Friday AM, it seems the locals started their weekend brunch early. It's packed with lots of people chatting enjoying their food and company. Had the 2 poached eggs on rye. Great deal for less than $5. Had a side of salsa to dress it. Good stuff. Down side: $10 minimum to pay with card. This is my favorite hole in a wall breakfast spot in my town!!! I come here when I need to have a one on one with a friend... sumthin about the place and the food that is comforting. The "ladies" are extremely nice and always remember me when I come in, granted I don't go there too often. I always order the spinach, green onion and avocado omelet then pour a heaping amount of their house salsa on top!! DEELISH!! Had an omlette with spinch and avocado and it wasn't that good because it seems like they made it "asian style." What I mean is, the omelette came out all browned, overcooked, and looks like they mixed all the ingredients with the eggs, beat it in a bowl, then made it. American style omlette shoud nto be cooked till its brown and over done. Also should be more soft but the Thai Tea was good. read more

came back again and this time I had the steak and eggs with hashbrowns and hubs had the bacon and eggs with hashbrowns along with a full stack of pancakes. both plates came with toast and I had the coffee once more. I really need to find out where they source their coffee from.... their coffee is sooooo good here! plus they keep it freely flowing - your cup is never empty! for my tastebuds, the hashbrowns were much better that the home fries I got during the last visit. light and crisp on the outside and soft inside. BOMB with tabasco and ketchup. steak was done med well and my eggs were as I ordered - over med. hubs said the pancakes were really good - light and fluffy and HUGE! the rest of his breakfast must have been good as well - it was demolished. one thing I have to mention - the eggs here are phenomenal. I said that in my last review and I will repeat myself. the eggs here are GREAT. scrambled light fluffy and still creamy with the perfect texture and color. over med had my yolks everywhere and my whites firm. yes! finally! wet whites make me gag. ewww... Armand's isn't in the phone book OR on Google! The address that I typed in is the address of "Twerp's" next door. So... if someone goes there, please take a business card and change the info when you review? =) Anyway, This is one of those tiny little local spots that's been around the hood for a while and serves breakfast type foods. I never knew this place was Thai, must have missed the Asian fare on the menu was too distracted at how good the corned beef hash was...reminded me of my Filipino friend's mother's corned beef hash...I was 16 and it was my first corned beef hash for breakfast ever...savory and with more corned beef than potatoes. I've learned through experience that the only times I have enjoyed corned beef or spam is when a Filipino or Asian person prepares it. This place is like an Asian dive diner. Why are some reviewers so outraged at the Asian fare for breakfast at someone else's table? You do realize that some people in other parts of the world do eat noodles or soup or rice for breakfast, right? Some pho places in the SGV are open at 10 am for a reason. It's like how menudo isn't cool until it gets gentrified like what y'all did with chilaquiles which is basically a budget comfort breakfast and way to use up stale tortillas and somehow got glorified into an exciting ethnic cal-mex overpriced brunch thing. Maybe not until fried rice appears on a menu at Squirl where you're charged $9 for jam and ricotta on a slice of brioche you could have simply prepared (not even cooked, unless you wanna make brioche from scratch more power to you...prepared i.e. put together/no-cook brunch) at home will it be acceptable. I guess Eagle Rock is like "East Silverlake" and everything needs to be gentrified to oblivious satisfaction. If you never knew people can have other items on a breakfast menu that aren't at Denny's, perhaps you should travel more, mentally or literally. You have college kids eating cold pizza for breakfast or drunkards eating the goppiest mush from a food truck at 3 am but omg Asian breakfast, at an Asian owned small business, what an outrage! You live in the La La Land of the most ridiculous Asian fusion ideas/restaurants (most of which are horrible and tacky) and you find Asian fare on their menu outrageous? Calm down. Fried rice for breakfast has all the components a sausage egg and biscuit would (protein, carbs) if not probably with less saturated fat and a bit more fiber with some veggies in it. Just admit it's outrageous because you're culturally closed-minded and lack critical thinking skills. I am infamously not a breakfast or morning person. But if I had to choose like a breakfast place to go to sit down and eat that's super breakfast-y (none of that brunch and lunch and dinner menu), it would probably be here. And if I eat breakfast it's not sausage and eggs I can make at home for a tenth of the price. Not sure why I don't make my own corned beef and hash tbh not sure I've perfected my own recipe since I never attempted it (why am I so scared to commit to buying corned beef or spam to experiment idk) but it's something I have eaten like 2-6 times a year at most. Everything else about the diner like the coffee, eggs, sausages (tried a friend's) etc is what you'd expect of a diner, solid. I didn't notice it was dirty or anything outside of what I would expect of a diner...if you prefer a breakfast that's a bit more exciting and less bland than like a Coco's or Denny's, this place is excellent if you're in the area. I mean honestly this place does breakfast the way an Asian person would, tactfully (unlike a sushiritto - y'all sushiritto fans nasty as far as fusion foods go) and I find it comforting because I never liked full on American breakfast diners taste wise. The food takes just as long as a Coco's I've regrettably gone to, to come out. I guess that's what I really mean when I say I'm not a breakfast person. Tried this place twice for take out. The workers are nice and friendly and food is decent, but nothing special. Most of the food is stuff you can make at home for a fraction of the price and probably with better ingredients but I come here for the convenience and also because I was in the area and needed some food to take home. I had corn beef hash, fried rice and pork chops. Corn beef hash and fried rice were as one would expect however pork chops were not good. They put some weird breading on it and it was super soggy; meat was also tough. I'd prob come back if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

I've been eating here regularly for a few years. The food is standard diner fare. The Thai options are great and brings a unique twist to the restaurant. What brings me back is the fact that I live so close to this place, but otherwise there's nothing spectacular about it. If you care about how nice a place looks, you're better off going to Cindy's, but the service is usually better here. Armon's is a little pricey for the quality of the dining experience, but maybe they're trying to be competitive with the other restaurants in the neighborhood. It would be nice to see them renovate because they look outdated and not in a charming way. The most standout things I've eaten here are the vegetable soup, Dr. Special, and Tom Yum. read more

First time here. I love the old school feel. It reminds me of some of the great diners of the past, that are no longer around. The service was excellent. She even asks our names. That's the way a diner should be. The food was excellent. I had the spinach, avocado, green onion omelette. It was great. The hash browns were bagged but cook correctly. I liked them. I love diners! And I would give this one a five plus! It's an older diner but it is clean and well maintained even the restrooms were very clean. The customer service was fantastic, its kid friendly and the food was very very good! the veggie omelet with the home made salsa and blueberry pancakes were amazing! read more

Super friendly staff at a straight forward American style breakfast diner (with some international flair optional). We ate here with two one-year old babies and weren't treated like a nuisance, which is nice for a change. They even made a plain pancake and one scrambled egg for the babies to share. Authentic decor (i.e. not remodeled since the '60's) adds to the classic breakfast experience. Oh, and the prices are still fair breakfast prices .... will have to return and try out their lunch menu one day soon. When into one before stop at Armon's and it stopped serving breakfast at 11 am the was very pricey and to Hippster for me. These 5 stars are dedicated to the chicken fried steak, the chefs, and the good people of Armon's. It's all I've ever ordered from here, except for one unfaithful morning when it wasn't available to order so I had to settle for corned beef hash. But all the other times I've never been disappointed by the quality of their chicken fried steak, nor their poached eggs which is so bomb to break the runny yolk on top of the steak. The chefs really know what they're doing, so well in fact that this past time I ordered it I was able to eat the entire steak with a spoon! That's how tender it was, no knife necessary. That's how it's supposed to be. Crispy with gravy that doesn't overpower the dish, just right. read more

This could probably be one of my favorite diners I have ever been to! It's a cute diner with great food! I was walking around Eagle Rock and bumped into this lovely place and thought of checking it out. Thankfully it was not busy and I was able to get a seat. The service is great and the waitresses are really nice people. Also their food is amazzzinggg ! I got their pancakes , sausages and cottage cheese and the pancakes were so fluffy and buttery just the way I like them. The sausages were pretty good too! The food has this homestyle taste I may say. I came back again the week after and ordered their corned beef hash which Was also pretty tasty! Armon's is a lovely little gem in Eagle Rock and it was the nicest restaurant I've discovered haha. read more

This review will hopefully offset the ridiculous review by Ted R. who according to most of his reviews is hard to please. I've been coming to Armon's for a couple of decades and the food is good, not the best I've ever eaten but to describe it as horrible is silly as most of the reviews show that most people agree with me. The service is fine. The place isn't fancy but so what, fancy usually means higher prices with no guarantee that the food or service will be any better. My favorite dish besides breakfast is the shrimp fried rice (I usually have chicken added) to me it's as good if not better than I've ever tasted. There is metered parking in the street and there is also a metered parking lot in the back. They take credit cards as well as cash. read more

Good diner style breakfast, a bit of a "greasy spoon" so to speak but had the comfort food we were looking for. The place was very busy and service was ok but not particularly friendly. It was very good for a late breakfast and close to the hotel where we were staying and due to a wedding reception that continued late into the night, we had missed the breakfast buffet hours. read more

I don't know why no one is saying the best part about this diner, which is the mix of Asian and Mexican influences on the traditional "American" breakfast. This place makes me so happy because it represents everything great about L.A. (the real L.A., not the soulless, Hollywood L.A. that transplants always complain about). If I feel like a fried egg over white rice, boom, I can have it. If I want my fried egg with salsa and tortillas, boom, I can have it. Or if I want my egg with delicious hash brown and a side of bacon, well, boom, I can have that too. And it is all delicious. I'm a sucker for diner food--I grew up on the San Gabriel Norm's, and I'm still mourning its closing--and this place has everything that makes a diner great. Sometimes the only place I want to eat breakfast is a diner. This is one of the nicest diners in the area. The place is old but actually that makes it more interesting. Diner has to look old otherwise I would call it fake diner :) I like the coffee here a lot. It is not too strong or too weak. It is perfect. The service is quick and the portions are generous. The menu has about 100 different items and sides you can pick from. The average price for omelette is about $9.00. The reason I am not giving it 5 star is because there is no creativity at this place. The menu doesn't offer anything different or special. My favorite breakfast spot in Eagle Rock. It reminds me of an East Coast diner like I grew up with, chipped brown coffee mugs and all. There's nothing pretentious about Armon's. They are there to quickly serve you some great food at a decent price. It can get pricey around the area and Armon's doesn't overcharge. My favorite item is their pancakes. They are huge! Ive been passing by Armons for years and kept thinking one day I will try it. I should've kept on driving. The air was hot in there and bit uncomfortable for me. I had the lunch special, half a sandwhich with a cup of soup and fries. The sandwhich was overloaded with too much turkey and just lettuce. The soup was ok but needed a bit of salt and pepper. And the fries could've been cooked a bit longer. Hubbie and daughter had the Bacon omelette, nothing spectacular. But they did get a humoongous serving of hash browns. The bill came out to $30 !!!! nothing to write home about! in fact just stay home and cook for yourself. read more

Went in at 11 AM for a little late breakfast with a friend. I had to flag down our server as he seemed preoccupied. I asked for the breakfast special which seemed to confuse him, so I pointed to the window. He asked if I wanted toast, which was not listed and I stated, ok, wheat. My friend ordered an omelet with spinach and tomatoes, of which there was some discussion of the items to be added. After a short period, the toast was brought along with a plate of scrambled eggs and ham. I looked at the woman and stated I had not ordered that and had ordered the special. My friends omelet showed up looking edible. After several minutes, my special showed up. The guy either did not understand me, the special or both. I had to ask 3 times for a doggy bag, I am not sure he knew what that was. When the check arrived there were charges which we did not know what they were for, turns out the spinach and tomatoes where the extra charges for the omelet. The guy serving us has no business being a waiter and a simple sorry for the goof up would have made things better. I will never return as the special wasn't so special nor was the service. read more

This place has really good food, esp. the breakfast. I usually get the Bluberry Waffle with eggs and bacon, and a cup of coffee and love it every time. Oh, and their homemade salsa is delicious! It's by far the best salsa I've ever had. The only reason why I'm giving them four stars instead of five is because even though they are kind, they don't really check up on you or buss your table. I've been coming here for years and they always smile and say hi, but even when they are not busy, your dirty dishes stay on the table the whole time. If i need something i usually have to wave them down or get up amd ask them, but i just got used to this. At least theh make sure your coffee is always filled.
