THE MOST RIDICULOUS CHARGE EVER! They charge 15 cents more if you get less ice! Even though I ordered a large, they're gonna charge EVEN more for the fact that I got less ice. This place used to be 5/5 for me, but after coming back I'd say one less star, I believe the tea isn't steeped enough or maybe my drink was just very watered down. I got an osmanthus milk tea, usually it's very fragrant and has good flavor but trying it again it's so bland. But the black sesame milk tea was yummy, so maybe it just depends what drink you get. I'd stick with the top ten posted on their wall! However the barista was nice enough to let me change my drink when we complained (ik I'm picky I'm sorry) , we got to replace the drink for another sesame MT since it was a lot better. The service is quick but I don't think the drink quality was as good as before. I will have to come back and try the same drink again to see if it's improved. They're so nice tho they still drew a cat on my replaced drink :3 the boba was on point tho! It's a super solid boba spot. read more

I'm a big fan of enjoying my drinks hot, and AU is one of those places that will serve your hot drinks to you scalding hot . I like it this way, but just be careful for those of you who don't want your drinks to accidentally burn you. My daughters and I were on a dry ramen adventure last night. We got to Menya Hanabi in Arcadia 30 mins prior to their opening hours at 5:30 PM. I wanted to try Au79 Teahouse that happens to be in the same shopping center as Menya Hanabi. So we walked over to Au79 which took us a few minutes. It's a cute tea joint. There's limited inside dining along the wall and window, but there's plenty of outside patio dining. No fear of no seating unless they get really busy. They were all decked out with holiday decorations with the Christmas tree (they may want to put some more ornaments on the tree... it's kinda naked right now LOL) and the colorful displays. Very welcoming atmosphere. Since this was our 1st time here... it took us a little bit to decide on what we wanted. Luckily, there weren't a lot of people at the time so we took our time, but then again, we were on a time crunch because I wanted to get back to Menya Hanabi at 5:30 PM LOL. Here are the 3 large drinks we got... 1. Lychee fruit tea with lychee 2. Honey milk tea with aloe vera 3. Oolong milk tea with egg pudding All 3 drinks were very good in flavor and taste. However, egg pudding could have been a little bit sweeter. We normally get our drinks with regular sweetness and no ice. Ice tends to water down the original flavor. It's a good thing they didn't take off one or two inches from the top; otherwise, I would have been slightly disappointed. Thank you for keeping it real! Big, fat, and tall cups were used so that's a plus... more to gulp down LOL. Prices are very reasonable. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Ambience was nice and cozy... another romantic spot for lovers and all to enjoy each other's company with wonderful conversations while sipping some delicious drinks. We will definitely be back here to try their other drinks. Get onto their rewards program on your 1st visit or subsequent visits whichever applies... better late than never. I got the Hokkaido Rose Green Milk Tea with boba and half sugar and the mild fried tofu. My total came to about $13, and it didn't take too long for my order to come out. I thought my drink was pretty good! I loved how smooth the tea tasted, and there was a light hint of rose. The drink was lightly creamy because of the Hokkaido. The highlight of the drink was the boba! It was perfectly seasoned with honey and SO CHEWY. I'm delighted to have come across the best boba ever! The crispy tofu was just okay. I wished it were seasoned more with salt and pepper because it lacked that. The mildness wasn't really there either. I got their tofu sauce, which tasted citrusy, like Ponzu sauce. However, it was very crunchy and had a soft and juicy interior! I'm definitely coming back here for their boba! read more

Been coming to this place for years and truly love this OG spot for the food and the drinks- best drinks in the area- everyone we bring here loves it and our kids love it too. They have something for everyone. Been around forever and yet quality is consistently good here. Kumquat honey lemon tea for cold weather months is the best. Any green tea they make with fruit combo is delicious. They do the best three item snack combos in the area, don't bother with the drive thru place. Only Why Thirsty and Au 79 consistently get the popcorn chicken right! The boba places in Arcadia come and go but this place remains. Legit Taiwanese snack food and great drinks, menu has lots of options to choose from (passion fruit green tea!) but also, the most friendly service even during late night hours (Olivia is super sweet)! They'll modify sugar levels ice levels all of that but aren't over priced for watered down drinks like so many other drink shops. Decided to try out Au79 because it was one of the few boba shops that were open late at night. Service was great and the cafe had a nice ambiance, making it a solid study or hangout spot. They also have wifi available and you can either order at the counter, online, or from their self-serve kiosk. We ordered the lychee green tea (less ice, 75% sweetness) & passion fruit mango green tea (less ice, 25% sweetness), which were both very refreshing. I really enjoyed the lychee green tea -- it was slightly bitter but also sweet from the lychee syrup. My gf got the passion fruit mango green tea, which was way too sweet. Even though we ordered 25% sweetness, it still tasted sweeter than my drink :p Overall, Au79 is a solid spot to get boba but they are a bit inconsistent with quality. Their drinks definitely skew on the sweeter side, which seems to be a common theme across reviews, so I recommended adjusting for it accordingly. read more

But there seems to be a lack of communication amongst all staff members. Received an email regarding a tea traveler deal where you buy one and get one 10 dollars off so I thought it would be a great item to get for a Friendsgiving dinner. Called the store to place the order. Cashier has no idea what deal I'm talking about. I told him I received an email and the deal stated it was buy one get one 10 dollars off Keep in mind the email does not state when the deal expires. He sounds confused and says he would need to ask a supervisor. The supervisor says she would need to check and in 10 seconds states it's only for thanksgiving. I told her the deal just states the deal is for thanksgiving season and does not state just one single day. The deal even claims the promo is great for things such as Friendsgiving and company pot lucks and mentions it being for the thanksgiving season. Generally thanksgiving season is seen as the Sunday before thanksgiving to the Sunday after. This was a day after thanksgiving so I wasn't sure why every staff member was so hesitant to offer the deal. As the only lasting Au store you would think making an easy 60-90 dollar transaction would be a no brainer. We decided to order gallon drinks at tastea instead along with other beverages as the staff seemed certain of the deals and promos they had going on. read more

I've been coming here for years, and by years, I mean like 15 years or more. They have really high-quality drinks, and their Boba is always delicious and on point. Their customer service is incredible as well. Whenever they hand, the strings, they request to have us try it in the event that it's not sweet enough or doesn't taste the way we hoped, and then they will adjust it accordingly. I usually go to pick it up, but I've sat down in the past. It's in a plaza that's not too busy, and it has a very large supermarket, so ample parking is available. My favorite go to drinks are always, Jasmine green tea, but I've grown to love their taro as well, because I can't usually have caffeine or dairy. they definitely have as many options as your heart could desire and they are consistently good. Aside from the heaping portion of chicken, it came with assorted veggies and rice. The corn and pickled veggies were fine. I'm pretty sure the corn came from a can.... But, their carrots and broccoli was strangely prepared. They were soft and soggy as you're biting into it, then crunchy as you complete the bite. I didn't like that. I actually passed by this randomly with a friend right before I had to go to a meeting. I didn't want a meal so some popcorn chicken sounded good. It's in the same plaza as Blaze Pizza. I ordered the Passion Fruit Mango GT and she ordered the Passion Fruit Peach GT and we shared the sampler of chicken, tempura, and tofu. And for a random boba shop (I usually just Yelp! to find where to eat and drink as I'm guessing you also do fair reader), it was really good! The chicken we crispy, the tofu was soft inside, the tempura (fish cake) was cooked well! It was all fairly light and I didn't feel greased down after. The only thing I regret was I did 75% sugar. I like my drinks sweeter so I usually do 75 or 100 but their drinks run on the sweeter side. My friend did 0% and it was just about the right amount of sweetness. I saw someone had some sort of slush and that looked amazing. I'll come back and try that next time. Parking is ample in the lot! read more

Did you know that AU79 was the second boba shop in Socal way back in the beginning of the the boba craze. I was here their first day of business I think in 1995 so it will always have a special place in my heart. This was my second home for many many years and I am so embarrassed I never wrote a review for it. It has changed little over the years, offering new drinks time to time but the core quality has stayed the same. I prefer simple tea drinks, their iced green tea, milk tea and strawberry green tea are super solid and continue to be my go tos 30 years later. Came here to study with some friends and we managed to snag a spot on the counter (with outlets on the side!) I wouldn't rely on getting a study spot every time tho since the dine-in area is small and not fully opened when we went. I ordered the high mountain iced tea and it was quite strong with a lot of flavor. My friend ordered the oolong milk tea and it was also very flavorful. Didn't seem artificial at all. Wow, forgot how good AU79 was! Haven't had this place in years and I'm a fan again! The honey green tea is strong and fragrant - perfect if you ask me. I love the they have a self service system for ordering so it's quick and easy. Drinks come out a little slow but not too bad. I order it with 50% ice and oat milk substitution and it comes out exactly the same every single time, gotta love the consistency! I have come here almost every day when I needed a place to study/work on my lunch break. Service is very good, staff is all very professional and very customer-centric. They've always been very friendly and even memorized my order. A few months ago, I came to pick up an order and they told me that a customer ordered a large order of popcorn chicken, but can't make it anymore, so they cancelled the order. So the staff offered it to me for complimentary. I always get their Honey Green Tea, Passion Fruit Green Tea for drinks. Cappuccino is good too. For food, their popcorn chicken is good, and would recommend spicy (not unbearable), and their fries. For meals, I get their wings w/rice, and also their Japanese chicken w/ rice. All very good. For those who grew up in the SGV, this place is the OG hangout spot. It's cool to see this place still thriving during the pandemic. The service was really nice throughout the ordering and drink pick up process. Tea was alright. This time I opted for something lighter with the high mountain tea that was made how I expected. While I personally think there are plenty of solid tea spots in the SGV, AU79 continues to be a stop that does it's job for a tea fix and more so wins in terms of nostalgia rather than uniqueness. This boba place is conveniently located in an Arcadia plaza with a lot of nice restaurants around the corner. I got boba here after lunch - the Hokkaido rose milk tea with half regular boba and full pink boba (to taste test and compare between the two). This place seems to specialize in their pink boba as I don't really see such a thing in many other boba shops here. The regular boba is nicely chewy, but the pink boba is even softer and chewier and slightly sweeter! If I order another drink, I will 100% hands down get their pink boba over the regular boba, especially because it is also cheaper (40 cents for pink boba, 60 cents for regular boba). If you want to do half topping, they are both 30 cents each, so you may as well go for the full serving of pink boba in the drink. The tea itself is good but could be more fragrant and powerful. The regular boba does have some small misses as some of them are just clumped together. I opted for 50% sweetness and it was the right amount. This place is good but not impressive, but it is worth a visit for their pink boba topping. read more
