It was still really sweet and tasty, though! My husband ordered the crab benedict. The belgian waffle was really delicious with just a bit of syrup and didn't need any butter. The eggs needed a bit of ketchup, but otherwise were good, it's kind of hard to ruin eggs, though. Our server was very sweet and helpful, and even offered her personal advice on their seasonal foods, which would be good choices to try! Our tradition after church is to grab breakfast, and by breakfast, I mean eating breakfast food during lunch time. Normally I let our group decide where we're going, but on this day, they threw the decision making to me. Because we tend to go during the busiest times, I checked to see if any breakfast places had the option to make reservations. Another Broken Egg popped up in the Yelp app and we were able to make a reservation. Score and score. I added six people to our reservation and requested two highchairs for the littles before we even left the church parking lot (let's just say this typically will save us a frustrated step of giving our name to the host/hostess and then play the waiting game inside or outside a restaurant. It will also save some of my sanity of me asking nugget to sit down because we have to wait. Try telling a toddler to wait. I dare you. We arrived to Another Broken Egg and this place was slammed. It has been a real scorcher here in Jax the past month, so the outside temps were hitting the mid-nineties. We let the host/hostess know we were here and they said they'd call/text when our table was ready. We all sat in the airconditioned car. Don't be fooled, I still had to explain why we had to wait, but at least we weren't sweating. The live wait times were on point. When our table was ready, there was a little confusion, and the original table they cleared off wouldn't allow highchairs. Since we had an infant, there was no way she could be in a booster seat. So we had to wait a bit longer to get another table. The table wasn't ideal, but it also meant we didn't have to wait longer, so that was a win. We were seated and handed menus. After looking over the menu, I really wanted the carrot cake pancakes, but when I asked our server about them, she said they were out. Sad face. My second option was their seasonal pumpkin waffle, which came with eggs and a meat (I opted for bacon). Nugget got a scrambled egg and toast. I also ordered a cold brew. The cold brew came out and was robust and cold. It was refreshing, because the interior of the restaurant got a bit warm. After about 15 minutes of waiting our waitress came out and brought us some beignets because it was our first time visiting the restaurant. These were their take on beignets (a bit heavier than an actual beignet), and it came with orange jelly/jam/marmalade. Our breakfast orders took a rather long time. When I say long time, I'd say at least another 20 minutes from the time we got the beignets. Which in toddler time is like a full fledged day. When our order came out, everything looked promising. I bit into my pumpkin waffle and while it was ok, it didn't really taste too much like pumpkin. It was just OK. Nugget wound up eating almost everyone at our table's bacon. So the bacon was approved by him and he had no complaints. I had a piece of bacon, it was good, but super salty. I know bacon is normally salty, but this one in particular was super salty. Pros: -Variety on the menu -Beignets were tasty -Cold Brew was good Cons: -Amount of time we waited for our food -Pumpkin waffle was just OK Will I come back? Yes, I'm willing to give it another try. We had brunch here on a Sunday afternoon and it was REALLY busy. If you go at this time do the online waitlist. You'll save yourself a lot of time. Apparently they still have a large carry out business and the sit down business was jammed. So it took a long time to get our food even once we were seated. The restaurant is a bit tucked away in the back of the tapestry shopping center so it was a little hard to find. First impression of the restaurant; small and the design seems outdated (but it makes sense since they claim to be a southern cafe). After being seated, I found a hair on the table . For first time customers they serve beignets. Our server brought over a plate of four beignets smothered in powdered sugar which her finger and pen touched. . Order: lobster Benedict with grits, shrimp and grits, biscuit and gravy. Everything was TOO SALTY! The lobster Benedict was soggy. The English muffin that it was served on seemed undercooked as it was still very doughy on the inside and wasn't crispy at all! Same goes for the texture of the biscuit. The shrimp and grits were by far the saltiest of the three entrees. It was also spicy which was a surprised as I don't recall spicy being in the menu. The only thing I enjoyed here was the grits. Other comments about interior design: they offer heated patio seating which makes seating outside comfortable during the colder months. Chandelier is crooked and a light bulb was out. The food is good, and can make adjustments. But the 2 star rating is for the service. My recent experience there, the waitress rushed us when placing our order and didn't remember the little specific things we needed, like extra coffee cup or creamer. When I placed another order for waffles, she assumed it was to go so they can get the new customers to the table. Being understanding of how busy this location gets, I eat, pay, and leave.
