My fiancé ordered the burrito supreme and he rates it a 7/10 - a little too much beans for his taste and lack of a flavor kick. I ordered the chicken and beef flautas and they were delicious, however next time I would order them without the cheese inside if that's possible le since there's sour cream, cheese on the beans, and the flautas are a little oily, so fat was heavy in the dish. Well, if you like plain tasting, non spicy, lacking flavor of Mexico, this place is for you. Perhaps they could add cilantro and onions to the dishes or perhaps add cumin, peppers, salt, and chilis to the food. That is what is missing. Maybe get a Serrano or hatch chili added to items. Even cooked onions would help flavor the food. This is what we call American Mexican food. No taste and neutral for the silver hairs that want to eat Mexican tonight. The plus is they are open on Monday when Amigos is closed. And finally, why does it smell like sweaty socks? My favorite Mexican food restaurant in Mammoth and Bishop area. Very authentic Mexican food, perfectly prepared. Friendly, attentive staff. The patio is my favorite place to be seated on a hot summer day. A large tree provides plenty of shade. The only negative is the traffic noise on 395. Regardless it's a great place to sit! If 3 1/2 stars were available, I would rate it there. Why not give it 3? Because it may take their overall 4 star rating down and I think there's room for improvement. We've been here about 4 times over 3-4 years. The food is consistent, the enchilada sauce is very good, and chips/salsa are just okay. I try to give constructive input so hopefully the rest is taken that way and helpful to them for areas of improvement. As ambiance goes, this establishment desperately needs a makeover inside and out. The staff is not rude however, they are not friendly either. Like everywhere, the prices have gone up (to be expected) but "cc $$" is all over the menu, so it's apparent if you use credit, it's even more. There is definitely less food proffered and chips could be counted to under a dozen for 2 people. Sour cream is $3 on the menu, same as guacamole, wow! This town has seasonal business, currently on the way out of 1 season soon to enter another. A lot of locals go here so I hope they make it. read more

Last night we were treated to a disaster at Astorga's, hungry after a fun day of play. We stopped to have dinner like we have for over six years, were greeted and seated quickly, chips and soda there too. After 25 minutes we got up to leave when the hostess came over to say the waitress would be right over, (the waitress was right behind her, up till that time the waitress had not even acknowledged us) by then the chips were gone for over ten minutes and we hadn't seen any food delivered to the three tables before us. At that point I had to wonder how long I would have waited for mine? Don't think they were shorthanded, there must have been five or more working. We said that we were still leaving, as we were walking towards the door the waitress said "we're busy" and "don't come back". There were only three out of ten tables taken in her section when we were seated! The salsa was authentic and excellent. Had a bit of a zing to it! Second: My husband ordered street tacos and an enchilada. He raved over them. First place in Bishop that I found has a coupon for checking in!!! Ok so we went there for dinner. I would have given it 5 stars for food but our server sucked. I even had to remind her again after we got the check about the Yelp coupon for 10% off. She really sucked at keeping up on us. Took 20 minutes to place our order. There were about 7 tables total with people at them including us and the patio. Our server was the blonde Mexican girl. The decor is lacking. You walk into this house turned restaurant on hwy 395 north end of town. As soon as you walk in you see the cashier/hostess stand next to the door. No sign saying please wait or seat yourself. So we stood there waiting. Directly in front of you is the pick up window. At least the cook said someone would be right with you. The cook was the owner's son Jose. Nicest guy and good cook! On the ground is warn carpet and all I think is how many spills happen on this carpet and how often it's cleaned (which judging by the shape of the carpet I'm guessing not very often). There really is no decor there are vinyl booths along the wall and windows. We ordered a quesadilla for an appetizer it said it came with sour cream and guacamole it did not. My mom ordered Mexican tacos and I ordered crunchy tacos. Both came with rice and refried beans. The food was flavorful my crunchy tacos were soggy from the juices in the shredded beef and chicken but tasted good. read more
