Wow. This is a hidden gem in Anaheim, about 10 minutes from Disneyland. We were looking for a breakfast spot on the way home and happened across Atticus. It had good reviews and good-looking food in the pics so we decided to give it a shot. It was absolutely what we wanted and were hoping for. The chilaquiles are the star of the show with delicious sauces and chips that stay crispy to the last bite. I added steak to mine, and it was tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. We also loved the cafe de olla, the cold brew, the pancakes and French toast--everything was amazing. If we lived closer, we'd be here very often. But this'll be our spot any time we go to Disneyland or are headed to Orange County. We couldn't recommend it more highly! read more

Really expensive in my opinion but the food is delicious. I love how they have so many options for everyone, plant based or not. I also enjoy the infusion of Mexican/Hispanic cuisines. The coffee is incredible and so are the chilaquiles. I definitely need to try more options. The wait can be pretty long but Im assuming it's because it's a small delicious breakfast spot with not that many tables for everyone that wants to eat here. Located in a strip mall but easy to find. We waited about 20 min for a table for 6 on a Sunday morning around 10 am. Food took a little long to come out. I got the vegan breakfast burrito dry with scrambled eggs which was great. The portion is a little small (for me it was fine but for my husband it wasn't enough). I can't believe I haven't reviewed Atticus Cafe yet considering how many times we've been here (5+). We found Atticus spontaneously on the search for chilaquiles cuz that's his all time favorite brunch dish. Don't get me wrong, I like chilaquiles as much as the next person, but this guy.. he could eat it for breakfast, lunch & dinner if he could. Needless to say, the chilaquiles here are right at the top of our list. Love that you can choose between the red and green sauce and can add chorizo, chicken, or steak. We prefer the green, red is a little too spicy We've tried chorizo and steak and both were amazingly delicious. Steak was soo tender and flavorful and chorizo has a slight, super enjoyable kick. I've also had the breakfast sandwich and it was also super tasty! Also the cafe de olla is the best we've had to date.. other places have a mild cinnamon taste but here, you can really taste the cinnamon, and it feels like Christmas morning. Love, love, love Atticus! But I wish it was a slightly better kept secret cuz the waitlist gets longer and longer each time we come. Found this spot to grab breakfast. It's located in a small shopping area. We arrived went inside, we were told to go back out and put our name on the list. It seemed off because there was nobody waiting and open tables. But we did as requested. After a few minutes we were taken in to be seated at the 1st table next to where we entered. We ordered 1 cocoa, and water. We ordered the chilaquiles and the chorizo plate and a side of crispy bacon. Food came out shortly and it was good flavor bacon was just as ordered. The chilaquiles were a bit too saucey,, but I did like the crispy chips. It has cute table holiday decor and candles and t-shirts for sale. It's not your normal menu but good choices. But one suggestion is to take care of customers and don't send them out to write down their name if it isn't busy. Their really isn't much point to that. read more

Prior to heading back to LA, we were looking for a nearby breakfast spot and Yelp lead us to Atticus Cafe. We arrived at an older shopping mall and walked up to the restaurant. There is no outdoor seating, but we got a table right next to the door. On a Wednesday morning, there were a few other occupied tables. Mostly retirees enjoying themselves. We were promptly handed menus and perused the menu. We ended up ordering an orange juice, chilaquiles (con salsa verde), and wet breakfast burrito. Overall, I was very pleased with the chilaquiles. The home-fried tortillas packed a delicious crunch and the salsa verde was tasty and nicely acidic. They also brought a squeeze bottle of red salsa and it was so good together. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The portion wasn't the largest; however, the generous toppings made up for it. I left the meal feeling satisfied and not overly full, which is great! My partner enjoyed the burrito and shared a bite with me. While I left just full enough, they were much more full given the generous portion. Their only comment was that they wished there was more salsa verde. They ended up using the salsa verde I didn't eat from my chilaquiles. I thought this worked out well--nothing was wasted. Wouldn't know how good the food is... they wouldn't sit a party over 6. We got there and saw the sign that said no parties over 6 people. We had two families 4 and 3 so we asked if we can sit separately as two parties but was denied. The server was just doing his job, and we respect the owners rules. The rating is strictly on the cafe de olla. The service was eh. My family and I had never been here so we walked in on a weekday morning when it was pretty empty. There was absolutely no people waiting and we set ourselves down not noticing that I guess you're supposed to sign up in the front ? Waitress was not happy about that and had a little bit of an attitude because of that. No one was upfront when we walked in. She should've probably been upfront to sit people down if it upset her so much... Anywho, The portions are nice because they aren't large portions. The cafe de ills is DELICIOUS. As a group of 3 and a baby, the kicker was getting charged 20% for having an infant (8 month old) with us. If the food was at least decent and service was as good, we could overlook the experience because we tend to just let things go but this was a disappointment. My bf and I were craving some brunch food and came across this small cafe that is PERFECT for small parties. Service is fast and staff members are super nice. I had gotten the popular chilaquiles with green sauce and chorizo. My bf got the plate (name I cannot pronounce) but it came with toast, 2-3 bacon strips, eggs, and potatoes. honestly, this place isn't bad but the price to portion ratio insane - it makes it not worth it. it wasn't always like this (I've been coming here for years because i live in the neighborhood next door) but i understand with inflation and all the prices need to be raised.. that doesn't mean the portions need to be smaller though. shrinkflation is unfortunately very real. i mean if you want a decent meal for yourself and you're in the area then come here but if you're eating with other people take them to Cafe Cultura in Santa Ana or Fullerton or the best of all, Bandoleros in HB. This small little gem has been a go to for me since I discovered it last year. I moved to OC a few years back and have been on mission looking for new places to eat. I'm not usually a breakfast or brunch type of person, but from the moment we walked in I was impressed with the ambiance, the open kitchen, and boutique style of the restaurant. Not to mention it smelled amazing inside. They have an amazing cafe de olla available hot or iced, and I have to say their chilaquiles is by far the best I've ever had. Holy Wow! This place is AMAZING. My wife, kids, and I came for a Father's Day breakfast and it was an excellent treat indeed. The kids had the chocolate chip pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. The pancakes were clearly homemade, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. The bacon was so crispy and delicious my son didn't even leave a bite for dad, which is pretty rare. My wife had the breakfast quesadilla with Steak. Wow. The hanger steak they use is so tender, flavorfully marinated and delicious. With scramble eggs and delicious melting cheese inside, and a nice garnish of crema and green onions on top it was just perfect. To top offf the perfection it was served with a side of the chefs homemade verde salsa which was to die for! I had the steak and eggs and it didn't disappoint at all! The steak was the same deliciousness as in the quesadilla and the house hotsauce in every table was the perfect, spicy compliment. Service was ON POINT as well. I've been hesitant on writing this review because our experience was OK, there are some details to our time there that make the situation a little puzzling. My family and I were in town on vacation and read the great reviews online as the must place to eat locally while in Anaheim. When we arrived, we were really excited to be there and weren't aware of the six group max so we separated our family of 7 into two sub groups four at one table and three at another. My parents were called in first as they were the party of four and then about 10 minutes later my family which is the group of three was called in. I will add that on this particular morning. They were not busy at all. My parents table received unkind service from the waitress. While my family and I had, the group of three were completely ignored by her so much so that she proceeded to serve and take the order of the group after us. The gentleman who was the host I believe, picked up on either mine or my husband's frustration and came to the rescue. He provided Swift and exceptional customer service. Please understand we are the most patient people, especially when it comes to trying new restaurants and not really knowing the menu or just not knowing the ambience that you're going to encounter but her complete avoidance of our table and not even acknowledging when being asked for something simple by far ruined this experience. When it came time to pay, I was not aware that my parents had decided to pay altogether for not only their meal, but our meal as well and in reviewing the bill I couldn't make it make sense. There was a total of seven of us and our bill came out to 250+. We didn't even order the expensive items off the menu. Overall, my family enjoyed the food and presentation of each dish. Really good food, but with a really long wait. When we checked in and added our name to the wait list, we were told 20 - 25 minutes. By the time we were called to our table, we'd been standing outside for almost 50 minutes, and then when we were seated, the hostess told us that it'd be an even longer wait, as they didn't want to overwhelm the kitchen. Uhm? Sweet, but really? The kitchen, in this instance, consisted of two women cutting, chopping and sauteeing their way through orders for the entire restaurant. Granted, the restaurant isn't that big, but it was brunch on a Sunday, and they were super busy. At any rate, while we were waiting for our waitress to come back with the okay to order, we got two orders of their Cafe De Olla ($4). When we were given the order go-ahead, I went with the Scramble Combo ($12) with cotija cheese, sauteed onions and soyrizo (plus $1), plus the side of pancakes. My husband ordered the Green Durango Chilaquiles ($10.50) with steak (plus $5). Once our order was placed, the food came out pretty quickly. I loved the scramble - they were generous with the cotija cheese and the soyrizo, and the flavors worked really well together. I was surprised by how much I loved the two pancakes that came with it, as well. I'm not typically a pancake girl, but it sounded good to me that morning. I'm glad I went with those, and not toast - the pancakes were light and fluffy in the middle, which I prefer. The fact that they weren't dense meant they didn't instantly soak up the syrup, which meant the cakes were light and delicious from start to finish. My husband really enjoyed thie chilaquiles as well, though he did say that the green sauce was spicier than he'd anticipated. To be fair, our waitress did tell him that the green sauce was on the spicier side, but my husband just never believes that anything will be spicy enough for him. They were generous with the steak and cheese on his plate, as well, and though it was a veritable mound of food, he made short work of it. We did end up spending over two hours there, from the time we checked in to the time we pushed away to leave. It wasn't exactly the fastest pre-drive to San Diego brunch we've ever experienced, but it was one of the tastiest. And, they gave free (and frequent) refills of the Cafe De Olla, which wreaked havoc with my bladder on the drive home, haha. read more
