Decided to try a place in my neighborhood and walked right into to Au Jus for a solo date, as some bbq food is exactly what I could use for a lunch. The place is very cute with penalty of pictures surrounding it, throwback music and a homey vibe to it. The place is small itself and can only fit a certain amount. The service was attentive and friendly, I just wish they told me coleslaw came with my meal already instead of ordering an extra side because the coleslaw was not all that great. I ordered off their brunch menu and have the Oklahoma play which gave me different meats and sides and all were delicious with the Hold Sauce they provided. I even loved it with the bread! With my meal I tried their sangria and it was really good, that I had another one before leaving. Overall a quiet and chill place to enjoy oneself.

I've ordered many things on the menu both in person and for takeout. My favorite is the short ribs with baked beans and Mac and cheese. The other ribs they have are very dry. I do like the variety of different BBQ sauces they offer and the service is great with a very casual vibe if you're dining in. Overall a great staple I go here once a month!

Best BBQ in NYC. The sauces are an absolute game changer, the service is quick and reliable and overall the vibes with the history + photos make it so enjoyable

Hubs isn't a BBQ connoisseur neither am I. But he had gotten the urge for sliders and figured this would be a good spot after wrapping up with a pitiful breakfast in the Lenox Hill area. He noticed this place on Lex. between 100th-101st Streets in E. Harlem the last time I got Chocolate Mousse around the corner and mentally saved it. I wanted to turn around and leave, but hubs saw an Eggplant Sandwich and a Roasted Eggplant Salad of some kind listed on their menu that I might enjoy, but when I asked about either one, they had none. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. So sliders for hubs it was. Au Jus has a decked out brick wall and the clear partitions between tables, were nice to see. Plus outdoor seating, looks quaint. Hubs enjoyed the Cuban and Brisket sliders and said the meats in both, were seasoned and tender. His only issue was the type of bread used and the sweetness in it. But I'll be honest though- if I was a meat eater, I think I'd appreciate and enjoy that sweet+savory combo. But anyhow. There's something for every type of eating lifestyle here. I would just call ahead of time to find out if a particular item I want to eat is available.

Au Jus is a restaurant that serves sliders and sandwiches of BBQ or roasted meats. They also sell the meats by the pound. Prices are reasonable and affordable. I had a pound of pork rib tips, an Oklahoma onion burger, and an Oklahoma "Not So Hot" Link slider with a sweet tea. Sweet tea was ok, not a favorite though. It's my first time having a sweet tea so I don't know how it is supposed to taste. It was a tad bitter and not too sweet. Two or three sliders are enough to make a full meal. They were good but not the best quality. You can customize how well done or rare you want the burger. The Oklahoma onion burger is like a cheeseburger but with onions and two small beef patties. I liked the Oklahoma link slider better, which consists of sausage, arugula, cheese, and chipotle mayo. The pork rib tips is a great deal. It's $6 per pound and is a lot of meat. It has a dry rub, but the flavor is a bit lacking. Nothing the BBQ sauce that comes with it can't fix.

Horrible food. It's always empty when I go in and when there are a few customers, it's usually a senior age crowd. I ordered Mac and cheese, soup, and cornbread. The only eatable food was the cornbread. I took two bites and left everything else behind. Even the lemonade was bad.

WARNING ! FOOD POISONING !! Yesterday was the first time I came in to this restaurant, I was craving brisket and saw that the restaurant had high reviews. I stepped in, the place was clean and the cashier was polite. I ordered a brisket sandwich, fries and both brownies. A few hours later after eating my the sandwich and fries I started feeling nauseous and that's when I started feeling worse. I definitely got food poisoning from eating the sandwich . I know for a fact I got food poisoning for this establishment because the only thing I ate prior was coffee and bread. Extremely disappointed that the food got me sick

    Nasty cockroaches roaming around

FOOD IS TERRIBLE. DO !!!!NOT!!!COME HERE PLEASE. Absolutely the worst restaurant. Manager is a complete a-hole to his own customers and even his employees. Found cockroaches roaming around. Price is way too high for the portions they give you and they just microwave their food. No cooking is done. Worst place ever.

Wow!! For a neighborhood bbq spot that's right around the corner from me, I can't complain. What a fantastic little shop. The beef brisket was juicy and full of flavor, while the box of tips is SO tasty and has a good bite to the meat (all while being such a good deal! $6 for 1lb and $11 for 2lbs!). Platters come with 2 sides and the tips don't come with any. Sides are reasonably priced and come in big servings tho. BUT the baked beans were OMG my favorite - sweet and smoky and chewy and everything you could ever ask for in baked beans! The Mac and Cheese is quite special too. Can't wait to go back to try some sandwiches for a quick weekday lunch. Only thing is that the outdoor seating, while super cute, gets really cold bc there's no shield from the wind. But the wait staff was really nice and despite it being an over-the-counter spot, they brought out our food and drink to our table outside.

Looks seasoned, but not even close.

Zhejiang Mien, including Size #2 pressed noodles thick like udon, scallions, and cilantro, plus Cold Sesame Noodles utilizing handpulled lagman. Both dishes I ordered medium spicy. I placed a pickup order, but when I got there my food hadn't even been started yet, so I ended up standing around for another 10-15 minutes. That part was annoying. I started with the cumin dry rub wings. They were just okay. Very tangy, not very spicy, and honestly a bit over cooked/fried. I'd skip the wings. The steamed chicken and shiitake dumplings were the highlight. They had peas inside and were actually really good. Super flavorful and easily my favorite item. I also ordered the cumin soup with hand-pulled noodles, medium spicy. Everyone warned that spiciness was intense, so I played it safe, but medium ended up being pretty underwhelming for me. The soup was also very oily. The minced pork was fine, nothing special, and while I liked the noodles, they could've been cooked a bit longer. Overall... meh. :/

This drink is ordered up to 500 times a day and rightfully so!! It was light and delicious. For dinner, I ordered the sweet potato and coconut soup. It was flavorful and memorable. I crave it as I write this review. I then had the jerk salmon bowl. As a Jamaican, I was skeptical, however I had faith in God and the chef lol. I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I saw that the small, roasted tomatoes were left whole, however, cutting into them as they elegantly burst into an additional sauce was an experience I didn't know I needed. The jerk rub was spot on and made me want to whip out my flag, but I surprisingly left it at home. I say all this to say, I had an amazing experience and can't wait to come back and try their highly recommended chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, mac and greens, and more. A lot of eateries have developed here over the years so there's a vast variety of options. This was a lengthy walk from Harlem Hospital but it's doable. Coming to Harlem Biscuit was kind of hard to find, because there is another restaurant advertisement above the restaurant. Nonetheless we made it. Doors are open, you walk in, the staff is very attentive. Just as you walk in an employee greets you and direct you to the kiosks. You don't pass GO, you don't sit down and look at a menu, you go over to the kiosk and scroll, and search for what you want. The description of the food is underneath the item of choice. Can you get the feeling of how tedious this can be? One of the bad things about using a kiosk, as I was concluding my order, I was attempting to add my number. A lady on the next line at her kiosk reaches over and ended my transaction. For what reason, I think she thought that she was being helpful. She did get a tongue lashing. I've seen her around in my younger years in Harlem but didn't know her name. After the order was completed by a half stranger, my plus one and I sat and waited for our food to arrive. Theres a lot to look at while you're waiting. This place looks like a pub and hard to maneuver. I can imagine at night or on the weekends, it will get packed and that's not a bad thing, packed is great for businesses. I ordered the homemade chicken biscuit and Sweet tea. This biscuit was a huge square biscuit very filling and really satisfying. It's a biscuit, so you're going to get full. For my satisfaction, I ordered two plain biscuits to go, with butter on the side and a strawberry spread on the side as well. The biscuits were pretty good but the biscuit get very hard after two days, so a little TLC is needed when storing them. Pro-Tip - the butter and spread, a perfect combination, get it! Although I did enjoy the time and I enjoyed supporting the business, I came to eat, not work. Using the kiosk ( unsanitary) is a big deterrent for me. At this point, I'm indecisive on a return visit.
