Some of the best chicken and waffles my wife and I have had in Long Beach. We had an errand to run in DTLB, so took a walk to enjoy the weather. We passed by this place, remembering fondly the previous tenant (formerly Pier 76). Even though we had already eaten lunch (thus wasn't hungry) and was going to eat dinner later. I wanted to try out their food and it ended up being really good, better than my expectations. There is ample seating inside, and our greeter/server was super friendly. We told him we weren't really hungry, but did want to try their specialty so he suggested the Cajun Fried Chicken & Waffles ($21.99). The only choice of chicken is boneless breast meat. It came out pretty quickly and the meat wasn't dry at all. And the cajun breading was abundant, breaking off and adding spicy crunch to every bite. The waffles themselves were perfect, slightly sweet, fluffy. I understand a bit better the obsessions with chicken and waffles: a bit of chicken, a lot of the breading crunch, with a large piece of fluffy waffle and a good amount of sweet syrup...it's a great bite. We came to & Waffles today for the first time. Wow.... Luckily we arrived early before 9 AM because there was already a good amount of people dining. The restaurant is spacious and clean. We were greeted and then seated in a booth right away. ALL of the staff were friendly: our servers were great and offered excellent recommendations. Everything we ordered (see pics) was excellent: I had the smoked salmon omelet with Gruyère cheese on top which was delicious. The waffle was perfectly cooked. My husband loved that Cajun Country Skillet: it was a huge dish so he brought some home. Our server had the churro waffle cut into sticks so we could share it easily. Food was a definite 5 stars but the service brought our score down. While initial waitress was absolutely delightful, she either got called away or there was a shift change as we had to ask the hostess for silverware then waited for refills and finally had to go find someone such that we could pay our bill. It's rare when I whole heartedly give 5 stars but it's deserved. I've been coming in for the last 4 weeks straight on Saturday mornings and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. You walk in and it feels industrial with the black ceilings and concrete floors but it works the walls being white with the pop of yellow and the waffles tie in together, it doesn't give cold it gives someone thought this out even the chairs the brown texture you don't notice but it gives warmth and connects the colors of the waffles. You're greeted warmly and promptly as soon as you walk in, there is no lack of energy or content, you're seated and you noticed the staff working together seamlessly. A couple seconds go by and poof your waiter appears. I can't express enough how each time I've been I've had a great experience with each waiter/waitress. You wouldn't think a waffle place has great service and that's where they shine besides the food. Energy, attentiveness and connection. Each waiter/waitress has gone out their way to check in and make sure everything was going well more times than I could imagine. You might be wondering about the food I was too, I didn't expect much. I thought another waffle place, just pass me the syrup and keep my water coming and I'll be fine. And then you take your first bite and the fluffy, crispy but airy delicious waffle hits your tastebuds and you're hooked! The powder sugar on top is the perfect amount and the strawberries are a good balance. I also ordered the chicken breast and if you order it extra crispy it comes perfectly cooked. I didn't expect it to be so seasoned as in I had nothing to add. It was if I made it at home, chicken breast cut in half so it's evenly cooked with every bite and the spices just hit! I also ordered the biscuit and gravy because well I just had to, you can't pass up a good gravy. After seeing a post about this on Instagram, my friends and I really wanted to try it. And oh my gosh, what a yummy menu they have! The server was great, I wanted chicken and waffles but with all the different flavors of waffles, I wanted to see if I could mix a match and I was able to do so! So I ordered half regular waffles and the other half of the order was churro waffles. And I wanted the chicken, I asked our server about the Cajun chicken and he highly recommended it saying it was not spicy. So it's a little bit of hesitation because I'm always worried about spicy, I ordered the Cajun chicken and waffles. Can I say... That Cajun fried chicken was amazing! It was so good... It was tasty, soft not tough, and it was not spicy whatsoever. But super flavorful! Highly highly recommend the Cajun spiced fried chicken! The churro waffles were good, as for the plain ones. It was a lot of food, it wasn't inexpensive though... But being able to take the leftovers home for another meal made it worth the price. FYI, their corn beef hash is canned... Which I actually love canned corn beef hash but not for the price at a restaurant. My other friends ordered their regular breakfasts, and the girl in our party whose birthday we were celebrating turning 19, she ordered the cake batter waffles I believe? She loved them. I love this place! I eat here atleast once every 2 weeks if not more often. It's right by my home, thankfully. I love that when I'm running around I can pitstop to grab to go before heading home bec they give you a slip to get free structure parking. And there's a door to enter so you don't have to walk around. My go to is a BLTA (no tom) bec they have the best bacon and they put cheddar cheese on it! Delicious . My order is always $27 and change and I usually get the blta w/fries and a drink. It's high but everyone is high now a days and this place is worth it. It's clean and simple which I also like. The food was all delicious! We got the steak and eggs with 1/2 waffle side option. Also a side of hash browns to share. Asked for medium rare in the steak and was closer to a medium but was still juicy and needed a tiny bit of salt. Eggs yolks were perfectly runny for over easy eggs. Waffles were really good I tasted a little hint of a buttery croissant flavor to it with the waffle sweetness. They were soft with a little crisp. Coffee was good as well. Fast service and we went Sunday morning 9:30 ish. Servers were all great and the noise level was a medium. There was outdoor and indoor seating to choose from. Came here for brunch on the weekend after hearing about the place on social media. They are located in Downtown, so finding parking is a little tricky. We just parked at the free 2 hour parking garage a couple blocks away and walked over. It was busy but we were seated right away. I ordered the matcha waffles and a coffee. Also got to try some of their strawberry waffles and they were all good. The waffle doesn't look like matcha but you'll taste it when you start eating it. I'd been hearing the buzz about & Waffles on social media so I decided to visit it's newest location in Downtown Long Beach. We entered and we were immediately greeted and given options on where to sit. Service is amazing. We were fortunate to be served by the owner himself, Sergio. Sergio is one of the most congenial and kindest business owners I've met. He was extremely attentive and came back several times to check in on us. No one was ignored by him, he made time for all those dining at the restaurant. The ambiance was great. It's got a nice, modern vibe. There are tables, booths, and bar seating. It's good for two, small families, and even large parties. The decor is kept simple and pleasing to the eye; lots of plants everywhere, framed photos, and some Instagrammable wall art. One of its best features is that there's music that isn't so loud that you can't have a conversation. Saving the best for last...the food! I need to preface this by saying that I am not a waffles person. I like waffles, I love my homemade waffles, and waffles at restaurants are always hit or miss. Waffles at restaurants tend to be dense and over filling. If I get to finish them I feel beyond full and a little nauseous if they're sweetened. Waffles are not my go to breakfast dish. How could I go to a restaurant whose name is & Waffles and not try them?? Sergio suggested the churro waffles and I'm so glad I tried them. They were flavorful, light but very filling and they didn't over do it. They were the best waffles I've had in my life, and I write that without exaggeration! They're SO good! I also had eggs and hash browns. I was super surprised at how fresh the hash browns were. Later, Sergio let us know that all of their food is fresh and never frozen. I ordered a hot tea, and when I asked for more hot water and another tea bag, I was charged again. It's honestly wild to pay that much for a single tea bag when you could buy an entire box of black tea for the same price. There's a lot right next to the restaurant and they validate, found this out after the fact. There's place wasn't too busy but it was probably after 1pm when I arrived. I chose to sit inside but the patio would be nice when the weather is warmer. Started off with a vanilla latte with oat milk which was really good. I ordered the Cajun chicken & waffles... I can say for certain they know how to make chicken & waffles! The serving size is huge, can definitely be shared. I appreciated that they offered a variety of hot sauces and even had a habanero salsa. The restaurant interior was very nice and pleasant, with tables spread out nicely and varied for different party sizes. Music was great as well. I knocked off one star because my waffle was cold to slightly warm. It did warm up well at home the next day. I have been to another location of & Waffles so I was excited to try this location and it did not disappoint. The food was served hot and fresh and looked amazing. All of us enjoyed our meals and the food was fantastic. I had the bacon waffle which had bacon in the waffle and on top. Two of our party had biscuits and gravy and they both thought it was amazing and the fourth person had strawberry banana waffles with chicken on the side and it was all scrumptious. OMG....this place is the BEST! We happened to find it and didn't know what to expect but we had the best experience! It is super convenient and has a parking in the garage in the building that they validate. We were greeted and seated immediately by the owner Serg! Talk about a great guy! He personally took the best care of us and the service was impeccable. The food was awesome! We had the eggs Benedict and the Cajun chicken and waffles. Both were tasty and the presentation was gorgeous. At the conclusion Serg brought us a plate of the churro Belgian waffles...WOW!!! They literally melted in my mouth. We visited this Waffle House in Long Beach this morning because it showed "vegan options" online but that turned out to be pretty misleading. The only vegan option was avocado toast for $18, and that price included bacon and eggs. If you swap those out for mushrooms and tomatoes (to make it vegan), they actually charge you an extra dollar so you end up paying more for less food. I asked for the mushrooms and tomatoes on the side since mushrooms can be hit or miss, but the toast came with both on top anyway and even had melted cheese on it. Not vegan. Our server Valerie, though, was incredibly sweet and the only real bright spot of the experience. She apologized right away and brought me new plain toast (no butter) with avocado on the side so I could make my own. She even caught that the kitchen accidentally buttered the first batch and had it remade. I really appreciated her attention and kindness. My friend's meal looked great, but as a vegan it's tough to eat at places that make something as simple as avocado toast so complicated and overpriced. It wouldn't be hard to have at least one solid vegan option - even vegan waffle or pancake batter is easy to make and could be priced the same. Overall, the experience was just okay. I have seen the "coming soon " sign for forever and was super excited to see it actually opened. We got seated right away and were served by Christian and he was soooo awesome! The place is a little small, but there is outside seating but it was a little cold so no one was out there. Very cute and a lot of seating for the small space. I had the waffle combo and I was so surprised by how light and fluffy the waffles were. They look so big and daunting but they are not dense and instead super light and flaky and delicious I fell in love with them! I kinda wish I had just got the waffles only just so I could eat more of them! Eggs were not over cooked, perfect and creamy. My husband got the wings and waffles and he loved them! Long Beach local here- 5 stars for this place, hands down. I've never had a more perfect waffle... crispy on the outside yet not overcooked or dry. Slightly sweet but not drenched in sugar. Chicken on top was well-seasoned and moist. Yes, the pricing is slightly higher than other breakfast places in LBC, but this place is located in downtown (higher rents downtown). And the service and quality of food make up for that. Our server, Chode, was super attentive and made our first visit here extra special. If I have any positive feedback for this place on how to be EVEN BETTER, I'd say they need to juice up their curb appeal. We've walked past this place tons of times and for whatever reason, it never caught our eye or looked appealing. That's also a consequence of being a business located downtown though, however (the flight and grime sometimes can be a deterrent). The parking garage leads directly into the restaurant and the parking is validated. We were greeted with a hearty welcome by the staff. One of the owners, Serg,​ was our server and his top of the line service made it impossible for us to not come back. He is so energetic and personable. His recommendations were spot on. Heard this place opened up and went around 11am on a Saturday. Was not packed at all but started to get more busy around noon. The place was very clean and the staff were very nice. First we tried the spiked lemonade with a mystery flavor. Both were different flavors. The blue one tasted more berry like and the green one resembled a buzzball. I enjoyed my blue one and it went well with my meal. I had the waffles Benedict. Truly it was interesting eating it all together but the star was the waffle. The ham was tasty as well and cut very thick. The eggs were the lack luster part of the dish. Typically I get more flavor from the inside yolk and the hollandaise sauce was a solid 8/10, it's what made the eggs tasty. I never had a waffle taste this soft and supple. However for the serving the price was a bit high, but the taste made the price feel worth it. My waffles benefit plate was about 19. My partner had the French toast and he mentioned this wasn't that special and felt he can get a similar French toast elsewhere and made them unenthusiastic to try other French toast. He asked for eggs over medium and they were served over easy. The sausage was fine and not too thick, but felt generic. He did love the portion size of the French toast. Honestly if that was the same size for the waffles I would have no other notes. He tried my waffles and agreed they were better than the French toast. To give you an estimate for all the food pictured the total was 70 which included a tip. Take away the drinks you're looking at around 40 dollar tab for two if y'all only get water and two meals. I would recommend anyone coming here if you're wanting to try a breakfast spot with tasty options and have a medium sized budget. You can park in the public underground parking lot literally attached to it and if you're here for like an hour it's about $5 for parking but you can find a LB city lot close by it can be free or less read more
