It's always ready within the time stated when I order and it tastes delicious. I am a huge fane of the baked ziti. There are some items on the menu that I've had there that are okay but for the most part, the food is average. The pizza is decent. Tonight my hubby got the cranberry walnut salad and meatball sub. Now he's never been one to NOT finish his meatball sub . . but he didn't finish it. :( I got the crab and lobster ravioli in vodka sauce. I think the lobster was omitted from my meal :) But everything was cooked well just kind of mediocre tasting. In their defense, I was VERY congested so maybe tonight is not the best time to try to evaluate taste :) Again, I have eaten there before and it's pretty tasty. I wouldn't say it's my first choice to go to when eating out but when you are in a crunch and don't have time to leave Pville, it's one of the 3 - 4 places you can go to. We will be back but I think it's more b/c of lack of options in town instead of the food being so wonderful. read more

A wildly dated restaurant a block from the heart of Purcellville, Anthony's proves that the world of American-Italian isn't as easy as you'd think. Pricing is on par with a tourist-trap Italian restaurant in downtown DC and leads you to think you'll be getting something of real quality. Think again. $10 for mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. We received 5 sticks. They are easy to describe... picture those cheap frozen cheese sticks in the grocery store (the ones that are so cheap you question if the cheese is even cheese), now add the flavor of old fry oil, and then make sure they are still frozen in the middle, and voila! you have what we received. The pasta we received was decent at best, by no means living up to a near $20 price tag. Again, I'm fairly certain the seafood on top came out of the same freezer our apps did. The pizza was good, though far from great. Thin crispy crust, good size, but the cold toppings on it were a bit strange. It was as if the line cook forgot to add them before cooking the pizza and to correct the problem just opened the fridge and threw them on top of a now cooked cheese pizza. Two stars you ask? Is that pizza worthy of a whole star to compensate for everything else? Possibly, but probably not. The waitstaff was the highlight of our experience. I'm willing to bet they split tips, because although we never really spoke to the same server twice, they were all very attentive, friendly, and on top of drink refills. read more

My boyfriend used to live in Purciville and this was our go to place for dinner. I love their Veggie Calzone. Now that we live out in Manassas it's a struggle to get out there. When they opened some years ago, they were OK. An upscale sandwich shop. Two and a half stars I suppose. So we just never went back, not with Magnolias and WK Hearth and West End Wine Bar in town. We were a bit mystified that they were always jammed. But then we were talking with friends from DC who come out to Loudoun to go to wineries and they said they went there and had a "great" meal. So OK, we decided to give it a shot. Well the reason they are jammed is that the food is terrific! My wife who always seems to order salmon says it is the best in town and probably half the cost. I took my two boys here after baseball and sat out side. They weren't very dog friendly which was a pain to start but eventually we sorted something out and sat outside. The service was OK not great, but the salad was disappointing. The sauce on my spinach ravioli was surprisingly good - spicy and sweet and the boys enjoyed their mac an cheese. Nothing to write home about but for $40 for the three of us pretty good value - although they hit us up for $2 to get bread which I would rather they price each meal a buck higher and just include it. read more

How can you go wrong at Anthony's? We are regulars, as are many locals (you may notice how crowded it gets on some evenings). The owner is friendly and gracious (although not usually present when we are there). It's a family-run and family type of restaurant. You will see a wide variety of people, business types for lunch, retirees, families with kids. There is semi-outdoor dining...it used to be outdoor but it's now "enclosed"...as well as indoor dining, and, of course carryout. I'd call it expanded Italian/Mediterranean. I can get grape leaves and I sometimes order the Mediterranean Sampler for lunch (or the Napoleon ). The fried zucchini is pretty standard, but I like it. Lunch is a good value, especially the specials, also. Hubby will order a Caesar Salad, usually, and then a burger or pasta. He likes the ravioli, but has been known to order other items, such as the alfredo or spaghetti. I like the spinach ravioli (or...pick one, if it has spinach, I'm fine with it). I also like the crab ravioli, kabobs, or a gyro. Yes, the pizzas are fine, and sometimes we'll go to those. Oh, and not to forget the eggplant. I remember walking in one day and saying, "We debated about not coming. Sorry, we've been working in the yard, so it's old clothes." The response was, "So what? You're home!!! Who cares?" read more

Eek! Methinks Not. Where do I even start. I've eaten here a few times. I don't go to a place and bash it after one bad experience. I give my local businesses a second (third and fourth) chance. The waitresses I've dealt with were lovely, as well as one bartender who I believe got out of there as fast as he could. One server in particular was...disgusting....It appeared and smelled as if he hadn't washed his hair in weeks. His general demeanor was fake and unsettling. The food is generally okay. Except the pizza, because there were definitely cigarette ashes on it. Disgusting. If I even think they are smoking in the kitchen at a restaurant, I'm not eating there. (and yes it does happen, I've witnessed it first hand). All around a no go. Spend a little more money and go to Magnolias. read more

Very strange service, had a new waiter every time they came to my table. Place was busy but food took 40+ mins before they brought out my food. It was very hard to get some one to bring me a drink refill. When the food finally came out it was not great. I had the falafel which was served on a dry cold pita. So disappointed. Had been here last summer and it was pretty good then. The other night- not so much. We had a young waitress who was more interested in chatting with the bartender then providing service (my daughter is also a young waitress). The food was just OK- chicken souvlaki and what was supposed to be a chicken gyro but was was some other meat. The best part was the beer, sad to say and we had to sit outside in a tent with heaters. Stopped in for take out today. My order was wrong and the waitress was very rude. I asked someone for extra celery that I offered to pay extra for. He had to go get the owner/cook? who was extremely rude and wanted to argue about giving me extra celery. I told him to never mind and left. We'll be trying someplace else next time. I moved to the Purcellville area about 6 months ago and soon after found Anthony's. I have now been here for dinner at least 10 times! Love this place. The staff is super-friendly and my wife and I have tried many different dinner entrees. Every one of them has been delicious. I even brought my father here one time. He likes to complain about everything and he was complimentary of his experience. My favorites include their Rigatoni Bongusto, Seafood Pasta and Eggplant Rollatini. read more

We ordered take out from here a few weeks ago, while it was just two pizzas and an order of calamari it was just ok. It was a Sunday night and the turn around time was quick. Being new to the area we've quickly realized our idea of "good pizza" is almost non-existent. But alas we are determined to try everyone out in hopes of finding decent pizza that doesn't resemble Dominios. We also ordered calamari. It was literally the smallest order I've ever seen. By the time my kids had a few pieces each there was one pieces left for me and my husband. There was also no marinara sauce on the side. I plan to give them another try and eat in this time and test out few of their pasta dishes. Hopefully they impress and I will update my review accordingly read more

I have a husband who is an amazing cook so I am admittedly spoiled. For a small town restaurant a bit outside the typical definition of suburbia, I don't think it was bad. $5 for an acceptable glass of wine is nice. The salads could have been a bit more special, the Mediterranean appetizer sampler was better then average. I got stuffed shells, my husband got Veal Picatta. Both were fine. We've had far worse and yes, they could have been better. However, all in all, we'd go back. The prices were great for a family restaurant and the food was great for a local spot. No real complaints. How does an Italian restaurant undercook eggplant for a parmesan on the initial order, and then upon replacement make the exact same dish, and having taken plenty of time to prepare it, undercook it again? Management sincerely tried to correct with offers of other dishes, settling on some pasta and sauce, could have done that at home. Waitstaff essentially dropped the plates for appetizers on the table, failed to bring a glass of water, and was impatient for our order. Great good and great service. I always find something I'd like to eat from grilled cheese and bacon to calzone to chicken picacata or marsala. I love the chicken kabob. Tender and full of flavor. The food is consistently excellent My parents love the place and they eat at a lot of higher priced places Decor is just fine with me. The place many years ago was a Highs but is has been remodeled. I can make excuses for food taking a long time to arrive (see prior 4 star review of Anthony's). But, I can't excuse taking a long time + being cold when it arrives. That's what we experienced today. The annoying wait could have been alleviated, if the bread we ordered ever appeared... the only time we saw it was on the bill. The waiter actually put up a bit of an argument, swearing that he thought he brought it out. Well, no one had come by to bus the table, so where was the empty bread basket? Also, I think I would have known if it arrived.We didn't eat it and instantaneously forget, and it's a weird thing to lie about. The final bit of irking was when he indicated that he "discounted" the check as opposed to "corrected" it. Semantics, maybe. Anyway, it's not horrible, but you can do better. read more

Unless you want pizza or meatballs this isn't the place. So many times I go and order the side of vegetables and I know I'm expecting too much as they taste like they were defrosted in a microwave. I know there's not much selection of food in the area, but honestly, I just do not understand how people rave about this place. As a family, we've ordered from here twice. Once dining in, a second as carry out. For the dine in experience, it was just really underwhelming. Nothing to write home about. Best I could tell, nearly everything on the plate was frozen pre-packaged, or at best pre-made and sitting waiting for an order. The second time we ordered (for carry out), they left out the portion of the order that was for our 7 year old daughter, which was one of the main reasons we happened to order out that particular evening - to get some kind of nourishment in her before heading to a scheduled event that precluded making a healthy dinner at home. I see they are packed all the time, so obviously there's a following, but I'm wondering if this is more about the outdoor seating and a few cocktails vs. the food. We would not eat at this establishment again unless convinced by a friend or relative that we just need to try something different from the menu. However, we have yet to encounter any peers (in our age bracket) who rate Anthony's well either, or who would order the food. read more

I had an hour to kill on a Saturday as my ride was being repaired, so we dropped in at Anthony's for lunch - around Noon or so. Lots of light (three glass walls) and several tables already filled. Full range of clientèle - families with kids, elderly folks, teenagers, yuppies sipping wine and (the best indicator) several of LoCo's finest. LEOs are the best at sniffing out good food at reasonable prices - and we were not disappointed. The calamari was among the best I've had - a very light hand with the breading, fried just so, the calamari was lightly crunchy outside and tender inside. The marinara sauce was homemade and hot! Very tasty! I ordered a small house special pizza and my companion ordered a mushroom calzone. Both arrived hot from the oven. Crust was outstanding - not NY thin, but with enough heft to stand up to the toppings: crisp, yeasty and chewy! Tomato sauce was great - seemed to be s cousin of the marinara sauce - perhaps sweeter? Fresh toppings and lots of cheese holding everything together. The Calzone was also excellent, generous with fresh mushrooms and cheese. Dessert was tiramisu - light, creamy, chocolately - wow! Service was excellent (pleasant and attentive), restrooms were spotless, food was very, very good. All-in-all an extremely nice lunch. I think I've found a new favorite in Purcellville! read more

As a frequent visitor of Anthony's recently I have become disappointed in the lack of professionalism and service at the establishment. When I called for the corkage fee, they first didn't know what I was talking about then they put me on the phone with the manager that said they were too busy. This same week, a friend mentioned that when they visited, they offered a suggestion of helpfulness to a young man working there that was being less than courteous to a new employee.
