There are several empty tables and no one waiting. The waitress said we have to wait for an hour because they have many take-out orders, so we decide to go somewhere. We walked in and this place was packed, luckily, there was a table for 6 where we were seated right away. After reviewing the menu, this is what we ordered: Chompong, BiBimNaenmyun, Seafood SoonTofu, Yukgaejang, & Cod Stew. Like all Korean restaurants, when you have so many menu offerings; its so hard to decide what to get and also the flavors get mixed up. Favorites: - Yukgaejang - it was better then lot of other places; I would definitely get this dish. - Cod Stew - I'm a favorite of seafood and anything seafood related; they made this dish very well. I would get this again. Semi- Favorite - Chomping - this was supposed to be seafood flavored; but it tasted like yukjaejang broth with noodles and seafood. - Seafood SoonTofu - taste has changed; taste the same as when they were Seoul Korner. Least Favorite - do NOT order: - BiBimNaenmyun - I would never order this. The taste was nothing but hot gochujang, no flavor, no taste... they should re-evaluate this dish and remove it. Normal mom and pop place to eat at. In my opinion, I enjoyed the broth of the Wooguji Galbi Tang but I only got like two pieces of Kalbi so I was a little disappointed with that. It was around 15.99. My sister got the bibimbop, the meat was portioned well, not too much meat and good amount of veggies. It had purple cabbage in it, which I haven't had before but I enjoy purple cabbage and the egg was perfectly runny for the bibimbop. My sisters bf had the chicken katsu and they said it was crunchy and still very juicy, so I trust that was truthful. Then my bf had the bulgogi, it was slightly too sweet for me, but my bf enjoyed it. We also got some starters like the seafood pancake and the spicy rice cakes. The pancake was crispy and seasoned well but I was disappointed in the spicy rice cakes, I felt like the rice cakes were only boiled and had no texture. The spicy sauce was delicious but there just wasn't any texture so I didn't enjoy it as much as I had anticipated. I was expecting it something more crispy with a little bit of sauce on the rice cakes. Just to mention the menu at the restaurant didn't have the description like the online menu so I had to go on what they said it would be like. Really good Korean food! I'm pretty picky about how my food tastes, but the food was super flavorful without being overly salty, and the kimchi was soooooo good. I ordered the squid stone bowl as it was recommended, and it did not disappoint! Also their pancake appetizer is made of rice flour so good for gluten-free people! You can tell a lot of time and effort goes into their food. This is a small family business and the girl that works there all the time is so nice, cute AF, and provides good service. It gets pretty busy during lunch/dinner times & they can definitely fit a pretty large party (probably need to call ahead of time for that). FYI they don't serve alcohol. read more

Theres one server who seemed tired from taking orders, but that's no biggie I completely understand as that she was the only server working from what it looked like. The food was amazing, I normally don't eat Korean food, so I cant compare it on a authentic level, but it was quite delicious. Arrived at 7:16 pm on a Saturday and received food at 8:25... After two tables near us arrived afterward and had their food served before us. When I addressed this with the waitress (who was nice!), she shared that there was a lot of backup in the kitchen for to-go orders. I would buy this, however, those two tables recieved their food before us... after arriving later than us. We ordered two entrees and an appetizer when we arrived. I went to chat with someone at the counter or find a waitress, and I heard one waitress say "wait, that order is for a takeout" "But, they've been waiting for a long time!" "Ah, okay fine"--regarding our appetizer. So, it appears no one was concerned with our hour long wait for just an appetizer until I brought it up to the waitstaff. I hope this was just an abnormal experience, but I was very disappointed with management only offering 10% only after I requested for something to be compensated. I also requested to talk to the manager or owner, but was waved off. In the end, a waitress took off the appetizer. I'm very disappointed with this holistic experience. I'm also disappointed, as someone who grew up on Korean food, that they chose to put lettuce in the dolsot bibimbap as a replacement for the typical spinach sauté. I've only had takeout from here, but I've gotten it several times and I really enjoyed the flavor, freshness, and portion-per-dollar value. Good bibimbap, good tofu, good banchan. I asked for extra gochujang and they happily accommodated. My carnivorous friend has tried a few different options and loved them all - and he had never eaten Korean food before we ordered out from here. We ordered the seafood pancake as an appetizer and the bulgogi and kalbi combo, the wooguji galbi tang (spicy beef soup), chicken Katsu. Let's get the elephant out of the room first... I know some of you might be concerned about their storage of their silverware in a cute little box encouraging people to touch other's dining wares. Since it's the COVID-19 season and my first time back... I saw them still doing it, I had a conversation with the staff about my concerns and scaring people away. It sounded like I'm the first to bring this up... And they agreed to comply with my demands right away to doing it the old way of bringing individually wrapped silverware. Why did I do this? 1) I think it's not right to just come online and complain without talking to them and tarnishing their reputations without giving them a chance to resolve it. 2) I absolutely love their food. I've been a regular my whole 8yrs in Ann Arbor and I think they hand the best Korean bbq in the area... The meat is not soggy and fatty but lean and good in texture. Great place to get your money's worth! I strongly recommend the squid stonebowl, its the perfect amount of sweet and spicy with a generous portion of squid laid on a bed of lettuce and rice. Not only is the squid stonebowl a show stealer, but the seafood pancake appetizer is the best opener. Crunchy and chewy, the perfect juxtaposition. If you're looking to have broth as a meal, I would also suggest to order the budaejigae (WAY better than Seoul garden). I'm a total regular and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Good Korean food right in Ann Arbor. I was in Ann Arbor and stopped by for lunch based on the Yelp reviews. This is an authentic Korean restaurant that serves good food. I had the Kalbi box lunch and it was great. Portion sizes were excellent also. We also had bibimbap and chicken katsu which were all very good and satisfying. Arirang is my go-to Korean spot in Ann Arbor. It's a fantastic little hole-in-the-wall spot hidden in a strip mall just off Ann Arbor-Saline road. The space is intimate without being overly cramped, and the service has always been pleasant. Even the music (soft rock) is enjoyable. I primarily review for the food, however, and that's clearly the star here. The Spicy Rice Cakes are a Korean staple and surprisingly aren't offered at least one other popular restaurant in town. Here, they are delectable and are the primary reason I keep coming back. The Dolsot Bibimbap is a tremendous value, packed with fresh veggies and enough meat and rice to get two meals out of it (especially when you factor in the included banchan snacks). Overall, this is a great place to grab a tasty, reasonably priced dinner with plenty of leftovers to spare. This is one of the best places to get bibimbap in Ann Arbor! They serve the bibimbap in a stone bowl which means that the rice becomes crunchy the longer it sits in the bowl (this is highly desirable in my opinion). Best Korean food around Ann Arbor - which sadly isn't saying much but this is where I come when I need Korean food but don't feel like cooking at home. I'm Korean and I have been to every single Korean place in greater Ann Arbor area and almost all Asian or Asian-y restaurants and Arirang gets #1 for the most legit Korean place. Keep in mind Michigan is NOT your destination for best Asian food. My rating is strictly based on Ann Arbor/Michigan standards. I've tried most of their dishes on the menu - quite standard in both variety and price - Pictured pan-fried spicy pork("Jehyook Bokkum") is $12.95. They could step up in their banchan(Korean side dishes that come with your food) game, but this doesn't bother me much. Some dishes may be on the sweeter side for some but nothing I've had ever tasted off. If you will be dining in, service can be quite slow as other reviewers have pointed out. Family owned, servers are nice, clean, good food. Can't ask for much more. They are still open during COVID19 so we just got takeout today and ate in our car. read more

I heard from a Korean lady that this is the most authentic Korean food around. If authentic means comparable to the restaurants in Korea Town back in California, then I have to agree. The banchan is not bad. They ran out of the little fishes the last time I came though, which was disappointing. They probably have the best tofu soups in Ann Arbor. I got the fried pork with a tangy sauce (tang soo yeok) which was all right. I have never been a big fan of this dish, but I ordered it since my friends here had never tried it before. It was pretty legit. I consider it sort of a litmus test, since not a lot of places offer it/make it right. FYI it's not a thickly breaded and fried pork drenched in sauce that you'd get at a Chinese restaurant, so don't expect that. It's more like small chewy pieces of pork in a light batter, and that's the way it's supposed to be. The staff is nice! read more

We came here for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived around 12:30 pm and it was still pretty tame. Most of the workers speak Korean but their menu makes it easy for us non-Korean speakers to order. Bowl1 or Bowl 2. Soup 1 or soup 2. They have a bunch of authentic items, not just your typical items. Like all other Korean restaurants they had some pretty tasty banchan. We had to ask for another round. Overall, you get a good amount of food and it was pretty tasty. The workers aren't super nice - just neutral. By 1pm, there will be a line. Bathrooms in the back. When we walked in through the door, it took about 5 minutes for them to notice us and sit us down. This seemed long to us because only 3 tables had customers. The table they sat us at was sticky as if it hasn't been wiped down the entire day. The ceiling was also leaky, but an attentive server sat us down at another table afterwards, which was still sticky, but at least I would not have any ceiling water droplets on my food. The menu came out, and prices were a little bit more expensive than the Korean restaurants on Central Campus. I ordered the bibimbap and the portion was significantly less as well. I liked the appetizer though, and have never seen those at other korean restaurants. Besides kimchee, they gave this egg-mashed potatoes thing which was amazingly delicious! They also gave other appetizers too, but I was too focused on the mashed potatoes. this is a hidden gem for korean food in ann arbor! stopped by after a grueling exam and i am so happy i did arirang is like the korean comfort food kingdom! i got the jjajangmyun(black bean noodles), tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and soondae (pig blood sausage) ! i definitely ordered way too much food for just me, oops! anyways, food quality was great! soondae is a very difficult korean dish to find in many places in the US (trust me, ive tried). its a popular street food in korea so id highly recommend giving it a try as for the service, it was great! i was immediately greeted and directed toward my seat. if you think its odd that you don't have utensils at your table, be warned this is a typical korean restaurant setup where you grab them from the container at your table! both ladies were super sweet and were very attentive to me making sure that i had a good meal and thay i left comfortably with all my leftover goodies Can't wait to be back again! read more

The second time the service was even worse (which I didn't think was possible) I have never been someplace where I felt so unwelcome and bothersome to the waitstaff. Won't be back.
