The restaurant is housed right next to the Edison Hotel, a classy boutique establishment with an amazing airy lobby and a relaxed Zen-like vibe. I picked this restaurant for my friends bday. We left paying around $900 and none of us felt satiated as the portions are incredibly a small. The food wasn't bad, but it also wasn't spectacular either- nothing really special to note. Ardor is exceptional. Granted, it will always hold a special place for me because it happens to be where I took my now wife on our first date years ago. But there is a reason we keep going back again and again: the staff always goes out of its way to make our experience feel special. Since we live in the neighborhood, Ardor is our go-to spot for weekday dinner and weekend brunch. There isn't a bad dish on either menu, but there are some standouts that deserve special mention. My absolute favorite is the octopus, featuring spice-rubbed octopus medallions disguised among cross-sections of hearts of palm. It's probably my favorite seafood appetizer anywhere. My wife loves the faro risotto, and we both regret not trying the milk bread sooner. Brunch is admittedly a bit of a splurge, but it's completely worth it. I am partial to the WeHo Breakfast, which takes typical eggs and toast to the next level -- especially the spicy chicken sausage, with its hard sear and tight snap. My wife is into the frittata no matter what the seasonal variety is. We are both crazy about the fruit mosaic, featuring sliced, seasonal farmers' market fruits, dressed with olive oil and seasoned with what we think is tajin. Oh my my my. This place is SPECIAL - this is romantic, it's expensive, it's delicious, it's gorgeous. I'm not sure there is a more beautiful restaurant in LA, to be honest! Especially if you're looking for an outdoor experience, this is the place. A lot of outdoor spaces are kind of whatever in terms of ambiance, but the patio at Ardor is stunning. The downside is the traffic noise off Sunset which can be pretty darn loud. The food is excellent but be prepared to drop at least 50 a person and that's before drinks. I do think their cocktail prices are outrageously high, but on par with other nice restaurants in the area... which are all outrageously high. Service is stellar and commensurate for how incredibly pricey the restaurant is - which is a relief! It's so awful when the service doesn't match the quality of the place. I would absolutely return, but for me this is a special occasion spot only and the valet is exorbitantly priced at something like 25 bucks because it's with the hotel so do NOT park with the valet unless that doesn't matter to you. read more

I absolutely loved this place. The ambiance is wonderful with the lighting and all the plants inside. The service was a bit slow at some parts however the waiters were sure to keep us up-to-date constantly so we were never left wondering what's going on. I actually told myself that I was going to rate this place 6 out of 5, however the next day I realized how disconnected the food prices are to what you're getting. Some plates I understood, but then others I was very confused. For example, we spent $20 for carrot cake, however the carrot cake was the size of my index finger. Why do they think that's acceptable, I'm not sure. As long as you come knowing you want to feel luxurious/rich and enjoy the ambiance, I think you'll absolutely love this place, but check the photos of food options before going so you get what you want!! read more

A very solid 4 almost 5 stars. The milk bread was great and the drinks were good. The service and vibes were immaculate. 1 star off because the tartare was not good and I felt like I was eating a legit raw hamburger, but the waiter was so awesome he could just read my mind and tell I didn't like it so he brought out a free dessert. Another business dinner with colleagues at Ardor, the Fraser-helmed restaurant at The Edition hotel in West Hollywood. Forewarning: I had just returned from Paris and dining at the L'Oiseau Blanc (Peninsula, see review), so perhaps this is not an entirely unbiased review; however, I was underwhelmed and don't really understand the fuss about this restaurant. Yes, it's vegetable focused, but somehow everything tastes "the same." We had an assortment of dishes - the carrots, asparagus, the mushroom dish (looked as if plated by a child), sweet potato curry, the shrimp (overcooked, we sent them back), the branzino (nothing special), and the desserts (see photo). Also, "shared plates" makes eating very messy, and the food begins to look very unappealing. Everything is surprisingly overcooked as if "mushy", and lacks the vibrancy and freshness of vegetables in their "natural" state. Ordered the Puligny-Montrachet 2020 - too young, and for the exact same price (about $250), we had a bottle of 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé at the Peninsula that was beyond magical. Service was extremely solicitous and kind. Environment is sort of Tulum-like, and I guess that's what millennials prefer? I thought it looked cheap and will be dated in a few years. We had to wait an hour at our table before our server Daniel E finally came up to us after my friend flagged him down for a drink order. Then he disappeared and I literally had to ask him if he was our server because he never introduced himself and kept disappearing (also it was a very slow night at the restaurant). The food was amazing but the service was so bad that I didn't even want to order dessert because the server never came back. Also sad no one wished me a happy birthday at the restaurant. I went to ardor for brunch and had high expectations because I loved the dinner so much, but was a little underwhelmed. Let's start off with service. It was pretty slow and my group was hungry, but for some reason it felt like the server didn't want to take our food order for some reason? Who knows, maybe he wanted us to have a more lax pace of a meal. As for the food, we got the crab pasta, milk bread, onion rings, chilaquiles, French toast, calamari frites, and short rib fried rice. The best were definitely the onion rings and the milk bread, which is interesting because those are only starters. The crab pasta was solid and slightly lemony. French toast was not bad and the short rib fried rice had a mild flavor, with the short rib pretty dry. The chilaquiles was basically tator tots covered in a sauce with an egg on top. I'd definitely skip this one. Overall I would say their brunch did not live up to my expectations compared to their dinner. read more

Went on a dinner for two. ordered the Milk Bread, Hamachi, Shrimp, Onion Rings, Crab Pasta & Steak. Aperol Spritz was good too. Milk Bread: very good brioche bread, but very salty. Hamachi: did not like. Fish quality was good, but the tarragon sauce was not it. Crab Pasta; amazing, very well balanced. Shrimp: amazing, just wish the shrimp were more & smaller than fewer & bigger. They were huge. Polenta was 10/10. Onion rings: just get them. Trust me. Steak: average steak, nothing to write home about but good overall. Service was excellent. They check up on you all the time. Overall, I'd give it a solid 8.5/10. There's a few things I didn't like, but nothing major. Small things like the tarragon & the overly salted everything. Food quality was awful for the price we paid for. Just to say they charge us $36 for plain water which wasn't even sparkling water. This restaurant is located within the EDITION hotel. They ask you to place your entire food order at once so they can course it out for you. Milk bread: "Japanese inspired"; this was probably my favorite appetizer out of the four we had. The exterior is crispy and the flakes of salt add great flavor to it. Raw cauliflower cacio e Pepe: this was one of the server's recommendations. I didn't really feel like it imitated cacio e pepe but the dish is super flavorful; some people could consider it a tad salty. Yellowtail tuna tartare: another waiter's recommendation. super light; not fishy at all. If you are a fish lover though this might not be the best dish for you; I felt like the flavors of the dressing was so strong it almost cut out the taste of the tuna entirely. Alaskan king crab tagliatelle: also chef's Rec; another one of my favorites! There's some crunch to this dish that added amazing texture; I think it was from the breading. It's slightly acidic but I loved the flavor and this was surprisingly light for being a creamy pasta. Filet mignon: the meat was so so tender. Ordered it medium rare and it came perfect!! The mashed potato ball it comes with us laid on top of some umami powder and the potato skins are fried to a crisp (tasted like chips.) One of the waiters (Tyler) was great. He was so polite and attentive; super personable and had amazing service manners (was careful to take away silverware and dishes quietly etc). Hazelnut bar: I thought it was lighter than most hazelnut desserts ; I loved it! There's a wafer like biscuit on the bottom. Mango: we asked for their lightest dessert and this was the one. I made a reservation with Ardor since The Rooftop is not taking any. I usually look at the floor plan before RSVP to notate where I want to be seated, this time I just freestyle. Well, good surprise happened to those who least expecting. A lady at the reception area gave me a walk through of the dining hall, I was so surprised how vibrant, eclectic it was, with cute individual curved booths, ending the roll with a semi private dinning in green. As we walked towards the window, I found my "weng hon" 網紅 table, cutely overlooking outside is their patio. I met with Christophe at Ardor who were so determined to have the most interesting plates and dessert on my table and remembered all dishes must be delivered all at once. The salad came in a tall bowl, Christopher showed me it has a hidden compartment underneath which housed the salad. They asked if I wanted it displayed as being served or as it was before I took a picture. How thoughtful they were. They let me played in the garden for a long while although it was not opened due to the weather. They were thinking about prepping a table at the patio just for me to take pictures. This place came highly recommended by a friend. It's only been open a few months. The service is impeccable. The hostess, bartender, server and the entire staff are very attentive and friendly. I got a drink at the bar while waiting for my friend. I had a cocktail that's reminiscent of a strawberry cocktail. Cost $21. Very tasty and pricey, which is pretty typical for Los Angeles. The bartender gave me lots of recommendations, which was helpful and also made sure my water glass was full as well. For dinner we had a type of bread that was highly recommended; it has beef tomatoes, reminds me of pizza. We also shared onion rings, which were amazing. Seasoned very well and rich. It doesn't come with condiments but you don't need them. I lovedddddd them and it was the best part of my meal. If you love fried food, try them. For my main course I had an appetizer which was king crab with pasta. It had a tangy after taste that didn't taste good to me, but it's more of a personal preference. Overall everything tasted fresh.
