Excellent BBQ Items and Chicken Biryani. We tried BBQ Plates 1 and 2 ...both were awesome, would recommend the second plate more though. We also ordered butter chicken and that was very good too. My mom and I checked out this neighborhood gem during lunch one day. We took the food to go, so we weren't able to experience the full service. But, they were super helpful in helping us select the items we were looking for. The food was super delicious!! The chicken was marinated perfectly, and oh so tender! Sorry to be a downer but out experience at Anmol was not up to the hype here on Yelp. The food was good, but nothing to rave about, you can get better nehari and larger portion at Sabri and better Kabobs at Khan BBQ. Portions were also on the smaller side compared to other places. The real kicker was they had a coupon on a Muslim version of Groupon that they gave us problems about. We called ahead and asked if we had it on our phone, was that okay? We were told yes as long as it was an iPhone (since it is not an app, I don't see why it matterd) but we had an iPhone. When paying we were told it was only good for certain hours, which was not stated on the coupon. Then told we needed to print it out, we called in and it was okay. Then told you could not pay with a credit card. DON'T OFFER COUPONS/DISCOUNTS IF YOU DO NOT HONOR THEM. And even after the discount it was still more than Sabri??? I guess I must be a rare exception, but I just don't get all the positive reviews for Anmol. Went over to Devon on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch before heading back to the burbs, and since my primary choice (Ghareeb Nawaz) was unexpectedly closed, I began my trek home until I saw this place with the OPEN sign lit. Saw all the great reviews on Yelp, so I decided to give it a whirl. The layout is open and surprisingly large for a Devon-based restaurant, but it was completely empty! I was the ONLY one there at 12:30pm, which was unusual, but I trusted Yelp so I stuck around. Ordered the combo #2 and a tandoori roti as the main course while munching on stale complimentary papad. The kabobs were tiny to say the least. My lamb chop was more like a lamb sliver, but it was tender so it had that going for it. Chicken shaslik was bland, tilapia tasted and smelled off, and the beef was overly spiced. Service was friendly and the place was clean, but for Devon dining, my bet is still Ghareeb. read more

Awesome food. I guess it's Pakistani? Lots of meat on the menu, of course, as it has barbecue in the name. Very tasty. I found it different than Indian food, but maybe "better" than Indian. One negative for me: they don't sell alcohol. I asked about BYOB, and was told that this restaurant has a "no alcohol" policy. That's a personal choice, but a restaurant in Chicago that doesn't allow BYOB is at a disadvantage. Lots of non-Muslim diners here. They were very friendly & helpful with the menu. Beware!! Unfortunately this is one of those restaurants where the service depends on if you are Pakistani and the hype is over rated. Also if you are coming here to redeem restaurant.com voucher this business will not honour the voucher. Manager and owner was very rude. We had a restaurant.com voucher hence why we came He accused us of making a "fake coupon". Restaurant.com is an actual app. He wouldn't even come to talk to us kept sending the server. No customer service. When he did come out very rude until he realize I spoke Urdu. He said that this coupon is made up. Clearly they sign up just to get customers but don't honour their end of the bargain. Came for a dinner with a party of 8. After ordering it took us over an hour and a half to get our food. Usually that means that it's made fresh so we didn't complain. We ordered samosa appetizers but they weren't anything great and extremely over priced. They had appalams (dry crispy cracker) with chutneys but again nothing to bend your hunger. 1.5 hours later food arrives. Unfortunately the portions are so small. We ordered the anmol platter 1 which costs $22. The lamb chops were as small as chicken wings. The fish was cut so small it was dried up. I was actually shocked at the portions of food. Half the food was still getting made. Naans were missing. Considering they had enough time you'd think they would get the order right. Briyani wasn't anything special too oily for my liking. Karahi only had enough meat for one person. Very very small portions you're getting ripped off. So we made a reservations we are three couples and one child. One of our friends wife is not indian. They had the audacity to tell her to sit on opposite side because women and men sit separate. Apparently there was a family beside us who sat men and women separate. I completely understand that some families prefer pardah or separation but as a restaurant it's rude to enforce that on other guests. So that's strike one. Servers who brought your food and took the orders were nice but they were completely over worked. Too many tables for them to handle but they did their best. I'm surprised they have so many reviews. A few weeks ago I came across Anmol on Grubhub. Since then it has become a favourite for take out, and occasionally for dine-in when I am near their location on Devon Avenue. Their delivery service, by the way, is expeditious and courteous. The food itself is fantastic. One of their signature dishes, the habanero-mango chicken is outstanding: full of the habanero flavour but without the overwhelming heat. OMG the mixed grill in this place is amazing it was so tender and soft and succulent . I have lived 23 years in London with one of the best desi restaurants, but I have not tasted anything so soft and succulent . Don't get me wrong it was quite spicy but it was one of those dishes I couldn't get enough of. The decor was very minimal, it seemed very much so like a cafeteria but the food more than makes up for it. The restaurant had a very subtle atmosphere, but very substantial for Devon st restaurant. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was amazing, she really looked after us and gave really good recommendations. I didn't try any of the curries or rice dishes but I usually can cook those kind of food at home. Anywho, the bbq was good, the frontier chicken and Nihari were A-Ok, I've had a LOT better Daal Gosht but the thing that struck me the most was that the Brain Masala actually had a Fishy smell to it, I'm guessing since they make the Brain Masala practically in the same dish as they fry fish it got some of that smell in there as well....All in all the food wasn't bad, but a bit pricey.....for a $100 I can cook for an army!!!! read more

My new favorite go-to place. I googled, yelped and went down the list of Indian restaurants in West Rogers Park and came up with little to point me to the best place to order some good grilled, curried or baked chicken. Anmol was simply the first restaurant that offered delivery for less than $20 minimum and served meat. I took a chance and called them. They are a Pakistani restaurant but the dish I ordered had the seasonings and cooking styles that reminded me of Indian cooking. I Ordered at 8:00 and they were very helpful although I don't think the person who took my order was experienced at it. Though it went a bit slow, he was very polite so I didn't hold it against him. I ordered the platter #2 on the site since I wanted chicken to go with a vegan black-eyed pea curry I'd made. The food came about an hour later from a gentleman who called me first for directions to my building. Apparently he was not familiar with my block. I am right in their neighborhood so I don't think they are used to delivering food, but he was very nice as well. Anyway the food: that random on a spur call was the best gamble I'd made in a while. I'm only familiar with the most popular of Indian dishes like Tandoori and Vindaloo - so these were pleasant surprises each meat was cooked expertly - tender, well-seasoned and fragrant. I only tried the mint yogurt chutney since my curry was spicy and the chicken had a bit of a kick. I also ordered rice and naan. The rice was fantastic! I've never had basmati rice that good: fragrant, no stickiness and just darned good all by itself. Garlic naan was my other starch and it was as good as the rice. I ended up eating myself into a near coma. I will visit this place next, now that I know about it. I'd love to see the food presented in the restaurant: the pictures look mouth-watering and I'm saying that after I just stuffed myself.. Highly recommended! read more

We had to ask for water 3 times as they did not bring enough initially for our party of 6 people and then they never checked on us. We used to frequent the Devon street restaurants prior to COVID and prior to our most recent little one. This was our first time trying Anmol and all I can say is wow! The food here was fresh and the ambiance was nice and clean. The kids enjoyed being able to explore the restaurant a bit and the cashier was even nice enough to give the kids candy to keep them occupied. I ordered the Chicken Makhani and it was super tender and quite flavorful. I highly suggest trying the food here, it was an overall great experience! read more

I spend over $82.00 on their shitty ass food with my family and they were not welcoming my total was $65 they charged 15% gratuity which was $10 and $6 tax which was too much I think for three dishes so I gave my card and it was again giving me option to put tip on the receipt and I left $0 on tip because the manager was not welcoming and kind of an asshole. Dropped by here while sampling grub along devon avenue. Tried their kebab platter , and our table wasn't exactly unique in that. Every table had their own sizzling platter. The server even accommodated our request to make a substitution in the platter. One tip, the platter is to be shared among atleast two people, I found that out since I'd been too ambitious and thought I'd make it my personal platter - that doesn't work. Anmol has one of the best customer service at devon. There food is great as well. My personal favorites are their nihari and chicken makhni. They do a decent job on chai and naan as well. Even though the restaurant is not very fancy, they always make you feel very welcomed. If you ever have a complain they handle it very well. For Example, once my nihari was not as perfect as I expect from Anmol. I called in all upset. The person on phone did not argue with me like many restaurants on devon would. He apologized and told me my next nihari order would be on the house. Of course, I never asked for it but them saying that told me that they value my business. So I am there regular ever since. We recently had catering done through Anmol BBQ, we were hosting a gathering of around 25-30 people and had an order of Chicken Biryani (full tray), Veg biryani (med tray) and Veg pakodas (full tray). The food was simply fantastic! everyone at the party loved it! and the best part is that none of it was greasy or loaded with spices..everything was in perfect balance. Also, the quantity which we finalized based on discussion with them was more than sufficient and we didn't have a worry about falling short of food. All this came with appropriate amount of salad, chatni and raita! Really happy with the whole thing, they were extremely cooperative, helped us in deciding the quantity and had everything delivered right on time! I always order the platter 2 (two sausages, two spicy chicken) with basmati rice. The platter is always mind-numbingly good. The mango lassi is dreamy. The naan is decent. Came here for the Ramadan Iftaar buffet with family, definitely make reservations ahead of time. During Ramadan they post their daily iftaar menu on Facebook just fyi. I like that they switch it up from the typical Desi food, they had popcorn shrimp and churros alongside samosas and pani puri, so there's something for everybody. read more
