So I rarely leave reviews, but I feel like this I needed to be told. I just bought a vehicle from this location. My sales man was Tony. Very nice welcome and great experience until the third day I had the car when it broke down on the side of the road... up in flames and smoke. I contacted the dealership and it took them three weeks to fix... I am a single mother with four children not having a car for three weeks was extremely, and I mean extremely difficult. And as I had just purchased that car, I didn't have money for Uber's etc.. (10,500 is what the cost of the car was) Well, I got the car back after three weeks and it seem to be working fine until a week later when it broke down again. Returned the car to the dealership and they kept it for a week and when I got it back, the AC still is not working and the driver seat doesn't move frontwards or backwards or recline so it's stuck super close to the steering wheel and they haven't fixed at either. Fast forward two weeks... in the car breaks down again!! at this point the car is been in the shop more than I've been able to even drive it! I contacted Subaru and Subaru is not being very helpful and at this point I am wanting to exchange the car I just paid $10,000 for, for an anything else as long as it was dependable! Well come to find out they are only offering me $3000 trade-in value on the car. I just purchased for 10 five that has not worked at all since the day I got it. Do not do business here I repeat, do not do business here. They are completely unsupportive once you hand over your credit card. And not to mention my family has purchased multiple cars from this location all brand new so you would think that they would be a little helpful in this situation. And let me remind you I have four kids I'm a single mom I own my own business I need to get the kids to school I need to get to work etc. etc. so being without a car is detrimental to my day to day. Subaru has cost me numerous clientele as I had a missed so many appointments because I've been broken down on the side of the road so often.... So I've missed money. My kids of missed appointments. We bought our Subaru Forester in 2022 and it has been one of the best investments to date. I wish I had wrote a review back then but because it's been awhile, I can't recall the details other than Ethan (who sold us the car) was wonderful to work with and Jesse (who gave me a tutorial of the car) was incredibly thorough and patient with my questions. Since our purchase, we've used Austin Subaru for oil change and routine maintenance visits. Our most recent visit reminded me of why we love Austin Subaru so much. They have a great team of workers (SHOUT OUT TO GABRIEL), free wifi, an incredibly cafe (with free coffee, teas, water, treats), outdoor work space, and complimentary Lyfts while your car is serviced. I came in ready to buy a car. It was hard to convince me not to. So, hubby and I drive up, sign in, and meet Burak. He never asked my name. This review will be the first he learns of it. I made it abundantly clear that this would be my vehicle. He didn't care. He didn't do any sales discovery other than to ask one question "What do you want?" Well, how about you ask me if the car is for work or pleasure. If we have children. Pets. Why am I trading in my current vehicle. You know, basic questions you would expect anyone to ask. His mask did not cover his nose. I asked him to please adjust it as we were closer than 6 feet. He did. It fell again seconds later. I asked again, he complied again, only to begin telling me his personal disagreement with the whole mask thing. In am not here to listen to your political views or denial regarding a global pandemic, I am here to buy a car. I asked if he could find a better fitting mask for the test drive. He rolled his eyes. When we got to the car he asked if I had my license with me. I replied yes, thinking now he will know my name. Nope, he did not ask to see it. That has to be some insurance violation there. Then he walked away leaving us standing near the car in 100+ degree heat, but he took the keys so we had to stand outside melting while he got a plate. He said before we get in the car he had to tell me about some horizontal piston crap which is of no interest to me. On and on he went. I interrupted him saying I am uncomfortably hot and would like to turn the car and AC on. He told me I can do that when he is done. Boy is he annoying me, but I really want this damn car. Then he hopped in the front seat, next to me, and continued talking about things that were of no interest to me. We did our research at home, I just want to buy the damn car. And, please Burak, would you sit in the back seat, you are closer than 6 feet. Again with the eye roll as he begrudgingly moved. We got back to the office, and Burak be damned, I am still planning on buying this car. He told me the deal he could give me if I buy is SO much better than if I lease. Ok. fine. He then quoted me $28,569 for a 2020 Forrester - the exact price listed on the website. I said I would like to see the details of the pricing to which he replied that he is very good at his job and sells a lot of cars, yet he offers no clarification or details. Thanks just the same, at this point, I just want to get the hell out of there. I'll wait a month or two and get a 2021 for the same price. But it will be from someone who asks my name. Who asks what I am interested in and why. Who respects masks and social distancing. Who wants my repeat business and my referrals. That's the person who is very good at their job and will earn my loyalty. I wonder if anyone like that works at Austin Subaru or if they are all like Burak. read more

Got my Subaru Outback a couple months ago with Edwin he was super nice and professional. When I went to go get an oil change they had a complete coffee bar with a barista and drinks in coolers. The best part is that they're PET FRIENDLY, lots of people had their dogs, and I think they even have a dealership dog thats always there... I was able to do a walk in oil change with a 3 hour wait, which is expected for a walk in since I couldn't get an appointment for a couple of weeks. read more

I reached out to Austin Subaru about a used Jeep I'd seen online that I was interested in. I was connected with Kori Smith who told me the Jeep was still available, mind you I live in Dallas, TX about 3 hours away so I couldn't come to get the Jeep until Monday because of the holiday. Kori told me she'd let me know if the Jeep sold on Friday and that if it didn't it would be available Monday when they open at 10am since they're closed Saturday and Sunday for the Christmas holiday. So I travel to Austin Sunday night/Christmas so I can go get the Jeep first thing Monday morning. I get a text from Kori Monday morning as I'm getting dressed saying they're is a pending offer on the Jeep. Apparently they actually opened at 8am but she probably didn't want to come in early so she told me to meet her at 10am, go figure. Are you kidding me you didn't pull the vehicle or even ask me for a deposit which I would've been more than happy to do to hold it for me since you know I'm coming all the way from Dallas. Obviously I'm furious since I came all the way from Dallas to purchase this specific vehicle and her solution is to ask me if they're is another vehicle I'm interested in. I spoke with the sales manager to express my frustration and of course they're isn't anything she can do. But this type of behavior shows the lack of morals and integrity Subaru Austin has and I would be cautious of doing any business with them. Update: the sales manager called me back and offered to pay for my plane ticket back to Dallas, which I appreciated but declined the offer. As far as Kori Smith, once I responded to her text letting her know I wasn't interested in another vehicle at Subaru Austin she stopped responding. Keep in mind this is through text message, she didn't even reach out via phone call to apologize for traveling all the way from Dallas on Christmas or to check how I would be getting back since I didn't have the car I'd came to purchase. Kori simply didn't care, if you're not buying a car from her you aren't important and don't matter. I am documenting my concerns, and ownership events that I have endured since owning a Subaru. Multiple occasions in which I have encountered poor experiences with service at Austin Subaru since the acquisition of my first vehicle with the manufacturer - April 2021. Although in the beginning the experience in sales was great as expected, I was assured that I also would be satisfied with the service as well. - Appointment availability is normally booked out 30+ days out. Due to volume of customers and low capacity of technician bays - Express service although arriving early to wait on vehicle is typically a 2-hour duration upon completion if you do not have an appointment. - Complimentary maintenance program when purchasing a new vehicle has it's stipulations as to what is not included according to select service advisors. (Engine Air Filter, 4-Wheel Alignment - Video consultation performed with each complimentary multi-point inspection not completed with service interval visit for 02.27. - Service Advisor : Donovan Rybachek unable to assist with delivery after maintenance completion due to leaving on short notice. Only receptionist assisted with vehicle pick-up, and no availabile service advisors upon arrival. On a positive note, the service director Gus Hoelscher, and his service manager Tony Ochoa has been supportive with the inadequate space in the garage to properly maintain the volume of clients at Austin Subaru read more

Austin Subaru has done it again! My boyfriend had an engine replacement completed by this dealership back in Nov 2018. I finally gave in and purchased my very first Subaru this month (Mar 2019) due to 3 reasons. 1. The amazing customer service we received during the engine replacement process for our other car (not a fault of Subaru) 2. I was in dire need of new vehicle 3. I wanted a Subaru and wanted to buy from the best dealer in our town!! Subaru Austin goes above and beyond for their clients. They treat every client (used buyers and new car buyers) the exact same way, exceptional! I love that there's not a "used lot vs. New lot" sites which which makes you feel as appreciated as customer as the new car buyers will feel. My entire car purchase took less than 3 hrs and I was driving away in my new vehicle by 6pm on a Friday night. I tried to buy my leased vehicle from this location and they said it would cost over $600 in fees. I called the bank and they said they would charge me $50. I relayed to the guys at Subaru and they said that is just the bank fee and I would have to pay for smog check, registration, license plates, etc. I relayed that I had just renewed the registration and all of those things and they told me how I would have to do it again and deal with a massive amount of headaches to buy my vehicle on my own. After an hour of them talking down to me about how these were all hard Costs I walked out. I bought my vehicle on my own directly from the bank. It took me 15 min at a title transfer company and cost under $100. The Subaru guys are liars. read more

Had a pretty good experience buying a new car here. My salesperson and the vibe overall were certainly low-pressure. I'm used to the stereotypical sales tactics and this time around I had to be the persistent one. If that sounds like a complaint I guess it just goes to show that there's just no pleasing people like me who want to have their cake and eat it too. I'll take a low-pressure approach every time, for the record. I got a fair offer on my trade-in, a price below MSRP, and the closing paperwork process was fairly smooth if a little slow. I just completed my second oil change/service and am happy with my prepaid service plan and the overall service experience. The service lobby is very nice and what I'd expect at a dealership for more high-end cars. I went car shopping with my girlfriend recently and couldn't help but notice the service lobbies at other dealerships paled in comparison. This is my first Subaru and I'm hardly some ride-or-die fanboy. I was interested in a WRX because of its great bang-for-the-buck performance and walked in knowing the model and trim level I wanted. Great experience here. Brought my 2019 Forester Limited in for service. They have a very nice waiting area, with WiFi and a fully staffed coffee bar a la most Subaru dealerships. I grabbed a double espresso, cracked open my laptop to handle some work, and before I knew it my car was done. My 2012 Outback with about 108k miles has been overheating intermittently all summer. I took it to the local shop in Bastrop and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. We replaced the thermostat, did a coolant flush ... and yet it still would randomly overheat. After my 4th trip in to the local shop, they suggested I take it to the dealer. Which is what I did. I dropped it off at Austin Subaru, gave them details and paid for the diagnoses ($200). They came back with what NO Subaru owner wants to hear - a bad head gasket. They also said I needed new bushings for the control arms, a new radiator hose and 60k service. The total bill? just over $7k and 2.5 weeks+ to repair. $5.5k alone was the head gasket. I asked for an explanation of how they diagnosed - surprised that was the diagnosis as I've dealt with a blown head gasket before and these symptoms weren't the same. No one could answer my question. Regardless, I was going to bite the bullet. But they didn't have a loaner available till January. So, I called around and decided to move it to Georgetown Subaru. THANK GOODNESS I did. Because when I got there and shared the car's symptoms and that Austin Subaru diagnosed it as a head gasket, my service lead decided to NOT tell the mechanics and have them re-do the diagnosis. He wasn't convinced it was a head gasket. Well, guess what? It wasn't. The radiator was failing + a leak in a bypass hose. It still cost $2k to replace the radiator and coolant system hoses, but at least they fixed the right thing! They were completely confused how Austin could conclude it was a head gasket since they couldn't even perform a compression test until the coolant leakage was fixed. If I had allowed Austin to do the work, I would be out $7k AND my car would still be overheating. It makes me wonder if their service employees are paid commissions for repairs? Needless to say, I won't be returning to Austin Subaru. read more

Let me start by saying, this is the 6th time I've purchased/traded a vehicle, so I've dealt with a number of dealerships and personalities within this industry. I've NEVER felt more relaxed during the car buying process than I did at Austin Subaru. (And I started the day at the dealership after a 3.5hr drive from San Angelo--specifically for their inventory & positive reviews) It started with Ethan Haycock as my sales rep. I didn't feel like I had a dollar sign on my forehead the moment I walked in the door, and he didn't immediately start talking numbers/trade etc....He sat down and really wanted to know what I wanted, why I wanted it, and helped find the best fit for my lifestyle within my budget. Only when that occurred did we start talking trade & numbers. The most important factor going in was getting a fair price for my trade...I'd done my research & knew what was fair for me, while still ensuring them a profit in the end. If you go into this dealership with a positive attitude, a fair mindset, and a basic understanding of the industry: you will walk away more than happy. They didn't play games for hours talking numbers. Finance managers didn't come out from the woodworks trying to bully me into a deal (which has happened before)...I dealt with Ethan only & within probably 30 min of talking numbers, they had my signature. Ethan was beyond knowledgeable about the vehicles, kind, respectful, and fun to be around! Then the design consultant, Hilary Razo, came out and was equally as friendly. We discovered there was the slightesttt miscommunication on one of the features of the vehicle. And while I was willing to accept the miscommunication for what it was because they'd met me where I wanted in all other aspects of the deal, their team still made it right! Lastly, the finance manager, Yelena Smirnova again was so funny & sweet, and explained very well, but didn't try to force, a bunch of extended warranties on me. These three people I had contact with just made it such an easy experience (and yall know sitting at dealerships all day can be exhausting--so enjoying the company made it way less stressful!) We drove in from out of town for an appointment to have our Subaru diagnosed for an engine noise. When we got there,, they told us it would be 3-4 days to diagnose the problem. My experience at Austin Subaru was a really pleasant one, even though I didn't end up buying a vehicle through them (in fairness, I was looking at another brand of vehicle on their used lot). Ethan was there to answer all of my questions, was very welcoming, and broke down all of the fees to get me an out the door price very quickly. He also helped me get an approximate value on a potential trade-in which I didn't have with me at the time, by using photos, the VIN, and some other information. With the used car market being what it is right now, I was able to order another vehicle (again, not a Subaru) of a newer year and equivalent trim brand new due to manufacturer discounts, but this isn't the dealership's fault. It's rare that I have a positive experience at a dealer, but I do have to commend Austin Subaru and Ethan H. on their transparency, professionalism, and commitment to service. read more

I have rarely had any issues with Austin Subaru however today when I took my car in the person I checked in was not wearing a mask. I asked him why and he said he wasn't sick. This is not safe. I attempted to reach Brandon but received a failure notice on the email. I brought my car in for oil change and used the express service.  The man who waited on me was not wearing a mask and he was closer than 6 feet. His response when I asked why he wasn't wearing a mask was that he was not sick.  Travis county is in Stage 5 where masks are recommended for all. Guess he doesn't know that masks are to protect others and yourself.  I have no idea how many people he spoke to today and every day but he could easily be exposed and in turn expose others. I asked the woman who spoke with me after I checked in said he is with the Service Dept and they are expected to wear a mask.  I asked her to report this to the Service Manager.  The man that waited on me was still not wearing a mask when I left 2 hr later. I have been a  customer for years.  I expect better from Subaru. read more

I was looking for a vehicle that had technology and luxury of my Lexus but with a more rugged exterior. I was excited to find the Subaru Crosstrek, I made my purchase on Thursday. I came in pre-financed and was expecting a faster experience; that didn't happen. (I figured it's just part of the car buying process) My car had just arrived and still needed to be detailed, before I could take it home- (no big deal, I still have my Lexus). It did feel weird paying for a car and leaving the lot empty handed. Where the real disappointment comes from is the amount of texts/communication I'm getting asking me if I'm enjoying my New Subaru. After the third touch point, I called my salesman Terrence - he seemed annoyed by my contact and just said it wasn't ready and told me he would call when it was. This morning I woke up to another 2 texts asking me about my car and the experience of Subaru. My experience so far...less than satisfying. read more

This was my first visit to any Subaru dealership, and it was for service. Typically with dealerships I've dealt with, you get great service during the buying process but not so much after that. Service appointments are usually hit or miss (mostly miss in my experience). This was not the case with Austin Subaru. I will say that it started off a little worrying. I drove into the express lane to get an oil change on my recently purchased '18 STi and the initial interaction with the first guy checking me in was not so great. He was obviously in a bad mood and had a pretty poor attitude. I didn't say anything as, like I said before, this was typical in my experience with service appointments. (more on this in a minute, I am not calling out anyone by name.) I check in, walk into the lobby and am blown away. They have a full barista bar, free sodas, tons of comfortable seating and excellent data connectivity (I had to work a bit while waiting). Good job here! I hate waiting for service but the time flew! I was greeted by my adviser who went over my pricing etc. He expected at least an hour and a half for my oil change. It was done in less than an hour and I was on my way. Back to the somewhat rude initial employee. As I was getting in my car, without me talking to *anyone* about him, he walked up and apologized to me. My purchasing experience here was top notch. It is the first time I have purchased a car from a dealership where I did not feel pushed or manipulated in anyway. It seemed very much like they were there to help me buy a new car rather than squeeze every penny out of me they could. The bottom line is that I was treated very well and given a fair deal. This is what every car dealership should aim for and every car buying customer deserves. In a few thousand miles I will take it in for its first service and I may update my review then with the service experience. But, they do you have a nice waiting area with a little snack bar and coffee bar. I would like to change my review slightly. My best friend reminded me today why I am just grateful that I received the Honda instead of the wonders of a new Subaru. I really wasn't very impressed by the Honda comparatively to a Subaru (I'm sorry Honda lovers) but this did two things for me: 1) I MISSED my Subaru and it made me realize just how much I love my car! 2) It didn't make me WANT a new Subaru because I wasn't being tempted by an upgraded version of a vehicle I already love, and I can not afford a NEW Subaru for a while. I was frustrated because I really don't like being mislead and while I do understand just wanting "that annoying customer begging for a bigger vehicle for her family" to just stop being persistent and, please leave", I still prefer somebody to be straight with me. I'm sorry for my angry comment earlier, I shouldn't review out of frustration. Most importantly, thank you Austin Subaru for not putting me in a temptation-mobile because I would've cringed for the day I had to return the keys. I appreciate that the majority of the staff here is very polite, kudos. I had an issue with my vehicle that I didn't have before taking it in, I called them and apparently I reached the assistant manager and she apologized very genuinely and offered to make things right. Not happy with the experience here. I booked an 8AM service appointment and I arrived early. The waiting room was already packed and they did not finish my oil change and tire rotation until 9:25AM. Why have appointment times if you cannot keep them? They included an oil additive without permission, something I have never seen a dealership or any other shop do. The additive is not synthetic.....which they added to a synthetic oil change. They disconnected my battery during the oil change/inspection which reset my window switches and clock. There is no need to disconnect the battery and no other dealer has ever done so for any of my vehicles. The coolant and wiper fluid reservoir caps were left open. They did not provide my inspection report until I asked them for it afterwards. They have also not responded to my request to understand why they added an engine oil additive. Price out the door was $138 which is also the most I have ever paid at a Subaru dealer. These are mostly minor issues, but added up they certainly point towards a poorly run operation, and one I will not work with again. read more

I told him the list once, and everything was done and he even added to the list by replacing my key fob battery. After an abysmal 2020 and staying home since forever and saving up for my dream car I was super impressed with Austin Subaru. I've been taking my older Outback here for a few years. In 2018 I saw a badass lifted Ascent and said "someday I'm going to get that" and... here we are. Just purchased a 2021 Ascent Touring with all the bells and whistles and a lift kit, rims, tires, tints, body guards. Used the Costco program and worked with Ayron who was so amazing to deal with. Our transaction was pretty simple, we knew the exact model and features we wanted before we arrived so it was just up to them to deliver, and they did. Got me my dream car and all the bells and whistles plus upgrades and we scheduled the appointment to get those done at the time of purchase. Appreciate them for staying late and working with us. Also huge props to Jake who kept us going even though everyone was legit dog tired at the end. I know it's "their job" but the guys stuck with us and we got the deal done and I have my dream car and it's facelift scheduled. I also loved our design consultant who could tell I was tapped out and gave me websites and options to pick from for our upgrades in a couple weeks. Our dream car was a dealer trade and arrived weeks ahead of schedule. Huge props to the Austin Subaru team for making this a seamless transaction. So your buying experience may be pleasant, as ours was some years ago, but subsequent customer care is frustratingly slow. I have been going to this Subaru location for years and have always had an incredibly positive experience. The service team is fantastic and always goes above and beyond. As a young woman I don't know very much about cars and I am never made to feel stupid and the prices are incredibly fair. I never feel like I am getting ripped off. I recently worked with the design department to get a trailer hitch installed on my car and I had a great experience with Hector. He was polite and found answers to my questions even if he did not know the answers himself. On the other hand, Brianna could use some lessons from Hector and the service department. When I was first trying to book an appointment she was incredibly hard to get a hold of. She was rude to me over the phone when I told her I did not have my VIN number on hand as I was at work and wasn't able to walk down to my car. She was incredibly condescending when I asked questions and made me feel like an idiot for not knowing the ins and outs of a trailer hitch installation. I dropped my car off in the morning and was told she would be sending me a payment link once the installation was complete. I never received the link. Once it was time to pay I was taken to her and was told she sent me the link. When I said I hadn't gotten it she said she did not have time for me and stormed off. Hector had to run around the dealership and find someone else to take my payment. She does not represent the amazing service I have gotten here before and I was incredibly disappointed considered how much I spent on this installation. read more
