Great technician but the company is a rip off. They don't return calls. They bill you and home warranty company as well for the same repair. They tried to charge me for stuff they didn't do. Worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. Total scammers. They billed me and my home warranty company for the same repair and also tried to charge for refrigerant that they never added to my unit. They are the worst company ever. I was quoted a price for a repair that might not be covered by my warranty company and when the warranty company covered it they tried to charge me even more than the original quote for it being non covered. I don't see how this company is even in business they are the shadiest people ever. Be careful, they will try to steal your money too. Beware! My AC went bad mid July, I called my insurance company and they Amthem to diagnose the problem. When they came there was an electrical outage. They came back a week later and their tech saw that the problem was that the compressor who went bad. All is well until they submitted their report to my home insurance. They used the power outage as an excuse to the compressor going bad when it actually had nothing to do with the outage! The AC wasn't working anymore before we even called them! Since it was Anthem who 5 years ago installed my AC unit and maybe it's still under warranty therefore they are trying to use the outage which is post issue to not e responsible or to charge more money than the insurance will allow them!! This is unacceptable! And you can't speak with anyone other than the employees. If the owner doesn't call me and or correct this fake of a report I will use every legal means to make sure that they don't get away with this. read more

Anthem came out as contracted from home warranty for repair. We were booked out 3 weeks for technician to come and check our A/C as it wasn't cooling our house properly. When tech arrived he struggled to get the outside unit open attached his meter/gauge and informed me coolant level was good, but the coils were very very dirty as confirmed from pics he took. Advised that it would be $570 to take apart the outdoor unit to clean the coils. He looked up in the intake ductwork and said ductwork needed to be cleaned estimate for thorough ductwork cleaning $1215. He only popped his head into the attic and stated we had a good system, but didn't go into the attic to check anything, but quoted us another $315 to clean the evaporator coils. He didn't even check on the air filter in the unit in the attic. And after my concern about these maintenance costs the tech, after hearing I had allergies was happy to tell me about their air purifying system at about $2K and they offer financing. Lots of upselling and nothing done to our A/C system. He also eluded to some parts in the outside unit he would recommend replacing to avoid system breaking down since it was older and they could do it directly and mentioned excessive lead times from weeks to months for home warranty to replace parts. We ended up going into attic ourselves and replaced very dirty air filter after talking to another A/C repair company and them explaining over the phone some possible problems with it not cooling efficiently and electric bill skyrocketing and we have scheduled a tuneup/maintenance with this other company. read more

I used Anthem Mechanical with a maintenance contact for a few years. They came out to do an air condition check and told me that I need a new coil because most of the freon has leaked out. They sent me a quote last July for $3,000 for the same thing. The quote I received a few weeks ago in April ,23 was $4500. I received 4 other quotes and their quote was outrageous. I was able to get it done by a company in Palm desert for $2,000 less. The other thing is they need called me back to see if I wanted the job done by them. I would never use them again. Hi Michael, I recently filed a claim back in November with my Home Warranty for my AC Unit and Heating unit not turning on. When your tech came out to see the issues he submitted a report to my warranty for the condensate pump for the heating. I never saw a report for the A/C and when the tech was out here he advised my husband the visit was for heating only so I contacted my warranty and i told them the the AC part of the claim was not addressed, my warranty then contacted your office and was told that the tech didnt check the ac unit because they stated the problem was the condensate pump. I was advised by my warranty that I had to change the part your company advised me to change in order for me to move forward with the claim. I went ahead and contracted your company for the repair as well as maintenance. I had your tech George come out and fix the condensate pump and do the winter/fall service and he assured me the job had been complete and done correctly I also asked if my heater and ac would both work since he only checked the heating he stated the cooling would need to be checked until the summer service which is done around April/May and they would contact me to make the service appointment. Later that night we tried to turn on the heater and it did not work. I called your company back and you guys sent out Edgar who is a senior tech, he stated George did his job incorrectly and that could've caused my entire system to not work. Edgar was able to fix the problem and again when i asked about the AC working he also advised me they would review it during summer service. It is now end of April and i have not received any calls for scheduling. I called in to follow up and i was told that i was the one that had to call in i told the girl that was not what i was informed she continued to stated i mustve not understood she also stated that she only saw my claim for heating which was also not the case, she then told me they could not come out unless my unit was working and that i had to turn it on to check even tho i told her the tech told me they would be checking it at time of service, she was being very rude and told me i would have to make a new service if it wasnt working which i was extremely confused about because that is why i paid for the pump for. I told her i would check the unit and call back, after turning on my ac unit i noticed now the unit was heating my home which went from 77-79. I called back and told another girl by the name of Lilybelle the issue she then told me in a rude tone that i had to request new service with them or my warranty again i told her why did i have to pay again if i paid for the service she continued being rude so i asked to speak with a manager, she then transferred me to Andrew who stated was the service manager, i explained to him what was going on and he told me the information the first girl i spoke with was incorrect that Anthem should have been the one to reach out to schedule summer service and he apologized for the incorrect information, i then told him that the tech never checked my ac unit he explained to me that during Winter they do not check the ac units because of cold temperature, and he stated i would have to pay for them to come out and check out the issue due to it being such a long time which i also did not understand because your company should have checked it when it was fixed and techs advised it couldn't be done until Summer service. I am very fustrated because i dont believe it is fair that i have to pay for a service and repair i already paid for, if anthem wouldve done their job and scheduled the summer service to come check the AC would i have to have paid? No, because that was part of the job Anthem had to do. Also if the condensate pump was said to be the issue why with it being replaced is it not only not working which was the initial problem but why is the ac unit now heating my house? Why do i have to pay for work that needed to be done in the first place during the Summer service as both techs advised they would do. This has been terrible customer service i only went with your company because of my home warranty, and i paid for the services that i am calling about now so i am very confused as to why your company will not come out and review what happened with what your techs advised me to repair at no cost. read more

Had had been dealing with my home warranty for years to get my cooling and heating system fixed only to have multiple techs tell me that the home warranty would only put a band-aid on the system and never replace it. So decided to just drop our warranty and buy a new system ourselves. After calling countless companies we found out that due to COVID all the prices had doubled and that we should had replaced our system a year an a half ago to have gotten a better price. We had Anthem give us a quote and by far they were the cheapest. They came out 2 days after their quote and completed all the work that same day. They left my home clean and kept picking up after themselves as they went along. I really liked their no BS and not trying to up sell me from their original quote. We have an older unit that I knew was in its last days. We had a problem with it not blowing cold air. Had a friend who used to be in the business and retired come and look at it and told us how to temporary fix the issue. I called my home warranty company and they sent out Anthem. My first issue is they were supposed to contact me within 24 hours. That did not happen until about 40 hours later. However, when I called the company number listed it goes to voice mail and they never returned my call. Turns out the only way is to text them, but it is not mentioned on the email I got. Then when they finally called they gave me a date of about 5 days later. I told the girl, my wife and I are both in our mid 80's and the predicted temp for the area were to exceed 115 degrees. She tells me their first responsibility is to take care of their members, whatever the heck that means. So a day later I get a call they can come out later in the day. Whoopee! The fella comes out and I told him that there is a small leak in the freon. He checks the machine and then tells me they would have to take it into the shop to properly inspect it. BS! Its a simple repair any AC tech guy can do. Then he tells me the compressor looks like it is not working properly. More BS. If a compressor is going bad there is a definite clunking sound or a vibration. Ours is very quiet. A one star is more than they should be given. Bottom line is I am taking bids for a new unit, a brand called Goodman that is very highly rated and one I had in another home we used to own, but Anthem, a company to avoid at all costs. read more

I would like to confirm Trisha B.'s report that Anthem has some sort of deal with American Home Shield Warranty Co. The technician came out and told me several things were wrong and that he was going to try to get authorization from the Warranty Co. to fix them. (Of course after trying to get me to sign a year service contract with them and replace the entire unit.) I asked him to email me the list of things he said were wrong and he said he would. He never did. When he left the SAME THING HAPPENED that happened to the previous yelp reviewer ... he disconnected something that resulted in NO POWER in the kitchen. I wasn't even in the kitchen while he was working. I called the tech back and he denied doing anything to the power. The next day I texted the technician to ask for the emails and I got no response. So I called American Home Shield to find out the status and they said they were denying everything (of course) b/c Anthem said that rodents chewed through the wires. He didn't even go under the house. If you get assigned to this company from American Home Warranty, ask them to assign you someone else or cancel the work order. I had used Anthem Air for 7 years, but they have become a nightmare, high pressure and dishonest. The last two techs Anthem sent out were either incompetent or dishonest, or both. The first one sold me a $900 leak detector and sealer and then overfilled my system. The second tech found a leak that does not exist and wanted to sell me a new coil for $5,000, but was pressuring me to buy a whole new system for $13,000. And the way that the price kept magically getting lower while he was texting his boss reminded me of buying a car. He must have known he was ripping me off because he never even followed up on his quote. He never even followed up! This experience very much reminded me of dealing with The General seven years ago, and I asked them to leave also. Thankfully, I shopped around following a referral from my high school buddy. Kermit Larby quoted a 3 ton system from a major manufacturer for half the price. They brought it out the next day to install it. But when they checked out my current system it was just the expansion valve that was stuck. I had plenty of freon and there is no leak. They replaced the expansion valve for $450, recharged my system and earned my business for life. read more

The front desk girl has a horrible attitude problem. Unkind, inflexible, spoke over us and left us without heat for an additional 2 days in the coldest days of the year because of her power play. Unfortunately we are stuck with this person representing this company due to American home shield. She asked if our heater had been tampered with- and I've been complaining to the gas company for the past 3.5 years since we moved into the home. Insurance manipulation at its finest wording it tampered and not defective and having to deal with this nasty snot so it wouldn't be covered. Good luck with your karma Lady- and whomever owns this company, I can guarantee I'm not the only complaint and won't be the last. I usually don't write reviews but Anthem really helped me out. I was having issues with my air conditioner, and my home warranty company connected me with Anthem. Since I had other A/C companies service my unit in the past, I figured I might just need a new unit. Anthem came out and serviced my unit and was able to repair the issue. I called Anthem as I wanted a copy of the mechanics findings (I was not home at the time.) I ended up speaking with the office manager: Liliana. I asked her if she thought I should replace my unit. If anyone has a home warranty, they know how long it can take for them to approve or deny a job. And even how much longer it can take to get equipment from them. I figured I'd be proactive before the next summer hits, as I do not want to be stuck during summer waiting for my home warranty company. I've dealt with that nightmare before and did not want to repeat that experience. I would have easily purchased a new system from Anthem if they would have recommended it. I was pleasantly surprised of how honest the office manager was, she told me based on the age of my system, she would not recommend replacing it. She explained minor issues may arise with HVAC units - even in rare instances with newer units. She told me in my case my capacitor needed to be replaced, which is minor. She said if my unit was over 10 years old or if it was in poor condition, she would recommend it. Based on the type of freon my unit uses (410A?) and the condition of my unit, it would not be needed at this time. She told me if I wanted to be proactive to simply maintain the system. She spoke to me about purchasing a maintenance contract with them. It was a complete no pressure approach. I appreciated the example she gave me on the importance of maintaining your vehicle, just as it is your AC unit - especially if you live in the Desert! It was nice hearing a friendly voice, a honest voice, and dealing with a company who is not trying to sell you a new system - especially when it is not needed. If Liliana is reading this.... I will be calling next week and purchasing a maintenance contract. When the time comes to purchase a new unit, I will be asking for you - 20% discount for a maintenance contract holder right? I have one recommendation for Anthem, reconsider working with home warranty companies - many of these home warranty customer reviews are brutal! I don't know how your company does it. Had work done on our heating and AC units, top notch service! Freddie the technician was extremely professional , he explained our issue in a way we understood and fixed it quickly. We are back with this company again after dealing with them last year, different problem. Again, been a month since this started. FAHW did much better this year. A tech came out to the house and said there was no power at the unit. Found out that condenser was bad and shorting out, kicking the fuse off. Hired Electrician to find out that issue. Newest issue, Anthem received an email that the part was available on for pick up on Thursday September 7th. Anthem asked for a change of location to pick up the part. FAHW approved that on Friday September 8th. Guess what part is still not picked up as of today, Wednesday September 13th. Coachella and Palm Desert must be far apart that it is taking 5 days to pick up the part. Read my review from last year. After 4 months and me tracking down the part that was in there warehouse it is was finally fixed.. Only 4 week so far this year,but still no air. read more

We reached out to our home warranty company due to our A/C blowing hot air. They sent out Anthem Mechanical. The technician arrived and diagnosed the system and informed me that the fan motor needed to be replaced and will be ordered, then scheduled for repair once received. The technician marked the box on the paperwork for "should do" repair condensation line. The condensation line was previously cut resulting in the water dripping on the roof which does not affect the operation of the A/C condenser. My Wife was contacted by Anthem and told that they were going to order the fan motor although the condensation line needed to be replaced with copper which was not covered through home warranty at a price of $350. She said no to the condensation line replacement as it is not necessary. The Anthem employee on the phone even said "well yea, it doesn't affect the units performance". We were then informed that no work will be performed unless they replace the condensation line. My wife has contacted Anthem and left voicemails with no call back in the last 6 days. Our home warranty representative even contacted Anthem 3 times with us on the phone with no answer. I highly recommend searching for an honest company, this company needs significant improvement in their business ethics. read more

Terrible company. Constantly get a voicemail system when you call. They don't call back for days. They put the wrong refrigerant type in my AC system making a bad situation worse. In addition they told me I needed a Freon leak detection that would take five days for results. I called and left a message 3 days ago and I have still yet to receive a call back. I ended up calling another AC company who was here within the hour and fixed my unit. I tried to call American Home Shield to send another vendor, but waited on the phone for 2 hours, without getting an answer, so I gave up on both this company and will cancel my American Home Shield warranty. Avoid working with this Company(Anthem Mechanical) AT ALL COST regardless if it was a selected by Home Warranty as their vendor(ask for another vendor if they assigned Anthem Mechanical to you). They came to my house(in Indio) to diagnose my AC issue and found that a part had to be replaced. A month pass, no update. I started calling them literally daily(very unpleasant & unprofessional experience every single time...I have the names to whom I spoke with each time) and claimed the part has to be ordered through OEM because it was required and must be OEM parts per Home Warranty. After a week or so calling and chasing home warranty, they finally made the call directly to Anthem Mechanical. Anthem told our home warranty that it has to be OEM part because the part does NOT fit to our existing unit, a COMPLETE LIE. Anthem Mechanical came to my house ONCE to diagnose the issue and your technician NEVER tried to fit or retrofit any part to try and fix the issue(I have his name too). So how can you, Anthem Mechanical, tell the Home Warranty that you tried to use non-OEM part and it would not work because it does not fit??? Anthem Mechanical, you are blatantly lying to me(the customer) and you are lying to Home Warranty(FNHW). You left me and my family with small kids and elderly with NO freakin AC for over a month plus. Now, I am working with Home Warranty to find another vendor(another $75 to my home warranty because it is a new work order). Looking forward to working with another vendor that is TRUSTFUL, REPUTABLE, & DEPENDABLE. Do not work with this company regardless via through home warranty or pay out of your own pocket. You will suffer of headache and very unreliable service and your AC will never work in a timely manner. There was NO reason for your company leaving my family no AC for over month(hottest time of the year). Anthem Mechanical was assigned a repair of my A/C through my home warranty service. While the serviceman was here I asked if he could replace my complex thermostat for a simple one. He told me it would be $195. I thought it was high but did not know how much a thermostat cost so I said ok. When he left I looked up the cost of the thermostat online and it was $42. That means they charged me $153 for installing it. It took him 15 minutes. That works out to $612 per hour. I hate being taken advantage of. I sent them an email explaining my feelings and didn't get a response . Though the service on my HVAC seems to be ok and the two servicemen were professional and pleasant, I'd never recommend them because of the price gouging. read more

Worst customer service and very poor communication between the technician and home owner. They give an ambiguous timeframe for when the tech is coming (8AM to 12AM). The tech showed up at my house 10:38 AM and he called me and I notified him that I will meet him in exactly 10 mins. When I show up at 10:48 AM, he isn't there and he left without letting me know. I called the company and said that he is allowed to leave after 10 mins and I will be charged $50 fee for this trip. This is just not fair and not a helpful customer service. Since writing my previous review we have had nothing but problems with the air conditioner anthem mechanical "fixed." The AC unit was finally fixed months later. We left town and when we came back the same AC unit was working. We called anthem to ask what the heck the deal was since they supposedly just fixed it. A technical came Out and supposedly fixed it again. By that night the AC was making a horribly loud noise and once again mot blowing cool air. All the copper piping is completely soaking wet because of the excess condensation..., which it had never done before. We have another identical AC unit untouched by anthem mechanical that does not do this. The unit has proceeded to make a horribly loud noise at various points ever since they came and just stops working. I have to turn it off and then wait turn it back on and hope it works since it's 100+ outside. I will not accept the sub par work that has been done, I will not accept my unit not working after all this. It is unprofessional, disrespect and and just crappy the way we have been treated in this process . I have paid and waited and paid and waited and intend to have a AC unit that works. Used anthem for my home warranty because my condenser fan motors winding went bad. (I am an HVAC tech and already knew what the problem was) they sent a technician out to check out the problem. After some time he told me my system was low on refrigerant and my furnaces control board was bad. Both weird as I has checked the pressures that morning and the board was operating fine. After he left I heard a slight hissing coming from the shrader cores of the system. I believe the technician loosened the shraders so the system had a slight leak to fit his story... so sad to see. read more
