This is a great little spot and the ladies there were all very kind. I walked in and was taken care of right away. The salon is very clean and they had a lot of polish choices. I thought my manicurist did a great job! My only note is that I didn't know it was cash only tip (I looked and didn't see one but on checking out I saw it very small, framed in a corner. It was blocked by someone checking out when I came in.) I really hate when salons do this because i think it's unfair to the employees. Also, if you do I think they should tell you up front or have multiple signs. Otherwise great place! read more

This review is extremely overdue. I've been coming to Aura since it originally opened. Growing up in fairfax, I had never been loyal to one specific nail salon as none had ever wowed me before. That all changed when I went to aura - now I'll never go to any other salon! SNS truly combines the best attributes of both gel and acrylic nails. Your nails look slightly thicker, the color lasts forever, and yet your nails still look natural. Everyone here is awesome so it really doesn't matter what nail tech you get (however if I had to pick favorites I would say Tina and Tommy are my favorite for nails and Helen is my favorite for pedicures). read more

I went with a friend and my friends experience was great, that is why this gets 2 stars. We both got SNS manicures but had completely different experiences. But, my personal experience would by 1 stars max. First, my friend liked her experience, she had Nancy and Nancy was pleasant and very knowledgeable about colors and provided a great manicure to my friend. She was very pleased with her experience. On the other hand I had a completely different experience. My tech did not have a name tag and I am not sure who it was. In regards to SNS, the manicure itself came out meh. I have had much better, it just looks dull. The polish itself was not doesn't appear to have as many layers as it normally should & my technician left some nails looking bubble-ish and not even compared to the rest. Also, the worst part if she kept burning my cuticles. Whenever she used the electric nail filer I am not sure what she was doing but it would touch my cuticles and sometimes just my nail and it would burn me and I would flinch. She would apologize and hold my nail for a second, but she kept doing it. It kept me on edge the whole time and I would say I got that burning feeling about 7-8 times during the manicure. I don't think I will go back here, but if I happen to I will ensure I do not go to whoever it was I went to last time, I wish I had her name, but again she had no name tag and if I ever go again(not likely) I will not go back to the same person. read more

I asked for the $47 Aura's Spa pedicure but the technician misunderstood and gave me the Earth pedicure for $55. I didn't know that he misunderstood, so I told the the cashier I got the Aura's Spa because that's what I believed happened. He didn't believe me and went to the technician, and the technician told him it was the $55 Earth pedicure. So they charged me $55, and I tipped the technician less. Then, the cashier said, thanks for leaving a tip for him. The fact that the cashier somehow suspected that I didn't get the pedicure that I said I got makes me think there's a scam going on here. It also tells me that the nail place is willing to sacrifice tips for technicians just to be able to charge customers more, which is totally wack. And the difference was only $8. My roommate said the same thing happened to her, she ordered a cheaper pedicure and they charged her for a more expensive one and then made her pay for it. So if you don't want to be scammed, make sure you say your price ahead of time or just go somewhere else. I was a loyal customer because I liked how clean this place was and how close to my apartment it was, but now I'll be going to more honest nail salons. read more

I have been at this salon couple of times for pedi and SNS so I think I can write a review on my overall opinion. Salon is beautiful and they have water, sodas, and teas and a lot of space so you don't have to wait they will seat you right away but then problems start. Last time I was there I got my nails wraped in foil and because technician was working on another client I was left waiting and waiting and waiting for good 30 minutes. Finally someone came to start working on my nails and I don't know what it is but doing your nails should be a relaxing thing but everytime they eather cut me or scratch me so I end up bleeding, they are busy so they rush you because they need to start working on somebody else who has been waiting for 30 minutes also. Not all ladies are nice there because on my last 2 visits when I tell them I don't like the shape they rolled they eyes, one said "well from my side it looks fine no one is looking from your side". On my last visit I got my sns and pedi and both started chiping after 7 days plus my big toe was hurting so much after I couldn't put my shoe on because technician cut me. So now bottom of my finger nails is catching my hair which is super annoying so this will be my last visit. PS they are really pricey I paid $140 plus tip and it is not worth it, they charge $55 for sns, around $50 for basic pedi, $20 gel on your toes. Just go to aqua nails couple streets down they are doing amazing and you won't pay as much ! read more

SNS. Tommy - enough said. SNS is great, lasts almost 3-4 weeks on me, which I wash my hands a LOT and gel used to easily peel before even 2 weeks was up for me. Color selection is great, though annoying that they are in letter/number codes instead of fun, easy to remember names. I keep a cheat list on my phone of favorite colors and write tips to remember for future visits. Few of my favorites are: SC24- a good white, light pink color, 347 - gray, SC11 - fun coral 'Miami' pink, SC5 - taupe, 187 - bright, fire engine red, 367 - cobalt blue, A61 - similar to OPI 'Taupeless Beach', 503 - light, semi shimmered pink. Helen is awesome for pedicures as well! Lots of pedicure options with scents/scrubs, I like the green tea/mud clay one I believe. They do paraffin as well on your feet, which I love. Cash only tips, and lots of drink options - try the ginger tea! read more

I was searching for new places to get my nails done since my usual place is always overcrowded and not relaxing. Came to Aura and can say I will never return to my old place. Aura was so calm, efficient, and easy. I got an acrylic refill and my nails look great. They offered me a shoulder massage and a complimentary drink as soon as I sat down. I have also never had a place give me a hand massage with acrylic but I loved it! They also showed me the coat closet and ATM in the back (can only tip in cash). They did a great job on the pedicures my sister and I had! I had Monica and she had Cece, and we loved them both! Monica noticed I had ingrown and offered to trim them for me, which I really appreciated since it can be too painful for me to do on my own, and always makes me nervous going for a pedicure (if they don't cut the nail right it can make it worse and/or infected). I was pleasantly surprised by Aura. After my nail salon closed a couple of months ago I have tried others in the area and haven't found any I've liked but I saw the reviews and decided to walk a little further away from the plethora of salons near my apartment and was rewarded for it. I called ahead to see if they had a gel mani and pedi slot and they were able to fit me in 15 mins later. My tech did a beautiful job on my toes and my nails, with great massages. They have a great gel color choice and the largest SNS color selection i have seen. I would go back in a heart beat. read more

Aura Day spa has the best mani/pedi I've ever had. They have impeccable service and are polite and friendly! Their attention to detail in both the manicure and pedicure was impressive. Aura Day spa offers a variety of colors. I was very satisfied with my tiramisu OPI gel nails and pompeii purple gel pedicure. The nails have chipped a couple weeks in but the pedicure is going strong. Also, if you like ginger, I highly recommend their ginger tea! FYI If you check in, there is a $5 off coupon for their gels. This place is just a gem! So not your typical "nail salon experience"! The customer service truly is above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. They are always very helpful and attentive. Favorite nail spot in Arlington! I started coming here in March because like you I was reading Yelp reviews. I had dip or SNS nails back in TX and I hadn't found a salon here that did it, until Aura. I kid you not when I say I haven't broken a nail since my first visit, and my nails grow and are so long! I like to wear the coffin shaped and the crew here does a great job. The SNS last me sometimes 4 weeks. I don't like to go that long in between, but I travel for work and sometimes, that's just what happens. I really like the ginger tea they offer you. The pedicures are so relaxing, I always feel like they take their time, are concerned with the details and focus on making you have a great experience. I usually get the green tea spa pedicure; it's one of my favorites, but they are all good! read more

I've been going to this salon for about 6 months now. Most of the time I am very satisfied with my SNS. Some technicians are better than others but usually my nails stay on at least 2 weeks. S/O to Sam. She rocks. Today, I went to have my SNS refilled and I was brought to tears. My technician used a knife looking file to slip underneath my SNS and rip it off. In the extremely painful process, she also ripped off much of my nails leaving them very thin and broken. The manager saw this happen and came over to tell her to stop using that tool. I thought that would resolve the problem but instead she kept doing the same thing. I finally had to pull my hand away and ask the front desk to get me a new technician. I'm writing this about 5 hours after my appointment and my nails on that hand that she destroyed STILL burn. Even though I was given a new technician, at the end I was offered a measly 10% discount (saving me $5) after spending $55 with tip. My experience was painful and traumatizing and I do not think that management handled this situation correctly. Even though I loved this place, the thought of having that same technician again might prevent me from returning.. Beware of your technician. read more

I've come in twice, both walk-ins where they were very accommodating! I love the customer service and the decor. It can get a bit pricy, depending on which service you purchase, but well worth it. Always a thorough job with painting, clean utensils (they pop open a new pack when they start your appointment), and ridiculously friendly staff. Not only are they forever patient whenever I inevitably smudge my nails while they dry, they go the extra mile of making sure I'm comfortable. At times going as far as to offer to help me put my jacket on when they notice I'm nervous about potentially smudging my nails again. Do yourself a favor, and give this place a try. The only time I had a bad experience was when my nails fell off on the day of my wedding and when the receptionist was also multitasking doing the sns nails and the front desk. Tip for management don't let her do two tasks at the same time. She forgot about me, asked me multiple times what colors I wanted despite that I had laid it out from the moment I stepped in. After more than 39 min wait I asked for a different technician because she could not focus on doing my nails. By the time I had a new technician, I still was not provided with the sns powder I picked so the new technician had to get the powder while this could have been done by the receptionist/technician when she had seated me and was setting up to do my nails. read more

This has been my go to nail shop for a few years now. I work around the corner so it's easier to run out for lunch, get my nails done and go back to work. I have gone to several of the nail techs at Aura and they're all good. I get the SNS and from time to time will get a pedicure, however, their pedi's can be a little pricey if you get the deluxe. My go to girls are Uyen and Z. A few of my co-workers have gone to other ladies and for the most part I think they're all good. The atmosphere is very tranquil and has a spa feel. Checked this place out because of the high reviews and I was in the general area. So glad I did! This will be my new go to spot! They have so many colors to choose from! She helped me select my colors and told me pricing upfront before she did anything. Which made me change my mind and go for a less expensive look but one that I whole heatedly love! If you choose more than two colors it's $5 after the second color per color. So I decided to only go with two colors to keep the cost lower. And I appreciated she let me know that. Then she brought me an awesome color that I'm so happy with! My one teeny tiny complaint is my colors are red and white and the white on one of the nails has a little bit of red in it. Bit other then that so happy! Oh and they only take cash for tips but have an ATM in the building! One thing I cannot stand for in nail salons is when they only take cash but have no atm! Love this place! It is downstairs from my apartment so it's super convenient. But, more importantly, the service here is fantastic! Every nail tech is super friendly. Sydney, the person who works as the receptionist, knows my name and knows how I ALWAYS get the same thing...same pedicure, same color on my SNS nails. When I got a different pedicure and color the other day, she told me that she was proud of me for trying something new! For pedicures, it is more expensive but I always get the Happy Hour or Peppermint pedicures. It costs $65 but you get at least a 45 minute massage on your calves and feet and for me, it's worth it to pay the extra amount for a more relaxing experience. Seriously, I almost always end up taking a small nap while they are massaging my legs. read more

You could see my nails through the paint still! It also got messed up because of the flip flops they gave me and he seemed annoyed to fix it! When he did my dip nails they were thick and not even! Was a walk-in appt tonight and was immediately serviced and offered tea, water or soda. Atmosphere was super quiet with only classical music breaking the silence (despite almost all chairs taken) while relaxing, a bit errie too - I kind of missed the girl talk. Mindy was great in precisely painting my nails, never needing to correct. Not completely five stars cause price for gel removal and regular no frills Mani was $30, which was a tad expensive (and not sure what was cost of pedi vs gel removal - someone earlier mentioned a $20 Mani which means $10 for gel removal?!) I was looking for a new salon and I and happy to say I have found my new one. Being allergic to acrylic I am required to use gel or silks. Silks are just not strong enough and the UV lighting for gels concerns me. When I arrived Tina explained to me what SNS Nails are and I couldn't be more excited about my new nails. Organic product with vitamins and calcium and no smelly chemicals or UV lights required.
