I was staying at a hotel in Downtown Burbank and everyone and their momma was telling me that I needed to do Sunday brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe and it definitely lives up to the hype! My friend and I split the Eggs Blackstone Benedict and the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Both were delicious! The former has grilled red tomato slices on an English muffin, topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, chopped bacon and green onions. I found it to be quite tasty. That being said the latter was AMAZING! Toasted bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon and poached eggs, topped with red onions, capers and green onions. We had both with the breakfast potatoes but for an additional charge you can change your side to fruit or grits. I really loved that their featured hot sauce is my favorite hot sauce, which is Crystal and I found the service to be really good. Be prepared to wait if you come for Sunday brunch but my friend and I decided to put our name down and get our steps in around this awesome downtowns area while we put our name down. Seriously, this place is phenomenal. Came by Friday around 12:30 and luckily there was no wait, we snagged a good table on the patio. Our waiter David was super nice and helpful when we had questions about the menu, recommendations, changes, etc. We started with the beignets and omg are these simply outstanding. But not so simple! They are biscuit based and so damn delicious with the amazing orange honey marmalade. Oh these are a must and can not be missed. They come out so hot and fluffy and airy and sweet and so good. I ordered the Crab Benedict with a side of a Lemon Blueberry Ricotta pancake. For the benedict I substituted the english muffin for a biscuit because biscuits are life and eggs benedicts are a bajillion times better with a biscuit! The crab cake was definitely tasting like real crab! Thick crab cakes nicely toasted and full of crab and seasoning. The biscuit was flaky, soft, buttery, so good. The andouille hollandaise was thick, rich, and full of chopped andouille sausage for a nice kick! The eggs were perfectly poached and the potatoes are hot. The pancake was not too sweet, a little tangy, fluffy, soft, and so good! To drink I had Spiked Salted Caramel Cold Brew which had salted caramel, baileys, kahula, and cold brew coffee. Overall, it was a bit rich with the caramel loaded at the bottom and there was definitely not enough alcohol. It was a weak drink and would not recommend it. Overall, this is a solid restaurant. Originally, this was supposed to be a one time treat, but the quality of the food, the top notch service, and the entire experience keeps me coming weekly. I've worked in many restaurants & am now employed as a customer experience manager- which means I know a littleeeee something about f&b service and how important it is. We planned to have brunch here with my girlfriends on a Sunday so we called ahead to make reservations but they informed us that they don't take any reservations so we walked in and they said it will be 30 to 45 minutes wait but we barely got our table after 1 hour and 15 minutes and that's only because my friend went over and saw an empty table and requested to be seated down. They have a very slow service, it took forever for them to take our order and my friend ordered a kids burger for her son first thing with our drinks order since he was hungry and not only it didn't come first but also they made a mistake and it was the last thing we received. I ordered the Traditional Day Starter with perfectly cooked over medium eggs, an English muffin, house made sausage, and fried potatoes. I only have cream with my coffee if they have legit cold creamer in one of those tiny metal pitchers, and this place has that. No on-the-table creamer for me! My friend ordered the cinnamon roll which is so large that it looks like multiple rolls on top of one another. It is perfectly soft and gooey with delicious cream cheese frosting. I'm only giving you '2-stars' because you have very good food, however your service continues to be absolutely awful! That was the main reason we previously stopped going, but since we hadn't been there since before the pandemic we thought we'd give it another try. Never again! We sat at table-21 and BLISS C - our server, could not have been more unfriendly and impersonal! After our food was delivered she walked by our table at least three times and did not stop ONCE to ask 'how is everything?' and/or, 'Do you need anything?' In addition, you have the audacity to charge $4 for a cup of coffee and not once did she ask if we wanted more coffee... I had to ask her for a refill. After that, it's almost as if she was avoiding our table on purpose. My wife and I noticed she was unfriendly the moment she came to our table to deliver menus. I do give people the benefit of the doubt, however before we left, we noticed her smiling, laughing and talking at the host stand. The servers are not entirely to blame. Management here clearly does not know how to properly train staff. And I type this with many years of experience in the F&B industry (including management). We will gladly go elsewhere, where we feel welcomed and receive much better service from servers that appreciate their job. NEVER AGAIN! read more
