish on my cuticles, uneven color, missed sections of the nail, etc. It literally looked like a pre-schooler had tried to paint them. I kept showing her the areas that needed fixing but eventually just gave up and left without tipping. I've actually never done that and i'm not even that picky about my nails. I had my nails done by a really young girl wearing a crop top and high waisted shorts. She was in such a rush to do her coworker's nails (the coworker was another young girl, heavy set), that she completely left my nails cut unevenly and jagged and looking all powdery from whatever stuff she was using. I asked for no polish so I guess that's an excuse to half-*ss the entire manicure? She sloppily did the cuticles and cut my nails (Helen Keller could have done a better job in all honesty), and then hopped over to the station where the other girl was waiting eagerly. She didn't say a single word to me the entire session, and also had "resting b*tch face" that matched her attitude. I asked someone else for a nail file and was visibly pissed, but she continued doing her friend's nails and didn't say a word to me. I spent 20 minutes making my nails look somewhat decent with the nail file whilst I waited for my mom to get her nails finished by Diana. The reason for two stars instead of nothing is because of Diana. My mom has followed her for well over a decade and has nothing but good things to say about her pedicures. My mom has continued to go see Diana and says she hasn't seen the other two girls since. Hopefully they are no longer employed here. I would also like to mention that I got a pedicure by Amy and that was good, but her reaction to my complaints about the girl was "oh, sorry". Yeah, I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

I went here because my other nail salon was closed. I got a pedicure and manicure - just a regular manicure no shellac - and it took over two hours. The girl that did the work did a good job but was just entirely too slow. There was another girl in there that sat down after me that had a pedicure and full set put on and she was done before me. My pedicure was really nice but the technician doing my feet was a little rough. My technician won me over the first time I went after having had my nails done not so well by another place. I was getting my car serviced and had a couple of hours to fill so I decided to get a mani/pedi across from the dealership. I don't do this often-it's been over a year since my last one-and my feet were extremely dry and cracked. Cindy offered a treatment for $5 extra and I decided to try it out. I can't remember my feet ever being this soft! She did a fabulous job and spent a very long time on them! Maggie did my manicure and also did a beautiful job. Why didn't I know of this place sooner. Came here during the 4th holiday because everyone else was closed. I know yelpers suggest making a reservation, but we decided to try because there was pretty much no other options and we desperately needed a mani and pedi. They were busy when we got there so we were willing to wait. Wasn't a super long wait, maybe 15 mins at most. When they finally sat us, I went first then my husband about 10 mins later. They thanked us for waiting and then they got super busy and had to turn away walkins. Ok they didn't turn them away, just suggested they come back later. Everyone was nice and they even offered me pandana waffles that they were going to make. There was a mishap with the batter that nixed the waffles but it provided for a good laugh. My lady did a really thorough job with my mani/pedi. and my husband enjoyed his as well. Yes my husband gets his nails done. A little pampering never hurt anyone and your hands and feet look clean. And his lady took her time to ensure it was done well. And I don't mean she was slow, she was just thorough. I think I found my go to place for my manicure needs. read more

Went with my friends to get our nails done in preparation for my birthday party and I had a really good experience! I didn't catch the name of the technician who worked on me, but she did a really great job. She took great care in shaping my nails and making sure that everything was filed correctly, buffed down and just plain perfect! It was really nice to have someone just take their time to do my nails. My usual nail salon has been really into rushing their customers lately so I've been kind of turned off by that.
