I found it interesting that the entrees don't come with rice and you have to order the amount of rice you want. It also cost extra for chili sauce so you can see how quickly all of this can add up. The food itself was fine, wasn't the best Chinese food or anything. I felt like I needed to add soy or more sauce to the dishes because they didn't have a lot of flavor. Especially with them making them gluten free somehow. The white sauce was just ok ya know? The thing I did enjoy most was the noodles with small pieces of bbq pork. The wonton soup had only broth and 2 wontons, that's it. Every wonton soup I've ever eaten had more than that. Whether it be spinach, other veggies or even a couple shrimps. It was rather bland. The dining room has a contemporary asian decor. The AC kept the air cool and comfortable. There's several 2,4, and 6 seat tables. Just before lunchtime, the place was 1/3 full with customers. I was seated along the wall. I was offered a menu, and choice of hot tea or ice water. I asked for chopsticks, because the place setting had a fork. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch plate w/ fried rice. Also, I asked for an order of (Lightly Breaded) Fried Prawns. Service was excellent. My waiter was very attentive, and served my food as soon as it was ready. He told me if there were any delays. I didn't have to ask for anything. The Fried Prawns were large and plump. They were served with various sauces to choose from. The Mongolian Beef lunch plate had a nice presentation. The portion size was fair. The fried rice was moist, and blended well with the Mongolian Beef. The Mongolian Beef was spicy and tasted just right. Hot 'n Sour soup came with the lunch plate. Lily Kai's recipe for hot 'n sour soup is a little different than what you might get in most other chinese restaurants. They make it with alot of mushrooms. The familiar flavor was there, but it lacked several expected ingredients. Well, as long as it tasted good, I'm okay with it. ----------------------------------------------- So I had a great first time experience here. The plaza has a free shared parking lot. There's a Starbucks Coffee shop in the same plaza. Also, this place is down the street from the Kaiser Medical Offices. Also, they have clean and large restrooms. I totally was that weird kid who ate strange food growing up. That hasn't changed at all for me as an adult! In Sonoma county there was really just one place with dim sum, and lots of people wanted more options. I tried other restaurants with their dim sum adjacent menus, but they were pretty mediocre and mostly focused on fried pot stickers or the occasional steamed siu mai. Once I heard fantasy was starting a true dim sum menu, I knew we had to try it. The day we arrived I was solidly in my third trimester of pregnancy and getting around was a chore, but that wasn't going to keep me from dim sum. We were the only guests the whole time on the day we went there, which was weird to me given how good the food ended up being! Service was great, super friendly and just lovely folks. The restaurant was clean and we'll organized, and the menu was a good mix of traditional favorites and some trendy BAO for the insta. We ordered a little of everything , which to me is why dim sum is so fun. Food came out super fast, and we tucked right in. Surprisingly to me, my favorite dish is one hubs picked on a whim, the spicy won tons. The flavors and textures were on point, and even with pregnancy heartburn, the spice on these things was well worth it. Super delicious. I felt the pandan and black sesame bao were overly trendy for my taste, but I'm sure those who are new to dim sum could see these options as easy introduction into the food. Really good experience here with very tasty food, nice people and quality dishes. I'm still getting over the idea of expensive dim sum because of growing up eating it in SF with low costs in a humble setting, but for this overall experience I felt the prices were fine. We had gotten chicken chow mein, mongolian beef, eggplant and tofu clay pot, sauteed string beans, pea shoots, turnip cake, and egg custard buns. The mongolian beef had pretty good flavor tho it tasted different from the norm. Different brown sauce of sorts. Still cooked well though since it worked in this case. The string beans and the eggplant/tofu clay pot were cooked well. I liked the flavors on them tho the clay pot needed stronger flavors. Usually for clay pots it would sit in the sauce and be practically enveloped in it. That and the chicken chow mein were both a bit bland unfortunately. The pea shoots had pretty good flavor and garlic but were a tad undercooked; hard to chew through. Turnip cake were decent, custard buns were still on the cold side. A quick trip to the microwave did wonders for the buns. Decent for the area but still hard to meet some of the marks for us.

The fact that Hang Ah charges $8.45 for an order of har gaw or shu mai today when just a few years ago this dish was half the price at most dim sum spots puts a money chill in my very bones. But the fact is that their flavors are on point brings me back in the future. I had one of the best turnip cake dim sum I have ever tasted. Crispy fried with some great flavor through and through. I would order this dish every time I visit in the future. But I would also request that they sear it on both sides for optimum tastiness. The har gaw and fried squid were also full of flavor. I do think that in the future I would request the squid extra crispy as it was a bit undercooked and limp when it should be crispy af. :-) The spot is typical of Chinese restaurants in terms of ambiance and service. All in line with my expectation. My only complaint is paying near $50 for 2 orders of dim sum and one entree. I hate 2026 prices.

Service was ok. She took our order and when it was done she left it on the counter to let us know it's ready for pick up. I ordered a lychee/peach green tea and a traditional banh mi .. my lychee green tea is on the sweeter side.. I think I would order it less sweet next time if I go again. The Banh mi was decent. The did really liked that it was super crispy. My son had the bbq pork banh mi with a Vietnamese coffee .. he said the coffee is a bit salty.. so I'm wondering if their coffee is the salty coffee one but wasn't stated on their menu ‍ His Banh mi he said was really good.. the bbq pork was nicely seasoned.
