Honestly my favorite place to come by and get a late night or after dinner sweet treat. I do prefer this location over the weho one due to parking restrictions. I personally love their dayglow coffee flavor and I have brought multiple friends to visit and they have all really enjoyed this place. Service is amazing as always with free samples.
This was one of the coolest architectural ice cream places I've been to. The flavors are standard but in a different way, there's a twist to it. This is an Indonesian flavor inspired place which for me is a first of its kind. The worker was super friendly and allowed us to try samples of the ice cream. It was rich and creamy and not overly sweet. You can taste the subtle flavors of the ingredients. There were a few places to sit but I imagine when it's busy you probably won't get a seat. The only downside is that it's a bit on the expensive end. Portion is good, vibes good, ice cream good. Also a nice place to take pictures!
Great service for gelato testing. This coconut based Indonesian inspired gelato with pure palm sugar topping grating is impressive. Awan used premium ingredients that come with Hollywood price tag. Unique & chic shop with 24/7 self vending gelato machine. Just have to deduct one star because of no parking & no free water for high prices gelato. I do love how smooth, soft & well blended gelato without milk. Recommended Pandan pineapple & butterfly pea with yuzu flavor.
This is a place of miracles! I've watched vegan food skeptics take one bite of their coconut-based scoops and literally drop their jaws. Conversion complete. Awan has become part of our LA ritual. What really sets it apart is their creativity and the fact that they're executed so well. Nothing tastes "alternative" or compromised here, just rich, creamy, and craveable. My personal favorites are the Gaviota Strawberry (thankfully available year-round) and the Shinko Pear + Ginger, which has the perfect zing without being overpowering. Come curious! If you're not sure, the workers happily provide samples and give solid recs. The artsy aesthetics, laidback vibes, and Indonesian flavors would make any date or hangout here feel like a mini-vacation! Plant based ice cream spot located in the Larchmont area. I've been to the location in West Hollywood, but this was my first visit to Larchmont. Similar menu with tasty flavor. They're all coconut based I think so you'll have a hint of coconut flavor (at least with the flavors I had). But this is seriously delicious ice cream that taste, it's all plant based, so it's pretty darn amazing if you are looking for a dairy free dessert option. Service here is very friendly and helpful as well. The vibe here is chill and it feels like you're going into a cavern to order and enjoy your treat. I can't remember what I exactly ordered but one of the flavors I got was strawberry and it was amazing
Ethan at this location was the best - got me samples of just about everything to try!! I ended up getting the vanilla, which was amazing. All the flavors I tried were delicious though. This location is like being in a cave, very fun. Overall, I really like when people go out of their way to make sure you have a positive experience, and this was exactly that!
I found my place for indulging in some guilt free ice cream! I found the entrance and the seating style quite cool. I was also happy to see limited options to choose from and could taste tested each of them. I feel quite overwhelmed when there are 50 options to choose from. The menu here is limited offering not so regular flavours. We had the one with mandarins first. Tasted very fruity and less sugary. The ice creams here are vegan and coconut based. After finishing it off within a few minutes, we next ordered chocolate Oreo. I'm not an Oreo fan but I am for sure buying this flavour often here now ... Again less sugary, very light on Oreo taste and definitely guilt free. Small cup $6 , regular $9
Awan is one of my favorite ice cream places. Parking is relatively easy, just find street parking in front of the store or on the side streets. There is some seating inside on the side but not big enough for a large party. Awan has seasonal flavors. They always surprise me with their new unique flavors. They are able to create the flavors perfectly. I tried their Sobacha and Apple Oat Crumble and it was amazing. Very delicious and refreshing. I loved it a lot. Very smooth and creamy.
I love Awan's special vegan ice cream. Especially their original one is my favorite. It has some coconut flavor and vanila. And my husband also really liked his ice cream. Their space is not that big though so cute and cave vibe interior. I really like this theme. The staff is so patient and kind. I love AWAN!
such a quaint little place for indonesian ice cream!! its a literal hole in the wall and has really cool orange geologic vibes to it. it was my first time having indonesian ice cream too. i like coconut milk so i dig that its the base for most of the flavors :) staff is nice and friendly! let me try lots of samples. i tried the caramel, coffee, vanilla, and golden sesame. i was leaning towards the coffee one but i opted for golden sesame since it was a limited time flavor! golden sesame was nutty and had chunks of dark chocolate mixed in like stracciatella! my friend got strawberry and pineapple pandan! both were good but strawberry stood out to me. its the best choice for a tart flavor!! if i was in the mood for fruity, i would most definitely get that one. store only has 4 tables along a bench by the wall. it wasnt too busy when we went so we were able to enjoy inside. they also have a vending machine for pints if you want to buy them

Awan is by far my favorite vegan ice cream spot in LA. Their flavors are all unique, high quality, not too sweet (looking at you Salt & Straw) and they manage to nail the ice cream texture despite being vegan. I no longer despise my lactose intolerance, because I discovered Awan as a result! This location has more flavor options than their other location in West Hollywood; however, their line is typically longer. FLAVOR (5/5): 1. MINT CHOC CHIP: My favorite of all the ones I've tried. I've been craving mint chocolate chip ice cream and I can finally eat it to my heart's content. This one comes with a chocolate topping and the combination of the creaminess of the ice cream with the crunch of the chocolate is divine. 2. GAVIOTA STRAWBERRY: These are made from Harry's Berries (expensive but high quality farmer's market berries) and I also love this flavor when I'm in a strawberry mood. 3. BLUEBERRY LAVENDER: Such a unique flavor that's so well-balanced. Similar to Salt & Straw's Honey Lavender but slightly fresher due to the blueberries. SERVICE (5/5): Service Is good! FYI If the line is too long and/or if it's near closing they won't allow for sampling. PARKING (3/5): Street parking, although there is a neighborhood nearby and you can try to snag a spot there. TAKEAWAYS: I really appreciate the creative decisions Awan is making while still using high quality ingredients. Even for people who aren't vegan, I'd recommend Awan as they have a wide range of unique flavors from fresh (with their Blue Yuzu Lemonade) to decadent (with their Chocolate Oreo). The attention to detail they have with each scoop is amazing and I'm in love with the toppings they delicately put on top. :) read more
Came to this location on a Tuesday night after dinner and was easily able to find parking. When you walk in the ice cream stand looks like a really cool hotel lobby with a few seats on the side to enjoy your ice cream at. We were quickly served by the staff and he was kind enough to let us try the flavors we were interested in. We got the salted caramel, strawberry, and pink guava matcha which were all delicious. These ice creams are all coconut based and are the creamiest dairy alternative ice creams I've had! It was so good we all took a pint home. I got the Totoro flavor which is a black sesame ice cream and I love it. It's a must try spot! read more

Been wanting to try this artisanal ice cream shop for a while and so happy they opened in Larchmont. You wouldn't think it's an ice cream shop from glancing at it but it is & it's one of the yummiest places I've tried. We've been a couple of times and it's the same server when we go and he's kind and friendly. They do samples of their ice creams too so that's a plus. The vibe is chill and the place is very aesthetically pleasing if you're into that sorta thing. Parking is only street metered parking. Unless you park in the residential but read the signs. Now for the flavors we've tried are the vanilla bean, the saffron pistachio date and the dayglow coffee. They all have tasted spectacular. Creamy, not too sweet and it's exactly what you'd expect an artisanal ice cream shop ice cream would taste like. Can't wait to try more! read more

Probably the best ice cream in Los Angeles. I know we have so many options for ice cream in this city alone, and hands down, the best one! Flavors are so unique, yet they are not overpowering of any sort. Not overly sweet but very subtle, just enough to get you feeling good. I haven't tried all the flavors yet, but my favorite is the Almond Marzipan. I loved the chunks giving different textures. I just loved everything about it! The texture in general for Awan's ice cream is very smooth and creamy, as ice cream should be with its own style and unique flavors. Their Balinese Vanilla Bean was also so good, along with Gaviota Strawberry, made with the infamous Harrys Berries. I also really enjoyed the Greenglow Matcha and Spiced Apple Oat Crumble, which is basically the ice cream version of classic apple pie. Kluwek Chocolate Chip was also great and different from other chocolate chips you had in the past. The bittersweet Indonesian kluwek seed-infused chocolate chips are on another level! Waiting can be long on the weekends, especially after dinner time, but it is worth it. There is usually only one person working, so just keep that in mind. A few seats and tables inside but not too spacious. Street and meter parking only. read more
My favorite (vegan) ice cream spot!!! The only downside is that they only have locations in LA, which means it can be hard to get to, especially since you would need to find street parking. We got their matcha, strawberry and blue yuzu flavor in their smallest size which around around $7. A bit pricey for the size that you get, but it's a sweet indulgence once in a while. The flavors were so pungent and strong, which I really liked, plus the coconut base was delicious. The aesthetic of the shop is also really unique, it's like you're in a modern cave. The way the ice cream is scooped up is also beautiful, so perfectly round and smooth. The service was also great, you're able to try out their flavors. Awan is such a cool spot! Their ice cream is coconut cream-based and we were told it's originally from Indonesia. TOTORO and VANILLA BEAN were such unique and surprisingly good flavors. The vibe of the shop is really nice too -- clean, modern, and atheistically pleasing. If you're into trying something different and delicious, definitely check this place out. Tried Indonesian ice cream for the first time, and was flabbergasted with how tasty it is. No dairy? Made with a coconut milk base and made in small portions to ensure quality? For someone who's lactose intolerant, this was great news to me! I ordered a split scoop ($10) to try two flavors. It's a steep price, but it was worth it. Legitimately one of the best ice cream places I've been to in Los Angeles. The ice cream on the right is a scoop of the blue yuzu lemonade on top of a scoop of the saffron pistachio date rose water. The menu features a wide range of unique flavors that you probably won't find anywhere else. Super tasty and the flavors complement each other. The service was also great and the setting has a cool orange cave feel, a great place for instagram-able photos. read more
My friend heard about this place so we went to check it out. Since it is LA, you'll have to find street parking. We were lucky enough to do. The flavors sounded interesting. The person taking our order was helpful with the most popular flavors and gave samples. Gaviota Strawberry (5/5): This was actually so good. Everything is vegan but it still taste smooth and creamy. The strawberry flavor was perfect. My friends got the Blue Yuzu Lemonade and Greenglow Matcha. Both were also very good. The yuzu was strong. The interior was a very burnt orange stone vibe. It is a storefront with just a ceiling fan. There is some seating around. I would give it a 5 star but $6 for a 3 oz kids scoop is expensive.. read more

This made us feel a little weary about if the ice cream was good but no need to fear. They have a wide variety of flavors that change given the season. Creamiest vegan ice cream I've had (even creamier than some dairy ice creams)! So good. Vegan ice cream is good in its own right in both texture and taste, but it's not the same as dairy ice cream. The ice cream at Awan had a consistency that felt like frozen yogurt, but slightly more creamy, and also had a slightly tartness. I wouldn't say I was wowed by what I got and I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here, but if I'm in the area, I'd come back. They have a lot of interesting flavors that I was curious to try, but it's $8 for a single scoop and $10 for a split scoop and the weight difference is only 1 oz. I felt a bit put off by this especially when places like Wanderlust Creamery charge the same price for a split scoop and single scoop. read more

The flavors are definitely unique. The texture and base is nice and creamy. The coconut base is not overpowering at all, but I do love coconut. I do wish they allowed sampling to help choose a flavor as it was difficult to envision based off the description alone given that such unique ingredients are used. It is quite expensive as well. It's a nice moment being Indonesian and seeing Indonesian ingredients being used in certain flavors as that is basically unheard of elsewhere. I got the gula jawa and matcha and both definitely tasted of it. read more
Awan's newest location in Larchmont offers TONS more flavors - it feels like you're in a dark cave and the dim lighting and red rock vibe interiors make it a whole experience. Servers are friendly, they let us sample many flavors (esp since there were many that I was curious). Def on the pricier side with $6 for kids scoop and $10 for split scoop, but they use high quality ingredients. My favs will always be the matcha, chocolate oreo and strawberry. read more

One of my friends have been raving about this place for a long time now, but I never had a chance to try since I was never in the area. This day, since we were already in LA, we decided to stop by for a quick grab. We were able to get a few samples and I settled with the Dayglow Coffee flavor while my friends got the Gaviota Strawberry flavor. I was so surprised by the fact that the ice cream had no dairy because it was quite creamy and as someone who doesn't love coconut scent too much it was not overpowering at all. I really enjoyed the scoop and I was surprised that the line was reaching the end of the door by the time we finished our scoops. We did go around an hour or so before closing though. It was a little chilly since the location has no door and iz more of like an open booth situation. They had merch on display and a side wall where customers can sit with these little blocks where you can use as side tables. Overall, I would come back and try other flavors id I am in the area. Recommend if you are looking for dairy-free and tasty dessert options! read more
First I think the times are wrong here. At the store the sign says they are open until 11pm. Great addition to the top section of Larchmont. The ice cream I'm giving 5 stars. It's DELICIOUS and SUPER CREAMY! The reason for the 4 stars is just the design of the store. It's built to cause a line. One tiny window so only one order at a time and everyone is tasting samples causes a line down the sidewalk which is what they're going for. It took me almost 30 mins from just outside the store front to get to the window to order an ice cream. That's dumb. The picture of the line is when I first walked up and it was almost 30 mins from there. read more
A new favorite ice cream shop! Came here on a Friday night and there was already a long line since only one person manages the shop. We waited about 30 minutes but it was worth it. My bf and I opted for Yuzu Lemonade and Valencia Orange to share since we craving something citrus-y. Yuzu is tangy and a bit sweet; while the orange tasted mostly sweet. We tried other flavors too and honestly all of them are good. Will definitely stop by again! read more
This is my new favorite ice cream place in LA and I cannot believe it's vegan! I had the split scoop of gaviota strawberry and mint chocolate chip. Both flavors were refreshing and rich in flavor. I also like the little topping each flavor comes with. There is a slight coconut taste, but not overpowering at all. blue yuzu lemonade: very refreshing and light. valencia orange: I would get a scoop of this if I want a citrusy fruity ice cream. It has that orange flavor, yet is very creamy. dayglow coffee: classic coffee ice cream. needs this on a pick me up day. almond marzipan: not what i was expecting at all. expected nuttiness, but it tasted more floral like. spiced apple oat crumble: heavy on the spiced apple. nonetheless, yummy! #1: gula jawa. I don't like coconut but this was sweet, creamy, interestingly yummy and addicting. I would order this next time. love the vibes here overall. great interior/exterior design. read more

Fell in love with this place! Such unique flavors! I got saffron pistachio date rosewater and balinese vanila bean and they were both amazing. They allow you to taste up to 2 flavors per person so definitely take an advantage of it if you don't know what to get :) Ice cream was so creamy and flavorful Larchmont location also has a cool interior but seating is limited. It was easy to find a street parking nearby. Cant wait to go back to try more flavors read more
Awan is definitely up there as one of the most unique and flavorful ice cream spots I have been to in a while! This spot is serving up some vegan coconut-based ice cream with Indonesian-inspired flavors! They are located in Larchmont right next to Dayglow Coffee. Street parking will be your best bet here. Wifey and I came after our dinner around 8pm and it was pretty packed. They have a really interesting red brick interior which creates for a super cool effect when you're inside the shop. As for their ice cream, they have so many unique flavors to choose from. We had to sample like 8 of them before we could even decide! Wifey opted for a scoop of the gula jawa (coconut sugar) and I got a scoop of the Balinese vanilla bean. Both of them were so flavorful and creamy with the right amount of sweetness. Overall, this spot definitely makes a case for it to be up there as one of the best ice cream spots in all of SoCal. Not only are they gluten and dairy free, they also have some of the most unique flavors you won't find anywhere else. Thrilled to have an Awan location in this part of town! It's a little nook next to Dayglow Coffee that will stay cool throughout the summer. You can try samples of their Indonesian-inspired vegan, gluten free ice cream - my current favorite is the greengrow matcha - great strong flavor - as well as the blue (spirulina) yuzu lemonade that even comes with a little candied yuzu garnish. Street parking on Melrose or Larchmont. Very happy they're continuing to expand here and eventually into Chinatown. read more

This place is unbelievable. Two employees were so glued to their phones that they didn't even acknowledge me when I walked in. Even while I was looking at the menu, they kept scrolling right in front of me. When I asked for recommendations, one of them actually started typing on their phone while suggesting items--like it was some kind of "new technology." I get that Gen Z lives on their phones, but seriously... doesn't anyone train staff on basic customer service anymore? read more

We went on a Monday at 5 pm and was very disappointed they only had 2 flavors available when the store opened at 3 pm. The cashier working was very nice but it was very disappointing to not be able to try any other flavors on their menu. The ice cream wasn't very special; it was creamy texture but the flavor was not anything unique. The store aesthetic was minimalistic, so great for pictures. read more

Came here around 8:30 on a Saturday night and the line was pretty long and moved slowly. It took about 30 minutes to get to the register. The ice cream though was delicious. The crew member at the register seemed to be working alone, but was super friendly and patient while giving us samples of the flavors. For plant based ice cream, these flavors are impressive. They're creamy & decadent - it'd be hard to tell that they're dairy-free. I opted for a single scoop of the blue yuzu lemonade - DELICIOUS! Street parking may be tough in the daytime, but we parked in the residential at night. read more

Stopped at Awan for a midweek pick me up. I've driven past the Hollywood location on Melrose a few times and the decor peaked my interest. When I discovered that it was vegan and well reviewed, I had to try. They have a variety of unique flavors and a few familiar. I got the split scoop of blueberry lemonade and chocolate Oreo while my partner got the saffron pistachio. I almost got the almond marzipan; sky's the limit! read more

Great selection of ice creams and I appreciate that all of them are gluten free! Parking is fairly easy and the staff is very friendly. The decor that they have is reminiscent to a cave which is great for photos and they have ample seating. Highly recommend! read more

Blue yuzu and the mango flavor in a split scoop. We came because we were in the coffee shop right next to it and thought the decor was very beautiful. The ice cream is non-dairy, which is great, and we couldn't really tell it was. Flavors are interesting and really make you wonder. We were extremely full from lunch and yet we were able to appreciate the delicate mixture of flavors and quality of ingredients. They were not sweet at all and you don't feel the heaviness or sugar rush of a typical post visit to Baskin Robbins. $10 for a split scoop. It's definitely not cheap, but the portion was good for two people. read more
Must try!!! Where do I start- so this spot is Indonesian ice cream with high quality ingredients and everything is lactose free and made with coconut milk. The best flavors by far in my opinion are the vanilla bean, yuzu lemonade, matcha, and kluwek chocolate chip. The flavors are not too sweet and just perfectly creamy. You can order a small jar to go or if you want to order two scoops, that size comes with a lid. You can also just order a small cup which comes with one scoop (one flavor)! There's street parking in the area and we came around 8PM and there wasn't a long wait at all. The person was so friendly and let us try a couple flavors each before making our final decision. I have a feeling this will be a new fav go to ice cream spot for me. read more

The hype is real! The best vegan ice cream I've ever had. Every flavor I tried was super creamy, they allowed two samples per person so my sister and I tried the blue yuzu, saffron, Valencia orange and saffron pistachio. The saffron pistachio was the clear winner, the flavor was super complex with sweetness coming from the dates and a very subtle rose flavor at the end. We stopped by on a Monday night and there was still a line, about a 20 minute wait but I thought it was worth it. The only disappointments I have for this place is that there isn't enough seating and prices are very high. One scoop is $8 and a split I think was $10. I guess that's 'LA' prices for you though. read more
