I haven't visited Andy's in a few years. When I did go some years ago, the shaping was great quality. Not "Nail Tech" crisp shaping, but great shaping for an Asian owned nail salon. The Swarovski crystals were pricey, so my fill came out more than the actual original set. They didn't communicate the pricing of the crystals being added to the cuticle until the END of my service, which is beyond typical for these types of nail salons. The nails didn't lift prematurely which is rare due to MMA usage in nail salons. The wait was at least 3 hours both times I went even when I showed up prior to open time to help prevent a long wait. I commend and appreciate for Andy making sure all the service providers executed shaping & design skills comparable to his. Most nail salons only have a couple of service providers who can execute quality in shaping and design, most aren't intentional about their service quality unless they are fishing for a tip. It's unfortunate to hear that service quality has declined and Andy has left the shop. read more

Customer service is challenging..., but Ryan is a superstar! He consistently does a great job. Main area they could work on...is scheduling. Even with an appointment be prepared to wait...a long time. 1.5-2hrs. Had a full set done today...and very appreciative of the service received. This review is for the pedicure I received on December 2nd. It pains me to write this because the staff was very friendly. The gentlemen removed some of an ingrown toenail on my right toe. It was pretty painful but I just assumed this was part of the process. I just want to note this has never happened to me before. That night I got home and my toe was red and extremely sore. I figured it was due to the digging he did. Fast forward today December 23rd, I had to have a procedure done at a podiatry office. So the last three sets I've done recently has been with Ryan and I just wanna say I love them! I usually set up an appointment before hand and never really had to wait long like the other reviews say. Service is always welcoming, I just put on my AirPods show Ryan what I want and let him do his magic. Love how he's always precise and always checking to make sure it's shaped perfect which I def appreciate. As for the parking this place is located on mission st so it's either a hit or miss so plan accordingly if your going to drive here. All in all I definitely recommend! read more

This review is for the wax experience only, I have not gotten any other services here. The only good thing about this place is that their pricing is reasonable, but you certainly get what you paid for. I walked in and was helped almost right away. I asked for my armpits and my eyebrows to be waxed but ended up only getting my armpits waxed after the bad experience, I def didn't want them touching my face after! There were a few issues but to start, the woman who waxed me incompetently used the same patch on the wax cloth to wax different areas, despite having plenty of cloth open...let me explain better...she would apply wax and wax half of my armpit, then she applied more wax, and instead of using a clean portion of the cloth, she pressed down the already used side of the cloth (the side that has old wax and hair on) onto me and then ripped from there. This was obviously way more painful and less effective, I left with sore armpits and still quite a lot of hair leftover. The odd thing was she had a fairly large strip of cloth, but instead of using one end and then the other, she once again used the same already used side over the new wax. It was incredibly frustrating. She was also very rough and used the used wax cloth to wipe my armpit instead of using a napkin or paper towel. Ugh it honestly frustrates me to even think about it I 100% didn't want her touching my face and frankly didn't really even want her to do the second armpit, but there I was. She used an old hand towel to wipe my skin as well. Just really gross read more

Got my nails done at Andy's nails for the first time due to my friend recommended. Love this place. Although I didn't have a good first impression but after and little bit I begin to understand the dynamics of the store. The service was bad because of language barriers as well as the attitude of the person greeting you when you first walk in. But Andy the guy that does my nails was awesome. Very professional and skilled in his field. I only show him the nails and design 2 times and he does exactly. All of my nails were not slanted or uneven It was perfect. The only person that does this good work was Xuan Bui from nails bandit. If anything it's the customers service but it's not the skills. This is the first time I came to Andy's Nail Spa and I am very impressed! I waited 2 hours to get my nails done for my prom but it was definitely worth it. The nails (Full Set): I had an ombré design with some shimmer. I showed Andy a photo of the nails I wanted and he did the exact design and the color basically matches! Absolutely love this place. I can say I have had some of my best nail looks achieved by their team. The rhinestones they glued on my last full set never came off until it was time to change the style- they looked PERFECT for 3 weeks. Andy's skill is unmatched and he truly achieves Instagram/Pinterest - level nails. That said-- with that popularity comes very, veryyyy long lines, because they are so insanely busy; bring a book, have a few podcasts ready, bring a sandwich... Do what you gotta do, because unless you're a Jedi, I can guarantee that you'll be there a while. I went there twice around 5:30 PM, and was not out until 8:00 PM. :( One time, I was unlucky enough to go there on a Saturday. Made it in at 10:30 AM, wasn't done until 3:00 PM. Yes, you read that properly, I was the for five flipping hours. Thankfully- I had brought some good music, snacks, my iPad and some work to to, because I would have been so upset wasting 5 hours. Also- they are booked for appointments months in advance, so I always walk in... which again means long waits. You've been warned! Andy is the best nail artist in SF. I have tried many places who all claim to do chrome, ombré or 3D design but none have stacked up to Andy's talent. They always chipped or faded and barely lasted 2 weeks. I have been looking for so long to get the cal gel kawaii style nail design you find in Hawaii. Some things to note- it does get very busy here. Come early if you want to get in especially on the weekend. Tuesday's are slammed. I always wonder think to myself don't these kids have school, but they want the popping nail designs so they must cut classes and flock to Andy. It can sometimes feel like an episode of Claws but that's part of the charm of this place. After being a repeat client for awhile then you can call and get appointments with Andy. He is booked out months in advance- 2-3 months at times during peak Halloween/ holiday. That being said; you can get there right at opening and write your name down and wait. My first time it was a 3 hour wait but once you become a regular it gets easier to get in. Have your photo ready for him too don't hold up the line fiddling through your photo library or Pinterest- Andy does not have time for that. If you don't want a design then don't see Andy. He only does acrylic design too not regular gel but he can do short acrylics. He is super talented and can do just about anything. My only qualm I wish I had found him sooner! read more

Came here with a friend to get our nails done before I went on vacation. Let me just start off by saying, OMG. I asked one of the techs to give me a full set, acrylic/gel with holographic powder and a unicorn decor with a purple undertone. It was perfect! Andy even came over to create the design himself, which was amazing. My friend got a regular gel mani, and she requested a flame pattern. Andy himself, worked on her nails, and even though she has small nails, he was still able to make them look gorgeous. The price wasn't too bad; I've definitely paid way more for manis in the past. The only thing I didn't like was the wait time. We waited for almost 2 hours to be called, after putting our name down on the list. Someone even complained and was able to get ahead of us by manipulating one of the eye techs *eye roll* However, I most likely will be returning soon when I have the time! read more

First time coming to Andy's Nail Spa and surprised how my nails turn out at the end. First off, once they open their store there's already people waiting, there were 3 people ahead of me and my friend when we got to the nail spa 30 mins after opening. It was about an hour wait, but we weren't in a rush so it's fine. The girl (forgot her name, but thank you for doing my nails ) that did my nails did just like the picture I showed her on my phone with a little gold glitter bling. She knows her stuff and took her time trimming, shaping, and designing on my nails. $55 for a gel nail design is not too bad, Plus $9 eyebrow waxing (another lady did a very good job), total came out $64. Parking wise, there all mostly meter parking so bring lots of change if you don't want to use your bank card. Luckily we parked about a blocked away from Andy's. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Terrible customer service. After opening back up when the shelter in place was lifted it just seems like they don't care about customer service and professionalism. Maybe it's because Andy doesn't work there anymore. They don't listen to what you want like Sandy painting your toes with gel Polish when you asked for regular polish and when you finally notice and say something she tells you it's only $5 more, Ryan telling you he's using the color of the powder acrylic you originally chose when he really didn't because he messed up and doesn't want to do it over and Donna messing up your design on your nails and when you ask her to do it over because you don't like it and because you'd rather her do a much easier one she laughs in your face and refuses to do it saying no she's not going to do it over. I've been coming to this nail salon for 2 years they always had bad customer service but I had to put up with it because Ryan did a great job on my nails but now their customer service has gotten worse and I have to keep telling Ryan how to file my nails like it's new to him or something, my nails just don't come out as good as they did before so there's no point in continuing services with them. read more

Yes, the wait can sometimesss be hours BUT I've been coming here for a year and a half and there's a reason why. No one does it better!! No one! Andy is a genius and expects a skillful staff. He's not going to hold your hand and have girl talk with you, but he will give you the best quality acrylic nails you've ever had. For me that's worth the wait and more important than ambiance. If you want to be seen quickly and have your nails done in a posh place, go to a boutique salon - but that will be reflected in the cost and quality *still* won't compare. If you have a problem with them and get an attitude, they're not going to fall at your feet apologizing because they have a steady stream of loyal customers. But if you treat them with respect and patience, they will do the same for you. Over time they will recognize your face and come to remember your name - some are just more conversational than others. Also, Sandy, the pedicure technician, is an absolute delight. I wish I could afford to get my toes done every time because she is so gracious and goes through great effort to have a conversation, despite English not being her first language. These people work tirelessly all day serving customer after customer because there are always people waiting and no one recognizes how dedicated they are. Thank you Andy's Nail Spa! My tip is if you want to be seen more quickly, either show up 30 minutes+ before they open or call ahead to see if they're busy! read more

I love Andy's. Andy and Elise always do an amazing job on my nails! Elise shapes them exactly the way I like them (extra pointy) and Andy comes in and designs the shit out of them. I only ever get acrylics and fills here, but I've been going since December and only had to get a new full set once. I work with my hands a ton (I'm a barista) and my sets always last me three weeks, which is insane given how much abuse I put hands through. All the techs are nice enough. If you're used to going to the marina and getting waited on hand and foot this place is not for you but if you want quality work then Andy's is your spot. read more

Absolutely love it here ! this is the only nail salon i will go to and Andy does the nails so beautiful. Yes there is sometimes a long wait but i definitely think it's worth waiting. Andy makes sure the shape is perfect and makes sure everything isn't messy and looks good. The prices aren't as cheap but for normal acrylic it's 60 unless you get designs or other stuff. Came on a Thursday afternoon and waited 1 hour and 20 minutes. Did not request for Andy but luckily, he assisted me. First impressions the place is extremely crowded. Most of them are regulars. I can hear conversations between Andy & team and the customers. Andy & team seem to have great memory. I showed Andy a picture of what I wanted. Right away he went to work. The whole process took 20 min. Andy is super fast, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the work he does. For $38, I got acrylic and gel. SUPER good deal compared to other nail salons, and those other salons don't have nearly as much creativity and experience as andy&team. No wonder the place is packed and business is booming.
