Eggs were cooked soft, may be off putting to some, and French toast was fried (not mentioned on website menu) a little heavier than expected but was still good. Wasted nearly two hours of our day here. First, we show up and the girl at the front says they're on a short 10 minute wait. Ok no problem, we give her our info and she says she'll text when our table is ready. 30 minutes go by with no text so we check in and there are several open tables, they just forgot to notify us. The oldest cafe in Memphis did NOT disappoint. Honestly the pictures don't do them justice. It's SOOOO good! The building itself has so much character. They have lots of seating throughout the two different seating areas. The food is FANTASTIC! In my humble opinion, it's easy to make good breakfast food but they have special flare and flavors details that make them extra tasty. They sauté their veggies before they put them in the omelets. "Famous" Sweet potato pancakes are slightly sweet with perfect cinnamon blend and great balance of moist and cakey. Waitress staff and hostesses were all super sweet and friendly. It feels like a small town diner where everyone knows your name and the locals are like family. We enjoyed the sweet potato stack, breakfast pizza, eggs to ways and egg white scramble. They also have a coffee and alcohol bar available. We had lattes with our breakfast and mimosas following. We enjoyed yourselves and would definitely recommend for a breakfast or lunch. read more

I want to say I love it, but I was a meh for this one. I was there twice in the short weekend I visited. The first time was average; blackened catfish was okay- way too salty, but I was starved so I still inhaled it because I was starved. Then I went again with a group of 12. We had all pre-ordered. It took a LONG time to get our food and it was all delivered at different times. I got mine last. Everyone in my party was completely finished with their meals by the time mine arrived (FYI- it was a Greek salad. How hard can this be?) So everyone had left to go back to our meeting while I sat and finished my meal, while one poor person awkwardly watched me because she didn't want to leave me by myself. So that was pretty disappointing and honestly unacceptable. If I were a server, I would have at least taken a percentage off the total. This did not happen. That said, the salad was quite good. The people who work there are quite friendly. But efficiency is beyond poor. read more

This was some of thee worst service I had in Memphis but the atmosphere and food made up for it. Visited on a Thursday before 1pm. My server appeared to be working both restaurants (not sure if the restaurant next door has a separate name but the two are connected via a walkway at the rear of Arcade). She would disappear for long stretches. I would see other servers passing by and they would say "ok" to my requests and never come back. I was unattended most of my time there. One example of a few: I had to ask for another coffee because the one I received, I couldn't get *anyone* to bring me a spoon/utensils or sugar to put in the coffee my server quickly dumped on the table then flew away. It was actually cold by the time she finally returned to the table to take my food order. The service was a huge letdown to the point I wanted to leave. But this is a landmark, the oldest cafe in the city. So I stuck it out and glad I did. That breakfast was delicious! The fried french toast? Frying it gives it like a beignet flavor. Whyyyy did I only order the sampler that came with one lil small piece??? Don't make the mistake I did - just order the whole plate of fried french toast on the side of whatever entree you're getting. It's soooo good! The sausage patty and strip of bacon went a long way, surprisingly. The perfect salty sidekicks to the sweet french toast (!!) and buttermilk pancake, all accompanied by cloud-fluffy scrambled eggs and buttery hashbrowns. It was certainly one of the most satisfying breakfasts I had while visiting the city. It's a shame that the service was so bad because I was looking forward to coming to this restaurant. I feel like if it was busy, the service would have been better. So maybe it's better to go during peak hours. Reasonable prices for it to be a touristy spot. Great visit to the Arcade Restaurant for a nice breakfast. This is the oldest cafe in the city of Memphis (1919) and the place is loaded with history (see pics)! You come in and seat yourself and we made our way to the "Elvis Booth", where "The King" himself sat when he visited this historic Diner. The food was very good. I had the Sweet Potato Pancakes (I added blueberries & whip cream to the pancakes) which comes with eggs, bacon/sausage and grits/Hash browns. My wife had the French Toast, which is made from baguette style bread (so good!). We both had our breakfasts with eggs and bacon. She had Hash browns, I had the grits with cheese. The coffee was fresh and pretty good. Everything we ordered came out warm and pretty quick. Our server (Lacy) was very sweet and came by several times to check on us and refill our coffees. And the historic look and feel of this place is what elevates it from a 4 to a 5. Very nice experience! read more

The most awful experience. We came in for our reservations at 9am and requested to sit in the Elvis booth. We knew we had to wait because it is obviously a popular tourist attraction but we had to wait over an hour to be seated because there was a gentleman just sitting there playing on his phone. I believe that you can avoid this issue by informing patrons that if you sit and the booth you have a limited time in the booth so others can enjoy it too. In many restaurants they give you a time limit on your table but they refuse to do that at arcade. After asking to speak to the manager she had the gentle close out so we can sit at the booth. I appreciated what she did so we could sit there after waiting for so long. I was excited to try the breakfast at the arcade but it o my surprise the food was awful. The coffee and the food came out cold. The sausages were burnt. I couldn't even eat the eggs. I'm surprised you can mess up breakfast food that bad. read more

She was friendly and speedy. The country ham with eggs, biscuits and gravy, and grits was a mountain of calories. The ham was a little tough but the flavor was absolutely delicious. The biscuits and gravy were very good. The grits? Tasteless. I'm sure they were from a packet. Get the hash browns instead. Good luck getting the Elvis booth. Our waitress was very nice, took our drink and food orders and then it was over an hour and a half wait for our food. People sat well after us were eating before we were. Not sure what happened. One of our plates of food was given to someone else so they had to remake it all. The other was a burger that was so dry because it sat just drying out under the heat lamp/counter. Would I eat here again? No. We didn't take pics of our food because we were starving at that point and didn't want to wait any longer. Absolutely fantastic breakfast. I visited on a Wednesday morning and there was no wait. I was greeted quickly and seated. My waitress was very attentive to my needs. I ordered the two eggs plate with 1/2 sausage and 1/2 bacon for my meats, both were very good. It came with two light and fluffy biscuits, gravy that was very tasty along with a bowl of cheese grits. The grits needed salt and butter. The lightly scrambled eggs were real eggs cooked to perfection. I asked about the beignets as I did not see them on the menu. I was told they did have them, so I ordered two to try. They were hot and tasty, more like a thick funnel cake than a traditional beignet. Served with syrup, they were good.
