I ordered a margherita pie tonight, which was supposed to be fresh mozzarella, PLUM tomatoes, PESTO, on a SESAME SEED crust, what we got was not plum tomatoes, in fact it was mostly tomato ends, no pesto but a bunch of cut up basil, and not a sesame seed crust, in fact the entire crust was burnt and so hard I almost broke a tooth. Very disappointed, and I hate leaving bad reviews but I hope that next time, and I'm local so there will be a next time, it will improve! read more

I am a Bronx boy who moved down to Texas and missed some good NY pizza. Yelp was my go-to for many other restaurants but in this case it let me down. It could be me, but while the crust was typical NY pizza , the toppings, especially the mushrooms were muah .... the mushrooms were not fresh but canned. Maybe it was me, but I was disappointed. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. It's old-school, the people are friendly and nice, and the garlic knots look amazing. But honestly, the cheese pizza was good but not amazing or life-changing. It's standard NY pizza parlor pizza that does the job in plain and simple terms at a good price point. But the crust was on the softer/floppier side, and I personally prefer a thinner, crisper crust. The sauce did have a nice kick of oregano and you taste the herbs a bit more than at some other places, so that is likely what people are raving about when it comes to the tomato base. The garlic knots are actually really disappointing, though. They're kind of vinegary rather than garlicky, and the oil doesn't soak into the puffy knots. The texture was also kind of nondescript. It was puffy but didn't have either chew OR crunch, and little flavor to boot, other than the overwhelming acid of jarred garlic liquid (not juice, since it was definitely more citrusy/vinegary than savory). I'd give them another shot with the heroes or a topped pizza (they seem very generous with their toppings), but will have to continue my search for the perfect knots since Gino's of Tuscany in Islip closed. So basically, a solid option for classic Long Island pizza, but not my top choice. read more

I'm torn with this review. You can say that I ordered the wrong thing but a cook should know how to use their ingredients. Hubbs and I stopped here on the way to a party because we weren't sure of the food sitch so we wanted to make sure we were fed before a night of drinking. We were actually looking for a liquor store and this pizzeria happened to be right across the street from one. We put in an order for three slices, two plain for hubby and one with mushrooms and garlic for me. We went across the street to get a bottle for the party and by the time we returned, our order was ready. We decided to sit in and eat. When I opened the pizza box to add condiments, I immediately noticed that instead of using fresh garlic, they used that minced garlic from a jar that basically swims in oil that only makes the garlic strength extra powerful. This was a concern since that type of garlic can be extremely pungent and oily. It's kind of gross and no restaurant, whether pizzeria or otherwise, should even use it and if they do, they should use it quite sparingly. After one bite, my mouth was burning from the strong concentrated garlic flavour. I knew I couldn't eat it. I tried to scrape off the garlic with a straw and then, eventually a napkin but it was baked into the pizza and that stench lingered. I called time of death and just ate half of one of my husband's slices. Their pizza is actually good but they just need to use better judgment when adding toppings, I guess. I didn't complain to anyone because we just didn't have the time to wait for more pizza as we were already over an hour late for our event that evening. So, I can't really say if they would have or would not have accommodated me by giving me another slice. I didn't give them a chance so, I'll stick to a 3-star eating because regardless of anything, one should know better than to use a whole tablespoon of canned/jarred minced garlic in oil on a mere single slice of pizza. It was so nasty and inedible but the upside is that the half slice I did eat was very good. read more

You have to come here it's so sooooo good! They now have great specialty slices because Angela's had a new owner! It is in Islip on 111 just south of 27. It used to be a great old-school pizzeria with a fantastic sauce and simple classic toppings, but didn't really do the specialty-slice-thing. Now the new owner Vinny is putting out a good amount of really great pies, but he also is keeping the awesome pizza sauce from the original owners Sal and Francesca! They were so nice and their sauce was of of my favs on the island! I'm so happy they kept that sauce. The new biggie mac slices are crazy good! The sauce he makes for that is tangy, savory, and not too sweet, it's so damn delicious you have to try it! I live out in Huntington and I would make it a point to stop at og Angela's, with the og owners, when visiting my friend Greg's auto service [on Montauk highway and Irish ln] (great trustworthy mechanic btw!). Now I've come out here just for the biggie mac it's so perfect! I've also had the ravioli alla vodka slice and is was awesome! I love the grandpa slices, which not a lot of places make! I have to say the Brooklyn style is also a must try if you like the original pizza sauce. It gets an awesome crispy crust from the deep round pan it's cooked in, and it has the og sauce with fresh mozzarella instead of the normal aged moz. Even those pans he uses are worth mentioning because they give such a deep crispy crust, which hold up really well for all the specialty slice toppings and sauces, and it adds a nice lightly toasty flavor. I've lived in Islip over 15 years and I have never been to Angela's. I've always gotten my pizza from Mulberry Street or Americano. We were coming home one night from out East and decided to give it a try. My husband and I were very pleased with the flavor. While I usually prefer a very thin crust, this pie/pizza is more of a thick crust. It had plenty of cheese and what I loved most was the sauce. I would definitely come back to Angela's for pizza. I have heard lots of people rave about it so I'm glad I gave it a try. If you are hoping for a thin crust pizza, you will be disappointed. But now that you know it's a thicker, denser pizza, expect. When I picked up the pie, it was very heavy. So, I knew it was going to be a thick pizza. For almost $20, for a big pie, I was expecting it to be great. And it was! I was pleasantly surprised. Monday, February 22, 2021 @ 6 p.m.ish. We came out from Park Slope, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens for the Fundraiser for Our Little Warrior Enzo. The owner( Vinny) and the staff were still setting up but, took time to welcome us and introduce themselves. We settled in and looked over the menu and when we went up to place our order...Vinny told us not only did they have lemon chicken but, chicken francese which won over the lady I was with. Food was made fresh and came out in a timely manner. Garlic Knots were SPOT ON. Nice Garlicy Olive Oil knots of deliciousness. Veal and Mushroom Parm hero. Was huge with lots of flavorful tender Veal mushrooms and cheese. Enough for 2 meals. Chicken Francese with fresh soft Italian bread...the sauce was made with Lemony Velvety Love with 3 nice size egg dipped cutlets. Definitely, a must have. Eggplant Parm with baked ziti...now this dish was made very old school. Plenty of nice thinly sliced eggplant with cheesy marinara with cheesy saucy ziti. Known to feed 2 or 3 people but, it was so hot, melt and delicious I kept eating it until it was all gone. I would definitely dine here or grab food to go again and highly recommend the food here. I didn't try the pizza yet but, it looked fresh and the specailty slices looked good and others that had the pizza said it is good and delicious. Thank You to the owners and staff at Angela's for hosting and executing a beautiful fundraiser. Decent food, lousy atmosphere. Each time I go there, there's new faces behind the counter. It makes me wonder, then I recall times when one particular guy (maybe the owner, maybe the manager) screams at employees in front of customers in English, Italian, and maybe a few other languages. Either way, it's not a good thing. During my most recent trip there, I arrived on time after placing my order by phone. When I got here, the young woman at the register told me it would be ready in a few minutes. Perfectly understandable. It's a Friday evening during Lent. As I waited for the order, a regular pie and a couple of calzones, there were several people that came in after me and they were just looking for individual slices. The guy who I think is the owner (the one who yells at the rest of the workers) offers one of them a pie for $4. The same thing happened a few minutes later with a different perSon that just walked in. GREAT! I'm standing in a crowd of people waiting for a pie and these people just wander in an are offered one at an 80% discount. Pretty insulting to those of us who were waiting patiently for our orders. I especially took offense because I am in there at least twice per week and have been a loyal customer. When they asked me my name for the third time, I gave it and they told me that my order had been on top of the oven the entire time. Got home and had to reheat the entire meal. Thanks a lot. For a family get-together, we placed an order for two pies with garlic knot crust. When we picked up the order I noticed, while boxing the 2nd pie, that it did not have garlic knot crust. I asked the guy behind the counter (who we later found out was the owner) if the other pie had the garlic knot crust, he replied, "that part of the order was canceled." I told him that I did not cancel anything and he sat there with a blank face. Then he asked with a nasty attitude if I wanted him to remake the pies. After I replied with "yes", that set him off. He started getting aggressive and throwing things around. He asked me what my problem was and said, "it's not the end of the world bud." Astonished at what he said, I asked for the food that was there and left. The employees seemed scared of him and the one who took our order profusely apologized after the owner left the room. The owner has severe anger issues and takes it out on his paying customers. So disappointed that this was Angela's Pizza Parlor, now someplace I will never set foot in again if it was the last pizza parlor on earth. read more

This pizza place has been in business over 35 years. The new owners Tara and Vinny Have done an amazing job keeping the original recipe and adding 25 new flavours including a big Mac, a caprese,a pizza zone (half pizza half Calpine with a garlic knot crust, Everything is fresh. They make custom orders all the time and everyday Vinny is creating a new pie. There isn't anything his hands cannot create ..I'm impressed. We ordered a tray of Greek salad yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. But when they pulled out the rainbow cookie zeppolis..I thought I was in heaven. Vinnie is part of the Bono family who have made excellent pizza for over 50 years on Long Island. I think hes the Pizza King of Long Island ask him to flip the pie for you and I'm not talking about the dough he can actually flip an entire pie with the pizza handle... His wife Tara is a doll.. 5 stars for this amazing pizza place.. My favourite is the balsamic Caprese pie but I also love the diabetic friendly cauliflower crust cheese pie with garlic... omg. i moved to the area about a year ago and this was my go-to place since, until last week. i had ordered a pizza kit about a month ago to make with my friend, we chose the personal pies for $15- two doughs, enough sauce and cheese for both. i had called ahead to verify what it was that came in them. it was great, and a lot of fun to make, and a pretty good deal too. so last week we wanted to get two of these kits, and we went in person to order them. this time, we got two of the smallest balls of dough i've seen, and not even enough cheese for one pie. when i went up to the counter, they insisted that what they had given me was correct, but it was definitely not. i wouldn't have ordered that when i could just get an already made pie for basically the same price. a woman came over to help the girl who was helping me, and they doubled down on the fact that i was wrong. the owner then overheard and started yelling at everyone, including me. to make matters worse, he then called the second woman "mom." the woman that he was yelling at in front of a customer was his mother!!!! he then started yelling about how everyone was wasting his time. well don't worry, i won't waste your time anymore. and ma'am, i'm sorry your son acts like that in his place of business. this isn't the first time i've seen him yell at you. read more

This place will literally throw anything on top of dough and call it a pizza. At first it was cute and creative but it has now pushed the boundary and is just plain disgusting. I've given it countless opportunities and each time I am left dissatisfied. A single pizza for takeout has no means weighing the same as a toddler. Why does it weigh so much? Because it is overloaded with nonsense ingredients. The owner is there frequently and to be honest, you'll probably wish he wasn't. The pizza out for display looks like it was made three days ago and typically also looks nothing like what you'll actually receive for your order. Nothing will ever beat the old Angela's Pizzaria. I'm a big fan of the best pizza, but the new owners just don't know how to bring the sicilian/regular slices to life. It always leave saying, it's never going to be the same again. I'm sorry guys, but the sauce is lacking flavor. The bread on the regular slice is good. However, it seems that the pizza is dried up. When I ordered any type of slices from Angela's in the past(whether it was an old slice, or new), it was made with the finest ingredients(sauce included)...and most importantly, always had life, and flavor. I have been going to this pizza place for the past 30 years which is basically my whole life. We live around the block on commack road and me, my friends, and our family frequent Angelas. We knew the old owners and their family has lived in the community for longer than my family I believe. I cannot think of anyone more qualified to take over this pizzeria and Sal made a good choice trusting his legacy to Vinny D. Coincidentally the new owners is one of my best friends from high school. So I went in to see how it was. Well for years Angela's pizza refused to change and adapt by updating their menu with new speciality pizzas. Now they have these pies too BUT they also have the same recipe for their regular and Sicilian pizza that the old owner used. So it's really what I've been waiting for. I remember going there after having a buffalo slice somewhere in like 2006 and when I asked the old owner if he had buffalo chicken slice, he looked at me like I had ten heads, and I felt like an idiot haha I ordered a "Classic" Sicilian slice, a "Classic" regular slice, a new to Angela's specialty ravioli slice (which I ate before the pic sorry lol), and a new to Angela's specialty chicken bacon ranch slice. And let me tell u they were all amazing. I was also pleased to see vinny the owner offering free food for some woman to try. He introduces himself to each customer and it's just a great thing to see. The Sicilian and regular tasted exactly the same as it did last year or maybe even better so don't worry if your afraid they changed it. Best pizza I had so far locally. Cheese and sauce was balanced and crust was good. Definitely will going to go back and try again.

I buy their pizza when in town but one experience knocked it from 5 stars to 3. I bought their Calzone and threw up right after eating it. It tasted old, oily and disgusting. I had to throw it out right after. The garlic knots were swimming in oily garlic that obviously has been sitting in a jar for a very long time. What they do best is pizza. They serve one of the best pizzas on long Island for sure but that's pretty much it. Also, It's a cash only business. read more

Oh Em Gee!!! I live in Virginia and my Mother-in-law brought her new favorite pizzas down when she just came for a visit!!! All I can say is WOW!!! She brought a Big Mac, caprese, and Mac and Cheese pizzas and I couldn't tell you which I liked the most!!! My kids, husband, and I are planning a trip up to NY sooner rather than later bc if these pies were THAT good after traveling to VA, I can only imagine how good they will be fresh from the oven!!!!! And I have a request.....any chance you could open up a shop down here in VA?!?! Pretty please!!!!! We have nothing remotely like that here and i have no doubt it would be a smashing success!!!
