Came here for lunch on a late spring Wednesday with a party of 4, we had a reservation, but it was empty enough where I don't think you'd have to worry about one if you were feeling spontaneous. Now I've never been to Italy, but from first glance I feel like this place nailed the ambiance of "Italian villa". And I don't mean in that super stereotypical all brick everything kind of way that you see everywhere. Rustic natural wood and stone and mostly just ambient lighting, really gave a nice homey and relaxed feeling for the meal. Even our waiter was an Italian transplant! They start you off with complimentary bread and olive oil for the table, which as far as I'm concerned is a must for any Italian restaurant worth its salt. I went with the Farfalle Isabella, a pasta dish with chicken, tomato, and broccoli in a red pepper and oil sauce. Very tasty and on the lighter side which was nice given the toasty day we had outside. Portions were also reasonably sized, an oddity for Italian restaurant, but what they lack in quantity they mostly make up for in quality. That being said, it definitely is a little on the pricier side for Italian, but like I said, I think the price point does justify some better quality ingredients. Overall a splendid experience and would like to come back and try more of the menu, they have plenty of more Italian-American classics and more traditional options to choose from that you don't see everywhere else that I'd like to stick my fork into. read more

In 4 minutes, my food arrived which was a giveaway that this was not freshly made. The taste was good & the serving size left me a little hungry. I could not get over how expensive it was. Make sure you make a reservation to ensure you get a table. The place was hopping at night. The place has a front area, a main area and an upper area. If they are short on tables they try to bring out table from the basement. They were short on wait staff the night we visited but they all tried to cover for each other. I was looking for a spot to have my MIL's birthday dinner and found Gigino after some Google Maps searching. I needed an Italian spot that had chicken, as she's no longer eating red meat. I also needed somewhere that would take my reservation about a week out (we had to make last minute alternative plans since she wasn't eating red meat anymore). Gigino was great - they seated me before my full party was there and our waiter was fantastic. My MIL wasn't sure that kind of red she wanted, as they didn't have anything on the menu she was familiar with. I think they typically only drink Chilean reds, so she needed some help. Our waiter was so great and let her try 3 reds before she found one she liked. I had the seafood tagliatelle with pink cream sauce for my main. My husband had a braised beef shoulder and my MIL had the chicken ossobucco. She said her dish was great. I really enjoyed mine as well. I had told our waiter that it was my MIL's birthday in advance before she got there and he understood the assignment. They came over with a decorated plate and a candle in her tiramisu. Great place for an Italian meal. We had a party of 12 and had a great time. Stephanie Waited on us and recommended what to order for our party. Loved mussels, fried calamari and the huge charcuterie board. I really loved the lasagna - the sauce was delicious. I wasn't that fond of the chicken so had plenty of leftovers. We went here for Christmas Eve lunch and it was a great ambiance and quiet atmosphere. The calamari was good but they should have given a bigger serving, so that was kind of a waste. However, their pasta dishes are really good!! I got linguine and clams -- the clams were fresh and the olive oil mix was really comforting. I have been here handful of times. I love coming here after a jog or workout because the dishes get me back up on track with my calories. Homemade Pizza is to die for! I work in the neighborhood and I come by every once in a while for quick food. This experience I just had I will not be returning as I am eating my dinner and a lady has a dog sitting on a chair for a human. Completely unsanitary as the face is licking the table that silverware lives on. The correct response is to not allow this. Very disturbing and disgusting. read more

Colleague recommended this place. As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were impressed with the decor. The service was very attentive and friendly. We all tried different pastas with the burrata as our appetizer. Everyone had cleaned their plates. This was my beloved place for pizza for years. I didn't come for a while because I have to watch my cholesterol. But when I came back last week, the pizza changed and wasn't great anymore! 4 months ago, I was still able to have incredible Pizza from here. I thought at this recent visit maybe the crust was premade- bc it was just flat and not doughy. And very salty. But the waitress said it was definitely made fresh, though there's a new pizza maker in training. And the previous pizza maker went back to Spain. Upon comparing pics of my pizzas from my previous visit (4 months ago) to this week's, You can see that recently the toppings on the Mushroom artichoke sausage pizza has become extremely scant, Compared to four months ago. Absolutely delicious Italian food! They ask about allergies right away and bring out a board of different types of bread/oil. My water was always filled thanks to the quick waitstaff. Our waitress was super helpful with helping my boyfriend decide what to order. I did not get a drink but they did look delicious and most tables seemed to have a sangria-type drink. It's a little bit of a tight squeeze and it was very hot in there so we requested to sit outside/by the open door...but the of course you get the sewage smell of the city (not their fault obviously). Everything was too good to take picture of. I've been to a lot of places in NYC where it's over priced or the food isn't good and this place is perfect. We started with the panzanella salad which was a small but perfect portion for two and it was a great blend of "stuff" and lettuce. For our mains we tried two of the specials for the day which were both excellent. Service is also a 10/10 not once did a dirty plate stay on the table for longer than 10 seconds. We started with calamari which was tasty but very small portion for the price. The linguini was cooked well al dente but the flavor was lacking. It felt too oily and salty. The pizza was ok, nothing too special. The chocolate almond cake was delicious with the ice cream but it was very small. Everything was great! We sat in the back under a glass roof. So nice to have daylight dining without the street noise. Ventilation was very good; ot didn't feel stuffy at all. Our server was so pleasant and I'm sorry I cannot remember her name but she was lovely. We ordered the white pizza as an appetizer for three to share. They served it with garlic, hot pepper Flakes and a flavored oil for drizzling. As you can see from the pictures the presentation was satisfying. Taste exceeded expectations. We didn't have room for dessert but made space anyway. The cheesecake was very good but we all agreed the lemon custard tart was next level. So glad we discovered this place and we look forward to returning soon. read more

For last minute reservation we were seated Immediately. The delicious aroma emanating from within made me more hungry and I was basically salivating at other diners plates. Our waiter was tad bit reserved but otherwise very polite, and informative regarding the menu. So many selections it was difficult to decide but in the end I'm glad I chose what I did. Depending on what's ordered the portion size varies. My order Gamberoni tre torri being I'm trying to cut down on carbs (but I went to Italian, smart right.. lol) was perfect. Small portion of pasta, good size portion of spinach, would have appreciated more shrimp but that's the greedy inner child in me. I was nervous about just garlic and olive oil so I asked for a small side of cream sauce. Yelpers.. I sooooo did not need it and was glad I decide not have them substitute it in my meal. The pasta I felt like it was lightly grilled, very unusual but very delicious. I truly enjoyed that dish. My bonus mom ordered penne vodka, definitely more pasta in that dish and she loved it. The appetizers delicious, not sure if because we delayed eating the bruschetta the bread was a bit soft and soggy.. I loved it. Not a fan of the hard cut the roof of your mouth bread. Drink wasn't as strong as other mules Ive had but still yummy. Omg the pineapple adornment.. delicious..it seemed it was grilled and maybe some form of sweetener added. A July 4th lunch in Tribeca, my date and I shared an amazing salad L'Esotica that had 10 wonderful ingredients, mozzarella, hearts of palm, avocado, chickpea, cannellini beans, marinated mushrooms,, rolled artichoke hearts,tomatoes, radicchio and greens. Totally wow!! Next, was capellini, shrimp and arugulai in a zesty tomato sauce. Quite delish, Raffa was a most excellent server and the inexpensive bottle of Nero D'Avola was impressive for the price. We went here on a whim after much indecision about where to eat dinner. Walking in, I felt transported back a few decades with the classic ambiance of warm "candlelight" (lamp light) and dark wood. Our servers were attentive and prompt, although a bit stoic. We ordered mussels (cozze a modo mio) and then black ravioli with shellfish and a hearty stewed beef with vegetables. I would write the Italian names, but I cannot for the life of me remember them and the dishes were specials so they don't appear on the menu online. I personally have had pretty bad experiences with mussels up until that night, but this was a pivoting point. The mussels were tender, amazing flavorful, and numerous. Despite being a mussel-hater, I would order it again. The beef was tender and hearty, and the spinach did a good job at cutting through the richness to keep the taste from becoming repetitive. The picture with the poor lighting doesn't do it justice. The lemon tart also felt special, not too sweet or sour, and also silky and refreshing after eating as heavy and rich of a meal we did. But we barely had room in our stomach for it after all we ate before. I'm not sure if it's normal, but the waiter didn't come back to give us our bill until we made eye contact and asked. I assume this is to not disrupt conversation or dinner. They're very attentive, so if you find yourself stuck at your table, just look at them until they make eye contact with you. read more

I came here for my birthday along with my husband, brother-in-law, and his boyfriend. It has a rustic feel inside that's very charming, like sitting in a restaurant in Italy. We all did the restaurant week menu, which is 3 courses for $45. I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 5 for a few reasons. First, the waiter seemed a little stoic, not the friendly type I was expecting in a nice place like this. Second, when we had finished our entrees, the busboy came around to pick up our plates. He asked if we wanted a box, I said yes. But I guess he didn't hear me and he stacked a plate on top of my leftovers. And I tried to stop him but it was too late. My leftovers were already contaminated. I was a little upset about that. I felt like that character from Office Space that everyone ignores. And lastly, the restaurant week menu listed beers for $6 and the all beers on their list were supposed to be covered. However when the bill came, they charged us $9 for the beer instead of the $6. I wanted to say something but my husband didn't want me to, so I didn't. The food was really good however. And we all enjoyed it. The desserts were probably our favorite and was so inhaled it like there was no tomorrow. All in all, if it wasn't for those few minor mistakes, this would've been the perfect experience. read more
