The menu felt a bit like a Denny's in that it has things that you're like "I certainly don't need that deep fried thing topped with sugar on a plate of butter and bread" but let me tell you - you actually do need all of it. The apple fritter french toast was unreal - seasonal but def get it if you can! It was not as sweet as it sounds. Obviously had to try the shrimp and grits and wow - so much flavor in one dish. This one could be a meal any time of day. The hash brown Benedict were all over their yelp page so naturally we tried it and it was everything we hoped for and more. SO filling but so good. The base was a hash brown which was so so tasty! The normal bend it was good but it tasted like the egg was premade, not like it was fresh. We came here for brunch around 11am on a weekday because my partner was craving home fries. Thankfully we found parking very easily and were seated immediately (we joined the Yelp waitlist). There's indoor and outdoor dining available, and the outdoor dining is covered so you'll be in the shade (great for a hot day, kind of chilly for a cooler day). We felt pretty safe (in terms of social distancing) but there are quite a lot of tables outdoors (and staff is not wearing masks as a heads up). I was looking forward to the beignets after reading the other reviews, but to be honest they really weren't that good! See pic for reference, but there was an overload of powdered sugar and our beignets came out lukewarm and were very crunch on the exterior. I did really like the ceramic mugs our hot beverages came in, and I liked how many options there were on the menu. The lobster Brie omelette was very unique and tasty. I recently visited Siesta Key after many years. I was so excited to go back for breakfast at the Broken Egg; it was one of my favorite breakfast places. The menu used to be extensive, food good, portions big, and service friendly. I can't say that any more. We waited an inordinately long time for our food order to be completed. Portions were small,coffee was lukewarm, and I am still waiting for my coffee to be refilled. The waitress was busy as the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Understaffed and poor operations. Unfortunately, my experience was way below expectations. Initially I was told a wait time of 45 minutes. I returned back in 45 minutes to be told there was 3 parties in front of my reservation. After another 30 minute wait I was told my reservation was near the bottom of the list. The initial wait time ended up being near 90 minutes! Once we were seated, we were welcomed by our waiter, Curtis, who was great. He was patient and doing the best he could with what he was working with. He deserves praise for the amount he was handling. However, after ordering, we had to wait another 30 minutes before our food arrived. When the food then arrived the portion and presentation was sub par. Disappointing after a 2+ hour wait for breakfast. Management was gracious enough to comp our food for the experience which we appreciated. The staff is in desperate need of help and communication between kitchen, wait staff, and host team needs to improve or they'll be more negative experiences coming. Until then, the staff will attempt to handle more than they should. read more

Lukewarm review based on lukewarm eggs and soggy bacon. Granted, I may have ordered poorly--I ordered the traditional breakfast with eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, English muffin. Bacon "baked" and not fried, so not crispy and with lots of thick fat veins present. Home fries were dry cubes, no spice except salt. Eggs not hot. Wife orders the crab cake Benedict without eggs, which didn't work out well for her as she had only one bite. I didn't try it. The bright spot was the complementary serving of warm crispy beignets served with a honey marmalade. You get that for free when it's your first time eating there. Came here 3 times in one weekend and was impressed every time! Over the weekend i had every much everything lol, from Chicken n Waffles to Eggs Benedict to pancakes, beignets, fruit and mimosas. And i will say, this place is worth the 30-45 min wait for a table. Staff is friendly/normal experience but the food and drinks are tasty. First time to this location and there was a line of people waiting. I checked in with the hostess and it was just me today so I got a great table on the patio. My waitress Isabella was very prompt and took my drink order as soon a I was seated. I tried the caramel cold brew. It had caramel drizzled on the rim of the glass and tasted pretty good. I wasn't sure what I wanted for breakfast since it was almost 11am but I ended up choosing the lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes. It also came with a side of eggs and sausage. I haven't had sausage like this before. It was a bit olpeppery and was seasoned differently than most store brands. I liked it a lot. I was very pleased to know the pancakes were not stuffed and the toppings were just on the top. Little balls of goat cheese sprinkled along with zested lemon added to the flavor. I ordered a cold brew that tasted like water with vanilla which they did not remove from the bill even though i told the waitress is watered down. I ordered the traditional breakfast eggs over medium i received over easy with still much of the white very loose... gross. My parents ordered the pancakes which were good but the scrambled eggs dry and pastey. How can you screw up a basic breakfast. For full disclosure, taking away a star might not be fair given market conditions. I explain below. Two things stood out during this visit: the delicious food and excellent staff. Service is top notch, from the young maitre' d who was welcoming and referred to the bar menu as "happy drinks", to our server Dustin who took the time to thoroughly explain grits to me and was perfectly attentive without being intrusive. Entrée descriptions include calories which is bittersweet. I almost always order something other than what I REALLY wanted, but glad after the fact that I didn't inadvertently eat an entire day's worth of calories at one sitting. To be dietarily correct, I ordered the veggie omelette with grits. The omelette is filled with goat cheese (first time and YUM!), spinach and tomatoes. The grits came plain (their City Grits have bacon and other stuff.) and seasoned with the pepper sauce at each table. I liked them. Thanks for recommending, Dustin! An English muffin was also included. The husband ordered the salmon Benedict with potatoes, which he said was also very good. I thought the presentation was quite impressive. (See the photo below. Not a great shot because the husband has banned me from Yelping at the table; so I had to sneak a shot when he wasn't looking.) Based on all of this, the establishment gets 5 stars. If I could give four and three quarters, I would. Breakfast here is not cheap--it isn't anywhere around in Siesta Key, but $14 for basic eggs (2 with meat) just made me cringe. My veggie omelette was $15 and the husband's salmon bagel was nearly $20. Worth it for a special breakfast / brunch out, though. read more

This is a pretty popular chain restaurant - famously known for breakfast and always sporting a long wait outside the door. We hadn't ever actually had a chance to visit a location before and decided let's go for it. Luckily, you can join the Yelp waitlist before arriving - which saved us quite some time from standing in the hot Florida sun. We started off in 15th place and by the time we arrived we were 5th - make sure you do this otherwise you're waiting a good hour before eating. Once seated, our served greeted us and took drink orders. We opted for a pitcher of mimosa - which is well worth the price and delicious. We each got a different plate to eat, and truthfully, no one was really blown away by anything. We tried the crab cake Benedict (which was kind of cold and the flavors didn't blend as well as I thought it would), chicken and waffles (just some chicken tenders on top of waffles - I mean it was ok I guess), chilaquiles (which was my preferred bite), and some pancakes and beignets to share (mediocre at best). I'm not really sure what the hype is behind this place, but I guess I don't regret trying it although I definitely wouldn't willingly visit again. The food was meh, the servers were great. BUT early morning arrival after a trip to the airport sending daughter to college and a morning walk on the beach. Plenty of FREE and SAFE spots!!! Yippee!!!! Seated in a nice deck spot with a little view. VERY nice. Coffee was prompt and POWERFUL!! I was perspiring and a little jittery soon thereafter (I am a bit sensitive and should know better but I do it anyway) Service by James was awesome and never wanting and efficient! 10/10 I got the traditional Eggs Benedict w/ham and breakfast potatoes. These looked VERY nice. The eggs (there were three on this plate??) were almost perfect but slightly white snotty and undercooked (getting close to Sal Manila worrisome) ..a little bit disappointing and EASILY fixed of course. (gotta cook the snot out of those eggs to be perfect!) 7/10 The ham was one of the best egg benedict ham we have had. Lightly toasted/crisp and not soggy or mushy. 10/10 The Hollandaise Sauce? Where so many fail, this was one of the top sauces in the 16 restaurants! Very nice, smooth, spiced and flavored without overpowering. 10/10 so for the whole traditional ham eggs Benedict its a solid 9/10 The breakfast potatoes might have been a bagged reheated affair - perfect brown cubes of potato with rounded sides and edges. Arrived maybe 'room' (outdoor 80 degrees) temperature, soft and spongy and quite frankly I ate three or four cubes.....not worth the calories. I would prefer a cooked to order homemade product and of course served HOT. In hindsight I should have gone for the grits OR the "City Grits" with gouda cheese and etc. The potatoes 3/10 My wife went with the Shrimp Benedict on focaccia bread w/fruit cup. Her poached eggs were properly cooked which was fantastic!! 10/10 The bread on this was very good and sitting on top of it was a nice scallion, tomato, vegetable medley that was hot and cooked perfectly and all awesome fresh ingredients. 10/10 The shrimp however were sort of a canned or thawed frozen grey/bleached units and kinda off flavor not fishy but a contrasting taste? 5/10 So sadly had to notch down the overall since the namesake ingredient was not too good? 8/10 overall. The fruit cup while one might think a ho-hum addition (and most are one or two pieces like a melon and pineapple OR a chunk of honeydew and one of cantaloupe) but NOT HERE!!! This was a full featured fruit side, with watermelon, blackberries, mango, & strawberries. i.e. there was actually 'fruits" in the fruit cup!! 10/10 for the variety and the quality of this side!! This place is delicious!!! Have been here more than once and have not been disappointed. Ordered the gingerbread rum holiday drink as well as the lemon goat cheese pancakes (sub strawberries for blueberries). Our server Ana (who was also the bartender) was excellent - she was super sweet, made sure we were happy and had such a positive energy.
