I have to begin my review by saying that I really really LOVE another broken egg. We have been going to the jacksonville beach location and the Kernan location ever since they opened and have had nothing but amazing experiences to say the least. However, this riverside location is a completely different story. And this is coming from a genuine and very loyal customer. To start, they DO NOT answer their phone. They might as well not even have one for this location. They also have their online ordering off basically permanently- I've never seen it on or working... and I'll end my reasoning for this negative review with the fact that all FIVE times that we have HAD to walk in and order to go, our food order is missing items or cold. I will say that there was a previous female manager that was absolutely awful at customer service and neglected to take care of certain issues within the location. But the last experience- in which they also messed up our order and somehow forgot two entire pancakes..- there was a new male manager that handled the situation well and gave us some complimentary drinks .... this is just honestly sad because I love another broken egg so much and I refer them to everyone ... but today was the last straw with this location unfortunately. read more

The visit was bad from the very beginning. We reserved our spot on Yelp Reservations as suggested by the giant board outside the door. Once we checked-in the hostess said she would let us know when the table was ready. We stood just outside the door at first but then decided to sit inside to make things easier. We then overhear the hostess talking about "I alerted these people awhile ago but they haven't checked in" and about 2 mins later we get the text alert that the table was ready. Come to find out WE WERE THE PEOPLE SHE WAS ABOUT TO CANCEL! She never took the 3 steps to walk to the door or call aloud our name. The delay was caused by the app!! Once we finally got sat we waited 15 mins before someone came to let us know who our server was and they would be taking our drink order. The coke was flat so we opted for a sweet tea. Finally after another 10 mins or so we finally met our server. We placed our order and rarely saw her again until our drinks were completely empty. After waiting almost an hour we finally got our food. The food is subpar to say the least. The plates were hotter than the food which means the plates sat under the lamp for God knows how long. I can only speak to my experience but the level of service combined with the lack of flavor in the food, is what will prevent me from coming here again. The entire experience was bad. First time here, also new to the area. Wasn't impressed with the food at all, grits were watery with no flavor, added salt to enhance it, which just made it taste like salty water. Coffee was watered down, both hot and iced coffees. Red eye gravy was gross. Service was decent until I saw my bank statement and I was charged and extra $759!!! My bill went from $45+tip to $811 deducted from my account! I'm sure people make mistakes but to not notice you got a hefty tip in one day for a breakfast joint?? C'mon now!! I called the manager at the restaurant who was very nice and reassured me I'd be refunded the overage, it took 3 days (I suppose normal for banks to get refunds) but then to see that the restaurant didn't at least comp the entire bill for the major inconvenience and $759 mistake was appalling! I didn't ask to be refunded the entire bill as I figured if I was the manager I would've gladly extended out that courtesy to the paying customer as a gesture of good will for their employees mistake! First time here. Decided to get some breakfast this Sunday morning. Walked inside and was greeted immediately. They have an outside covered seating area in the front on the building which was neat. After being seated for a few minutes that is pretty chilly inside. A light jacket is preferred. I ordered the broken egg sandwich, which grits. The sandwich was a biscuit, chicken strips, egg topped with their house gravy, with a side of grits. It wasn't really busy my food could've definitely been hotter so that was quite upsetting. The taste of the food was decent. The look was good. I don't think i would return. I would try their coffee which looked delicious but after seeing how they stored. I witnessed them bringing out two pouring cans from the kitchen to the bar just to pour the v coffee contains which already has coffee in them, mixing old coffee with new. First I would like to start off and say that me and my party of five were waiting over 45 minutes when we were told it would be a 25 minute wait, on top of that when we were sat we had to be seated 1 foot away from the bathroom when there was available seating next to us when we requested to be moved the waitress told a lie and said that there was another party coming and 30 mins passed nobody showed up. Was so excited to try this restaurant because of hearing about it, but not knowing where it was. So, today was the day! We got there eager to be seated only to find out there was a 20-30 minute wait...ok, cool. So, the young lady took my info and told me she'd text when seats were ready. 45 minutes pass, no text, nothing. We also notice everyone ahead and a few who arrived after had been seated. Concerned, I went in to see what happened, only to find out that she'd typed in the number incorrectly (no apology from her.) That is something that needs to be fixed, the number should always be verified to prevent what happened to me. So, we get seated immediately after finding out what took so long. Our server was Ashley. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles, and the Floridian Omelette. I was undecided but she offered suggestions and made me feel very comfortable. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and was hot for the most part. My husband's waffle was lukewarm so he asked it to be placed in the microwave which made it kind of soggy as he'd already began to put butter on it. It should've been replaced in my opinion. My omelette was very good! Like I was thinking about it when we left good! The grits had absolutely no seasoning, but after finding salt at another table, that was resolved. Ashley quickly replaced both salt shakers as soon as I told her. Husband's glass was never empty and although busy Ashley checked on us as well. We did order some of the beignets, they were just ok and a little darm, I think the grease could've been fresher. We still enjoyed and will come back...hopefully things will run smoothly next time. When me and my mother walked in the restaurant and the hostess was complaining about getting off going home ...completely arrogant. I guess i should've known not to come at 12 when they close at 2pm, getting left overs of food and quality. The food was Okay but you could tell that it wasn't cooked with effort. My coffee was served in a leaking off brand cup instead of a mug, it was disgusting. Terrible Management vs Awesome waitress Went for my daughter's birthday breakfast with a few family members 2/26. When the food came out For my little one there was a very long strand of hair in and under her eggs which was sent back and replaced. Thanks to our wonderful and patient waitress "Diamond". But when "the rest" of the food came out there was more hair on another plate. I asked for the manager, explained what happened , and advised to make sure the cook was wearing a hair net. Because at this point he needed to know what kept happening. The "Manager" proceeds to say the cooks all wear hair nets and maybe it was hair from their shirts. So while in the back he took a "Lint Roller" and fixed it...Then walked off. Talk about unprofessional and basically not giving a damn. No apology, no concern, just a guy with a title!! This was our 1st & last time here. We will never eat at THIS location again. Apparently management has no clue how to handle a very valid health hazard. Thanks to our wonder patient waitress "Diamond" we got our Bill adjusted for a few things. Worst service ever! Was brought the seasonal taco veranos with no watermelon salsa. So instead I was served a taco shell with just bacon and egg and was given the oh well we don't have anymore till tomorrow attitude and just expected to accept it. Me and my children arrived at 839am and was seated and multiple waitress walked past us with no acknowledgement and no one spoke to us and did not care to say anything to us. After 30 minutes a waitress came to order stated she didn't know we were here and wasn't giving our info until then. I then ordered me food lobster and brie omelet my son omelet and my daughter chocolate chip waffles the food was cold and wasn't good wasn't satisfied but we were hungry and wanted to eat the lack of service and acknowledgement took over the food and we didn't have argument as we didn't want any arguments with staff. They do not answer the phone. As I was waiting 45min for a to go order which was only sides, I seen people walk in for their take out order and it not being ready yet. Not only one, mature guy in company shirt and turtle neck having fits over laptop info. Jumped up from corner booth, threw napkin on floor and tried pounding on keys some more. Doubt you'll ever need booth for customers but Dude, can't you find s broom closet or something for an office. One of the worst experiences dining out I have had. Seated at a dinky table, coffee was stale/bitter. But was the worst was that we waited one hour and twenty minutes for food. The first time I went here it was a good experience so I decided to go back, that was a mistake. Everyone in my group was not happy with the taste of their food. I ordered crab cakes eggs Benedict and one of my eggs was over poached. Not to mention the crab cake was more like mushy crab and the hollandaise was clearly thickened with flour, not a traditional hollandaise more like a gravy. Our waitress never came to check on us after the food arrived. I finally flagged her over after 10 minutes and asked for a properly poached egg. After another 10 minutes, and still no new egg, I spoke to the manager who told me it could take up to 30 minutes for a new egg. It takes 90 seconds to poach an egg. I never even got another egg, the manager only took 25% off the bill even though I only was able to eat 1/2 of my meal. The waitress and manager kept saying they were busy, and yes I understand they were, however they are specifically a breakfast place and should be able to handle the Sunday brunch crowd.
