What a hidden gem! Went here on a Sunday for brunch and the place was actually pretty busy! It definitely has that Ma and Pa feel to it which is kind of cute. It's located at the executive airport so I would have never thought of going here for a restaurant unless I wasn't recommend to! The service here is super nice, again feeling very homey and welcoming and warm. They know the menu well and look as though they work very hard. The food selection looks like the standard Denny's or IHOP, but I'd say more flexibility in options. The portion sizes are huge and their pancakes are deliciously fluffy and large! Also you can split your tons of bacon side for half sausage half bacon if you'd like. Bacon is thick and crispy! Don't forget to ask about their secret items: fried rice and loco moco! The Aviator is pretty special --- it's in the Sac Executive airport -- so you get this awesome view of these cool private planes and helicopters. They have this early bird special on the weekdays --- I believe from 7am-9am ---- the point is, get there early if you want to take advantage of the deal. It's $2.99 or $3.99 for pancakes, eggs, and sausage with coffee. We have dined here about a dozen times and found that they are very consistent in quality. The menu is not large but has a good variety of breakfast and lunch items. Service is very good and the meals are tasty. The setting is unusual as the dining room overlooks the runway and deck of the airport and you might see an occasional small aircraft take off or land. Our servers are usually very good and the food comes in on time, but if the place is crowded things may slow down. They seem to have a big neighborhood presence around breakfast time and one always seems to run into someone they know from the South Land Park-Greenhaven-Pocket area. The airport seems to be quiet most of the time and parking is ample. We are happy with Aviator's as the south area has few coffee shop type restaurants beyond Shari's on Florin Road and perhaps Florez and IHOP. read more

Use to take my boys here when they were younger. Have also gone many times without them. This is an upstairs restaurant at the executive airport on Freeport Blvd. Has a good salad bar. The food is good. I usually get the turkey club. Every seat allows you to see onto the airport runways. There use to be a chair lift for people with mobility limitations. May be updated now. Service here is horrible. Never once came over to check us on. Never came to refill our drinks. I ordered french toast and I had to go to the kitchen to ask for syrup. Delicious breakfast and lunch at great prices! I had the Aviator specialty breakfast and it did not disappoint! It reminded me of my favorite dish from the Golden Harvest Cafe in Arcata, CA... Sunday Potatoes. It had everything you could ever want in one breakfast. It was huge and I only ate 1/3 of it. I just split the left overs with my husband this morning and it was PLENTY. I say get the Aviator and split it between 3 people. Then get a side of pancakes or something else to share. The Aviator restaurant is also KID FRIENDLY, especially for rambuncious little boys. The waitress actually came over and said, we are used to kids being excited about the planes so don't worry about him being loud. What a wonderful thing to hear at a restaurant! Went here for a 98th Birthday party and it was my first time eating there. The reserved room is a cute little area with a bar even. The interior is decorated a little retro like probably 30 years old but it didn't matter. They served salad, rolls, beef which was probably tri-tip in brown sauce, chicken with mushrooms in white sauce, green beans sautéed in oil and onions and the piece de resistance FRIED RICE WITH CRISPY BACON AND PORTUGUESE SAUSAGES!!! This place has sure gone way downhill from its heyday many years ago! My first impression was that it was dirty. The carpets were dirty, the tables were dirty, the widows were dirty, etc. Usually I would not have stayed, but we had flown in, and decided to try something safe - sandwich. I ordered a coffee, and guess what? - dirty cup. Ordered two BLTs. The sandwiches were just OK - nothing special. Service was very slow, and overall I'd say they are soon to close. Greeting when we entered and seated ourselves. Waitperson was attentive and despite being busy kept track of us pretty good. Tuna Melt and Slaw that was fresh and moist. Hamburger and really great onion rings. The interior is fantastic-image yourself in a 1970's James Bond flick. We love it. Let's talk about this spot that's been here forever also that nobody remembers exists. The kitchen here has been open forever.... The people that are running the kitchen are a family that has had this restaurant for over 20 years I believe. I like the short menu where I can decide what I want. I've had everything on the menu. I love everything on the menu. Especially their hashbrowns. If you're a big eater and you like a big plate for a great price this is where you go for breakfast that will knock you off your feet. I often come here for breakfast and usually have a great experience. The location is neat and it's fun to watch planes take off while you dine. The airplane models and all the airplane pictures in the restaurant are also really neat. The food is average however it's cheap. My main complaint would be the service on weekdays as it often tends to be extremely slow and the servers can sometimes be unpleasant people. Can you say time warp?! This place hasn't changed in at least 45 years. Went there for the early bird special breakfast. Four of us ate for $13 and some change! Showed the manager my moldy toast and she said she could take it off the bill. I told her under no circumstance would I pay for a meal where I just discovered mold. I contested that I already ate the other half and could have just consumed mold. She got angry and told me if I didn't pay she would call the cops. No--this is not a dine and ditch lady, and I could expose you to all your customers. My boyfriend tried to rationally speak to the lady and she said sometimes this happens when the toast is near heat or not consumed quick enough. She continued to threaten him with the police too. He mentioned how he could yelp the business and she said "If you post this I will follow up with the police". Her final comment was snickering about how much she saw I already ate .....YES I did eat moldy food. That is why I am so mad that you suggest I pay for something so disgusting. Try again lady, I think I value my health over a free meal. Look....to the owner, just train your manager that arguing about moldy toast and threatening to call the police about mold consumption is a terrible scare tactic to maintain revenue. You can drive in or fly in for a meal at this restaurant. Nearly all of the seating has a view of the runway....mostly general aviation aircraft. Free parking if you drive in. I just had a cheeseburger, fries, and a beer on this visit. For a change, I tried blue cheese on the burger...I won't make that mistake again! I did see on the menu substitutions are subject to a charge. Any case, they said no. And that's fine with me. Clearly, they didn't see the pickle video about customer service. I love the food and the past service my family and I have gotten from this place before and that's why we keep coming back. Unfortunately it was not the case today. Food was amazing but unfortunately service was unprofessional and attitude was uncalled for. Our Server did not come by to check on us at all! When I asked another server passing by for another glass of orange juice our original server came to drop it off with an horrible attitude and stated... "We don't give orange juice refills but this time it's okay." I then proceeded to let her know to please change us for the glass of orange juice on our bill and she denied the request. We had French toast on the table that my partner and I planned to eat after eating our breakfast meals and it was too late to notice that she had taken it away during the orange juice interaction we decided we didn't want to complain as a way of compensating for the orange juice we had asked for earlier. After the awful experience as a past server of several years I chose not to tip due to the lack of service and her attitude. My partner and I got up from the table and started to walk away when the server then stops to ask me. " So you aren't going to leave a tip?" As she's stomping away... Demanding for a tip after you know you gave us a poor dining experience with attitude after attitude was just unprofessional and uncalled for. Been a long time customer and have referred tons of people in the past but don't know whats going on lately. Ordered the chicken and waffles in fact I called ahead. Ate the chicken legs first and they were cooked fine but when I I bit into the thigh they were under cooked and bloody! When I pointed it out to the young lady she asked if I wanted the cook to drop them in the grease a bit longer...no thanks! Then my bill comes and the entres $16.95 when it sould have been $12.95. After complaining my bill was adjusted to $10.00 which was $10.00 to much for bloody chicken. Way to run off a long term customer and local!
