For the past decade, I have have made frequent stops at this bakery and have also made it a point to order a Dobash cake every year for my Birthday. It so happens that they decided to alter the original recipe and put that cake to waste. Apposed to it having a signature dobash pudding, they ended up filling the cake with the poorest quality of chocolate... almost as if it had been from a nesquik squeeze bottle.. After that first bite I knew this cake had to be returned at once. When I called, I was quickly transferred to the manager. He requested that I send photos of the cake to confirm my side of the story and to my complete amazement, he found the cake to look just fine and insisted that I take the cake back so they could further examine it before they even consider returning my money! How's that for "the customers always right." That did not sit well with me but still went forth to comply with his request. I drove 22 miles in traffic just to show up and get examined by an employee. She took my cake to the back (their baking kitchen) and had a taste party of 1. She came back and let me know that it for sure was not made correctly and left it at that with only one statement: I'll be returning your money ! I drove endless miles in a time period where gas prices are out of this world and I didn't get a single "I'm sorry!" How about "I'm so sorry, can we offer you a single pastry for the huge inconvenience?" Nothing of that sort came out of this company but bitterness for gaining a loss through the ingredients That went to waste. Sure, I guess it's R.I.P since they delivered the worst cake ever presented to mankind but I will say that they lost a true customer. Thanks for nothing Amy's. read more

Amy's pastry is like a friendly neighborhood bakery. The bakery was roomy and clean. The best part of this bakery was the great service. It reminded me of Porto's bakery minus the crowd. I was supposed to take a number to get service but I didn't need it. I looked confused and purposedly didn't take the number because I wasn't ready to order. A sweet lady greeted me and took her time to explain their best sellers and the prices. Ordered large mexican hot cocoa, chocolate canolli, chocolate chips horn and chocolate bundt. Wow I didnt realize I ordered chocolate everything. Large Mexican hot cocoa ($2.50): this hot cocoa was comforting and delicious. Not sure what they added to the cocoa but I tasted honey. Chocolate canolli ($1.95): the canolli looked so good but it was just okay. Choc chips horn ($1.80): this was one of their best sellers. I didn't care for it. Chocolate bundt ($2.75): yea I didnt like this either. $5 minimum for credit card purchase and there's an ATM machine if you prefer paying cash. Someone in this bakery loves to post signs. I saw so many signs inside and outside the bakery. There were so many signs: no cell phone, no checks, christmas hour, $9.90 pumpkin pie, etc. 3 stars!! They would have gotten five stars if it wasn't for a mistake they made that would have messed up the whole bridal shower. We asked for light pink they gave us super dark Elvis Presley car dark pink. They apologized and gave us half our money back. And the taste, of course, gave them the other two stars. I first heard of Amy's Pastry years ago because of a friends birthday party. They have a lot of different choices and flavours for birthday cakes. I stopped by this location with my mom one day to check out the place and found it to be pretty nice and friendly. If you are like most people that get bored of just eating regular bread from the supermarket you can try this place out and they have lot's of different items to choose from. With reasonable prices. This isn't a fancy place but it does the job well and you can tell from the variety of selection you can find almost anything you wan and could eat during a breakfast, lunch or dessert. So after a nightmare of DMV experience I decided I needed to eat anything before I fucking killed someone, lol. This place is down the street from the DMV and looked more appealing to me than the Carl's Jr in the parking lot. The place is super nice and clean, and everything looks delicious! After reading a few other reviews from fellow yelpers I decided to try a red velvet cupcake and a fruit tart. I also tried a Tropical Tango smoothie, which was $4.00 which I thought is a little pricey, but it was good, so whatever. The fruit tart was so delicious!!!! All of the fruit was so yummy and fresh, nothing was soggy or old. Also, the pie crust and cream were very tasty, and not too sweet or overpowering. The red velvet cupcake was also very delicious, I don't think bad cupcakes exist! Well, except for that shitty one I had at Canter's last week, hahaha. "Omigosh, it's all sugar in here!" said my diabetic Mom. This was what she said the whole time we were in here checking out the pastries. She almost ruined the moment for me. Trust me, I was hoping she waited in the car while I run in and grabbed some macarons, but she followed me in, lol! I saw Dave H.'s review of this place and just had to check it out, especially since I was over in Montebello today. Plus, I saw macarons from other Yelpers and that's what also prompt and peeked my curiousity. Despite the sugary comments, I knew my Mom was eyeing their delicious Strawberry tart cakes and kept saying "Oh, maybe we should get one for your brother's bday." We would have, but we had other errands to run. However, if we didn't, we would have gotten it. Then again, we can always get it next week for his actual birthday, lol! My mom ended up getting the apple turnover, which was $0.80 and the size of a three tennis balls can. The apple filling was delicious and the pastry flake was crisp and held nicely without shattering all over the place in my car, yay! They also have a pineapple one. I got a Strawberry tart and two macarons. Loved the Strawberry tart - the strawberries were large, sweet and luscious with that glazed that coated it. Inside had the custard Filling and the crust was soft and perfectly round. I forgot how much that was. The strawberry macaron was ok. This one had more strawberries than the one over at Lette macarons in Little Tokyo. Though the shell was way chewy and shattered on first bite. The filling was at least smooth, creamy and a little tart. My mom didn't like this one. She said that this mac tasted like it was sitting out there too long. Also, it was smaller than the raspberry one. The raspberry mac tasted better and it was bigger. This one didn't shatter on first bite and was sweeter and lighter. Of the two, I dig this one. They didn't have any good macaron flavors. They also had pistachio, lemon - lime, Coconut and chocolate and another one I forgot, lol! Service was quick and friendly. Upon entering, make sure you grab a ticket number to ensure no one cuts you. Their bakery is an explosion of colorful treats - though the smell didn't hit me right away. I absolutely hate places like this because I don't know where to start and I don't know when to stop! Everything you see just looks that good, now while this place ain't no Porto's.... I really don't have much to gripe about either, on an up note you won't have to deal with those crazy lines.... just make sure you grab a number for your turn. Coffee is good. Service is ok depending who you get. Pastry are predictable and nothing exciting or wow about them. Cakes are the same very simple basic flavors. Ordered a babyshower cake from there and when I went to pick it up they didn't have it and I ordered it well in advance. So had to manage and get someone else to pick up since I had to go set up. When they brought the cake to the party it was obvious that it was done rushed one side was messed up and it was too late to take it back to get fixed. When I called to complain I had to talk to three people and each time I had to re-tell what happen and in the end there was no solution they did not take any responsibility on what happen. Walking into Amy's Pastry, I was utterly in awe of the massive array of sweets and goodies on display. My jaw dropped upon entering. The store space is absolutely HUMONGOUS and there is lots of eye candy to see ;) (I'm talking about all the baked goods, people!) I came in to pick up a custom made birthday cake and my eyes immediately lit up at the hundreds of baked goodies sitting so pretty in their window display. They literally have EVERYTHING you could ever imagine. French pastries: cream puff, apple tart, Creme brûlée, cannoli, meringue, tiramisu, macaron, handmade truffles, croquembouche (pastry balls piled high into a cone) Many cake and cupcake flavors: coconut, carrot, cookies n cream, cheesecake, lemon chiffon, truffle mousse, red velvet, rum, Black Forest, strawberry shortcake, rum, German chocolate. And so much more!!! Bread and bakery items: corn rye, pumpernickel, baguette, sourdough, marble rye, rolls, brownies, turnovers, Danishes, cookies...the list could go on.... But by the time I get there, which is in the evening, most of their goodies are gone so you have to get there early if you want to pick from a good selection. I love Amy's!!! But today I was a extremely disappointed. I order a cake for a coworker bday to be picked up 2 days later. I told the lady helping me oh I want a cake (just like this one it was on display )with the 5 shades of pink which she wrote on the order sheet. When I come by 2 days later the entire cake is peach. Still a beautiful cake but not what I ordered. The supervisor helping me was not very customer friendly and I don't think she did anything to help solve the problem. Not an apology at all. I discovered Amy's when I was doing my student teaching back in 2006. The teachers I worked with always brought their tasty treats to staff meetings and birthday celebrations. Since then, I've been going to Amy's for a variety of different reasons, mainly for cakes and pastries. When you walk into Amy's there is a showcase of different confections on display. I've had the pleasure to of partaking in their éclairs, cookies, berry tarts, and cream puffs. My absolute favorite are their individual mini cheesecakes with that come with a large strawberry on top. I like to get a variety of sweets and take them to gatherings to give family and friends a chance to sample a variety of Amy's goods. Cakes are another one of Amy's specialties. They can customize any cake to your specifications without any problems. My latest cake experience with Amy's was a delightful one. I ordered a very unique scary cake for a friend's birthday. The woman that helped me out on the phone offered many suggestions including the size of the cake, optional filling, and decorations. I ended up with a cake full of scary pumpkin faces and blood dripping down the side. The chocolate cake with butter cream filling was very delicious without being too sweet. A 9-inch round cake served about 15 people generously. Other cakes that I've ordered from Amy's include: Chocolate Layer, Carrot, Red Velvet, and Lemon. If you have a specific occasion you're getting a cake for, Amy's will do their best to meet your needs. I usually call with a few days advanced notice, but I've also called a full day before my party and they've been able to take care of me without any problems. My five-star rating for Amy's is well-deserved and I will continue to call them for every one of my pastry and cake needs. read more

After browsing though all their offerings- fruit tarts, tiramisu, croissant, mousse cakes, etcetcetc, I decided on the mango mousse cake. There are no price tags on anything, and the mango mousse turns out to be close to $4. A little expensive considering the portion of it. The mango mousse cake was delicious! There's three layers to the whole thing- mango jelly, mango mousse, and sponge cake. They did a good job in keeping the layers sticking to each other and keeping the level of sweetness just right! Really, it wasn't much of a difference from the good mango mousse you get at Asian bakeries.. but taking into account of the friendly service and clean environment, I give it 4 stars. read more

I love getting my French macarons from Amy's Pastry. The staff is friendly and patient when you're placing the order. I always end up asking what flavors of macarons they have available. There is so many tempting pastries to order. The reason why I like this bakery is because you can order small cakes. If you need to order a tiny cake fit for 4-6 people, then this is your place. The cake is always a hit at work when I take them from here. The last cake I ordered was vanilla with mango crème filled and the icing was whipped cream. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I've bought the carrot cake, chocolate with chocolate mouse and Amy's delight cakes here all in a period of two weeks. All three cakes were delicious. My guests commented the cakes are moist and the frosting is just right, not too sweet. After leaving the Bakery this past Saturday to drive home while trying to get out of the parking lot one of the car driver was speeding and almost hit my car causing me to break so hard my cakes fell over onto the floor of the SUV. One of the cake fell upside down - I was so mad. The frosting and writing on both cakes were disfigured. I brought the cakes back and asked Riley if they could fix the frosting and writing. Riley asked the manager (Hope), next thing I know they were getting two new cakes for me. I asked how much I owe them and Riley said don't worry about it. WOW!!! I wasn't expecting that at all. Amy's Bakery is the best - their cakes are delicious and the customer service is superb. I will definitely be coming here for all my cakes. I got a cake from here for my husband's birthday. It was the chocolate one with chocolate filling, chocolate frosting & cherries on top. When I got home I discovered that a cherry was missing. The cake was also on the dry side & the frosting was hard & crumbly. It also didn't taste as good as a bakery cake should. I expected better from a small cake that cost nineteen dollars. A cake I previously bought here also wasn't that good. I bought a cake last year from Vons that was cheaper & better than the two I got here. There is something about their damn cookies with sprinkles that have been keeping me going back for years. Look, the pastries, breads, and cakes are delicious, but those cookies with sprinkles have saved my life. Heard about it from a friend who said it was so good. I love that parking is not an issue. The plaza is under renovation now and the place is hard to find if you are looking for a big sign. Just know it is right at the corner by Bally's gym. Price very reasonable. Very spacious inside. If you have a craving for bread or cake, come here! Quality may not be the best. But heck, for the price I don't think it is that bad. Cupcakes are $1 for chocolate and plain and $1.50 for red velvet. Texture is drier. The chocolate frosting taste like what you get at Ralphs or Vons. The Red Velvet cream is not too sweet, pretty good. I would recommend all to be in room temperature before eating. If you put in fridge, you will be eating dry crumbs. Yuck. Bagels about $0.65 to $1. Bread loaf about $3. Cakes prices range from $13-$22. Everything looks so good (presentation appealing) but i have not had chance to try everything. One thing i have to say though is you have to take a number!! I feel like i am walking into Porto because there is no order to anything. If you are new you will be walking around wondering who will help you. You have to take a number that is located on right side upon entrance. The number board is on wall on the left by the coffee area. If you don't hear them call your number (and it is hard to hear bcuz they don't shout or use a speaker system), you can see the number on wall change. If you missed it, the next person will be helped. The day i went was weekday and there was only one person helping. Everyone was picking up items and took away most of the helpers. In any case, take your number and watch the wall because you will tune out ears when you you look at all the spread in front of you. One bad thing: NO price on anything!!! You have to ask them for prices of each item. Bad idea!!! I did tell her but she said "that's how it is". Oh, ok, more time waste then bcuz i do ask prices of nearly everything. read more
