I was in the mood for Mediterranean/Persian food and glad my trusted Yelp App led me to Aria while I was in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked into a spacious cozy restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was seated right away by the hostess. And from there, I enjoyed the service from the super friendly waitresses. I knew exactly what I wanted to eat....Beef and Chicken Combo. My dinner was wonderfully deeelicious...sooo fresssh-n-flavorful. I'll definitely be back to try the other dishes. I highly recommend this hidden gem to the Yelp Community :-)

What a hidden gem! We were craving some good kebabs and found this nearby so decided to come try. We were greeted warmly and sat right away with our server providing lots of recommendations. We decided to start with the Falafel appetizer and lentil soup followed by the beef koobideh and chicken koobideh kebabs which also came with a big salad. Everything was so fresh and delicious- enjoyed the food and service!

A hidden gem for great authentic Persian food! Absolutely love their kabob plate and it's a good portion of food and always consistently taste great. They also have beer and wine, really good traditional and authentic Iranian food and desserts. I've been here with family at least a dozen times and it's always so good! I made this account just to post this review. It was my first time trying Mediterranean food, and I ate everything on that plate. You will never catch me eating a grilled whole tomato or onion but I ate those up too. Whatever they did to it was magic, I ate it with the meat, I ate it with the bread, shit it was yummy just by its self. The meat was tender and literally melts in your mouth. I've never had that happen before. The rice was just yummy and whatever that sauce is, I drank it. I'm not from the area but I crave this place all the time. I have high standards because of this place. I don't want to go anywhere else. I'll see you at my wedding.

This place is really delicious and consistent with what you receive. My friends ordered the gyro plate, a kabob koobideh plate and I got a Greek salad. Portions are really large, definitely large enough to share. My salad was yummy with lots of feta but I thought it could have used more toppings. Service is friendly and attentive. I ordered the combo beef Kubide and chicken $24.99 plus a side of grilled veggies $5.00+ a soda $+ The kubide was short and thinner. The chicken were small and few pieces. The veggies were barely grilled for few under grilled veggies costs me $5+ The price went up but the portion became smaller. That is when I stop going back to places like this. The plate I received and paid for is no where near the pictures posted on Yelp by others portion-wise and not what it was like before. I'm so disappointed and dissatisfied. Total cost of food for one person $45 tip included. I don't mind spending $ if I know I will be satisfied. I don't think I will ever come back and I do not recommend.

The dinners at Aria are so so delicious. The four of us were there last night and my second time. The staff is very attentive and soft music in the background. Very enjoyable time. I had chicken very tender and rice with dates so good. Portions well worth price and ended up with takehome. My wife and friends had the cherry rice that is just incredible. I've been driving by this restaurant for almost 2 years now and wasn't sure if it would be good or not. I finally read reviews and decided to try. We had our first experience with Aria this afternoon. It was clean and welcoming. We got seated immediately and made to feel welcome. Got familiar with the menu. We had a few questions and our server answered them without any issue. Our food started to come. Had an appetizer-- eggplant... DEE-LISH! Beautiful food. Our main meals came and they, too, were DEE-LISH. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We can't wait to bring our family and friends. It's so easy to find. This is a place you should try! Aria Restaurant is lovely inside and the food is fabulous. There are lunch specials, plus an extensive menu. The portions are generous. It looked like there were banquet rooms for special events. It's located just off the 78 and there is plenty of parking. read more

I know Persian food is so delicious but unfortunately my experience in that restaurant wasn't good. The Kabab so far from Kabab !!!! They need to work on it to make it a real on. Also, at any restaurant they should put grilled tomatoes and onions but in this restaurant charged me $5 for one grilled tomato and half onion! Sorry but I want to be honest in my survey to push you up and improve your food. read more

Food was amazing. I like that they have Persian and Indian beer options. All of the food was amazing. We ordered a yogurt dip and three entrees, 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers. Price $135, not cheap, but it's no longer inexpensive to eat out after COVID with inflation being so high right now. read more

My children and I love eating here. The food is delicious and priced so well! I have gone back here so many times after trying it for the first try. I usually end up ordering more hummus because even though it is very garlicky it tastes amazing! Definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try. read more

My wife Tina and I visited the Aria Restaurant in San Marcos for the very first time this evening, and were were absolutely delighted with our experience! This venue immediately gets your attention with its warm and inviting seating area featuring white table cloths covered by glass, a clever idea that resonates rich, sparkling reflections in their interior photographs. The menu is the cuisine of Mediterranean-Persian specialties and it clearly covers all of those bases and even more. The Chicken Kabob delivered generous portions and flavorful morsels of moist and juicy chicken breast with notes of yellow saffron, accompanied by a unique rice blend with plump and especially soft raisins as well as onions infused with tzatziki sauce.....quite tasty indeed! To cap it off, the service was polite, helpful and timely and the restaurant's ambiance included some soft music in the background. The Aria Restaurant is a relaxing and wonderful "Foodies' Choice," and we highly recommend it! It hit every note we wanted to hear! read more

My rating is largely determined by the quality of the food my wife and I experienced at lunch. She had a gyros plate and I had the lamb kabob. The salad was very ordinary, the rice did not have enough saffron, and both the gyros and lamb were very dry. The restaurant seems to be clean and the service was very good. A dinner experience might be totally different but I would avoid having lunch. read more

I recently had lunch at Aria, and was very impressed. Upon entering, I first noticed that they had lovely, soft and low music playing, contrary to many restaurants today, that have loud blasting music, making it hard to talk. The server was very friendly and efficient, and the menu offered numerous choices. My friend and I chose the lentil soup, which was very tasty and plentiful, along with the Greek salad, which was very fresh and tasty. Dinner plate options were pricier, but I will definitely return. read more

The place is clean and well lit but there is the occasional flies that sneak in and are annoying and can bring illnesses when they land in your food. I just wave them away but hope management would put some kind of trap to exterminate them. Besides that I will be coming back. read more

I really don't think they used fillet for kabab because the texture and taste was not there. I am not going back to this restaurant. read more

The food is good but the quality is not always consistent. The service is good. The ambiance is alright with two big flaws. 1) They have a very tiny A/C that is not always on and even If it's on it's always so hot and stuffy in there. They don't open any windows or doors and there is no fan to circulate the air. So it feels like you are eating in a sauna. You don't get to enjoy your food because you can barely breath. 2) Another big flaw is the way the seat customers. They have a big space but insist on seating all their customers in one narrow hallway which makes it hard for servers and customers to move around with ease. Overall it's stuffy and claustrophobic so it makes it hard to enjoy your food, but it is an easy fix and I hope the owners do something about it soon. read more

Excellent food, excellent service, there's probably only three Persian restaurants in San Diego and their fesenjun was outstanding, This is always a test of authentic food and of course the crispy rice and saffron flavoring was found throughout and the salmon kebabs were great read more

Why did I come here?…read more With a hunger for mediterranean and the worry that nearby Aria may be a bit too pricey for a quick meal, I brought my son out to The Pita Guys for some gyro or shawarma. What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

I had a shift at the hospital, and ordered food on DoorDash around 11:53 AM before I had to clock out so by the time I'm all ready to go and in my car I would just have to pick up my food. But no. I got there and the place looked closed and maybe 2-4 minutes in finally someone helps me. I tell the guy my name and the order and he tells me that he didn't make my order because there was no rice. I asked him how long it would take, and he tells me it would take at least HALF AN HOUR. No call or text so I drove there thinking my food was ready but it wasn't? Instead he gave me options for a salad or fries and I just went with the fries. I'm tired and hungry and I didn't want to make a fuss. I don't mean to sound dramatic or anything but I really just wanted my rice bowl ready to go so I can go home.

The bar is no different than the dining room service and I know that is something the restaurant should be mindful of. (Slow and not really scoping out what should be taken care of ie/ customers without drinks and or place settings for appetizers.) It is Important to mention, that we were not the only group seeing and feeling this way. Needless to say, a very HONEST & CLEAR 3.5 stars. Price is familiar to what I see at similar restaurants and the taste of food and drinks delicious. Thank you for providing a pretty place to have enjoyed a meal and drink with a loved one.

5 Stars - Amazing Persian Food! I went to Aria with my boyfriend, who is Persian, and he was so excited to introduce me to real Persian food. Let me just say--WOW. I had the ghormeh sabzi, and it was so freaking good! The flavors were rich, the herbs were fresh, and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I can totally see why this dish is such a big deal in Persian cuisine. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was great. My boyfriend said the food tasted just like home, which is the ultimate compliment. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes! Why did I come here?…read more With a hunger for mediterranean and the worry that nearby Aria may be a bit too pricey for a quick meal, I brought my son out to The Pita Guys for some gyro or shawarma. What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

UPDATE JUNE 30, 2026: You can find this information…read moreonline......During March 27-April 30th, 2026, an outbreak of E-coli was reported on the San Diego news. 9 people were hospitalized, including children. That outbreak resulted in a lawsuit coming from the parents of one of the children who was gravely ill and hospitalized. All people hospitalized had eaten the Beef Kofka (ground beef). The Kabob Shop's supplier, Olympia Foods was blamed. Now do we currently have a June outbreak, only the meat affected is Shaved Lamb-Beef???? Original review: I'm not sure what was going on in this restaurant the night of Friday, June 26, but I had to report a health issue caused by the food shown in my pic from that night. The disgusting smell from this order was so bad, I had to take it out of the kitchen. It literally smelled like dog poop. The dish in question is the Lamb/Beef Plate, which had a pile of meat, accompanied by enough yellow rice to feed many, and a teensey piece of dry pita bread. There also was a missing salad. All I can say is beware because the reviews here are 95% positive, and our past experiences with The Kebab Shops have been good. It could have been just a one-off that night, but it doesn't seem so. Judging by the extensive questioning that DoorDash did when handling my complaint, I just know something more was going on that night to have made me so sick. When you are transferred to DoorDash's Food Safety Department, they're taking your complaint seriously. And investigating it.
