This is a great bar that's located inside the Marriott hotel. It's very open and has a lot of room and tons of tables. What I loved about this bar is that no one bothers you to keep ordering. We came in and found a table that had very comfortable chairs. We sat down and started to look over the drinks menu. A waiter came over and asked us what we would like, we said we were waiting for some friends and that we would wait to order. The waiter was very nice and didn't pressure us to order anything. Once our friends came we saw our waiter and waved him back over. He took our orders and even though they were a bit busy he got our drinks out to us very quickly. We where able to sit and chat and enjoy ourselves without being constantly bugged. The waiter checked on us a few times and then allowed us to take the lead and wave him over when we wanted something else. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience!! Hard to fathom I have not been to this fantastic party to date. What a great atmosphere and lovely setting. I visited friends staying in the main property and the views were outstanding and incomparable in the desert. I found the food, drinks and service top-notch and the general mood very festive. Granted it was a Saturday night but I found FREE parking adjacent to the main entrance (SaWEET!!!) and ease of access was most appreciated. The prices were reasonable and that credit card power goes alot further than you might expect. Extremely HIGH recommend for mingling with the beautiful youth of this country since most residents are seniors. Want to experience life on the exciting side, don't miss this place. Location - Inside the JW Marriott in Palm Desert Parking - Hotel Valet or Guest parking structure. Service - Staff here is always friendly and very nice. Bar - Bar area is large with a large counter, and lots of lounge areas around it. Beautiful views of the resort and watching people go on the complimentary boat ride around the resort. Prices - Avg prices on drinks. Drinks - Good pours just depends on the bartenders. Overall a great bar in the resort and will be back for sure. read more

The Lobby Bar at this Hotel is in a class by itself--you have to see it. It's huge with a people watching panoramic view. You can take a corner seat and have more privacy, or sit in the middle of the large floor and be the center of attention, or sit at the bar. We love sitting with a fine wine there and relaxing. The gentleman that served us was as good as it gets in service anywhere. Later, he told us that he has worked at the hotel for 14 years! And he really knew his wine. He brought a couple over for tasting and hit it right away and we had one of our best glasses. This is an easy place to return to whether you stay at the hotel or not. Great for romance, or meeting friends, or hanging with family (mature fun family only). Not good for meeting or hooking up with other singles it appeared to me. Wine is 12 to 20 a glass so on the higher end--but this is classy upscale elaborate hotel. They of course have a food menu, but we rarely eat hotel food unless its an independent 4 or 5-star restaurant at the hotel. And if you need more romance to put it over the top--take the boat ride on the Hotel's private lake that runs nights too I believe. read more

This review is for a bar located in a lobby as the name suggests. Sounds fancy already, right? Well, this bar is located in the lobby of the J W Marriott Resort and Spa in Palm Desert and is amazing. I haven't tried any of their food offerings here yet so this review is strictly 'bout the dranks. I've been to this bar several times during various trips (business and personal) and the service has always extremely excellent. Everyone that works here is always very attentive and "Johnny On the Spot". They even politely put up w/ various guests that have already had a fair share of "fun" before getting to the lobby (but I'm sure they get that a lot). There's plenty of seating both at the bar counter and in the surrounding area; plenty of comfy chairs and couches, televisions, tables, and dimly lit lamps. Plus the nearest restrooms are just a mere few drunken stumbles away. One of the best parts is the view of the lake that runs from inside the hotel all the way outside to the resort's golf course. There's a little ferry u can board from the lobby to take a tour of the entire lake and u can even get to the nearby restaurants via this method. Drinks are tasty and pretty strong and their signature drinks are pricey. This bar can fill up fast on nights and if there is any sort of event going on. If u want a great place to sip on some Henney (or whatever b ur drink of choice ;) and simply just relax w/ outstanding service, then this hotel's lobby bar "Lobby Bar" is the way to go. read more

This area is pretty hopping during the night and the people watching is legit. My problem is with the sushi bar that is set up here. I just can't wrap my head around any of the glowing reviews of it! Sitting at the bar you will quickly find that the orders coming in from the waitresses are the priority. Prices are really high with a small spicy tuna roll costing about $12. The signature rolls are $16 or higher which isn't that bad. I opted for one with a seared tuna. It was large and easily made me full. The seaweed salad I plunked down $8 for was a large portion but lacked flavor. I feel bad because the waitress spilled soy sauce on white linen pants and only offered a "sorry" and a small glass of soda. It was a large amount that stained both sides of the pants!!! I ended calling the hotel manager to sort something out. So as a bar this place might get more stars. As a sushi bar I say spend your money somewhere else. read more

Lobby Bar gets 4 stars. Sushi Bar (also in Lobby Area) gets 5 stars. Stayed at the JW Marriott Palm Desert last weekend, and enjoyed the pool, enjoyed the boat rides on the man-made lakes, and enjoyed the oppulence of the property. Did NOT enjoy the noise level at night (as we were there to catch up on sleep), and did NOT enjoy the staff messing up our reservation, and moving rooms 3 times. BUT...did VERY MUCH enjoy the Lobby Bar and Sushi Bar...here's why... Lobby Bar...we made it there twice...all drinks were well prepared by SUPER friendly bar tenders, and the had a great selection of everything, were quick to suggest an exciting drink, and were very attentive, despite the large Insurance Convention going on, and the crowd...well done barkeeps! Sushi Bar...was outstanding...we were shut out of Mikado's night 1 due to reservations being booked, so we ambled to the sushi bar instead. I eat a lot of sushi, and for a 10-12 seat lobby setting sushi bar, the fish looked super fresh...the 3 sushi chefs were humming at light speed with precision...and the menu offered just enough to get a variety of tastes without having 9,000 rolls to choose from. I was not flashy, it was not too dumbed down...it was just right. Great fresh fish, the rolls had good diverse flavors, and the portions were huge. We had two rolls, the JW Firecracker roll, and the Momo. Both were outstanding...and we had a sashimi platter with all the usuals...they were even amicable to swapping the octopus portion for more yellowtail, as we are not octopus people...(I think you either are, or are not). The prices at both Sushi and Lobby Bars are a little high...but what you would expect of an Ultra-Lounge or higher-end sushi restaurant...so nothing too out of the ordinary...considering we wanted to check in the hotel and not leave for a couple days...we knew we were signing up for resort prices on drinks/food... If you go to the JW in Palm Desert...don't miss the chance at a good drink and some great sushi! read more

If I could give this bar 10 stars I would. We own a time share at the Marriott Villas behind the JW. Every year we walk over for cocktails in the lobby bar. They are amazing. Their bar food is equally amazing. Their sushi plans pub chips are a family favorite. Their cocktails are delicious. If you make it their for cocktails walk down the stairs for a boat ride around the property or have the boat take you to dinner at the property. Also go out to the front and see the most perfect flowers and flamingos!! On Friday and Sat night they have love music. The whole experience is one of our favorites. read more

Never was technically at the bar but came to eat sushi for dinner. The general area can get pretty busy for dinner, only 6 seats or so for the actually sushi bar. We ate at the tabled, the waiter we had was very attentive and nice. The pricing for sushi wasn't too bad considering it was at the JW. However, the salad my friends bought was way overpriced. The sushi was pretty decent as well. I also had the green mussels which I enjoyed and the scallops were pretty tasty as well. So you don't have to leave the hotel, I would suggest going here to eat to get you sushi on! read more

I thought with the resorts and all it would be top of the line sushi but it was just mediocre. Not that it wasn't bad but expected more. Also the presentation was I kind of sloppy, and didn't stay together. I dont find myself a sushi connoisseur but don't think for the price and taste and presentation I can't give it more than 3 stars. read more

Four of us came to the JW Marriott lobby bar for drinks on 6/14/21. Our review has nothing to do with Covid protocols. We asked for their signature drink, the summer hummer, and the response was, "we don't have a blender"!! How ridiculous! You can go to the local Target and get a blender for $30.00. This is a big bar. They should have at least 2 blenders to use. Our waiter said their blender has been broken since Memorial Day. Very disappointed. This was a favorite hotel bar to visit when we come here every year for the last 20 plus years. The lack of follow through to fix a simple problem is absurd. We stopped by here on both Friday and Saturday around 5PM before heading to Stagecoach and both times, we found the sushi bar to be excellent and most important, fresh. It's rare that you find a good sushi bar right in the middle of any hotel. We ordered the sushi platter both nights and my wife and I split it. The yellowtail was my favorite and my wife enjoyed the snow crab. Lewis at the bar was both engaging and helpful as well. The wine list was more than acceptable and they had two pinot grigio wines that I enjoyed. All in all, it was a fantastic way to start our evening and the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend this as an option where you want to start off the night with a nice sushi dinner. read more

During our stay at the JW Marriott resort this was the best place we had our meal, service and ambiance. It was a focal point of the resort that overlooks the starting point of the gondola, reception and view of the gold course through the large windows. It was of course a lounge style with conversation tables and seatings and a Japanese mini sushi bar that serves delicious sushi! For the price of it it's decent. Try the hummingbird for decent sizes pieces for $16 is a bit pricey but it's tasty for what you can get on the resort if you don't want to step off the resort. After finding our seats within 5 minutes the bar/waitress immediately came greeted us and asked if we wanted any drinks. You were able to order sushi and other American style items on the menu as well. She was super nice, attentive and tried to accommodate our questions and needs during the time. Definitely a great place to hang out as mentions and go for the sushi too. read more

Friday Night my friends and I had dinner and drinks here. The placed was packed and it is located in the middle of the lobby and can get loud at times. There was one section where people were dancing and drinking and another section on the opposite side that had a sushi bar. I thought the sushi bar was a little random and weirdly placed, but it actually turned out to be delicious! Our waitress was nice but when we asked her questions about our sushi rolls she was clueless. If you are staying at the hotel. Howevee it is the extremely awesome service that gets this good ratings, u can just tell by all the small details 1. Our server was very informative and checked on us on multiple times for refills and to see if we needed anything 2. My gf ordered a Scooby snack, bartender made it into a shot, our server quickly switched it to a drink after we informed them 3. Our server saw my gf ID and noticed it was her bday today, so he surprised us with a delicious cheesecake and sang the happy bday song before we got our check! I checked into this Marriott on my first day and the hotel looked pretty nice. However when we pulled up to the front they offered 36$ valet which is absolutely outrageous and doesn't make any sense at all. The private parking is a pretty long walk from the actual hotel on top of it considering that your room could be on the opposite side of the hotel. When we arrived at our rooms we had our kids go to a room down the hallway of ours and had them play on their Xbox. It was not even very late at night considering it is the day before New Year's Eve and there are still people downstairs being loud, our kids get a noise complaint for being quote, "too noisy." I assure you that they weren't and if they were they were not obnoxiously playing loud music, yelling, or shouting curse words. They were talking at a normal voice had the television on and might have been laughing from time to time. We arrived to the room and dealt with the security and we told him that we will have our kids whisper if they were being too loud even though they weren't. Literally less than ten minutes later we have a different security guard arrive to the room. Again with the same complaint and this time we were in the room with our kids, we muted the television and were all WHISPERING. The security guard was very unprofessional in the way that he handled the situation. The fact that he said quote "you guys are being too noisy" even when we were whispering was very unprofessional. When we as adults approached the man we told him that we were not in fact making this noise and when telling him that he rudely responded. He offered to evict us and told us rudely to leave and that they will quote "evict us." The fact that this occurred less than ten minutes after the last complaint and that we were all whispering in the room is really upsetting. The man handled the situation in a very unprofessional, rudimentary, and callow approach. On top of this speaking with the management was no different. They too handled the situation poorly and had absolutely POOR customer service and were inexperienced. They truly represented the hotel in an extremely bad way. We have kids like most of the people staying and they should consider that because this is considered a family hotel. They are not welcoming, unfriendly, and rude. The next day on NEW YEARS EVE, our kids receive a noise complaint for apparently being too loud at 8:00 pm when there is a goddamn party downstairs where they're blasting music. These men told our kids ,keep in mind that they're kids, to PACK UP AND LEAVE AND GET OUT!!!! This is extremely rude and unprofessional on the security's behalf for treating KIDS like this. This action frightened all of our family's children. Three of their men even followed my niece who is a 12 year old GIRL to her room which extremely scared her. They were abusing their power. They came back with some more staff and handled the situation poooooooorly. And at the end of all of it they had a security man follow my family to the door of my room and didn't leave until my family and I left.This is an obstruction of my family's privacy and is extremely unprofessional and there aren't even words in the dictionary to describe this disgusting experience. I left my room and the security was still there watching over my room and family. I left the hotel on New Year's Eve and they insisted we all leave. Don't waste your time and hard earned money here since there are so many other options in the desert and trust me I've stayed at better places at the same price. Fancy $17 margarita was very good and very strong, with 3 types of alcohol. Sushi was tasty and fresh, and good portions. Didn't love the volcano roll-too spicy/too much siracha. It's sad that such a nice resort has such horrible customer service. Our first experience was on a Friday afternoon we saw that they had a sushi bar and we were really craving some sushi. The sign said they open at 2pm Fri-Sunday. so we decided to walk around and then come back when they open. We came back at 2:30 and they were still closed. We asked one of the front desk employees when they would be open and they said they didn't know. We ended up asking another employee at the bar and it turns out that in the summer they don't open until 4pm. Not sure why they would have a signs saying they would open at 2. Was a little frustrating but we decided to give them a chance the following day. When we first sat at the sushi bar no one welcomed us. We were handed the menu and then when asking questions we literally received responses like "mmmhhmm and sure". I couldn't believe how rude the guy was. Stopped in for a drink on Sunday evening and got there just as the sun had started to set and wow, what a fabulous view! The bar is nicely decorated with plenty of couches, high back chairs, bar stools and tables and we had very attentive service, with someone coming by on a regular basis to see if we needed anything. The house made chips with sea salt were delicious and we were surprised that our champagne came garnished with a huge, ripe strawberry. Great place, great service and beautiful view... I was staying at this hotel so after checking in my friend and I decided to start out weekend out with a quick drink before dinner. The ambiance of this open air style bar was quite good. It was pretty busy yet we were still acknowledged right away along with our order being taken. We were in a bit of a rush and the bartender did not know that but it was a tad bit annoying that even though our order was taken before a small group of girls the bartender still made their shots first then ours. We had the Don Julio tequila flight which consisted of small short of Silver, Anejo, Reposado, and 1942. It was served on a special Don Julio shot holder which was kinda cool actually. This is a great stop for people watching while staying at the hotel. The food, mixed drinks and wine selection is quite good, but they forgot the beer. With the craft beer explosion on the West coast and all the breweries in SoCal, a bar like this should have taps pouring the best local brews.
