My sister, niece and I went to Anassa last night and we had a good time. However, I was not impressed with the food at all. The lamb chops and potatoes were so bland. The salmon was not great either. The service was nice and we were only us and two gentlemen.

The spreads were delicious, there was a spicy feta, an eggplant, and a tzatziki, the bread and hummus was really good as well. The calamari was perfection and the halloumi had honey and caramelized orange peels which were so good. The lamb was a little dry and could've been flavored better but the truffle fries were delicious!

Came here for summer restaurant week with a friend and had a delicious meal. The ambiance, service, and meal was all very nice. A great find through restaurant week!

I normally come here just for drinks, but my best friend was in town so we treated ourselves to a few shared dishes while we caught up. The complimentary bread and dip is a great start and really delicious. We ordered a few dips with pita. They season and crisp the pita so perfectly that honestly I'd eat it plain for a whole meal. We also ordered, although not pictured, the meatballs. They were surprisingly delicious in the red sauce they came in. Greek salad was refreshing although I wish it came with some protein. The waiter was very patient and attentive and had a good sense of humor. They're definitely on the pricier side, but it's a good intimate spot to catch up and treat yourself.

Anassa Taverna is a great pick when you want something different from the usual lunch spots in Midtown. I went today specifically to skip my typical burger routine and was pleasantly surprised. They offer a fixed price lunch at $33, which includes an appetizer, entre, and a small dessert. For the area, that's actually a good deal, especially when the food quality stands out as much as it did. I went with the fish of the day, a fillet branzino, and it was perfectly cooked light, flavorful, and plated beautifully. My friend and I shared appetizers, which was a smart move since it let us try both the hummus dip and the meatballs. Both were excellent! The portions were balanced, leaving me full but not overly stuffed, and the whole experience felt relaxed yet refined. Between the quality of the food, the presentation, and the attentive service, Anassa Taverna made for a genuinely enjoyable lunch outing.

Returned to Anassa Taverna Downtown and had a great dinner on a Friday night when the restaurant was busy but not crowded. The Salmon Tartare appetizer and the Lamb Chops entree were excellent. The Lamb Chops were cooked nicely to a medium rare just as we requested. Lively atmosphere and friendly attentive service, our server Maria was very helpful.

Amazing food and service, can't wait to come back here. The restaurant week pre fixe was a great deal in comparison to their usual prices and I'm so glad I tried it. The salmon tartare was so beautifully presented and the chicken was very juicy and fresh. We were served mango and raspberry sorbet for dessert to top it all off. Definitely recommend their frozen aperol spritz too!

Stopped here last minute on New Year's Day and it was so good. Beautiful restaurant, excellent very quick service, top notch drinks and great food. Whiskey sour and Maria Callas drinks were fantastic, our party had a dip trio and several fish dishes and all were excellent !

Came here for lunch during restaurant week. The place is deceptively large from looking from the outside. The decor is very traditional Greek coastal vibes, which has always been a favorite aesthetic of mine. Service was a touch slow, but was also nice not to be rushed. But having had some meetings after lunch, a little more urgency would have been appreciated. That being said, I don't think I've ever had my water glass filled so many times in one meal, which was greatly appreciated. Nonetheless the staff were kind and patient with our party. Food was good and very fresh. I started with the salmon tartare, which is paired with these very tasty potato chip like crisps to eat it with. For the main meal I got the chicken which was good, but not stunning in any way. The notable points though were the oregano fries on the side and the fresh tomato and dill sauce served on the side are what amped it up more for me. Lastly, was the highest point of the meal was the dessert, we all had the baklava which although just a small little portion, it was just the sweet little bit we wanted to finish off the meal.

Made a reservation and was seated right away for lunch. Had a great experience. Servers came to check in from time to time to see how everything was going. There is outdoor seating and would be great on a nice beautiful day. Would love to come back and try other items on the menu! Ordered the following: Appetizers: - Anassa chips $25: Thinly sliced zucchini lightly fried served with tzatziki was so crispy! Can literally eat the whole plate of this and not feel bad haha - Greek meatballs $22: Veal, beef, pork with feta cheese and mint was good! Wish the size of the meatballs was a bit bigger. - Saganaki $18: Lightly fried Kefalograviera cheese with lemon and honey was grilled topped with sesame seeds and thinly sliced sweet orange shreds? Paired really well. First time having this type of cheese and when you eat it, it kind of squeaks, so my coworker called this the 'squeaky cheese' LOL Light Fare: - Lamb Kebab $34: Two ground lamb skewers(believe it's mixed with beef?) served with oregano fries, mixed field greens, tzatziki and pita was AMAZING! Can probably be shared if you don't want to feel so full!

    Grilled Octopus appetizer

Went for lunch with a friend not realizing it was restaurant week. We opted for the Prix fixe lunch for $30 but decided to pay extra $10 for the octopus appetizer. It was worth it! Octopus was very tender and well seasoned. For our entrees, we had lobster ravioli and Branzino and baklava and strawberry sorbet for dessert. Everything was tasty and well seasoned. Baklava was just the right sweetness for dessert. Service was excellent. Each course came as we were finishing the previous one. We were seated closest to the sidewalk but noise level was minimal I'd love to go back and try their other dishes!

First thing you'll notice upon entry is how absolutely decorated it is. If you're a fan of Witcher, it's like walking into an an old-timey tavern. If you have no idea then-- it's like an old-timey tavern. I wouldn't be surprised of they had bard Fridays and homemade mead. It's also a big space. Reminds me of one of the last remnants of the bygone era that was the Obama-era glow. Like peak millenial where restaurants were starting to get viral but not to the point where they have to hyper compete with a gimmicky dish. The prices are a bit steep and was making me consider dropping my rating down a star but fuggit, I like their food. I played it safe and got the mixed grill meats but that's because I lack reading comprehension and thought the main dish (I don't know what it's called, it's just the 1st entree listed) was a baked meat pie situation, it was more grilled steak on a bed of mash potatoes but these mash potatoes were savory like gravy. I wish I got my friend's dish. The mixed grilled meats were a lot closer to doners or skewer meat. Different cuts but also different flavors. What they had in common was a sort of spice-forward sizzling taste. My friend got two appetizers (which I also don't know the name of) but were definitely the most beautifully presented foods I've had in a long while. They were both creams but one had a pepper in it (not the spicy kind). The pepper one was a light refreshing sourness and the other was a heavier but not heeeeavy savory one. Both great to dip your bread in. I wanted to try the lemon cookie for dessert but my friend got us all Tres Leches by accident. That was great but I would say the most non-novel out of everything we got. Delicious, just not something out of the norm-- which is what I go for when I'm trying a new cuisine like Albanian. I wouldn't say this is normal day-to-day Albanian (I have a few friends), it's more like the Americana equivalent, an upscale where Albanians go out to eat.

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! The lamb and scallops were also flavorful and tender. The dips were delicious with the pita, but I wish the serving size for the dips were bigger. The fries were great - well seasoned! Also recommend the milky pudding, it was a nice refreshing way to end the dinner. We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.
