Started out awful, and ended great. Please note they just changed their manager there, making all the difference in the world. The original salesman, who is still there and should be fired, overcharged me, lied to me about a free upgrade to a larger backup camera screen, and didn't really get me what I had asked for. I went in for a new Bluetooth stereo with a backup camera. They had an in-dash JVC, which I didn't want, so I took the removeable faceplate Kenwood that was on sale, and an optional back up camera with a tiny screen. He could have offered me the in-dash Kenwood with the big screen, but never did. The salesman also wrote a note on my receipt and told me they would upgrade me to the larger screen for the back up camera when it came in in a week or two. Additionally, they never set my stereo controls, which they state they'll do, so it sounded much worse than expected, due to my lack of knowledge about the advanced settings. That's what I expected the 'expert' to do. Two days after leaving there, I realized they had cracked my wood grain dashboard. I couldn't see it from driver's side as it was on the passenger side. I figured they wouldn't repair it because I had not noticed it right away and did not take it back for a while. I went back after IAN had become manager. GREAT guy! Upgraded me to the in-dash Kenwood with the large backup screen, Told me the first salesman had misrepresented the truth, because there would be no larger screens available than the one he had sold me, and charged me less than the difference due to the original salesperson ripping me off on both the camera and over-dash screen. He told me he had specifically been brought in from another store to fix all the mistakes going on at this one, and clearly he is trying to do so for his customers. He also sent MANNY, another great guy, to get me the replacement dash parts. Kia no longer made them, so he called three junkyards, and found me replacements which look brand new. IAN also assured that they set the stereo correctly, showed me how to work it, and was apologetic, professional and courteous. He is an excellent manager who knows to put people first. I had had it with Audio Express and planned to boycott them, and tell everyone I know not to go there. Now, the opposite is true. Go to the Gilbert Road Audio Express, make sure Ian helps you, or MANNY, and you'll get excellent service and excellent sound. read more

This place is HORRIBLE! They bait and switch you first of all and never have the promised deals. The employees are all Ex cons I'm sure including the scumbag management. Terrible, no, actually zero customer service. They act like they are doing you a favor to take your business. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had to give it one star because it won't let me post with zero stars. In all fairness to any current employees or management my experience was 2 years ago. My wife just suggested using them to install a system that was gifted to us and it made me remember my awful experience. read more

I came to get a new sub and a new amp for my since my old amp is lacking power and my new sub is cracking constantly. They sold me a new Kicker "12 sub and a new Kicker amp. They sound great, however, the overall service and communication was terrible. They told me they'd build a custom box for it (which they did) however they didn't tell me they were going to just stick it in my car free to roll slide around. Someone could easily steal it, what were you people thinking. Very fucking displeased with the installation. They never told me they were going to put it there AND they left my old sub still in, probably attached to the old amp because it still fucking crackles. I don't want that old sub in there! I will be going somewhere else to get my car done the way I want it done, with the OLD sub and OLD amp removed and the new sub installed properly. I advise you, if you are reading this, NEVER come here. UPDATE: Nothing I'm saying is incorrect, I do not want to come back here and there are not 3 sides of the story because I've only dealt with 1 person? Short and sweet, please do not spend your money here. I have never felt so uncomfortable walking into a store. The staff I encountered was awful, BESTBUY @ Fiesta Mall had better pricing and the service guy was UNBELIEVABLE!! Dear sales department at gilbert location, customers service is a FREE skill you should learn and use all day everyday. My wife and I both agreed that we felt very unwelcome, we were just trying to spend our money on a new dash touch screen, too bad we had to give our money to best buy. Boooo audio express. Purchase: Viper 5806 Two-way alarm w/ install. Store Experience: Walk in looking for an alarm system and was greeted with the utmost greatest experience of costumer service. Kevin and the manager Ian was able to direct me to a product that suited my needs rather than try to upsell me to the most expensive system there was. They are genuinely there to help and not there make a quick buck off of you. Thats what I appreciated the most. Alongside that was patience to answer every question and concern I had, and trust me I had a lot of questions. Install: Dropped the car off in the morning and received a call back 2 hours later that the install was complete. Upon inspection, there was no corners cut in this installation. Everything was tucked and hidden nicely! I will admit, I'm one that worries about leaving my car in the hands of others but honestly after this experience I wouldn't hesitate to leave my car in the hands of Audio Express Gilbert. Overall, I would definitely recommend Audio Express Gilbert to everyone who's looking to upgrade any electrical component in their car. read more

I don't know much about car stereo installation but I know what I like in a sound system. I absolutely did NOT want my modest car to sound like there was a trash can in the trunk, but I wanted a good thump for my music. I went to Audio Express' flagship store in Mesa solely based on location. When I called, I spoke with Lee about my situation. At the time, I was still car shopping but I was confident that by weekend's end, I would have one. We were originally scheduled for Saturday, but I had to cancel when the car I was trying to buy fell through. I found and purchased a car Saturday, and called for a Sunday appointment only to be told that Sunday was booked solid. He asked if I could possibly do Tuesday and I said I could do Wednesday after work. He promised to have me out the door by close of business. Got there and was shown the various equipment that I would be purchasing. All of it was standard and I had researched it prior to this appointment. I had a new deck, a 10" Sub, and an amp installed. He asked if we'd be replacing the speakers to which I said no. I went to the Japanese place around the corner for dinner, and an hour later, my car was ready to go. To say service was fast is a HUGE understatement. Lee then found me, walking around the corner with my magazine and told me I was all ready to go. He took me out to my car, introduced me to the sound system and made her THUMP like I had only ever dreamed of. I prefer a much more modest sound though so after a while, I turned the sub down and got a great sound. He even complimented my speakers. Getting home, I showed it to my husband and he thoroughly inspected it, finding a great install job and great sound with no trash can in the trunk! I am in love with my new system. Highly impressed with the attentiveness of the entire staff at the store as well as their ability to diagnose and recommend/install the proper audio equipment. Steven/Steve assisted me with my car audio system. I came in believing it was blown speakers as well as a cracked sub. Steven was able to determine with his crew that it wasn't the speakers, but the amplifier had become faulty over time and wasn't allowing all of the speakers to properly function. Steven was upfront and honest the speakers were functioning to their potential and recommended only replacing the sub and amplifier. He called me to make this recommendation as he was very attentive and informative at every step along the way. Steven offered me discounted prices on the equipment without me even asking. After the amplifier and sub were installed my car is sounding better than it did when the initial amp was put in a couple years ago. I couldn't be happier with the professionalism, honesty, and quality I received from this store with the help I received from Steven and the rest of the crew. My Thump Thump went out and I went back to the only place I knew could fix it and Manny took the best care possible first testing my speakers, amps, fuses, only to find out a speaker and amp were dead :( Manny suggested to me the best product and replacement options for the funds I had available.... The problem with Audio Express is they have sales people that are trying to make a living and the high pressure sales causes certain sales people to not be exactly forthright. My 1at experience was with a schmoozer. My 2nd was not. So make sure you ask the right questions and do research for yourself. Your OWN knowledge will help you through the sales pitches. Over all you get what you pay for. They have great quality audio gear. read more

The guys here have been nothing but amazing! I went in requesting a backup camera for my Ford F-150. Matthew greeted me professionally and took me through all my options with no pressure whatsoever. He tried to understand what I was looking for by asking thoughtful questions. They put together a package deal that met everything I was looking for at a price I felt was reasonable. He was in constant communication as my parts were installed and when they hit an unforeseen snag, presented me again with all my options without any pressure. I was very happy when I left that day. As an update two weeks later I had an issue trying to get the Apple CarPlay to work in my truck. I brought it back in to see what could be done. They immediately took charge of the problem and went way above and beyond my expectations in resolving the problem. Matthew was again there and went and sat in my truck and went over everything with me until he and I felt completely comfortable that my problem had been resolved. These guys did a great job. Got 2 JL Audio 10's installed. The only good HO box they had on the floor had 2 JL W0's and we were getting higher end JL's in but wanted that box. They uninstalled the W0's and put our higher level 10's in. Clean installation, great sound and the service was great. They put this in on the spot and got my truck back to us within 4 hours of walking in the store. read more

Purchased a stereo (Kenwood Excellon) and had it installed. I thought the service was good and it was installed in a few hours, which is what they told me up front. The only thing I didn't care for was that they included a warranty and other fees without asking if I wanted to add that feature. Who does that? I bought a pair of speakers for my truck and then I sold the truck a day later. I no longer needed the speakers, so I brought them backed unopened in perfect condition with a reciept and the guy refused to refund me. He said it was their policy not to do ANY cash refunds. So I asked for store credit, and he said that he couldn't give me store credit but I could exchange the speakers. I then said, ..."well, I don't need anything right now, maybe when I get my new vehicle", he said "Nope, we can't have open credit out there"...What does that even mean?? So he sent me away with the speakers. I'll never take my business there again. What a joke of a return policy. I could understand if I didn't have a reciept, but 2 days later with a reciept...no refund,..ridiculous. I will say that I had them install my car stereo and it works good, but I just can't get past there whole attitude on returns. It's bad business. read more

I contacted Audio Express today because I needed to have a stereo removed from my truck and the stock one put back in due to the fact that I'm selling it. I immediately received excellent customer service over the phone and they advised me that they could get it done today if I could bring my truck in right away! Upon arriving at the store I was greeted by the manager Ian who was incredibly knowledgeable, tentative to my needs and super friendly. I was pleased that I was able to work on my laptop while I waited because they have a nice large waiting room with Wi-Fi. I was also pleasantly surprised at how quickly they completed the job along with the fact that they carefully repacked all of my wires and radio equipment back in the original box making it look like it was a brand new product! The price was very fair, the customer service was top notch, the installers were very competent and the actual store ended up being a nice place to wait for my truck to get done. Because I had such a positive experience, I'll be checking with Audio Express for any of my audio or installation needs going forward! read more

I went to audio express last week to put the key remote for my chevrolet impala. when I left the car there, everything of the car was in excellent condition. but when I picked up my car about 4 hours later, the check light was on, the gas meter didn't work, the windshield was broken and when open or close the door, there will be about 30 seconds noise beside the front passenger seat. when I talked to audio express about the problems, they were very rude and didn't admit their fault. they just said they didn't know about the new problems, let me believe them without any provable documents. they also talked to me that believe or not, up to me, they didn't care. And they also didn't allow me look at the camera to make sure if their fault. when I drived to my home, I found another problem in my car that there were four points broken in the rear seats. I think they used my car to load a very big and heavy object when I dropped off my car there. I will sue them this week for what they did. the worst store I ever gone, and never go there again!!! read more

UPDATE: So the next day i get a call from Ian the manager taking full responsibility for the time discrepancy and offered to add a feature to my alarm at no charge. I bring my car in and Ian apologizes again and gives me a 1hr1/2 estimate for the install. While in the store i decided to purchase a Kenwood receiver. Ian was very informative about the different receivers and gave some good firsthand insight on them. The install for both items took less than 2hrs and so far everything looks good. I appreciate Ians attempt at rectifying my less than stellar first time their but i will say if they keep up with what they did the second visit, i will be back. This place was recommended to me by a friend who got his security system from them a few years ago. I get their at around 1:30p. I look around and settled on a Viper alarm. The salesperson rings up the sale i pay and sign the receipt and before i give him my keys i go out to my car to get my headphones because he said it would be 3-31/2 hrs. I come back into the store and hand him my keys the salesperson then tells me "Uh my manager saw what kind of key you have and it has a chip in it so i have to charge you $120.00 more for a different mod". I understand mistakes happen but a $120.00 one is a bit excessive. I remove the 1yr remote replacement for $30.00 and was able to afford the "Needed mod". I say to the Manager "Doesn't me paying and signing my signature and you giving me a receipt mean anything anymore" he responds " Well we can give you a refund but we can't give our stuff away for free". I didn't ask for anything free just some accountability for this large oversight.I leave and come back 3 1/2 hrs later thinking my car would be ready. The salesperson says "oh they're finishing up" I respond " so it's like 4 hrs instead of 3-3/12". I go outside and wait. 30 minutes go by and no car. 60mins go by and no car. I call off from work because it's obvious the 3 -31/2 hr estimate was wrong. 1hr and 30 mins go by and no car. I go back inside and ask about my car again and the salesperson says "Oh they're finishing up". I explain to the salesperson i had to call off from work because according to the sales person who sold me the alarm , i would be able to get it done in time to make it to work...Nope. A salesperson who was out in the parking lot playing football while i was waiting says" That's why i tell customers 3-6hrs" I told him if i was told that i would of come back the next day. I go outside and wait and one of the techs finally pulls up with my car. A salesperson comes out shows me how to use the remote and that's it, no apology for the inconvenience or nothing.I had to pay more out of pocket for my alarm when i was already quoted a price, then i had to call off from work because they took longer than what they said. 120.00 extra for a mod and 160.00 dollars in lost wages just to get an alarm. this is the second time i went to audio express for a stereo in one of my vehicles. this time was a better experience than the first, even tho the first time was pleasant that location was in tempe and about 5-6 years ago. here, i chose which stereo i wanted told the sales guy and he didn't try to steer me away to a more expensive one. i had homework to do so i went to a close by restaurant to eat and study. about an hour later i received a call that my truck was ready to go! they were quick friendly and did good work. read more

Well when I went in to have equipment installed I was promised that it would work lee the salesman proceeded to tell my autistic 3 year old that he could watch a movie on the way home. Turns out that he than came back saying that I needed a special kind of headphone for the DVD player and that he would get back to me the next day with a delivery date. He never called so I called and was told that I needed to come in so I did and than I was told that they weren't even sure that he ordered themAt all and that I needed a whole new drop down DVD player for my van so I went back in and spent two hours trying to get it to work out so that we could put it in. I than asked how long it was going to take so that I knew if I needed to postpone in order to make it to my daughters birthday party. Marco told me 1 and 1/2 hours and I could still get to my daughters birthday party but it really took them close to 3 hours meaning I was an hour late to her party and in the process of putting in the When I went in originally the drop down in my van worked perfectly fine they started putting in the radio and messed up the screen. So I went in and that two hours at the counter Marco did nothing and I had to set up another account in order to fix something thDVD player they screwed up my antenna on my brand new radio. Marco was rude and so was Jayson every time that I asked how much longer it was going to be. at your techs broke in the first place acting like it wasn't me that had to pay the extra $174 read more

Worst customer service ever. Ignorant staff, long installation process and then installed the wrong device. When I asked them to uninstall and refund my money the manager told me I would have to bring my car back and then I would be refunded the cost of the device but I would still have to pay for service. I would NEVER, EVER go there again and I would NEVER, EVER recommend this place unless you have between 3 to 15 hrs (YES I AM NOT KIDDING YOU) time to sit and waste your weekend away. I was there at 10ish AM to have ONE stereo installed. It took 4 hours. Another man was there for the 2ND time today, he waited 5 hours to have something fixed that they messed up when he went there last week and he wasted 10 HOURS..NO KIDDING 10 FREAKIN' HOURS. Also the price from my phonecall to my getting there went up. Had to talk the sales guy back down. They are VERY QUICK to sell but once they have the sale closed, they do not care that you sit and wait majority of your day. This was my weekend and I still had to go to the bank WHICH OF COURSE WAS CLOSED ONCE AUDIO EXPRESS WAS DONE WITH ME and my bank is 1 hours from where I actually live. In my opinion this was a nightmare par excellence. There was NOTHING EXPRESS about getting the Audio at that place. Go somewhere else. Just a little tip there. If you have customers waiting between 4 and 10 hours in one stretch, do you think some complimentary coffee and water and soda may be in order ? Just terrible, terrible. read more

He took the time to listen to what I was looking for and didn't try to give me anything I wasn't asking for. NO PRESSURE!! He took the time to explain the ins and outs of what I purchased and also followed up to make sure everything was working to my satisfaction. Well I do not work for any of your competition. I had been a forgiving customer of audio express for around 6 months, until I found out that the products I had been using were over $100 cheaper elsewhere, and were prone to failure. The in store salesman I dealt with treated me like I had no clue what I was buying or doing. Well my trophy collection speaks volumes in the car audio competition lanes. MECA, USACi, and DB Drag, so apparently for the past 16+ years I've been right about everything your staff tried telling me I was wrong about. My 1st place collection has grown significantly since avoiding business with audio express, and my awards and recognitions have surpassed even my expectations. I prefer to be treated with respect, and acknowledged for my intelligence, and that is something I never got from your Mesa, AZ staff. Your GM (or store manager) was not only rude, but insulting as well. But thanks for your attempt to save face via yelp. I'll continue to succeed at everything I do. Without your unintelligent staff holding me back. Oh, and your salesman should try harder to maintain the same name, the same guy three different times gave me a different name. Well I was able to return the alpines that didn't work well with my car. I used the money I spent on the alpine to get store credit to help me get 2 10" JL audio subwoofers and a JL amp. I wish I hadn't spent the money now in the first place but at least I was able to manage to get a much better product down the road. I was helped by Manny who was a nice guy and he helped me decide which subs I wanted. However, since these guys lost my trust in installing speakers, I went to another car audio store on Guadalupe to have the subs and amp installed. The subs work great and I'm glad that audio express was able to accept my return at full price. read more
