I was not able to try it there because when I was in DC I was always going to some other restaurant. They finally put one in Springfield Mall. I finally go to try this FABULOUS Pizza! OMG! So flavorful, fresh ingredients, many options, spicy, deliciousness. I am in love! I am not a big pizza person, but I love this place and go decently often. I am so happy to see that they are putting more in VA area. One in Reston, Woodbridge, newly opened Fairfax. They are getting closer. Now we just need one in Manassas. Close to about what you can get for when I went to the Chinatown location. I just found the customer service there to be well, gruff. The food is still good, this time I tried the OG pizza, which is basically their original meets a Margherita. That is not to suggest that you shouldn't eat here, because the pizza is good, but be warned. The service here is not as good as the Chinatown location. The soda fountains are way off in a remote location, and they rush you into getting extra toppings when you really don't want to. They also really don't encourage you to "build your own" here. Things moved so fast that I had no time to decide whether or not to put meatballs or sausage on my pie, which ended up being left as is. That's not right. Same goes with my co-worker who went with me, who ordered the Gnarlic pie. They told him, "we're out of onions, would you like something else?" Literally seconds later, onions appear. So much for that. Basically you're giving him no time to decide because shortly after the onions arrived to the prep table, they were already on his pizza. What if it was me? I don't eat onions. They would have had to throw out the whole pie and start from scratch, unless I am proactive and tell them ahead of time not to put the onions on, which they cannot assume that would be the outcome. The only reason I would return here is the food is good for the prices. But the customer service needs to improve if they want better word of mouth from other paying patrons. read more

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! I was first time orderer tonight. You cannot call into the store; no human connection at all. I ordered online and it was supposed to be delivered via Uber. Jordan was the deliverer. I get notification it was delivered, but it wasn't! It wasn't brought into the apartment building (checked with security man), it wasn't brought to my apartment. It wasn't brought anywhere. Jordan doesn't answer his phone at all. Jordan doesn't answer his text. You cannot connect with the store or any human. So, I am out a pizza I paid for. While we really enjoyed our experiences at &pizza when it first opened, the location seems to have gone downhill since. It was our absolute go-to for gluten-free pizza, as well, and now I don't even feel comfortable with that. As you can see from my previous review, they used to be over-zealous about preventing cross-contamination. They'd wipe down surfaces, switch out spoons, grab special containers of sauce, etc. The last few times we have been here, we've had employees fail to change gloves, use the same spoon to ladle and spread sauce on my kids' GF pizza as they did on everyone's normal pizzas, and even share the same pizza cutter after it was removed from the oven. Luckily, my kids aren't celiac, but they ARE gluten-sensitive. Even still, we won't be risking it for them here anymore. Side note: my husband and I came by ourselves a few weeks ago and sat at the tables to eat. The employees were goofing off the entire tome and blasting rap music throughout the store (the genre doesn't bother me, but it was a bit aggressive for a Saturday lunch)... it must have been from someone's Spotify because the songs were unedited and we got to enjoy many explicit lyrics (in the presence of families with kids) before finally getting up to leave. And in looking further, they underscore how their model is to treat their employees, whom they call 'The Tribe', with the dignity and respect they deserve. Ironically, the customers, who are not part of their 'Tribe', are documented to repeatedly not be treated with dignity and respect. I've even seen the Tribe engage in discrimination against customers. &pizza's advertising is correct, they are not just pizza, and they are a movement, unfortunately, they are indicative of the new partisan, us vs. them, exclusionary, finger-wagging, we're better than you because we look down on you, elitest, movement that has arisen in recent years. I sent their "text line" an image of what was delivered and they barely refunded me for my order. They refunded me $10.75 which was the price of the pizza before tax, service fee, and tip. The last time I came here, the employee asked what I'd like to order and as I was talking to him, he literally turned around to talk to his coworker so he obviously couldn't hear my order. He asked me to repeat it so I repeated it and HE DID THE EXACT SAME THING. Turned around to talk to his coworker AGAIN. My husband even was confused and surprised by this. Tried &Pizza for the first time and had mixed feelings. Not so much about the food but this location in particular. I was really impressed with the pizza and will definitely return to try some new offerings. Having said that, I don't think I'll return to this particular site. Everything was dirty from the tables to the bathrooms to the actual food preparation area. The people working there were nice and good at preparing the food but there didn't seem to be anyone in charge which could explain a lot of the issues. Really great thin crust make your own pizza. What a super duper concept. The toppings were plentiful and it was quick to order and customize what I wanted. I did half for my little nephew with basic pepperoni and loaded up my side with the works. At the end you, after cooking, you can add other additional toppings and sauces. I didn't feel like it needed it. I hope to go again and wish we had something like this where I am from. The fountain drinks were also delic. There was once upon a time when I didn't even like pizza... but &pizza gave me a change of heart. I've been to the original location on H Street once and I didn't know what I was doing so I ended up with a customized pizza -- but it still ended up being delicious! Luckily, &pizza decided to open their first location outside of the District just 5 minutes away from my house in Springfield Town Center (it's right next to Nando's and on the same side as Maggiano's and Yardhouse). There's an entrance from the mall as well as from the outside. You start by choosing your dough -- traditional, ancient grains, or gluten-free. You can order a customized pizza or one of their signature pizzas -- my favorite is the Maverick, but I also liked the Farmer's Daughter. You can even add additional toppings to your signature pizza if you wish! The staff was friendly when I visited and the manager even checked up on us. They also have a handcrafted soda machine with out of ordinary flavors like dark cherry, mango passion, etc. If you're ever in the area, you should definitely check &pizza out! read more

Over the weekend I took the hubby to Springfield Mall with a couple of missions in mind -- one was introducing him to &pizza. He was skeptical going in, comparing it to other places, unsure why it was a place I wanted him to try. Once we got started he was enjoying it. He might have gone a little overboard on the toppings, but honestly, isn't that part of the fun? He enjoyed it and is already talking about what combinations to try next time. I went with a spicy tomato / garlic combination of sauces on the multi grain crust to start and worked with the Farmer's Daughter as my basic (without the egg -- I just can't get into the egg on pizza idea). I added some chicken and after oven seasoning. It was very good. In addition to the yummy and personalized eats there is also the wonderful staff. I don't know what &pizza does to keep the team so happy and engaged but they should definitely keep it up. From the initial selections, to the after oven toppings, to the check-out, to the women who was cleaning up the tables, they were all engaged. I particularly appreciated the women who was removing plates and wiping tables, its not a fun activity but she saw still engaged and asked if we had enjoyed our pizzas (& when I responded she replied which really, really impressed me). &pizza gets two thumbs up and may even make me a Springfield Mall regular, something I never thought I would even consider. read more

I have to give my last visit 2 stars makes me sad...I don't think I've ever had a horrible experience at &pizza and especially at the Springfield location. I've been here on countless occasions from Yelp events to my own venturing. But this time my visit with the bf was lackluster. The pizza is pretty much what I've come to expect. I was all spiced out from earlier exploits and went with a less spicy pizza than I usually do, but even the B team of ingredients is awfully good. I came here recently as part of a Yelp Event. This was on brunch stop #4 and we were able to sample about 5 pizza's and sample the salads as well. The pizza's are shaped in a sort of rectangle shape, not your typical round circular. I thought that was intriguing and unique. Let me tell you this, I have tried &pizza at the airport and I had an absolutely horrible experience. At the airport I ran into an unpleasant employee. And thus, I couldn't even enjoy my pizza because I was so bitter about the service provided to me. At that moment, I thought that my vacation was down the drain. (Yes, I have dramatic tendencies.) Updating my review here: compared to 11:15 am on a weekday, &pizza is much busier at 3 pm on a weekend. The line today moved just as slow (it's really just the speed of the oven) but there were many more people working FOH and putting together pizzas. I ordered the Gnarlic again but this time it was pieced together in a hurry, so I received less basil and garlic oil. Conversely my pizza was a little less salty. Great signature pizzas. My first time here and I ordered the Rueben Pizza. It was excellent. It had a large amount of corned beef and cole slaw. It was actually a great pizza. I wasn't a fan of their fountain drinks and had to get a soda from the next door restaurant (as &pizza doesn't serve any Coke or Pepsi products). Most of the staff seemed disgruntled and were not friendly. When I asked a question or inquired about the ingredients it seemed to be a massive inconvenience to them and their responses made up my mind I would not be returning. We didn't add anything extra because we watched to try their pizzas as is. Boy oh boy, I LOVED my pizza. I ate over half of the pizza in that sitting for lunch. The mix of everything, the sauces, the mushrooms, and the cheese, just went so perfectly together. It even tasted great heated up later! I don't know how I feel about the customization, only because I have no idea what I would do with my pizza. I kind of wish there were more set options. There are probably some online that I could find, but still. I'm not creative enough! But the endless customization makes it a place to go back to over and over, to try new things out!
