Love love this little asian Star," it's ethnic, not (over Americanized). Very quick service too. The girl who took the order was extremely sweet. Food out very quick. Quiet. New chinese food place thats opened up next to carmines and picoas off the spring valley and monfort shopping mall strip. I came in for lunch, and I swung by and decided to give it a try.. since I like new places. Staff is all latino, which is cool with me, I was just there for food. Ordered a szechuan beef (since it had carrots and celery.. usually a good mix for something tangy).. got fried rice and a drink, came out to be like 6$ and something. Good price.. Came home, opened it up, and it looked like beef fajita strips with all the veggies and beef kinda.. sliced up like mini vertical lines.. not really what i'm a fan of, (too spoiled from other locations I guess).. and the taste was just.. not really much of anything. It wasn't tangy.. it wasn't spicy.. didn't have a savory sauce.. I was kinda disappointed. First time here the place was empty and the cook was playing Mexican music in the kitchen with a portable radio very loud. The place was dirty. Looked in the kitchen area and the WOKs were dirty, the stove had a tin can of water continually running into it. We really like the hot & sour soup. The egg rolls were crispy and flavorful...more like spring rolls to me. Egg foo young with chicken was very good; it was a little bland, but a bit of soy sauce fixed that easily. The Hunan chicken was very flavorful and not bland at all. As someone else mentioned, the fried rice was plain with no peas or carrots or anything at all, which would have been nice and so easy to do, but we poured some of the sauce from the Hunan chicken on it and it was fine. 2 soups, 2 egg rolls, 2 entrees, with plenty left over for tomorrow, for $22....works for me! read more

We had a friend visiting for the weekend and we were all cravings Chinese food for lunch. I had the wonton soup and the pork fried rice, and we all shared the crab rangoon. The wonton soup was okay, just wish there was more to it. Only had one wonton. The pork fried rice was decent, and the portion was HUGE. I think I made like, 4 meals out of it. Decently priced as well. It's alright, but I'm not sure if it will be our go-to Chinese spot. read more

Local Mom & Pop chinese no frills dining area. Prices reasonable but food quality when we went was just so so. My wife got the Lemon Chicken which was dry and over cooked for a pounded chicken filet. Heard some good things about this place, so decided to try it. Ordered 8 chicken wings, which were, no joke, smaller than my thumb. Maybe 2 inches by 1 inch. If you put them all together, you'd get one normal sized wing. And greasy. Our entrees weren't too bad, but those wings - seriously, we're still wondering what bird they came off of, maybe a hummingbird?? Too bad too, since they're close to where we live. read more

My rating for this restaurant coincides with the price point. The food was cheap, huge portions, tasted good, but I have definitely had better, even at this price. Still, I would order from there again. The pork lo mein was drenched in sauce, flat egg noodles, but tasty. The orange chicken as also good, but there was dark meat in some bites, had a lot of onions and green peppers in it. The only thing I really disliked was the hot and sour soup. Not very traditional, watery broth and not spicy but very sour. The crab ragoons were the folded over triangle style, with thick egg roll paper, lots of cheese, very mild crab flavor. Place is real small maybe 12 tables max. Staff and possibly owner were all hispanic/ latin orgin but no biggie since most chinese or fast food is cooked by our friendly neighbors to the south. I ordered the combo fried rice as this is my customary "test" dish when I try a new chinese restaurant. Why? It's hard to mess up fried rice. Anyways, the fried rice was very good with lots of meat and mixed bag veggies. I will be back to try other dishes seeing that this place is a solid 3.5 star place. 'Tis what it is. Cheap, fast, and the manager is a super nice guy. Note: Bamboo shoots here are really julienned white onions to bamboozle you into thinking you're getting shoots. As a matter of fact, the 4 dishes I've tried are overwhelmingly sliced white onions as the predominant ingredient. I love the portions and sizes from here , they are priced very fair compared to Most Chinese restaurants that deliver in the area and they give you more for what you pay , I recommend ordering for lunch you get spring rolls with the order that's always a plus . Very disappointing! The order was wrong when delivered...they did offer to send out a new meal correctly made but said I'd need to return the wrong meal instead of letting me eat a little of it while I waited. They also shorted our fried shrimp appetizer...the egg rolls were actually small spring rolls! The recooked order tasted much better but was still basic Chinese fare.
