    Clam Chowder
    Justin S.

During Boston's Restaurant Week 2023, I stopped by Avenue One for weekday lunch. $32 got me clam chowder and a short rib sandwich. The clam chowder cup ended up forgettable and nothing out-of-the-ordinary. Both the regular price of $12 and the restaurant week bundle seemed steep. The short rib sandwich fared better. The short rib seemed quite tender. I do wish the horseradish aioli were stronger; it only seemed to come through in about a third of the sandwich. Otherwise, the fries were decently cooked with a good crispness and the right amount of salt. The sandwich is normally priced at $22, but it felt more like something that should be around $18, plus factoring in any hotel surcharges that might apply, which is understandable.

Very nice hotel restaurant, quaint and relaxing atmosphere. Clam chowder was delicious as well as the fish and chips. Recommend dining here while staying at Hyatt.

The Lounge at Avenue One was great and the Bartenders were great, but the one time we ate at the restaurant, the food felt like it was out of a box and microwaved and not prepared by a chef. It was just kind of bland and just ok, maybe it was just because it was the off season and not summer? I will however say that the service was superb!

    Mongolian Steak - heck yeah

Our last night in Boston and we just wanted to chill in the hotel here at the Hyatt Regency. To be honest, we've tried most of the recommended places to eat when visiting Boston either through Yelp, YouTube, Trip Advisor and Google and it's been a hit or miss. Little did we know that one of the best foods here in this town was just right below our hotel room. Yes - Avenue One! The food here is excellent. Don't let the overall 3 star rating tell you otherwise. Their fish and chips rocks! Perfectly seasoned generous haddock is lightly breaded and crisp to perfection. The Mongolian steak is one of the better Asian inspired steaks I've had for a while. Could easily be a dish in Morimotos kitchen. Lastly their gnocchi is to die for with the light lemon flavor. You also get a $10 credit when staying at the hotel. A definite 5 star worthy review.

Fancy looking with pleasant staff (although either they need more staff or they are a bit slow). I got the Boston Burger and Fries. The french fries were pretty good. The Boston burger looked really nice, but the meat unfortunately was quite well done and as dry as a bone. I am glad that I had a pint of draft beer to wash it down.

Comfy Setting - MNF - Clam Chowder - Calamari Salad

Atmosphere: 3 Food: 4 Service: 5 Value: 3 Been a long Monday. The lounge was hopping. Wanted some quiet. Chose to sit in dining room. Noise carried through. Oh, it's MNF. Found a couch, ordered and started watching instead! Appreciated that their service was friendly and fast. First came two thick slices of "Warm Bread" with a nice mix of oil and vinegar; next, a "Clam Chowder" hot, thick and sweet; last, a "Calamari Salad", spicy, hot, wonderful taste, with greens blanched while sitting in the hot broth, quite delightful! Overall, a nice late supper I had here! Cheers!

I'm not a big fan of hotel restaurants in the States, as many of them are overpriced and underwhelming. Avenue One was no exception. The caesar salad was acceptable as there was enough cheese. However, the singular anchovy provided was tart and taste resembled more of a herring. The Argentinean steak frites had five steak medallions. The problem was that the size of each medallion was different and I could tell they were all cooked and removed from the fire at the same time. Therefore the cooking temperatures varied. Some were overcooked, some were just right and one was on the rare side. Plus they came a bit on the cold side. The steak was rather under seasoned and the salsa wasn't of much help. The fries were passable. Service was fine though I was left alone for the most far. You can do better around here.

    BBQ Chicken Flatbread.....$12

I stayed at the Hyatt over the weekend and this restaurant was in our hotel. Very nice atmosphere, it was as classy as you would expect from a hotel restaurant. The staff were very accommodating and did a great job making sure we were happy and taken care of on a busy Saturday night. Proximity is nice, as it was short elevator ride down to the restaurant. I will say that prices were steep for some pretty basic entrees and drinks that should've ideally been less expensive than they were. I ended up ordering a BBQ Chicken Flatbread and the flavor was incredibly delicious. (Granted I was about four or five drinks deep.) It was the perfect blend of chicken, onions, barbecue sauce, blue cheese, and cheeses. But again with the prices, I paid $12 for it and finished it in about a minute and a half, and was left a bit hungry. I am planning on most likely staying in this hotel again on my next trip to Boston, but I will probably go somewhere a bit better. (As per my fellow Yelpie's help, of course!)

As part of the Hyatt and their "destination fee", we we went down to the bar to get our complimentary cup of chowder. We sat at the bar and also got wine and beer. The first night the bartender was not very friendly and curt. Luckily our last visit was much better with a vibrant bartender who checked on us often. The chowder was okay and the size of clams were decent on NYE.

Oh Avenue One. You're like that really awkward date that somehow turned out a really great kiss at the end of the night. My experience started out all wrong. The restaurant accidently canceled a couple days before my Restaurant Week reservation. When I called to see what was up, the woman apologized profusely but almost ended the call without getting my name or the number of people in my party. LIke Jenna commented, it's not really a restaurant.. it's like a weird set of tables attached to the lounge area. When I arrived with my friend, we walked past the host stand because we had no idea that was supposed to be the restaurant. The hostess was a friendly woman. She took my last name and wrote it on a post it. When we were seated the waiter greeted me using my last name, which I thought was a nice personal touch, but I think the efforts should have been focused on the service rather than trying to pronounce my Italiany Spanishy last name. My water was refilled once, and that was only after requested. The eggplant napoleon seemed like something I could have made at home and was served lukewarm. My steak was cooked on the rare side when I asked for medium well. It also had quite a bit of fat on it. The amount of thin french fries was overwhelming and I felt like it was placed strategically to hide the steak fat. But the dessert.. a chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce.. was amazing! I really wish I had the dessert first.. I think it may have helped the rest of the meal. I wonder if this is their real service or if this is how they treat "kids" like me during Restaurant Week. Also.. splitting the check was a bit of a hassle. It took awhile and the manager explained that it was "weird" for him to do it.. although he did it gladly. They all just seemed very scattered. Conference in town maybe? I don't know. I'd come back for dessert if no where else was open.

Rooftop bar? Nope As the name says - Terrace! There isn't any view - just the bricks of the building. I just had a Stella here so I can't really comment much besides the atmosphere which was just dull. Not a place that I would hang for drinks.

On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

That time due to everything going on in the world with minimal travel we enjoyed a cheap rate for an entire weekend with probably the best view offered for the hotel of TD Garden as well as the Leonard P. Which I will say if you are looking for a place to stay for an event at TD Garden, good luck finding a better option than here! Check in staff and valet workers were friendly and greeted us with a smile. Rates were very reasonable for end of summer and with a concert so close. Room was smaller this stay around and our view was more of just a building with a small glance of TD Garden if you looked to the side. Overall a very clean room and still a good amount of space. Can not think of any complaints for our stay and would stay here again. They offer valet parking and anytime we needed the car it was quick to get it back. Inside the lobby/first floor they have plenty of seating and what they dub "The Bistro" that offers breakfast, dinner, and full bar and I believe Starbucks drinks too. Location wise it is quite ideal, obviously if your activities/work is in this area of Boston. Besides TD Garden it is also close to North station along with plenty of food and drink options. Personally for a morning coffee or matcha I say check out Blank Street Coffee, then food wise I would say take a quick walk to the North End or closer try Tavern In The Square. Definitely a hotel worth looking into while visiting Boston!
