Personally, I don't get the hype of this place. I went to brunch with friends on a Sunday at noon. The wait was over an hour. Typically, I wouldn't wait that long to eat at any restaurant, but I was chatting with friends, so the wait wasn't too bad. I did get a drink at the bar to sip on while we waited for the table. I had the Tomatillo Mary which was unique, but it needed more vodka. It wasn't so good that I ordered a second drink. I ordered the Biscuit Beignets for the table to share. They were totally fine and edible. They did seem a bit dry. The honey marmalade that they were served with was tasty and helped add some moisture. I wanted to have the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, because it got good reviews on Yelp. But, it is served with two eggs and meat, and I don't eat either of those things, so I passed. A friend did get the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and said that it was delicious. I just got a side of French toast and a side of grits. They were both fine but nothing to write home about. The service was so-so. The food did come out pretty quick, but the friend that got the Cinnamon Roll French toast had to wait on her eggs & sausage. A truly good and organized restaurant would send out the food all at once. We did have to wait a LONG time for our second round of drinks from the bar. The wait was so long that we thought about cancelling the order. It was just a glass of wine and two Mimosas, so they weren't labor intensive. I would go back to Another Broken Egg Cafe, but I won't go out of my way for a second visit. There are plenty of other places in Raleigh where I would rather have breakfast --- Mecca, Big Ed's, Remedy Diner, Humble Pie. read more

I went to this location yesterday with a co worker. This is my third time going. My first time was in July for my birthday and they had a lemon custard pancake that I thought was wonderful so I have gone back twice since. I don't know if the first time was a fluke or if there has been mishaps the other two times but I have had really bad luck trying anything else. We tried the carrot cake pancakes which I thought had a good flavor but extremely dry. We also tried the short ribs which again, had a good flavor but extremely dry. I ordered takeout from here the other day with my son and needless to say this place did not disappoint! I got the shrimp and grits and he got the supreme omelette. First off the omelette was "Huge" it came in it's own box (sides came on the side ). The veggies tasted fresh like they came out of a garden, cheese and sausage were sooo yummy ! But the shrimp and grits....... make you want to smack your mama (a good thing)! The cream sauce had the perfect amount of seasoning and heat and the grits were sooo smooth. Definitely will go back! Just had the best experience! My waitress made my day and was absolutely amazing. I feel awful that I can't remember her name now, but she was super pretty with dark hair and a thick headband. She, on top of being great at her job, went out of her way to compliment a tattoo of mine and just overall made my experience at the restaurant really really nice. I will obviously be coming back. Arrived after church around 1250 and we were told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour. We decided to wait since sometimes the wait can actually be shorter than expected. We were contacted via text about 40 minutes later that our table was ready. We received swift service and were met with smiles by the host to seated us and our waitress. It was our first time eating there so the waitress gave us complimentary beignets which were amazingly good! My husband and I both ordered omelettes with additional sides and a mimosa. All of the food gets an A+. I will definitely be back, because I love a good breakfast/brunch dining experience! This is the first chicken & waffles dish I've ever had that didn't have seasoning to the chicken, which made the dish taste bland, even with the chipotle honey drizzle. I was really expecting more from the hype I've heard about this place. The food was great, don't get me wrong, but they lack in other areas. Our server was fine, nothing to write home about, but while we sat in the lobby waiting to be seated all we heard was catty waitress talk! It was very unbecoming and rude. I get that everyone talks crap about everyone at work but to do it within such plain earshot of your customers is unacceptable. The wait time was about an hour, no problem, it's NH so we walked around in the rain and got some coffee. However the wait for the food was ridiculous. I don't understand why they don't keep a ready batter of pancake mix, that is stupid in my opinion. I shouldn't have to wait 20+ minutes for breakfast food--it wasn't even busy by the time we were sat. Went here while visiting a friend for a birthday brunch. Everything was delicious. I'd definitely go here again if I didn't live several hundred miles away. To say the service was poor was an understatement. After making reservations weeks in advance for their party room for a large birthday celebration, we were not seated for 30+ minutes after the reservation time as the entire room that we reserved was full of other customers. When asked why the room was occupied by others, the manager stated that we were late for our 12pm reservation which was a blatant lie (we were checked in at 11:43am). So moving forward, we were starting to enjoy the brunch and our waitress was wonderful. However, the kitchen manager delivered our drinks in the rudest manner I have ever encountered in any restaurant which included verbal disrespect along with slamming the drinks on the table. When discussing the encounter with the higher up manager, the kitchen manager came up and stated "I'm cooking yalls food so what were you saying about me?" After we walked outside of the restaurant a couple was asking about what happened and while we were explaining the situation the same employee comes outside to continue the confrontation and then proceeds to lock the door to the restaurant preventing customers that were eating outside from going to the restroom when they tried. The amount of disrespect and poor customer service we received today was unbelievable and this establishment should be ashamed of how their employees treat paying customers. 3.5 stars I haven't been to Another Broken Egg in awhile, because they are always really busy for weekend brunch. But recently I was lucky enough to have a chance to try them out during the week, so no wait for us! When you check-in on your Yelp app it said you can get a free gourmet muffin, but our server informed us that they didn't have any and brought us out biscuit beignets instead! I preferred that anyways since it is easier to share. While trying to figure out what I wanted to order, I was having a major case of indecision. But then I realized they had a pancake flight on the menu. Problem solved! I got to choose 3 different types of pancakes off their menu. I went with the Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese, Peach Cobbler and Banana's Foster pancakes. I LOVED the Lemon Blueberry Goat cheese, closely followed by the Banana's Foster. But the peach cobbler was just kinda meh to me. The flight also came with eggs and a meat, so I ordered the kielbasa. I would probably choose the same meat again, because it is a little different than the normal bacon or sausage as it has a little more spice to it. I definitely recommend getting the pancake flight though if you want a variety of flavors or if you are just indecisive like me. I tried my husband's French toast flight, and we both agreed that the pancakes were better. Service was ok, but nothing spectacular. While we didn't have to wait for a table, our server wasn't the quickest. After getting our food we realized we didn't have any syrup, so we requested it. But he forgot and it took him awhile to bring it by, and only after we reminded him. Overall, Another Broken Egg is a decent brunch choice. They have a really big menu, so everyone should be able to find something they like. This is the third time I have been to this Another Broken Egg location for Sunday Brunch. Unfortunately, I come because I love the food, but the service is always lacking. This is the least busy I've seen the place, and for some reason they still were unable to manage. The first time I went they had an appetizer menu with the beignets on it and they were amazing! They still had them on the menu so we asked if we could have them as an appetizer before our meals. Unfortunately, all of the food came out at the same time (took 45 minutes after we ordered which was in addition to the wait to be seated). We waited another 15 minutes after eating for our check and even longer for them to take the check. On a plus side, you can't beat their Eggs Benedict. They have different variations. I loved the crab cake Benedict but went with the Blackstone Benedict this time (Grilled red tomato slices on an English muffin, topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, baked bacon and green onions.). It was delicious and I always love their country potatoes. My boyfriend got the cinnamon roll French toast and loved it. So it was my birthday yesterday and I didn't really make a plan to do much of anything. I went on Yelp and because we were in the area I decided to check out this place with my boyfriend. Firstly, you should add yourself to the online waitlist if you are even just possibly thinking of going here because if you don't you might as well try again another time bc it's a true 1-1 1/2 hr wait BUT SO WORTH IT if you wait it out. As we waited in a corner I felt as though the two hostesses were friendly and tried to be as calm as possible as people walked in confused by such a long wait time. Once seated I ordered the Lobster and city grits with a single pancake. It was AMAZING! Literally the best thing I ate this weekend. I'm sad it's only seasonal because but I have to make sure I come back before it goes away .My bf ordered blueberry pancakes with eggs and sausage patties which we discussed these sausages a majority of the day. It's not bad, but we honestly only visit maybe once a year despite being big fans of breakfast and lunch and it being very close nearby. On a recent visit, found the entryway / waiting area filthy, the floor a mess, a trash sweeper and cleaning spray out in the open. It is said that the entrance to a place is representative of its whole, and although it was only 11am, it was way more dirty than it should have been at that time. The floor in the dining area was also quite dirty. Not what we want to see at an otherwise quaint place. Staff and service is attentive and thankfully less chatty than our last visit. Unless you arrive early expect to wait for a table. The food is generally good although pricier than the options in the general vicinity, and they have slimmed down their menu since our last visit, so one of us struggled to find a meal we wanted. A suggestion would be for more simple breakfasts with options. This place has all it needs to go from ok to really good. For now it's just ok and remains an annual or semi-annual visit. read more

Had some out of town friends looking for a breakfast together before they drove home, and found this place on Yelp so we thought we'd give it a shot. The wait time on a Sunday at 9:30am was about 20 mins, which was slightly less than typical of this time at breakfast and brunch places in the area, so we thought that was pretty good. Our guests were vegan and vegetarian, and our server AJ was simply terrific with them. She was paying attention to every dish to ensure the veg's were well taken care of and got exactly what they asked for. The vegetarian friend in particular is a foodie and very picky about food and service, and he was very happy with what he got - AJ more than earned his trust. The food was excellent. I had 2 eggs over easy. Most places this means an oily thing on your plate. Here it wasn't oily at all. It was superb. I also had some grits because I was pleased to find they were not cheese grits, and they were tasty and smooth. And I normally don't like grits. The vegan had oats with fruit, which was berries, and she commented how nice that was. Other had traditional breakfasts with or without meat and all commented how good it was. The place ended up being exceptionally busy - I imagine the wait was longer by the time we left - so I would suggest getting there early. So, so is what I'll say. I was very happy with the free cinnamon roll thanks to the Yelp check in offer! Free is ALWAYS for me. It came out warm and oozing with icing and perfect for two people. That made me happy. While the menu items we ordered sounded amazing, they were pretty underwhelming to eat. Very mediocre, definitely like chain restaurant type food. Service was very friendly but slow. Our waitress disappeared for a while at one point and that was annoying. Cute coffee mugs, and casual atmosphere. 3 stars. read more

We went for the training weekend because it was to benefit the SPCA. I honestly did not have very high expectations because new restaurants typically need time to get good. I was wrong! The food was great and the service was fantastic (the hostess was a little below fantastic but the rest were up there). We started with the biscuit beignets. They were really really good by themselves and even better with the honey marmalade; It is definitely a lot so share them. For breakfast he ordered the eggs blackstone (basically benedict with roasted tomatoes) and I ordered the benedict oscar. Both were fantastic dishes that would be ordered again with no hesitation (expect for wanting to try the rest of the menu). The waiter also brought us a side of bacon to try because they bake a special thick cut of bacon - WOW....delicious too! Oh the coffee...don't forget the coffee. The serve a singe roasted brew in a handmade cup. The brew is strong with no bitterness at all, a really good cup of coffee. This was a great change from Briggs, etc and a welcomed addition in my opinion. For those reviews looking for a Denny's breakfast this is the wrong place. While those types of places certainly have a spot this just isn't one of them, and that's not a bad thing. read more

Today after much anticipation of trying out this restaurant for the first time, this review is solely on the customer service. It was that terrible we did not even stay to try the food. As we walked in, an older woman was already waiting for a table to be sat. The host comes up without a welcome and asks, "who came first?". The woman answered and the hostess proceeded to ask how many. The woman waiting was looking around out the window and said to the hostess with her back facing her, "I don't think she has arrived yet." The hostess snapped with an attitude while pulling out the menus and said with a snide remark : "well do you want to sit or not?" She had a disgruntled look and even made the awful hand gestures at her. I'm sorry this woman had not done anything except wait patiently to be serviced, and when she did she was given an attitude? This is a poor representation of the restaurant and the waitstaff at this location. It shows pure ignorance, unprofessionalism, and even prejudice. The hostess apparently had realized we saw her reaction and proceeded with a more warming welcome when it came to us. She had said something to hostess about something being ugly, then the server walked away. We then told her we had a party of two and she took us to our table and said ,"have a good one." We were looking at the menu, and we were excited for trying the coffee, biscuit beignets, and something off the benedict menu. I noticed when I looked around, it was not even quite that busy and the man sitting behind us looked irritated. He looked like he had been sitting there for quite some time just waiting for a check to be picked up. Each server had walked past us about five to six times already since we had been sat. I gave them the benefit of the doubt it was probably because we were still looking at the menu. About 15 minutes had past and we were not even acknowledged. Now, if the servers were "struggling,"or couldn't handle their tables they should have gotten someone else or the manager to start us off. We finally decided to call it quits because it was if we were invisible. As we were getting up and putting on our coats, one of the servers looked at us and didn't even ask why were getting up or anything (this was the same server that had come up to the hostess stand before we were sat). Then we were chased out by the manager who asked did a server not come to our table and offered to pay for our meals, at the point I did not even want to walk back in. Free or not, we came there to enjoy our meal and service which we didn't receive. If it took that long to be acknowledged our service would have been horrible. I am never going to this location again. I would rather drive to Durham to try out the menu. It is a shame for a restaurant to have such a great potential to have such a mediocre waitstaff. read more

Terrible first experience at North Hills. Host gave us an unprofessional greeting as we waited at the host stand. Soon after, we were seated. After waiting approximately 10 minutes for a server or at least an "I'll be right with you," we decided to leave. Right after exiting, the manager chases after us and asks if our server ever came to our table. Obviously that was a no. She then offered to buy our meals but we declined. We had friends visiting from Greenville and they only had one requirement for breakfast - FRENCH TOAST. After searching Yelp, we settled on ABEC. We called ahead and put our party of 4 on the list. While we waiting, we ran over to Crepe Traditional (formerly Saxby's) for coffee. We were give a 25 minute wait time but it was shorter than that and our pager went off as we walked back up. Seating was comfy, near the bar (which is first come first served) and we enjoyed the atmosphere. It is a little loud on Sunday's. The waitress brought over some free beignets (amazing) and our food was served up fast. I enjoyed my skillet special and our out of towners noshed on French toast so good he's requested it again in subsequent Raleigh trips. Went there for Saturday breakfast with my bride. We had the powdered biscuits and marmalade. Oh God they are so good. My wife ordered the seafood and crawfish omelette and I had the bacon and sausage omelette. The shrimp in the omelette were huge! I am not kidding. My meal was delicious as well. I wish I could leave "0" stars. This places is horrible! From the long wait for the food, to the waitress scratching her head, and the dog (not service) coming in the restaurant made this a terrible experience. Although the dog and owners were set up on the patio, the waitress was handling and exchanging items with them (dog hands). Then walking back inside and continue serving people and scratching her head. The head scratching waitress also had to be reminded twice that we ordered water along with our other beverages. Not sure what they used to make the sausage patties but they were very salty and had a strange flavor. If you are looking for an enjoyable breakfast or brunch, do yourself a favor and find another place. read more
