I LIKE Armon's I don't really think it is as special as some people here make it seem. I enjoy it because of its significance rather than its actual quality. I love that its a mom and pop kind of place and that it is a local business. But I have to say none of its food is amazing. I would stay away from ANYTHING Mexican. I ordered Huevos Rancheros one time and ended up with a fried egg and tomato pace. They served it with steamed rice and beans; I wouldn't doubt that they came from a can. Other items on the menu, typical American food, is what I stick to now. I've had their pigs in a blanket, breakfast bagel, and various breakfast platters . . . all of which are done nicely . . . and are reasonably priced. read more

This is our go-to greasy spoon diner of choice. Nothing fancy, bottomless coffee, breakfast all day. If you're looking for a hip diner spot with menu items that contain the word "heirloom", go up the street to Cindy's. The place actually gets packed sometimes, especially on weekends around brunch, but the wait time has never been bad enough to send us somewhere else. How can I get a veggie omelet with velveeta cheese and a coffee and walk out paying 13.50 with tip? It wasn't the overpriced fruit upgrade(around 50 cents) or the biscuit for 30 cents. Its nice to get up in the morning, hop on your bike and fly down Colorado to get a good breakfast. The parking doesn't seem too bad. The place is always hopping with locals. Huge disappointment! Not only were the "ladies" not attentive to our order, which sat under the heat lamp a good 10 mins, but failed to even apologize. After a 25 mins. wait for our order that's the least we expected. And yes it was somewhat busy but WTF? We sat in a booth in fron of the kitchen so we saw orders come & go. Probably not the best breakfast spot in Los Angeles. Am I a fan? Definitely so since I've been here more than 10 times. I give 4 out of 5 for their convenience, decent food, and homely/friendly atmosphere. Although it may not be the best breakfast spot but this place is convenient for my morning fix. I live right by Auntie Em's and Pat and Lorraine's but I am a fan of Armon's for a weekend breakfast meal. I love that they offer old-fashion American diner food along side with Mexican- and Asian-inspired dishes. Where else can you order corned beef hash with white rice or fried rice? My boyfriend and I love that when you ask for hot sauce, they offer about 5-6 varieties (Tabasco, Tapatio, Sriracha, etc.) as well as fresh Thai chili slices in fish sauce. Armon's is slowly becoming a cherished tradition that takes place Friday mornings, every other week, when I am free from my working obligations, and have attended an early morning kettle bell workout. By the end of it, I could eat a dragon's ass, so if I say the food is delicious, is that true? I believe it is. The atmosphere is mellow at 7am, as it seems to be a pretty well-kept Eagle Rock secret, tucked away like a regular store front, but in-fact it is a diner! I haven't met the regulars, but I see them seated along the counter, and as is generally the practice of a regular, they fondly rehash the past with embellishments of their choice... and who's immune to the soft glow of events already vanquished? The walls are lined with booths, and there are televisions to watch if you're so inclined. Their coffee is not like sex in a canoe (fucking close to water), instead, it is robust and flavorful, and it keeps on coming, what? The menu is a fairly typical diner menu, but of a finer order, with fresher ingredients and better flavors than an ihop or a denny's, and yet similar prices. I get the same spinach, avocado, green onion and cheese omelet each time, because it has several of my favorite things in it, and since it hasn't broken down yet, I'm not fixing it. The eggs are perfectly cooked, and as I said before, the ingredients are colorful and flavorful. I haven't quite figured what cheese they use in this particular omelet, but it is sliced, and white, and it texturally complements the dish with its hot, oily gooeyness. The omelets are made with three eggs, so they're substantial after a good workout, and you have your choice of hash browns, fruit or refried beans (probably other things too). Just had a late breakfast there this morning. This place definitely puts Denny's to shame. Nice, cozy atmosphere, friendly waitresses, and prompt service. Can't ask for much more than that. I had a denver omelet w/ home fries. It wasn't great, but it was definitely better than average and completely satisfying. Ugh! Breakfast great, but the place was very crowded & understaffed around 1130a this morning. The two servers were running around quick, so there was really no time to ask questions. I just got the diced ham-egg breakfast special for $6.95. To the cook's credit, it came out quick, and it was piping hot. Problem was...when I gave the server at the counter my credit card, she said there was a $10 minimum to use it!!! Funny, I don't remember that happening in the rare occasion I've been to Arnon's (maybe I just had the cash). Anyways, I said there was no sign about it. She then said it was in the menu, and slid one on the counter next to me. It was on the bottom in small print. I said, "fine, I'll order something else, but there really should also be a sign on the wall so I can know to bring cash." She just said everybody sees it in the menu. But I then pointed out that The problem is .....I just looked at the special board to order and NOT the menu! Then she told me she gets less money if a credit card is used ("You don't lose, but WE lose." So I just added on a dude Avocado dish to go for $2.95. Was our first time at Armon's and we loved it! Has a truly authentic diner feel, with warm and helpful wait staff and simple coffee and breakfast done well. We both loved the chicken fried steak. My favorite breakfast spot around the eagle rock area. The menu is loaded with a lot of stuff and pretty much any breakfast item you can think of. I've tried a variety of items like their omelettes, corn beef hash, french toast and such but my absolute favorite is their banana pancakes. You can taste banana with every bite and it's just delicious. Also the two women that work their are really sweet and easy to talk to. I've had full on conversations with them about school and such. It's a really homey place which I like. A little random but I just thought I'd mention it. I came here recently with a friend around 9am and she was craving a chocolate milkshake. We live in the area and are always trying out different places for breakfast on the weekend to mix it up, but nothing compares to our mainstay, Armon's! The breakfast is consistent, yummy, and inexpensive. I usually get some kind of omelette and my husband gets the corn beef hash. The food comes out relatively quickly, and tastes fresh. Every time. They love to fill up your coffee, so if you are not careful, you could be awake for days! :) That's it; pretty simple. The only drawback is parking can be tricky. What is there not to like about this place? The ladies behind the counter are always so nice. One even slapped my stomach after breakfast once and told me I was so skinny. Uhhh... did you not just see that I ate that whole bacon waffle? Oh, yes. Of course, let me introduce you to... The Bacon Waffle. Maybe this is something people have heard of before, but I sure hadn't. See, a few years ago, I was one of those vegetarians who grimmaced at the sight of meat. And a long time before that, I claimed I didn't like to eat. So forgive me if the Bacon Waffle was a staple of American eatery. I think I ordered this thinking it would be a waffle with sprinkled bacon on top, kind of like a bacon donut, but it's on a whole different level. It's a very thin and crispy waffle that has pieces of bacon INSIDE of the waffle. I don't know if they put bacon in the batter, or put some batter and a layer of bacon and then another layer of batter on the waffle maker... but it's oh my god so good. I drizzle some maple syrup on top because... well, I don't like dry waffles... The taste of the sweet mapley waffle with the saltyness of the bacon is absolutely delicious. I love it. I've ordered it a couple of times, and I've ordered some of their other dishes. Their food is good and simple. I know they have some asian options that I should probably taste, but I'm set on that bacon waffle. I definitely leave feeling stuffed and feeling like I should probably eat nothing but spinach and celery for the rest of the week to treat my heart to something a little less ... deadly, but hey, you only live once, right? read more

Great diner for breakfast comfort food. If you are looking for a well made breakfast of eggs and potatoes then this is the spot. I have been coming here on the weekends when I am feeling too lazy to cook for myself (which is often). I have tried their international omelet , their chicken fried steak, their pancakes and their waffles on separate occasions. The omelet is hands down my favorite. The pancakes are good but the waffles are a bit thin, flat and not very fluffy. Their chicken fried steak is probably my least favorite as it tastes like it is a premade and frozen patty. So I would recommend any of the egg and omelet dishes and pancakes. Everything that they make in house though is very good and I would recommend this place to friends if they are looking for some good comfort food at very good prices. read more

Very impressed! Was not expecting such good food and service. I got the chicken fried steak(one of the best ive had and its under $10!) ALso had the corn beef hash. Super crunchy and tasty. Their toast is super good as well. Service is great and seems like a Vietnamese family owned diner. Only bad part is the parking. THere are street parking but its meter. $1 an hour, max 2 hrs. I have been there a few times. The food and service have always been strong, but nothing remarkable. I would generally give them four stars, but they lost one for my experience today. I went in today hoping to get a simple breakfast. The problem is they have a $10 minimum for using a credit card. I didn't want to spend $10 and I only had $7 on me. I left and went to Abby's instead. I know credit card fees are a pain, but why turn away customers? It's hard to find a breakfast place that lacks pretension and serves delicious comfort food in Los Angeles. This place is old school and attracts the locals, myself included. So if you are into the above then this is the place for you. It's delicious and feels like home. The wood paneled walls with frosted glass windows, and the burnt orange counter chairs are truly from the 60's. It's a dive. A beautiful dive. I recommend their omelettes. Nothing special about this place -- just another typical diner w/ a few Asian dishes on the menu. The food was decent. My over-medium eggs came out BARELY over-easy, as the yolk was super runny.
