The store is very very clean, they have signs everywhere talking about how they sterilize, and I even saw the woman putting the instruments in the autoclave when I was done. All of the ladies were very nice and weren't talking to each other incessantly. The young lady who did my pedicure did a really good job, but I think the lady who did my nails was the owner/manager, so she had to run off a few times to greet clients or take appointments. Not her fault, but I think because of it she forgot to finish my nails (I just got a buff, so it wasn't like 3 nails didn't have polish or something). I may give them another try since everything else was good, and I did like that I didn't have to put my feet in the whirlpool of who-knows-what. read more

Never Again!!!!! I was treated to a mani/pedi by a friend only for us both to be so disappointed with service and services. My hands were smothered in cuticle softening cream and wrapped in a warm towel. The reaction between the heat and the cuticle cream burned my skin to the point of bloody cracks on two fingers. I was later cut with the cuticle clippers to the point of blood. I had to kindly ask her to stop cutting my cuticles and move to the next thing. After the polishing was complete, i look at my hands to inspect the job done. ( I went in with clean hands and have had no polish on for two months) I notice that my actual finger nails are YELLOW! I asked the manicurist what it was and she insisted that i was tanning! I am olive skin tone, no need to tan; I explained! She proceeded to take all the polish off and noticed that my actual nails around the cuticle were stained. The manicurist apologized. This place gives "Monatana Ave" a bad rep! read more

A very clean nail salon. It's clean and bright inside with friendly staff who do an excellent job. There are no pedicure spa chairs here, so it's nice not worrying about contracting some sort of infection from debris in a clogged drain of a spa chair. At Artistic nails, they use a foot basin and line it with different plastic for each patron. I drive out of my way to get my nails done here and will continue to do so. read more

This is by far the best nail salon on Montana. I have been going here for over 5 years. The prices are better than the other salons on Montana, which I had tried before going prior to finding Artistic Nails. This is not somewhere you go if you want a cheap and quick nail job, because they do a high quality job for both manicures and pedicures. Even if I get a regular manicure i.e. not gel, my nails will almost last an entire week. I love the staff and owner Jaime. She has done a great job making changes to the décor and updating things. Came here for a pedicure. Receptionist fit us in short notice for a Sunday. Very friendly and sweet. Super clean space and utensils. Very gentle, no nicks or cuts at all. Very friendly, very clean - I love coming in here, and I actually drive 15 minutes rather than go to my neighborhood place because they always do such a good job at Artistic. The manicurists all wear magnifying glasses and they are very careful and precise - you never leave thinking "I could have done a better job myself," which happens to me about half the time if I go other places. read more

Do not come here if you have acrylics they don't know how to do them!! I live no where near here yelped for a good nail salon in Brentwood, didn't think that would be an issue especially on Montana Ave. To make a long story short, they over filed all my acrylics down, when they filled my nail they then filed even more acrylic down to where they didn't have barely any on there... wtf they call this their natural style of doing acrylics. They offer to re do them and things get worse! I had regular nail polish, not gels and they used the machine on my already weak nails!! When I complained she tried to make up some lies and then confessed it was done to save time! They refunded me my money and now my nails have all broken off, some in the middle of my nail bed causing me serious pain that still won't go away!!! I'm coming to fuck with you guys every day just watch,I will go out of my way to make you wish you never opened a nail salon I am so fucking angry!!!!! Hands down the best customer service I've ever received at a nail salon. Incredibly polite and friendly, they even were kind enough to refill my meter! Never have I felt that the extra money I paid for the callus removal was worth it but this one was and then some. I was an obnoxious customer with a complicated design request and they helped to get it done for me happily - no rolling of the eyes or comments in a language I couldn't understand. I've been to many nail salons and Artistic Nails always does the best job on manicures, pedicures and even waxing. They really take their time and are also super friendly. Jamie is so nice, I highly recommend her! They also have the best polish colors out of any salon. They have so many options and even carry the new Essie "gel polish" which is rare to find in any salon. This polish makes my regular manicure last over a week! I used to love this place but recently had such a bad experience I have to leave a review to warn others. 4 months ago I got a pedicure with my sister and the woman who did my pedicure cut my toenails down on the sides and has caused me to get ingrown toenails for the past 4 months as a result. The woman clearly did not know what she was doing. I've never had that happen before. Also, she just chatted with the other coworker next to her and hardly acknowledged me which was odd. Secondly, the woman who was giving my sister a manicure cut her causing her to bleed and then didn't apologize. I was so horrified and embarrassed to have taken my sister there for her birthday that I paid and walked out and really should have made a stink. What's worse is she told me after that the other coworkers were talking about how she had cut her. They all knew! and not only they didn't apologize or tell her she didn't have to pay. Don't go!! The woman who did my nails was very sweet and aware of what I wanted--magazines, water bottles, etc. I really liked the atmosphere. It was not busy when I went there, but the chairs are really comfy and it is pretty quiet since it is on the second floor of a building on Montana Avenue. The prices are reasonable. I got a manicure with gels and a massage (at least 10 minutes) and it was $50. They take cash only. They do have an ATM. Massage was great. read more

I have been going to Artistic Nails for over seven years and Jamie and Heidi have been incredibly kind and professional. My nails always look beautiful and they consistently go above and beyond to make sure I am happy with the end result. Jamie and Heidi became the owners about a year ago and the changes they have implemented have improved the service and environment. This nail spa is impeccably clean and the staff is gracious, sweet and very professional. I'm beyond picky when it comes to my nails and I prefer a very natural look, even with artificial nails (hehe, my little secret). I always see Vicky for my nails, she does an amazing job, she's a perfectionist and my nail job lasts at least 3 weeks. They use Essie and Opi nail polish, they offer spa pedicures with scrub, warm oil, steamed towels and this really yummy smelling cream. Amazing service and high quality talent! I got a gel manicure ($30 which is great for the Santa Monica area) and I got a 10 minute shoulder massage for an extra $10. Both services were wonderful!! My nails look great and today, my shoulder and back feel so much less tense and no headaches- which I know are all thanks to the amazing massage! The environment is very relaxing as well. I've gone there for my occasional mani/pedi and recently had been happy with Anna, but she was not available last time, so they gave me to Julie, and I was VERY unhappy with what she did. Worst of all she used some medieval-looking tool to scrape off the top layer of my nails , then she did a silk wrap on a broken nail but left a snag on it so it was gone by the next day. She spoke almost no English. I told her I wanted clear but she used a yellowish pinkish base coat under it. My nails break off constantly now (2 months later) from the terrible beating they took with that torture instrument. read more

I made an appointment the day before and when I arrived the woman looked me up and down, raised one eyebrow and asked if she could help me. I said I had an appointment and I was told to pick a color. The place was packed so I took my time looking for my polish. A woman came up to me and told me to sit down in the waiting area. I wasn't done picking a color but I sat in the waiting as instructed. As I sat and waited two of the employees stared at me and spoke in another language. Fine, whatever. 25 mins after my scheduled time I still hadn't been helped and no one said anything. Tried this place out based on positive reviews I'd seen. And I was not disappointed. I wasn't too sure what to expect. Knowing about the little boutique shops and high-priced atmosphere of that strip on Montana, part of me was expecting a higher-end, spa-like salon. I was expecting to pay 30-40 bucks for a manicure and another 30 for a pedicure. Instead when I walked I was greeted by a pretty standard, low-key nail salon. Pretty casual - but not dirty. You didn't get that skeevy feeling or wonder when the last time the leather chairs were disinfected when you sat down. The place was cute - the decor was fairly modern (I hate when salons have old, faded, outdated photos of plastic mannequin hands with acrylic nails) and all the manicurists had fun matching aprons on that said "Got Nails?". Cheesy - but again, cute. Non-pretentious and fun. It wouldn't be the type of place that I'd bring a bachelorette party for a one-time, super-classy spa day. But for a clean, comfortable, relaxed and reasonable place to get my nails done every other week? This place fits the bill perfectly. The chairs are SUPER cushy...I started to relax as soon as I sat down. Those massage chairs are great, but sometimes they're stiff and uncomfortable. These chairs didn't massage, but you sunk into them comfortably ...and I almost fell asleep within a few minutes of sitting down. They don't have automatic pedicure tub either, but again - they soak your feet in individual little plastic bins, all the while massaging and taking care of your tired feet. I felt that the personal service is a lot better than any automatic bubbles anyway. The girls were fantastic. Everyone spoke English really well, so it wasn't a struggle to communicate what exactly I wanted. Tracey took care of me and did a great job. Everyone wears name tags on their aprons so it makes remembering who takes care of you very easy. The 10 minute foot/leg massage that I paid an extra 5 bucks for felt amazing! And after the timer went off, the girl kept massaging, even though my time was up. It was great! My nails look fantastic. I usually get Shellac french manicures but my nails have been on the short side recently, so I had them just do a coat of light pink shellac until they grew out. They said the next time I came in, my nails would be long enough for the french (which only cost $30.00 - I'm used to paying $40.00 in San Diego). For a gel mani, regular pedi and additional foot/leg massages, I only spend $50.00. It was great. After paying, Tracey even gave me a $10 coupon for when I come back. And I certainly will be coming back! read more

I had a pedicure only here. The chairs are very comfortable and I almost didn't miss the massage chair feature. I came around 3 pm on a weekday and called ahead. A couple of people were turned away while I was there but most walk-ins were accomodated. They have a lot of polish choices. No sugar scrub and very minimal massage with basic pedicure, $1 per minute extra for more massage. Don did a great job with attention to detail on the polish, and redid my big toe when a big bubble appeared on it. Clean salon but there are fumes because of the space.
