The ordering online system was down so we walked in to place the order. We got a couple blueberry and everything bagels to eat later. Then my sister and I ordered breakfast. I got the fit bagel: egg whites, avocado, tomato, black pepper, and added turkey. Just okay. Not the most flavorful. I get that I chose something lean/healthy but it was nothing to write home about. My sister got Uova Benedetto: poached egg, prosciutto, pesto, provolone on focaccia. Decent. Also nothing to write home about. The bagels themselves were just okay. It's hard to find good bagels on the west coast but Philz honestly tasted better. Service was okay. They're friendly if you're a regular and not so much if you aren't... It's a busy place though. Kinda cramped when they're busy. So we walked to get smoothies while waiting for our food. I'd come back to try their coffee or pizza since those items seemed more highly rated. this is such a perfect place to sit & work or just sit and sip your coffee. I've had the bruschetta toast and it is amazing. The eggs are fluffy and I always ask for extra pesto on top as well. *chefs kiss* The ambience is very warm and welcoming every time i come in there are large groups sitting, talking, laughing and just enjoying being there. The latin latte is another favorite of mine if you want a good drink to sip on. For this visit I only got my go-to Caramel Machiavelli. But this place is for more than just coffee! Aroma Di Roma is my favorite cafe on 2nd street. Its great for to-go orders or sit down meals. The breakfast panini is unreal and never fails to hit the spot. But they have a vast menu no matter what you're in the mood for. Came here with a friend before we had to go to a food event and whatever I had was amazing. It was on their seasonal drinks list and it was so light and very unique. Good thing i read the description though because I was watching the barista making it and I noticed there was no chocolate foam on it. I asked her about it and she forgot and was super nice about. She said she can't keep track of all the seasonal drinks since they just introduced it. She was very sweet about it and apologized a lot. The drink was amazing. read more

Hubby & I have passed by this cafe more than a few dozen times & finally ventured in--I wanted a chai latte & a shortbread cookie. Emma took my order, she's chill & friendly, conversational. This place totally looks like a locals' hangout. It has indoor & outdoor seating. Great vibe with graffiti like art drawn on the walls, imaginative & colorful. My chai latte was delicious, it really hit the spot, I should've ordered it spiced though, perhaps next time. My shortbread cookie was simple but it's how I like it. Came to this place on a Sunday morning around 11:00am and it was very busy! They have seating inside and some outside to enjoy your meal and/or drink there. They have a pretty large food menu so there's something for everyone. To drink I ordered an iced blueberry latte with oat milk and a blueberry cream soda (I couldn't decide so why not try both?!) I love a good cream soda and theirs was scrumptious. The blueberry latte was good too and I would definitely come back to try other latte flavors! My friends got paninis and I tried a bite of the toscana panini which was very flavorful and delicious. You can "make it sexy" which means adding tomato, green onion and pesto (highly recommend!) My friend got their Belgian waffle which was fluffy and yummy. I can confidently say I'll be back to try more things! read more

My new favorite coffee shop on 2nd street. I'm big on Italian food and coffee in general so when I first decided to frolick my way in, I stayed for hours sipping on my cafe au lait. Cannoli's, sandwiches, paninis... they have it all for you. LOADS of specialty coffee drinks that I've yet to try. Recently, I got the caffe Machiavelli which hit me like a truck because of how sweet it was. Old me would have loved it, but I'm sure y'all would love this deliciously sweet coffee. Their cannolis are amazing too; I'm betting their other pastries are just as good. The aura. I can spend hours here writing or reading. I already did. I usually don't leave negative reviews, but I had a horrible experience here and hope this can help the staff and management improve. My friend and I came in a few days ago to take an online class and get coffee and food. I ordered a tuna panini (half of their menu options are paninis) and I was told they were out of bread but offered it in a wrap. My friend ordered a pizza. We sit down and wait patiently, they were somewhat busy but from my experience in the service industry it was manageable. 30 minutes go by and one of the staff comes to tell me they are out of tuna and wanted to know if I wanted something else. I was a bit surprised by this, and couldn't immeadietly step away from my computer so I told him I would think about it and come up when I am ready. He was not at all apologetic and seemed annoyed. It took over an hour for the pizza to come out. Guests that ordered before and after us had already dined and left. The pizza was not impressive. I am annoyed at this point and let them know I don't want anything else and would just like the refund. I was rudely told "we are really busy right now that's why I came up to you before to figure it out" the other staff member kept saying "I have no idea how to do a refund". About a half an hour later we went to remind them and he eventually did it... refunded the wrong item and just dropped off the receipt and ran away. Maybe it was because we were young girls, maybe it was because he hates his job and was having a bad day. Regardless I was really disappointed in this experience and definitely will not be back. I did hear some guests express how much they loved this spot, I just wish we could have had a similar experience! Long Beach is not short on fun coffee and food spots so I know I wont be missing out too much. read more

I do not recommend coming here to get any internet based work done. It took about 3 minutes for speedtest to load. Once it did it showed speeds are roughly at 2Mbps and not up to what I think a modern cafe should offer. Every webpage takes a minute to load. For better wifi I recommend any other coffee shop on 2nd street. read more

I love the downtown location, and the one in Belmont Shores is perhaps even better. Well, it's way busier so it definitely has more of a vibe, where the downtown location is definitely more business. I came here for breakfast and the gentleman who took my order was very kind and patient, even with my somewhat complicated customized espresso request. Thank you for that! I got the burrito and it was a tasty little filling one with scrambled eggs, potatoes, choice of protein and a little bit of house made salsa. Bravo, Aroma di Roma: I have always been an italophile. I love that they open super early and I sometimes run down there before parking gets crazy to enjoy coffee or tea and breakfast. The staff is super friendly. I love their coffee which I usually get iced and I like they have so many vegan options for plant based milks. I usually get oat milk but they have other choices. Avocado toast is very California and nice and for lunch I like their paninis, salads or pizza. They have great selection of gourmet tea/coffees and Italian sodas and gelato. Yes they are slightly more expensive then Sheldrake's or Starbuck's but the quality is so much better and I always run into neighbors or nice friends in the area. The only things that could better. 1. I hate having to ask for a restroom key. That always feels so tacky and with the large ring it is like advertising you have to go to the bathroom. 2. I'm not really pet person and I alway see people with their yapping dogs on the patio. On nice days it sad I can't sit outside because there are always dogs jumping all over you. Also so unsanitary. And I know some people are pet persons but I'm always a bit annoyed when people also bring their pets in doors and I'm trying to relax only to be assaulted by loud barking animals. Aroma di Roma is not a pet shop! This is again why I usually go super early when nobody is there so I can enjoy my coffee/tea and breakfast in quiet relaxation. 3. But overall they keep the establishment clean. However sometimes when crowded you are really waiting a while for your food. This is why I always go early morning for breakfast like 7 am and for lunch I usually go 10:30 before the crowds. .This way I can get in and out or sometimes enjoy eating there when it is quieter. I despise noise and crowds or screaming kids. 4. Prices get a bit high. Panini with side salad and coffee was nearly over $20 . But then again so are most restaurants . 5. I despise when trucks are unloading in the back . they block the whole parking lot in the back and people are waiting to leave. I was late for work twice because of this and literally once had to wait 30 minutes before the illegal truck moved. I understand space it tight in Belmont Shore. But there is small parking lot to the side of the Aroma in the back with more space for trucks. I know a lot of patrons have complained about this. But overall nice place and sometimes I run into ltalian locals that I can pratice my Italian with. I ordered once in Italian but the barista didn't understand. She was sweet about it and we had a good laugh. Until I can get back to Rome, this is a little taste of it locally. Viva Italia. read more

We need more Frank's in the world of crazy. Service could be more friendlier but understandable when it's busy. Food is great. I've always loved coming here. I love the sort of Italian theme and it's a great place to meet people for meetings. In the last week and half I've been in 3 times and my SAME beverage has gone up from $6.95 to $10.05! That's insane, that's taking advantage of people. A coffee of any kind does NOT cost that much to make. I am happy to pay a FAIR price for the experience, but it's not even a fair trade, organic, single source coffee! No more! I'll go to Sheldrakes! It's a fair price and not being gouged there! I will say the service is always great and friendly though! The owner is just over charging and taking advantage! read more
