Whenever I find myself in Sausalito, this is the place I go for a good breakfast. As many times as I've been here, they usually know what I want as soon as I sit down - corned beef hash! Yes, and they know how to make it here - it's among the best I've ever had. It's the real deal, made of cut up corned beed (not Alpo corned beef), potatoes, onion and green bell peppers. I know many people are turned off by the peppers, but they work for me. Top it off with two perfect poached eggs, and you have breakfast, baby! Great little diner that I would choose anytime when in Marin, especially when the missus wants to visit Heath Ceramics just across the way. Food: Corned beef hash is the cups! (What's "the cups," you ask? The Reese's cups, 'cause they're the best!). Anyway, corned beef hash with poached eggs and tomato slices is the go-to dish here. Crab specials abound as well, and you can get a nice stack of flapjacks/waffles/whatever. Feel like a burger? They have that too. Good solid diner fare, in my opinion. Service: We had a party of 6 adults and 3 kids, and had to wait a bit for booth/table space to open up, but we hung out at the counter and chatted with the staff. Super-nice and friendly all around. Good, but not great. My friends and I (group of 5) came here because we were heading to the lighthouse and saw that this place had good Yelp reviews, but, to be honest, none of us were really amazed. The food was average diner food and seemed really overpriced (maybe because it's Sausalito). There was nothing wrong with it, but for the $20 I paid, I expected a little more than just some sad pancakes, greasy bacon strips, and one egg. The service was also really spotty...the waiters didn't check up on us once during the whole meal and thus our coffees and waters never got refilled. I usually understand spotty service when there's a crowd and only so many waiters, but we were one of the only two tables in the diner at the time so there's no excuse in my opinion. Overall this place is okay, but I probably wouldn't recommend this place to a friend or come back because of the price to quality . read more

No lines - no waits - no nonsense. Go here. We can't wait to go back to Sausalito for many reasons but one key one is to try lunch at Anchorage 5. While you are there, check ot the art studios across the stree or heath's ceramics. You should also go for a stroll north up through the industrial park for a real treat. Solid breakfast in Sausalito, located near the docks, near the warehouses, near Jason and Freddy. I came here for breakfast (1 pm on a Saturday) and it wasn't that packed. They had an array of Eggs Benedict and my eye was on the Dungeoness Crab one. It was around $17 +. They make orange juice in house which tastes like a combo of orange and mango with pulp (good). With the eggs benedict you get the option of garlic potatoes, hashbrowns, or salad, because I'm fat i chose the potatoes which was a good choice. The eggs benedict was your standard type, nothing too crazy, it did have a lot of crabs which was nice. Great unpretentious breakfast place frequented by locals and sailors with super friendly service. My favorite there is their crispy hashbrowns and all their Benedicts, specially the Salmon Benedict. They also have great salads and sandwiches for lunch. During crab season, they incorporate specials such as crab omelet, crab benedict, crab sandwich...you get the idea. They are very friendly to dogs and have outdoor seating. I don't have much negative things to say except that I wish the restroom is indoors. Excellent breakfast. Found them on yelp when trying to find a good place between the city and Sacramento. No tourists, locals only, we arrived at 930 am, plenty of parking. Had two orders of the breakfast special (scrambled eggs, capers and smoked salmon), one order of French toast with bacon and hash browns, and one order of bacon & ham omelette with extra crispy potato nuggets with salsa. 4 happy customers leaving 55 minutes later. It was bombastic! Casual kitschy decor and the owner is as genuine as your long lost best friend. By 1015, there wasn't a seat open, but several of the diners (including my party), hustled along to free up our tables. To me, that was the most impressive. It's a neat and cute restaurant! Everything is about ship, anchorage, and ocean! The lamp on the top is a wheel shape with anchorage, the windows looks like the windows from a ship basement, the curtains are full of lighthouses, and there's so many interesting paintings about ship and water too! I tried their most talked about dish, the Corned Beef Hash. I don't think I have ever had one before, but I expected it to be full of flavor from the corned beef, potatoes, and bell peppers. The dish was just okay - the corned beef bits were flavorful and the eggs were cooked really well but all other flavors seemed muted by the crispy burnt-ness. My boyfriend ordered eggs and bacon with hash browns. It was pretty typical and no complaints. Love that the place is really simple and down to earth. Nothing is dressed up and you're just getting a plain, good meal. I first learned about Anchorage 5 when I started working upstairs at one of the companies in the building. That was about 3 and a half years ago. I only work there a couple days a week, but even when I'm not working, if I'm in Sausalito and want a good, decent meal with the best service imaginable, I stop in at the Anchorage. Having eaten there so many times over the years, I've gotten to know Regina and Louis, the owners as two of the nicest, hardest working people. In fact it just boggles my mind how much effort they put into the restaurant (more like an east coast Diner, which I love ). Anchorage 5 is a great little breakfast, brunch, lunch place in Sausalito. Casual, untrendy, local type place with wonderful friendly staff. Last time I got the corned beef hash, which was AMAZING (fresh chopped corned beef, nice green peppers and perfectly poached eggs and accompanied by fruit salad, hash browns or cottage potatoes or sliced tomatoes). So delicious! You can also get the corned beef hash as a benedict too. My friends also ordered the beef nachos (pretty good and HUGE), and another corned beef hash. We also got a short stack and the pancakse Portions are just right to large, depending on what you get, but I've always walked away pretty full! This Sunday, we ordered lunch at Anchorage 5. I ordered the crab melt on sliced sourdough ($13.95) and added avocado ($1), and it came with a small green salad (or fries or fruit salad). What made it perfect was they put the avocado on top of the crab and then melted the cheese on top of it, making every bite crabby and avocado-ey and cheesey. It was exactly what I wanted. I would get it again. Some places just slap on the avocado on top and it falls off. MDJ ordered a ground beef chimichanga, accompanied with small salad, rice and refried beans. He also ordered a ground beef taco on the side ($3.50, which I think is too expensive.) The chimichanga was tasty and did not taste like reused rancid oil like many chimichangas at some other places taste like. We both ordered iced teas. This place is also kid-friendly. They have a kids menu and the last time we were there, the chef made a mickey mouse face on the pancakes for the kid at the neighboring table. The best part and the part I'll be coming back for are the camarones rancheros. This is on their secret menu. They don't list it on the menu but you can ask for it. I call in orders all the time and go down 15 minutes later to either pick up or eat there for my hurried lunch breaks. You walk in and are introduced to a dated, nautical-decorated room where you'll find all the usual morning fare. If I may, I would recommend the Mexican Burrito or the Huevos Racheros both a packed with flavour and make sure to get the Hashbrowns, they were pretty damn good too! Stopped into this very out-of-the-way restaurant on the way to Muir Woods. Picked it based on the reviews from Yelp as we were in the city, but didn't know where to eat and were literally less than 500 feet from the place and still didn't know it. It's located in what looks like a executive park building you might expect to see a dentists officer vs. a restaurant, but once inside, it's designed with what you might expect for a bay-side eatery with porthole windows and sea-faring artifacts throughout the building. Menu- A very extensive omelette menu of offerings and a lot of specials with sea food (duh!) - but I went with a Greek Omelette made with egg whites and the fresh "chop chop" potatoes (that is how the waiter described the item). They also have famous hash browns here, so if you are a fan - try them, you'll like them. The Omelette was packed high with ingredients and really well presented. The waiter noticed that I was going with egg whites and asked if I would prefer fruit vs. toast, which was a nice call out, without having to ask for the lighter fare. He also asked if I wanted the toast buttered or dry, again thinking of how someone who is watching their cholesterol might be thinking that way - appreciated it. Service - well - there you have it - it was spot on - also seemed to be a family owned place. The cashier asked us where we were going and gave us some tips on parking at Muir Woods and because we were over there early, said we would have not problem getting parking - she was right - we got right in and when we left there was a line for the park, so go early - not the restaurant review, but I'm rambling about their service, so keep your pants on. Worth a stop if you can figure out how to get there - it's off the beaten path, but recommend you make the effort to find it. read more

Visited from Seattle for two weeks. Good food, courteous and friendly staff who pay attention but don't continuously ask you if you need anything or if the food is good or if you want more coffee. They pay attention and pour you coffee when your cup is half full instead of asking you. They watch and take care of you without continually interrupting you like so many other restaurants these days. Great theme and atmosphere. Clean. If toast comes with your order ask them ahead of time to butter the whole slice instead of a dollop in the middle. Oh, and this place substituted a dinner salad for breakfast potatoes! Such a wonderful breakfast spot! On my way to SFO my friend and I stopped in for some breakfast. I had the butterfly Benedict, chicken apple sausage instead of ham, and it was so delicious. You can tell the hollandaise was prepared in house, the perfect balance of salt and lemon. Potatoes were also perfectly seasoned. I have found many breakfast places miss out on something, under seasoned food or hollandaise that is made from a powdered substance, but Regina and Luis have done it all well! This is a great restaurant for locals. It's hidden away so that it's not as accessible for the hoards of tourists that descend on Sausalito (particularly in the summer). My boyfriend and I have been to Anchorage on numerous occasions and always received friendly service and good breakfast food. (We've never been for lunch, so I can't speak to their lunch food.) I think they are a 3.5 star place but decided to round down. 4 stars for the food it was all good but the location, ambiance and expensive prices drive the overall rating down for me. Its an older diner type place in a commercial area away from downtown with no views and only two tables outside. The inside is pretty small and was very hot and stuffy. They could use some fans it was uncomfortable the day we were there. The food we had was good everyone liked their meals they were not great but they were good but a bit pricey for an old diner off the beaten path in my opinion. Glad we tried it once for a $75.00 lunch for four I would have been happier with a touristy spot on the marina with a nice view and sitting on a nice patio enjoying the harbor. read more

Great place to have brunch, down here visiting from Washington. Stopped in and is a very nice place with staff that are very courteous. Kids both had pancake sandwiches, wife had the Denver omelette and I had the tall stack of blueberry pancakes. Everything was very fresh and had amazing flavors.
