My family enjoys Anna's Mexican Restaurant, but 3 changes would help them greatly. First, paint the place brighter. It feels like we're eating in a dungeon. Second, turn down the music! It's difficult to hear a conversation, and the louder music makes everyone raise their voices to visit. Finally, why does it always have to feel like a refrigerator when we come in to eat? It's gotten to where we have to take jackets to enjoy our meals. If we forget our jackets, we either don't eat there, or we eat so quickly then leave to get outside to get warm. This is true even on cold days. Lubbock has no shortage of Mexican food restaurants. We enjoy the food, but the three concerns above need to be addressed! read more

Have been back to Anna's recently to see if they improved. We used to enjoy going here, but a year ago, it seemed to go downhill. Our recent visit wasn't any better than last year. Our waitress had too many tables and we ran out of tea and chips. Our enchiladas were not hot and in general the food wasn't that great. I'm really disappointed that we are going to have to mark this place off our list permanently. read more

We have been here twice and have been disappointed twice. The food is okay but the service is really what knocks this place down. Especially with the growing food industry in Lubbock, you would think they would step up their service. I don't blame the young waiters/waitress because it seems like they have not been trained properly. Invest in a capable manager and you will see a major difference. Oh and one more thing, don't charge extra for tortillas. It just pisses people off for literally cents. If you worry more about your service I guarantee you will get more return customers so therefore you don't have to worry about cents. We loved Anna's Mexican Restaurant! We were in town for the NJCAA Women's Division 1 basketball tournament and wanted to take our team out for a celebration meal! We contacted two other Mexican restaurants and they wouldn't accept reservations. But, Anna's did! We went on a Monday night about 7:30 and took about 25-30 people. The food was delicious! They kept the salsa and chips bowls full and our glasses were never empty. It did take a little while to get our food but we didn't mind because we had fun talking and enjoying one another's company. The staff was wonderful and we had a great time! I would highly recommend this restaurant...and to the other two restaurants that didn't accept reservations, it was your loss bc we spent over $500. The food was fast, and the service good but overall it was a dad experience. The food was nasty. The refried beans and the rice both tasted like soap was mixed into it, the enchilada beef was crunchy and grainy like there was sand in it and was obviously not fresh. The "queso" was just melted velveeta, from the microwave no less, and the chips and salsa were not only old but the chips were bagged and the salsa was stale and from a can. This place is really terrible. I had taco, enchilada and chili Relleno. The taco shell was a ready made shell, it was made with hamburger meat. Enchilada was a corn tortilla wraped around cheese and microwaved. Chili Relleno was ok. The resturant was very clean. The service was great. People very attentive. We actually got our food about 5 to 7 minutes after we ordered it. That also tells me microwave. Wife had taco & chili relleno and she left half of it on the plate. We will not return. read more

I'm going to be gracious... I looked this up on Google maps. Mistake. Not a 4.1 star avg place. Food was flavorless, seemed made with generic store bought ingredients then thrown together, salsa was tomato sauce with some...thing added. Food came...too quick. Like right after ordering, which made it hot but tortillas on the enchiladas were hard and uncooked. Chips were dry, bland... Maybe just a bad day? I just moved very close to this place. I have been 3 times in the last month and yesterday was my last visit. (At 1st, i thought I found my new fav place) First time we just had chips and queso (others ate at our table) and the food was ok but the service, not so great! The 2nd and 3rd time I was told NO when asked for certain things. Like can I buy just a taco, ala carte? No.. then I wanted my street tacos on flour tortillas and was told NO, or if they did, it would be a $5 charge!! Are you kidding me? As I sat there, observing the place, I just took in more disappointments. Like the table next to us, with a big party.. didnt get ALL of thier food at once. Wtf? That is the worst thing, to have half your parties food and the other half waiting. Not to mention that a lady ordered guac, which i guess she wanted a FULL SIZE serving and they brought her a 2 oz portion cup. When asked to change it, the server actually took the 2 oz cup from her and took it back to the kitchen. Are you serious?? Not only is that tacky customer service, its a health code violation as well. I then and there decided, unfortunately i wont be back. In Lubbock, Texas there are 100's of restaurants. I refuse to give my money to a place and support thier dreams, when they dont take pride in thier food and service. You can own all you want, have all the rules in the world.. BUT without CUSTOMERS, you have NO business. So id consider some changes soon! Telling customers NO for something as simple as flour tortilllas instead of corn, could end up costing more than you think!! read more

We are a long time customer. We walked in to eat and I went to the bathroom but the door was locked. I went back to my table and waited about 5 minutes and went back. Still locked. I was standing in the aisle waiting. A waitress walks up and says that there is not anyone in there and proceeded to knock on the door. A young man slams open the door and gets in my face like he wants to fight. I am totally surprised by the aggressive behavior. He turns around and goes back to the kitchen. I ask him if we could talk but I was ignored. The waitress was shocked as I was. She said they were having a lot of trouble with guy. I went back to the table and got my wife and left the restaurant. A manager followed me out and said the owner hired that person and was sorry. I said no problem, but would not eat at a place with someone like that due to fact that you can't trust them not to do something to your food. There is a lot of other places where you won't get attitude or attacked when you go there. read more

We ate at Anna's last night. The food is good, not great. The service was slow but adequate, too many tables for the servers. The server charged my card for a different table a 50% difference on the cost. I spoke with the manager, who stated he would correct the situation; however my card was charged with the larger, incorrect bill. $31.35 versus $45.49. I will not return and advise anyone reading this review not eat there either. read more

DO NOT under ANY circumstances eat here. Not only did I get food poisoning, my server was extremely rude when I had to ask to have my food taken back THREE TIMES. I asked for no beans on my burrito, and the same burrito came back to the table with the beans WIPED out of it. Did they not think long enough to know I'd check? I hate being negative about anything, and even more so hate writing negative reviews, but my visit to Anna's was so disappointing, I feel obligated to inform others not to waste their time or money! I rarely go out to lunch, but when a girlfriend suggested Anna's I thought, "oh yea, I forgot about that place, they have excellent food!" I had eaten there years ago and loved it. So off we went. Clean enough. Chips tasted like the oil had been re-used for weeks as they had the "old grease" taste. But the salsa was good. We ordered, and waited, and waited, and waited and waited. The enchilada was as another reviewer stated, a corn tortilla wrapped around cheese and microwaved. Food was lukewarm at best. Beans and Rice were good, Red sauce ok, again everything would have probably tasted better had it been hot enough. Chili Relleno....oh boy. So the batter they used was THICK and somewhat moist, and definitely not light and crispy as it should be. It was almost like eating an egg pancake wrapped around the chili. After one bite, I peeled off the batter (not crust) and just ate the chili and cheese. The server was super nice, but she had a whole half a restaurant to take care of and so the service overall was less than satisfactory because of that. So for the same price, I could have had an excellent meal at another one of my tried and true favorites. I'm still mad I wasted $15 (including tip) on a lousy, lukewarm meal. read more
