Been here twice with long lengths between visits but had the same experience both times. The service is good, the prices are good, the gyro is very good, the TVs are still the old CRTV kind which is sort of a great conversation piece for mid 30 something and up people to talk about "Member' b&w TV? Can only speak to the breakfast buffet but it was awesome. Solid food at a bargain price, the buffet features the usual staples one would expect. They have an omelette station which I did not partake in. Bacon was great and cooked to super crispy perfection. Mmmmmm, bacon. The biscuits and gravy however were pretty unremarkable and the gravy lacked flavor. They also have an array of desserts and fresh fruit. My co worker and I stopped by Ari's for our lunch break. When you walk in the place is so cute and quaint. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted. There are sooooooo many options on the menu that it was hard to decided. I settled for the chicken kabob entree which was very good. It had flavor and the chicken was cooked just right. I've been to Greece and the sangria reminded me of the drinks I had when I visited it the country. I can't remember what the liquor is called, but it's popular in Greece and tastes like black licorice. Our waitress/bartender (I can't remember her name) was very sweet. Ari's has among the best Greek cuisine in this city! The dolmades are so fresh, the pastitsio and moussaka are both so full of flavor, and the saganaki has a nice crunchy exterior. There's two options for the gyro: regular and large. By regular, I mean you get a decently sized gyro topped with all the traditional fixings and a side. Oh, you're very hungry!? No problem. Order the gyro plate. It's like two gyros there's so much. It's served with pita triangles and a mountain of gyro-goodness piled in the center. Breakfast/Brunch, they've got that covered, too! The spread covers several meat options, herbed red potatoes, biscuits and gravy, eggs with and without cheese, French toast, fresh fruit salad, pastries, and an inlet station. This is my favorite place in STL for dinner. Brunch is a buffet with eggs, bacon , biscuits , sausages and the usual. They also have an omelet station. Think "hotel breakfast" only better and hot. This is the worst Greek food I ever had. The food was totally grotesque. I ordered the Greek combo, which was casserole dishes that were cooked several days ago, heated in a microwave and served. The The broccoli was rancid but pushed by the staff. The garlic mash potatoes were instant potatoes and wasn't heated thoroughly, but was freezing cold. All for the fine price of $20.00. Of course, after complaining and giving them a second chance to serve me a proper meal, which was worst, they charged me for the side salad and ice tea, despite the main course being terrible. I will never eat there again, and recommend no one else do either, unless you desire a bad case of food poisoning and a trip to the ER. read more

I placed an order though grub hub but unfortunately grub hub didn't have drivers available and cancelled the order. The lady answering the phone at the restaurant was very friendly and was able to place my order over the phone for pickup instead and expedited the order as my friends were there waiting to pick it up. She apologized for the mixup even though it wasn't the restaurants fault it was on Grubhub. I would recommend ordering direct from them instead of paying delivery fees to a third party and having delivery issues. read more

I was craving a gyro salad so we stopped in for lunch and I can't wait to go back! I had the Ari's gyro salad and it was delicious. Fresh ingredients and the hands down some of the best gyro meat (beef/lamb) I've had. My friend got the salmon and it was amazing as well. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, phenomenal sides. I don't review things, but I came here once a year-ish ago specifically because they had taramasalata on the menu. They didn't actually have it because no Greek restaurant carried it anymore due to a shortage of the fish eggs used in this dish. My wife and I decided to just stay anyway, and the meal was not good. We recently decided to call to see if maybe the taramasalata was back on the menu. We were so excited to see it was, so I picked some up and brought it back to our huge disappointment. Taramasalata is supposed to be a fish egg, bread, olive oil based spread kind of resembling hummus. This was $12 tartar sauce. Why put it back on the menu just to be expensive false advertising? Lousy! If I could give no stars, I would. Ordered the $30 lamb shank, and when it came out, it looked as if someone else had eaten part of it. Told the waitress, and maybe the owner came out and lamented that basically that is the only shanks he could get, ones with no meat. Unbelievable! He actually said that! Still, he doesn't take them off the menu or adjust the price. Said he would do "something" to our check. When the check arrived, all he did was initially take off FIVE DOLLARS! Wow! Went in, and after a "discussion" and "negotiating" the cheap Dude took it off the check. Not the place to go for good customer service or even a good dining experience. Extremely slow, and the other prices are high. If you want Moussaka, as an appetizer, you have to buy the whole meal. Bottles of wine are expensive, and the list is outdated. Ordered a bottle that wasn't available, and instead of bringing the list back, some other Dude brings out another bottle. That was our fault, but the service was so slow, we took his choice, a 6 year old red that wasn't very good. The "pan fried Grouper" did not look like Grouper, since it was really thin/flat and appeared not to have been "pan fried". Diners beware. I am never going back! read more

Love coming here. This place is a staple for me when I am in the mood for calamari. To date they have the best i have tasted. I think its the batter..not sure and I dont care, I just know I like the stuff!! Love their burgers and fries. Frozen steak fries yea, but their good! It melted in my mouth which is normally a good thing, but this was more like a-solid shortening that you put on your tongue and it melts-melt in ya mouth. Not a fan. The gyro here is a very good value for money. The gyro is excellent, and is in my top five. The service is ok here, and the food comes out relatively quickly. You can also get the gyro open faced with olives and feta cheese on top. Update: the gyro plate here is even better than I remember it, and the quality of the pita is outstanding! The prices are a bit higher but the quality is well worth the price increase. This place is a very authentic Greek restaurant with very high quality. They also appear to have addressed the slow service, as that was the reason I previously gave it 4 stars. We've been to Ari's twice, and we love it. If you can eat outside, do it. The plants around the patio are beautiful and make for a nice setting. On this past visit, we were inside out of the rain. :) Each time, I have ordered the Greek platter (moussaka, pastitsio, and dolmathes -- along with 2 sides). Always great. I had their Greek soup that is on the menu (can't remember the name -- sorry!) as one of my sides, and it was great. The Greek potatoes aren't bad, but aren't my favorite. My husband gets the gyro plate and loves them. My kids have ordered things like a bacon cheeseburger (loved it), toasted ravioli, dolmathes, and gyros. They are always happy with what they get as well. My husband asked about beer on this visit and decided to try the Greek beer they carry...it was yummy! read more

We stopped in for a family Sunday brunch. We were directed to their buffet instead of a menu to order things. After looking through the buffet, we noticed the food was old and most of it wasn't even temp monitored. The biscuits were so hard that you couldn't even cut them without using actual force and a knife. Upon deciding we weren't going to eat the food, and we just wanted to go somewhere else, we were given a bill of $80 and when asked why we were being charged that for 2 young children and 2 adults who only drank their sodas, the "boss" said she would take $7 off, but that was it because "if you don't have it in your budget, you shouldn't go out to eat" and "we have employees to pay". Mind blowing that a person running a restaurant would speak to their customers like that. She continued to argue that we couldn't afford to go out to eat and there was nothing wrong with our dining experience. That alone was a problem. After leaving and reading other reviews, this is a common issue with this establishment. Honest opinion, you'd be better off just getting your breakfast from a gas station and saving your money. I personally wouldn't feed what they're serving to the starving people on the street. And their service is extremely offensive. read more

We made it back to Ari's on a Sunday with or friends the B's. We had been to the Botanical Gardens and intended to go for the breakfast buffet. We looked it over and for some reason decided it was not what we wanted so reverted to the menu. Ari's is a 3-1/2 star place for us. We have had good gyros and salads on previous visits. This time the B's ordered Souvlaki and the Greek Salad. They liked the food and the place very much and have mentioned going back. Ms T and I broke away from the Greek thing and had very good Grouper Sandwiches. They were lightly coated and seasoned just right. This was a nice lighter meal. Ari's is a bit of a hike for us. If we want a gyro on a moment's notice, we are going to Med Grill in the Valley. But for lunch after Member Morning at the Art Museum or other events that take us into the Hampton area, it is on our go-to list. They have a solid Greek menu plus American. read more

Ordered takeout. Went to pick up the food to find out they let someone leave with it. It was requested to present receipt. We showed them the email for the online order. We were then told that their delivery driver took the food to deliver, but we ordered it as takeout. The food never showed up at my house. We waited at the restaurant to see if the driver would show up at the house. They did not even have address, but the restaurant insisted that it was being delivered. When they never showed up they remade our food, but wasted our time. The girl at the restaurant had a terrible attitude and was extremely rude. I will never order, or eat here again. We bought an entertainment book from our son and this place had an online coupon in there. When I presented it to the waitresss she said she couldn't accept it. We read the fine print and there were no restrictions. When I questioned why she couldn't accept it she became very rude and insulting. She must be a relative of the owner. This is a nice spot, and they have a patio/outside area too. I got the Ari's famous gyro with the hummus and pita and it was delicious. They had the perfect amount of meat and veggies to make it filling while still allowing you to eat the gyro without making a massive mess. The hummus was very good, you could tell it was fresh. I used to love this place. However, like so many restaurants these days, something isn't quite right. First of all, the prices have gone up significantly. I know prices are going up all over, but $13 for the Gryo Plate is a bit steep. Even worse, they charged $2.50 for a 12 oz. can of diet Pepsi!!! But that's not all, the food was only mediocre. This is the second favorite restaurant of mine that seems to have gone downhill. I know labor is becoming difficult to find and the cost of wholesale foods is going up, but I was rather disappointed. Expensive, Poor Customer Service, Not a good Value. I ordered from this restaurant on Skip the Dishes. I was hoping to get a great new restaurant to order great food from. I requested extra tzatziki Sause as I like to dip my fries that I ordered in. I also ordered a Greek Salad and I wanted some Tzatziki Sauce on that Also. Our total bill with other Items was $45.00. The restaurant wanted an additional $5.00 for the extra sauce even though we had spent $45.00 already. Ridiculous. Poor Customer Service. read more
