spanish fried chicken & cornmeal waffle
    James L.

Dinners at AOC are lovely, but Brunch at AOC is special. To start their outside atrium/garden is such a vibe in the daytime. We started out with the Sticky bun with bacon, which I highly recommend, its the perfect mix of warm, soft, gooey, sweet and salty. I also had the chicken and waffle, and it felt very premium the way they fried the chicken atop a cornmeal waffle. Add in the prosciutto atop the chicken, it was such a flavorful bite. To finish we got a cherry/peach cobbler, which needs to be ordered at the start of the meal, but the staff kindly ruched an order for us and it was the perfect end to our brunch. I'm very much looking forward to the next time I can brunch again here.

A.O.C. is a classic. The dimly lit space resembles a rustic cottage with green ivy climbing the walls. The aromas of its wood burning oven draws you in. Arroz Negro: The little black cast iron pan preserves the heat of the camouflaged ingredients. The rice is black from squid ink, which provides a subtle briny flavor. You taste each individual grain, all slightly crispy and firm. The soft sofrito of tomatoes, onions, garlic, and bell peppers has transferred its flavors to the rice. The little squid tentacles are crispy and tender. Occasionally, there are sharp pockets of parsley and scallions and even a surprising hint of heat. The saffron aioli is golden yellow and thick like runny egg yolk. The aioli is a flavor magnifier that makes things taste even more like the ocean. Now you just have to check for little black bits in your teeth. Parking: Parking is available in the adjacent neighborhood.

Our group of four dined for Sunday brunch. Our last time here was seven years ago. Even though our reservation was for 1:30 pm the menu was small and, essentially, brunch. But they did offer a few lunchtime items. The restaurant could be very quiet but on this occasion an obnoxiously loud group was so oblivious to the pleasure of others that some patrons chose to move outside patio dining. We also moved our table but the loud group was still very disturbing and so loud I could not hear the waitress. Most in our group ordered the le a.o.c burger with gruyère, dijon, caramelized shallots & crispy. I added avocado for extra flavor. It was presented very well on a plank and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly per my order. One guest ordered the scrambled egg focaccia sandwich with hooks' cheddar, nueske's bacon & chive crème fraîche and loved it. He's usually a meat eater but decided to try something new and he was happy he did. Parking in the area is very limited, more so by required residential permit parking and lots of tow away signs. We found a spot four blocks from the restaurant. Of course they do offer valet parking. One of our guests used the valet for $13. One minor issue is the restaurant charges an additional 6% for employees health care benefits. A small amount but a sign of the times.

I have been here for brunch a few times and it has always been a nice experience. The avocado toast and chicken+waffles are reliably good, and recently tried the roast turkey focaccia sandwich which I enjoyed a lot. The ambiance is quiet and fairly empty the last few times I've visited.

This is one of the cutest places for a brunch with a covered outdoor terrace with gorgeous ivy climbing up the walls. The food here is really solid as well, we had the charcuterie, egg focaccia sandwich, steak and eggs, and the dessert platter. The egg focaccia sandwich is super fluffy and cheesy and exactly what you want in a breakfast sandwich. The steak is cooked tender with the most delicious crispy fried potatoes. You cannot skip on the breakfast platter, it is a sweet tooth's dream. The chocolate torte, homemade peanut butter, cups, and chocolate covered honeycomb were my absolute favorites. I will absolutely be back here to enjoy another brunch. Service is really fantastic as well. They're kind and don't rush you.

Among this round of Dine LA restaurants, we found this place offering a vegetarian menu, which I really appreciated since my friend is vegetarian. That's what made us decide to give it a try. Overall, the experience was quite good. The menu offered a nice variety of dishes, and the portions were generous. We were definitely full by the end of the meal. The pricing felt reasonable, the environment was calm and quiet, and the service was attentive and well paced. While the food wasn't particularly flashy, it was satisfying and well balanced, and we were able to enjoy a wide range of vegetarian dishes with good nutritional variety. Overall, it's a solid choice and a good recommendation for anyone looking for vegetarian options during Dine LA. The only small letdown was that the dessert wasn't as appealing as the rest of the meal.

DineLA Dinner at A.O.C., A Cozy, Flavor-Packed Night in West Hollywood We visited A.O.C. last night for their DineLA prix fixe dinner, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The four of us opted into the $65 menu, and while every dish was thoughtfully prepared, a few standouts truly elevated the evening. The grilled market fish, which turned out to be trout, was the unexpected star. I would've never ordered trout on my own, but that's the magic of DineLA; it nudges you to try dishes you might normally skip. I'm genuinely glad I was "forced" into it because it ended up being one of the best bites of the night: perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and paired with fideos and salbitxada that added depth and brightness. The cauliflower with curry and red wine vinegar was another standout. Spiced just right and bursting with flavor, it was one of those sides that could easily hold its own as a main. We also loved the Spanish goat cheese with chorizo and honey; rich, savory, and balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and crunch. It quickly became a table favorite. I ordered an amaretto sour, and it was perfectly crafted; smooth, balanced, and easily one of the best I've had in Los Angeles. The ambiance at A.O.C. is always inviting, but the fireplace made the evening feel especially cozy on a chilly LA night. It added warmth and atmosphere without feeling overdone. Whether you're a longtime fan or visiting for the first time, A.O.C.'s DineLA menu is a wonderful way to experience their seasonal, chef-driven cooking, especially when shared with family.

I've dined at A.O.C. a few times, but was never able to try Chef Suzanne Goin's and business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne's first LA restaurant, Lucques, now closed. They were known for their Sunday Suppers at Lucques, which became a bestselling cookbook. A.O.C. recently held a 20th Anniversary dinner Celebration of Sunday Suppers at Lucques, which I attended, on a Sunday. It was a fabulous and "star-studded" dinner, chef-wise. A.O. C. has a warm indoor dining room and an especially lovely patio, which is where I've always dined. There's another more make-shift outdoor area on the opposite side. It was used during the pandemic and maybe for large events, but was closed for this dinner. The dinner consisted of 5 courses, dishes all from the cookbook. The meal began with delicious bread from Suzanne and Caroline's Larder Baking Co. and small dishes of olives and almonds, as is Suzanne's penchant. I tried two of their non-alcoholic drinks, the Shaddock Shandy and the Viola Fizz, with the Fizz being my preference, as it was fruitier. The dishes presented were: 1) james' broccoli with burrata, pine nuts and warm anchovy vinaigrette 2) pancetta-wrapped trout with verjus, crushed grapes and fennel gratin 3) grilled squab with farro, kabocha squash, cavolo nero and pomegranate salsa 4) Portuguese-style pork and clams with chorizo and fried potatoes 5) jessica's favorite meyer lemon tart with a layer of chocolate All dishes were fab, with my faves being the broccoli, trout and squab. I recognized chef David Lentz at the next table; he's chef Suzanne's husband. I would learn through social media other chefs who attended; I recognized Elizabeth Falkner and Shirley Chung. Even on non-event days, A.O.C. is a highly recommended dining spot. I remember most fondly their Farmer's Plate with roasted veggies, muhamarra, hummus and burrata, and their "Ode to Zuni" Roasted Chicken. I'd like to try their brunch someday.

I will follow a.o.c. wherever they are. Originally a customer of the OG location further down on 3rd, this place has always consistently felt like home. Suzanne and her team work hard to create consistent flavors across their menu to always make you feel like you're having some of the most elevated flavors in the coziest of places. In terms of what to get in addition to their seasonal dishes which rotate: - bacon wrapped dates - a must and an original staple - farro - seriously so good with anything but especially a meat dish - ode to zuni - for a bigger group, a true tribute to some of the best chicken I'll ever have from Zuni Cafe in SF They'll rotate some dishes in and out based on ingredients and the season so you know you're going to get some quality items every time. And the space is so charming - think Californian Spanish style with a warmth and charm of home. They have patio areas and valet parking. Street parking can get tricky with meters and restricted parking signs. Valet is also available for a fee.

Had a great dinner at AOC, sitting on their patio. Had an early res and we were one of the first parties seated, so the restaurant lacked a bit of energy which was unfortunate. But by the end of our meal, the place was PACKED and there was big energy happening, so plan your dining time according to what kind of atmosphere you desire. Cocktails and wine were excellent, the small plates were wonderful. (I think we had the Parmesan dates, one of the focaccias, the bass, and the corn pudding. Dessert was the sampler for two. The pot de creme soared. The peanut butter cups and other items were delicious. Though the little smores fell a bit flat. (Overall the dessert board was a win!) Couple things to keep in mind. Here, like lots of other places, if you just go for dinner and stick to the foods, you can have a totally reasonably priced meal. We were celebrating, so the drinks and the desserts kept coming. So what could be a great spot for a weeknight dinner can get super pricey (if you're worried about such things) because the alcohol and dessert expense really drives up the bill. Don't get me wrong - not complaining. The experience was worth it. But just be aware. Couple other things. One, they add a 6% (at the time of this review) charge to apparently provide health care or other benefits to their staff. Well intentioemd, but it would be nice to have been aware of this ahead of time, or for more details about where that money goes. Also, they will require a credit card to guarantee the res, with a $25 per head fee if you no show. Having gone to culinary school and understanding the challenges restaurants face, I get it. And no-shows are rude. But I'm not a fan of the practice. So just be aware that that's a thing and make sure you're really committed to your day and time before you book. Overall, they're getting 5 stars because the atmosohere, food, service, and experience were great, despite some minor hiccups. Go! Enjoy!

First off the servers were amazing and friendly no issues at all there, quick and fun! Good recommendations for drinks and meals. I had the chicken and waffles but it's completely different than any I had before. Cornmeal waffle and Spanish fried chicken with cumin. The chicken was great and flavorful and moist. The waffle was divine in fact I want one right now. I had the green goddess and a bloody Mary. The green goddess was definitely the highlight for drinks. Three of the group had the omelette and said it was good but nothing amazing. Chile Verde pork though I tried and the focaccia egg sandwich i had a bite of and those were also both amazing so I don't know if I trust the omelette folks opinion. Looking at it I think I would have liked it. They wanted more cheese but that's exactly why I don't order omelettes usually they have too much cheese. Avocado toast looked good as well. I digress but the point is the food was amazing. We sat in the courtyard a party of 8 and they took care of us exceedingly well. It has a very nice covered outdoor area even on a hot day it was pleasant there. They also have a great whiskey list.

We hosted a private dinner for 30 here at AOC and it was executed perfectly. Their private room is ideal, with its own entrance, separate bathroom, and plenty of room to move around with your group. If your dream dinner takes place at one long beautiful table, you have found your spot! The food and service were topnotch. The chicory salad with apple created a lasting memory for me, as did the Spanish fried chicken. And I loved my clementine fizz! Alex M was great to work with. He greeted me and showed me to the space when I arrived to set up, and introduced me to the staff who took such great care of us. Our group had dietary restrictions and they were accommodated seamlessly. I'd trust AOC with any important meal: engagement party, rehearsal dinner, launch event, board dinner, etc. They handled all the details so I could focus on my people--and that's all any host wants, right?

    Grilled veggies

Came here for a wine tasting. Perfect place for an intimate event. Nice decor. Good service. Grilled veggies were good, maybe a touch soft. Beautiful charcuterie board with fresh made dips. Delicious lamb lollipops, so flavorful and tender. I'm coming back for dinner.

It's dark but has warm lighting and really cool decor such as upside down stools and fireplaces on the ceiling. My bartenders Matt & Kelsey were super friendly & made some fire drinks. The menus are aesthetic to look at because drinks are categorized by type of liquor, each drink described in detail and each description is accompanied by a picture of what the drink is supposed to look like. However, there is no food menu just alcoholic drinks. I found parking across the street where the CVS & WholeFoods are located. I didn't have any issues, but I only parked there for about 2 hours. Right before I left, the bartenders helped me discover a secret entrance to the bar next door. When you walk in you'll notice a bookshelf, if you slide that bookshelf to the right, you'll open the entrance to the bar next door. Pretty cool! Will definitely come back again.

The place is so cool and oh, so fun! The Aviator is a magnificently decorated and themed airplane bar which has a first class and coach section seats that are exactly like being on a real airplane along with seat belts, trays and movable arm chairs and a Flight Attendant bell to request service! Food: we were treated to fries which were delicious! The Aviator offers a nice appetizer menu along with specialty drinks themed to the bar. We ordered Aperol Spritzes and they were delicious and refreshing! All reasonably priced too, yay! They have "cart" service too which added to the airplane themed experience! Service: Splendid! The Bartender and Flight Attendant were attentive and friendly! My friend and I had a blast of fun and plan to visit again soon! If you haven't been to The Aviator yet, plan to do so! You'll be glad you did!
