Just got to town and checked into the Hampton Inn next door. Had 30 mins to kill before meeting up with someone, so I thought I'd stop in for a happy hour pint. Sat at bar at 4:59 and they were changing over the cash register to a new bar tender. Of course that took 4 mins before they were able to "get with me". Then I asks for a happy hour draft beer and was told happy hour ended at 5:00. Well shit! I was here in this seat before 5:00! Was told they can't turn back the clock on the register for happy hour prices. Guess what? I just moved here for a job and I can find all kinds of other places that sell an Alaskan Amber for far less than the $6.50 Applebee's charged me. read more

Took our oldest grandson to Applebees for his birthday because he got a free birthday dinner certificate from Applebee's for his good grades. It was fairly busy for a Monday night but we were seated right away. The waitress quickly took our order and went out of her way to make our grandson feel super special. He really like the games on the kid's menus and played a red hot game of connect the dots. My wife and I tried the 550 calorie dinners. The peppercorn steak with shrimp was cooked to perfection but the Asian shrimp with noodles was just ok. It was a good time. If only I could give zero stars... Sat waiting in the carside-to-go spot for 25 minutes. Ten of those minutes were spent on hold, after basically giving my entire order again. No explanations on when the food might arrive, and no apologies. Finally get the order, and unfortunately didn't check it (at this point, I was fifteen minutes past my lunch half-hour and needed to get back to work). There was no chicken in the fiesta "chicken" salad (with wilted lettuce), and they had completely left off one of the soups ordered. Called the "manager" and requested a refund on the missing soup, and wish I had asked for a refund on the salad as well. Still no apologies for the shoddy service. This is by far one of the best experiences I have ever had at an Applebees. Our server Dani was such a a pleasure. She was super attentive and totally anticipated every need we had. When we were sat she remembered us from coming in about a week ago. She kept engaged making us laugh and away also full of suggestions we split an appetizer platter which we had shared on our last visit we then tried the new whiskey shot chicken which was excellent!!! Chicken was moist and full of flavor. When we were finished that we then we're ready for dessert Dani suggested the new banana foster Cracker Jacks cheesecake which was phenomenal but above how good the food was the guest experience was above and beyond any that my husband and I ever imagined was possible at Applebee's thank you so much for a wonderful experience and we will be back again to visit for sure!!! read more

If you get seated with a waitress named Nitta, ask to be reseated with a different server. Worst service I've experienced at a dining establishment in years. Worst place to eat. Waited 25 minutes just to take our order. Keep in mind there was only one other party in the restaurant when we got here. Food was the wrong order. Finally got the right burger and it ended up tasting like old sour sauce was used along with the old dried up pickles. I should of known it was still going to suck here. The service is terrible, I like their soup/salad combo but can't get past the service. 2 seperate visits a couple of years apart they lost our food order. The first time the lady was super rude to us, saying In a rude tone that they were slammed for lunch hour, 45 mins later she came out and told us they lost our food order but they were making it and would hav wit pronto. It has been just over a year since I last went to this restaurant. Having forgotten what it was like to eat here, I decided to give it another try with my daughter and my dad. When we first stepped into the restaurant, I couldn't help but notice a funny smell. I figured it could have been any number of the older men in front of us, so I just brushed it aside. However, after we were seated in a somewhat deserted area, the smell did not subside. Something about this restaurant did not smell right as all. That was when we were led to our table by a very nice young woman. We were then greeted by a relatively friendly waiter, who was was very prompt at first when taking our orders. When we finally got our food, that was when things began to go very south. I had asked for a substitution in my meal, and the waiter clearly regarded this and looked me straight in the eye when I made the request. However, when my meal came to me, I did not get vegetables like I had asked. I got the potatoes. I politely asked the waiter if I could have the vegetables I had asked for in the first place. He apologized and said he forgot to "put it in" when he gave our order to the cooks. So around five minutes later I received my vegetables. They tasted TERRIBLE. Not sure how one could make veggies taste like crap, but they did not sit right on my tongue at all. I normally cook vegetables a lot at home, and they never tasted as bad as they did that meal. What saved the meal was that the salad and steak I got was well prepared and tasted good, and the coffee wasn't bad, either. The Mac and Cheese that I ordered for my daughter left a lot to be desired. It was not worth what they charged for it, and you are better off making it yourself at home straight out of the box. We waited a while for our check to come, and my dad even attempted to flag down the waiter twice, to which we were ignored by him. It wasn't until several minutes later that we finally got our check. I would not recommend going to Applebee's. Only come here if you are desperate. There are much MUCH better places to eat in town, and at cheaper prices. read more

I like the food, the food is ALWAYS good and prepared every time according to my finicky tastes. but over and over again, you have to chase down the waiter, when you get the waiter, they get the order wrong, or have to go get something, or you wait FOREVER to get something. The tea was supposed to be ENDLESS, that does not mean one filling. I had to flag down the greeter to get ice for my watered down tea. I have been here three times this summer and this was the last time. I don't mind going someplace else if I get my food in a timely manner and warm and some attention paid to me. My boyfriend and I decided to go to apple bees for lunch, i was super excited and super hungry, Apple Bees rarely ever lets me down. This time we went our service was AWEFUL! Not in the sense that we weren't getting served but the fact that Trisha, our waitress decided to just stand there at our table and stare at my boyfriend. I eat here a lot because my father loves the place. The service is good, the food is hit and miss. If you order a steak and want it cooked medium you should order it raw. I went for lunch on July 25, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. I was waiting forever to be seated. Several workers walking around; however, no one bothered to ask if I had been helped. I left and so happen I ran into a manager outside and explained what had just happened to me.. The manager apologized and offered me a soft drink.. I was told the lunch hours were over by the greeter,, Really!! I arrived at 1:30 and it was 2:30. I told the young man it's 2:30 lunch hours are over at 3:00 p.m. In short I ordered my food it was nasty and I notice the place is filthy. Also some of the servers clothes looked dirty. I used to love Applebee's like 15 years ago...their weird, kitschy decor and the big beers. To my amazement, they got rid of the decor that included some local heirlooms. Now they're going for sports bar. ANOTHER ONE. I miss it. It was a confusing menu, and the waiter was pretty ditzy. I had the Sriracha shrimp which turned out to be pretty good. People go to Applebee's because they are expecting consistently average food. The last experience I had there was dismal even by that standard. The hostess was slow in acknowledging us, then the table was fit in a spot that made it impossible to fit a human, even a thin one. The waitress was awful, the station we were in was absolutely filthy and everyone that went by set more stuff down on the dirty 12 top instead of the other way around. The food took way too long and was cold by the time we got it but we didn't see her again for our refills until we got tired of waiting, and asking for a manager who never came, so we ate it anyway. I feel bad giving them a 1 because they did apologize but there were just too many things wrong with the whole experience. First of all it took awhile for someone to come help us. It did take us awhile to decide on what we wanted so that's our bad. My husbands beer took 20 minutes to come out. Then the woman who brought it over (who wasn't our server) took our order. At this point I didn't feel like waiting another 20 min to wait for someone to come check on us to say something. So I scraped the bacon off my burger and tried to eat it. Which it came out basically plain. No lettuce, tomatoes or onions. Nothing that I asked for. I did say something to the server when he came over. Again a list of excuses and then asked, "What? You don't like bacon?" First of all yes I do like bacon but not when it looks like someone chewed it up and spit it back on my burger. Also, I am pregnant and there are a few things I choose not to eat and that is one of them. Whether I like it or not, I didn't ask for it; I didn't want it. At this point we realized no one was going to do anything about helping with our bill so we gave the server 20% and paid and both agreed we will never go back. Had they taken something off the bill to remedy the situation then we probably would have been okay with it. But the fact that your excuse is "Sorry we are really busy" just doesn't cut it for me. I have been going to this resturant ever since it opened. There has been a marked decline in food and service. We went last week on a Sat. night for dinner around 6:30 PM. When we walked in I noticed a stale smell that happens when the carpets have not been cleaned for a while. The table was so stickey the menues stuck to it. It was not very busy but the service was so so. The water we had was sparotic with service. At first he was too attentive then he disappeared and we didn't see him for a while. Had to ask another wait person to get him. After we had finished he came over with the check and plunked it down on the table and didn't ask if we wanted desert which we did. My first time here and I wasn't happy. We walked in and the greeter didnt even look at us and just asked how many and if we'd like a table or booth. We said a booth for two and he took us to a table. Our waiter was nice and she was quick with our drinks. Our menus were sticky and there was food on the floor. I ordered the 4 cheese mac and cheese with honey chicken (it had a really long name) thinking it'd be nice and cheesy and my aunt got the steak. My mac and cheese was just mac, I barely tasted any cheese on it, it was like they just boiled the macaroni and then served it to me. The chicken was also too sweet and it was a lot like frozen chicken. My aunt didnt have anything good or bad to say about her steak. I just wanted to leave after trying to eat my macaroni. My aunt got a box for her steak and the box that we got had some red sticky stuff on the cover and I was getting really annoyed so we paid our tab and left. Nope I'm never going again. Danny's service was incredible. She made sure me and my family were fully taken care of. I don't know if she is currently a supervisor but I do suggest you promote her. She was helping coworkers with their tables to make sure that the customers did not leave. Some of the best service I have received in Anchorage. I have not eaten at Applebees here in Anchorage for several years but will be sure to go back since the service was so great.
